Philly Cheesesteak w/ onions n peppers

Enjoyed one of these for a late breakfast. Oh and they do have breakfast subs too. A variety of chicken or beef subs here. They cook it right in front of you. Flavors are juicy, bread has that hardness and crunchy end to it that matches/compliments the inside goodies very well.

[Located inside the food court of Norfolk Premium Outlets, towards the back.] Ehhhh. I don't know why the rating is so low for this location. I've never had any problems and I've gotten the same thing at least 3 times! I can't speak for any of the other food offered here but the $5.29 Chicken Philly sub meal is A-OK! Small chicken philly sub and fries, no drink. Filling enough and very tasty. If you have a huge appetite though, this deal is probably not for you. Service is always great from the cashier to those working the grill. They don't seem annoyed or irritated when I ask for ranch dipping sauce for my fries or need a drink refill. Definitely my favorite of the offerings in the food court. Not too many choices to begin with, so this is the best for me (so far.)

For a food court meal the good was good. The service was quick. There was no line though when I was here. You get to choose the size of the sandwich. I got the regular. It was more than enough to eat with the fries and drink. I am stuffed.

Always rude and on the phone.

Just for your awareness, there's a dresscode here, and rightly so, it's definitely an upscale restaurant. We sat at a hi-top in the bar area, which is a nice, cellar-looking area in the lower level of the restaurant. Our server was excellent! She explained that she's one of the sommeliers there and provided some pretty good feedback on their wine selection. Their menu is fairly typical of upper-end, prime steakhouses. There were many appetizing items to choose from, I had a tough time deciding. I was leaning towards their fried shrimp entrée, especially after seeing other people's pictures of it on social media. I would never normally get this, but their shrimp pics looked amazing. I started with their Greek salad - This was a HUGE salad, big enough for an entrée, especially if you add a protein to it. It was fabulous! Lots of fresh veggies in it, the dressing was excellent, and the flavors were so very good! This is definitely worthy of splitting, which I'll do next time I return. Next up was my entrée and I chose their smaller filet with an add-on of fried shrimp. I really wanted to try this shrimp and this was a way that I could try their beef and the shrimp and this was an absolutely AMAZING entrée selection!! The shrimp were HUGE! They were perfectly and beautifully battered and fried and looked stunning! The steak was spot-on! I ordered medium rare plus and if I had to guess from looking at it, it was probably 134-135 degrees! The flavor was great too! Their steak is definitely worthy of eating without any add-on or sauce. For sides we tried their Mashed Potatoes and their Haricot Verts and both were outstanding! The nice thing about this place is they actually list half portions of sides in their menu! Many places offer it, but you have to ask and if it's just two people dining, half portions are the perfect size. Save room for dessert, they offer many options! In my case, I was so full, I simply opted for a scoop of their blood orange sorbet and it was the best finish for a great dinner. Definitely will return and would recommend Byrd & Baldwin Bros for a nice evening and great dinner experience!

The food quality tasted very premium and lux, but it lack some favors. It wasn't until the end of eating my dish that I realized it was supposed to be lemon pepper chicken. I truly like the taste of chicken so I did enjoy my dish however I really didn't taste a lemon or a pepper. My husband order the porterhouse medium. It was cooked to perfection and tender on both sides of the meat however I didn't taste an herb, seasoning, or pinch of salt. A little underwhelming for the price.

Visited on Mother's Day and thankfully we had a reservation because the line was out the door. Our server was very attentive despite having multiple large parties. There is a person for water, and bread so no wait no any of those things. We did have to wait 30 minutes for our main entree but that was to be expected on a busy holiday. There was an automatic gratuity of 20%. Not sure if that was because of the holiday or a set thing. Ordered the sirloin with mash and seafood Mac which was the star of the show. Rich and perfectly crusted on top. Also had the Cowboy rib eye and they picked the largest cut I've ever seen. Honestly can't go wrong with any of the steaks. There is a glass refrigerator by the front entrance where you can choose your steak and they have deals on Tomahawks on Tuesday and Wednesday. They have plenty of happy hour options and during the weekend too which is becoming more rare. I recommend Aberdeen to all my friends who visit from out of town looking for a steakhouse.

Tables are relatively close together. At your table is a container of cheese dip and sesame crackers. The server quickly brought us a delicious loaf of hot bread. They have a large wine and cocktail menu featuring fancy cocktails . We shared a prime rib which came with a delicious house salad (or Caesar Salad). The salad was delicious and large so we opted for an additional salad as one of our 2 sides and also a baked potato. The menu states the potato's are 1 lb. And I can attest to the biggest potato I've ever had. The 14 ounce prime rib ($59) was thick cut and melts in your mouth. Even splitting it we could not eat it all. Our server was so friendly and helpful. She kept checking on us throughout our meal. The desserts looked amazing but sadly we could not eat anything else. Note: if it is your birthday, the menu says you get a free dessert and a $30 gift card to use on your next visit. There were several birthday parties in private rooms while we were there. I recommend this restaurant.

Because of the lack of street parking, my son chose to take a Lyft on our recent visit. It was a good choice. We were greeted and taken to a comfortable table. Service was prompt and helpful. Our last visit to Codex had been late January during Downtown Norfolk Restaurant Week. But when I ordered my cocktail, telling my server my need for a cocktail straw, I was surprised at the answer. She told me that the bartender Addie remembered me, my cocktail preference and my need for a straw. I looked up and she waved at me. It felt wonderful that I has been remembered. The Vodka Martini was presented in the vintage glass so familiar to me. It was the pattern I inherited from my Mother & Aunt, so popular with the WWII generation. Addie remembered how excited I was when I first saw the glass. The menu was awesome as usual. We started with Oysters, Raw with a Citrus Mignonette. Also from the starter section we chose the yummy House Made Pimento Cheese and Everything Crackers. My entree was the Gnudi with Ramps, Chestnut, Black Pearl Mushrooms, & Asparagus in White Wine Lemon Sauce. My son chose the Tuna. Both were amazing with perfect presentation. We shared the Roasted Cauliflower, which was a culinary masterpiece. When time for the dessert menu came, my son first declined. But I remembered there was a choice that I can never pass up, When the menu arrived I was excited to see that one of my favorite desserts was still on the menu. Olive Oil Cake with Lemon Curd on the side, you are wonderful. My son first declined to share but decided to take a bite. And....that was all it took. He shared the entire cake with me. It looked so good that I took a bite before taking a picture. It was a delightful evening when I needed one the most. Both my server Laurel-Manette and Addie were welcoming and friendly. I promised to return with one of each of the many types of glasses in the vintage stemware pattern. The small one used for my cocktail was the only size they had seen. Laurel-Manette made my night when she told us that dessert was on the house. If you've never been to Codex it's a must go! There's nothing about it that I would change.

I am speechless. Some of the best dessert I've ever had, but like that doesn't even do it justice. I can't believe we've had Codex in our neighborhood for so long and I've been sleeping on it.
