The coastal aesthetic immediately sets the mood, with beautiful shades of blue that make you feel as though you're sailing along the ocean while sipping a glass of their finest wine. The atmosphere is inviting, and the service was wonderful and accommodating throughout our visit. I also loved the shorter, thoughtfully selected menu. Sometimes you don't need endless choices you just need really good ones! The crab dip was so good I could not stop eating it. We also ordered the Pesto Chicken and pepperoni flatbreads, and everything from the starters to the entrées was delicious. I loved the raspberry peach sangria. I especially enjoyed learning about how their wines are created in-house, which added something special to the experience. My boyfriend and I came to Water's Edge Winery for a lunch date, and it honestly exceeded our expectations! First off, the restaurant is absolutely gorgeous--bright, beautifully decorated, and spotless. It has such a welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to sit back and enjoy your time. The staff was incredibly friendly, and our waitress truly made the experience special. She was so knowledgeable about the wines and took the time to guide us through our tasting right at the table. We started with the sangria flight and then let her surprise us by choosing our second flight, and she absolutely nailed it! For lunch, we ordered the shrimp taco appetizer, the steak panini, and the grilled chicken & prosciutto panini. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and perfect for a lighter lunch. It was one of those meals that leaves you feeling satisfied without being overly heavy. Overall, this was the perfect lunch date. We arrived just after 4pm, only dinners in, had our choice of seating in the elegantly modern, nautical atmosphere. It was very clean and inviting. The music playlist was from my mid 1980's HS years...loved that Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable of the menu, checked on items that she wasn't sure of, regarding our spice/allergy levels. The Brussel sprouts appetizer was phenomenal! We opted to have the feta on the side, due to one of our preferences, they were totally accommodating. I had a tasting of the white wines, wonderful broad spectrum of palate pleasing flavors and textures. There is a large private room for reserving. First time at Waters Edge and it was a good experience. We booked a table in advance for a Saturday lunch meet and found that the parking lot out front was already full at 12:05 (they open at 12:00!) Ambiance: Inside is stunning. It's well laid out, has great lighting, and very nice booths which make for cozy get togethers. Service: 5/5. Amber was fantastic. She was enthusiastic, very friendly, and checked on us often to make sure we were okay. Drinks: 4/5. I chose the "build your own flight" and went with the toasted coconut, pineapple pear, raspberry peach sangria, and dragonfruit sangria. In all honesty none of the wines were bad, but the pours were a little less than I expected considering you pay extra to choose your own, not every glass was level. The same for my two girls who came with me and also chose the build your own option. Food: 4/5. We all chose the Mediterranean salad with different proteins (shrimp, chicken, tuna.) It all tasted amazing but the portion was very small for how much the meal was. Overall, a solid 4 stars. This place is really nice! My neighbors and I made a spontaneous visit after work on a Friday in the Fall thinking there was going to be live music. AMBIANCE: It was pretty dead on a Friday in October, I think there was 5 tables. I guess it was nice that I could hear my friends talk. Loved the aesthetics! Soft music, the wine was low alcohol content so great for social events. Their menu is a bit different than most with quinoa on many dishes and just overall healthier options and more finger foods. Again very good for social gatherings. Came for dinner with friends to celebrate wine month. I had a reservation but it wasn't packed. I was told we could sit wherever. Choose a large booth near the live music, a gentleman playing a keyboard. The menus had a lot of tasty options. I got the salmon and substitute the couscous with orzo and got a side of brussel sprouts. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the sauce was good. The orzo was extremely bland. The brussel sprouts were great!! My friends and I decided to do the wine flights. I got the sangria flight and my friends tried variety between sangria, red and white wine. The sangrias were ok. The biggest complaint was th fact the sangria flight is listed at $21, but if you don't do the preselected options it's an additional charge of $6. It's definitely more cost effective and beneficial to share a bottle of wine with friends instead of paying $27 for a flight. I would come back for lunch maybe. read more

So glad to have Waters Edge in the neighborhood. We have a vacation home just across the bridge from WEW, and have visited several times. It's a great addition to the area! I've been back a few times since my initial review when they first opened. For this review covering the past year I would give them 3 1/2 stars. A few things from my visits: Lunch visit: I sat out on the patio with a group of 6. Our waitress was not good. Maybe she was new and inexperienced. Food took a while, waitress could not answer questions, and wine was disappointing to especially one in our group. Her Chardonnay was not to her liking (too sweet) so she did not drink it. No replacement was offered and her full glass just remained at the table. Food was "meh" this day for all of us. At one point the waitress told us she could see some of our food was ready in the kitchen and wanted to know if she should bring out what was ready or leave it back there. The owner came by the table to check on us at the end of our meal. He obviously understood that things were not going great for our table but he didn't ask what went wrong or what could be better. Missed opportunity for him. Dinner: most recently we went as a table of 4 for dinner. Everyone was pretty happy with their meals. I had the peach glazed salmon which was plentiful. Another guest at our table was happy that the flatbreads were gluten free. Unfortunately, after a guest placed their order the waiter returned 5 minutes later to say they ran out of that item. When we were choosing our wine for the meal, our waiter was not very helpful or knowledgeable. We wanted to get a bottle to share and he was very hesitant to ask the bartender for a taste before we purchased an entire bottle. They hesitantly brought a splash but it seemed like it was an annoyance. I would probably recommend doing a flight tasting unless you really know you would like the wine to get a bottle. Their wine seems much lighter and not as full bodied in comparison to wine that we normally drink (red wine). The ambiance inside was nice and relaxing. Water's edge was a new find for me and quite the surprise! Wines made here from grapes they bring in and while they might not be the wines I look for the were unique and interesting. The food menu is a little light but the flat bread and shrimp we had were solid. The service was amazing both in the tasting and table side. Plus a cool little patio I would recommend. read more

I'm in LOVE! Waters Edge is just what Norfolk needed! I'm from out of town, but visit the Hampton Roads often. They've only been open a short time, but the owner welcomed us and gave us a lovely overview of the restaurant and the wine club. Do yourself a favor and sign up on Mondays for a discount! They've got a private room for special events, and a beautiful dining space with a balance of casual and intimacy. Great for friends or a date! Now to the food: my goodness it was divine! I ate too much food and didn't even snag pics! The Brussels sprouts weren't over seasoned, yet flavorful. The salmon was the star of the show! And the risotto was sensational! The wines were amazing! Gorgeous space! Went there for an office Christmas party, and I was very pleasantly surprised by the vibe and decor. Open concept, modern yet inviting. Beautiful and spacious outdoor heated patio! They have a full menu, but our private party had a limited menu. Portions were very small in my opinion, but everyone enjoyed the chicken, salmon, and curry entrees. I also do not drink wine, but the party of about 50 people enjoyed many varieties. Water's Edge even made up custom wine bottles four out company's owners as a group gist, complete with the logo. This place is worth all the hype that it has been getting. First of all, love a place that has a family-friendly atmosphere. I was there with my large family and another large family came in... we were all just vibing. Our waitress, Amber made us feel like we were at home. Second, I love that we went on Saturday at 11:30 AM and we beat the Saturday lunch rush. Third, absolutely love their wines and will be back for more!!! Their wines have unique flavors. My brother had the Mediterranean salad with no protein and he really enjoyed it. It was delicious. The crab cakes seem small but MY GOD they are pretty dense and packed with crab meat. So so good. I would have preferred less onion in it but otherwise, a must try. The tortellini which I failed to take a photo of was also reeeaalllyyy good!!!!!!!! I definitely recommend ordering that if you're a pasta lover. The charcuterie board was pretty. I loved the mixed berry jam. It paired well with their house bread. I was sad that all the meats were pork since I don't eat pork. So I hope that they consider adding a beef option in the future. Everyone enjoyed the meats that were on the board. I also enjoyed most of the wine in the red wine flight. Our server Braden was friendly and attentive. My husband and I got the Fried Crab cakes. The slaw and the lemon vinaigrette were a great pairing and really good. We split the Edge Burger and the Chimichurri Steak and Frites. The burger was good and loved the chimichurri. This was my first time visiting Waters Edge Winery, I loved the decor and ambiance there. I met there with my soror during happy hour and there were only a few other people inside dining, so it was nicely quiet. Sangrias were $5 by the glass and the flatbreads were 1/2 off during happy hour. I started with the White Cranberry Sangria (10/10), Virginian Crab Dip (7/10) I enjoyed the taste, but wasn't overly satisfied as I hoped, BBQ flat bread (8/10) yummy, but needed more toppings, and the Black Raspberry Sangria (10/10). Overall, I enjoyed everything I ordered, but I do wish there were more options to choose from under the happy hour specials though. Went here on for Sunday brunch around noon. As soon as you walk in its like a mini gift shop that sells different cute little items. The menu has a variety of options - breakfast items, seafood, salads, burgers, flatbread dishes, etc. So there is plenty to choose from. I ordered the chicken and waffles which was really delicious. We weren't greeted by a hostess right away so we walked midway into the restaurant until someone assisted us. Loved the booth as we easily fit 6 people. Loved the food as it was pretty delicious. This is my second review after dining here three more times in the past year. Honestly, its location gets five stars since it's easy to meet people who come up from Ghent and down from Ocean View. And the decor is good. That's the main reason we've gone. The wine: I am no expert. My party of four on a recent night shared a flight of white and red wines. It's just not very good, especially for the price. Of the 8 glasses, 3 were not good and 5 ok. We ordered a bottle of Tempranillo (the best of the tasted) after the flight. Gosh, the ones I get from Spain in a store is better. That seems weird. I'm sure they don't want guest wines, but... The food: I've had several things there. Good was a steak salad and a flatbread. Bad was a crab cake, which was presented unattractively and seemed thin on crab. Service each time has been slow but ok. Anyway, they seem to be doing ok and I like the concept. read more

Visited Waters Edge Winery one Saturday morning with my bestie, and we had such a great experience! The inside is really nice, and the natural sunlight made it even better. We started with wine flights--Sangria for me and Red for my friend. The Sangria Flight included Green Apple Sangria, Toasted Coconut Sangria, Big Blueberry Sangria, and Blood Orange Sangria. I'm not usually a fan of coconut, but surprisingly, the Toasted Coconut and Big Blueberry were my favorites! We ordered a few starters to share (which I'm glad we did because the portions were generous!). We had the Norfolk Brussels (no feta), which were flash-fried Brussels sprouts with crispy bacon--absolutely delicious! I came here with friends for my roommate's birthday. We were a fairly large party of 8 people. The restaurant was busy since it was a Saturday night. It definitely got a little loud but not too much. The service was great. Our waitress handled our large table well and we had a good time. I got the strawberry lemonade and it was very good. It didn't taste artificial at all. Our appetizer was the crab dip and it was the perfect option. Seasoned well and had a good amount of crab meat. For my entree I chose the short rib. It was cooked perfectly and the sides were just right. It was just a little underseasoned in my opinion. As far as I remember, the other members in my party enjoyed their food too. Last week I took myself self in a solo date to Waters Edge winery and bistro! As always it was wonderful. I went in the early afternoon on a beautiful Saturday. The restaurant was not crowed at all so I had a choice of seating. Although it was the perfect temp outside , I chose to sit near the window. I started off with the Sangria wine flight. For 22 dollars, I got 4 -3 ounce glasses of Sangria. Toasted coconut, white cranberry, black cherry and blood orange. Or of the 4 I only really liked 2 ( black cherry and blood orange)but I drank them all!! Next I ordered the charcuterie dot one . Perfect amount of you plan on ordering more food. 3 different cheeses, 1 preserve, 1 chimmichurri sauce, toasted bread and fruit. Everything was fresh and delicious. Lastly, I ordered the Norfolk Brussels! Crispy brussel sprouts, feta cheese, hot honey....Perfection. The place is clean , the food is great and the service was good. 5 stars!! Phenomenal service... we ordered the braised beef, Tuna entree and Peach Salmon. Out of all three the peach salmon was first, 2nd was braised beef and 3rd was the Tuna. I had the mimosa flight and my grandma had the Chardonnay. The owner Jason is prior Navy so if you want to support a retired veteran come here. Ambiance was wonderful.. bathrooms were spotless. Wine was DELICIOUS. Our server Alyssa was great... she'd never leave the tables empty handed. Very knowledgeable and exactly what you'd hope for in a server at any restaurant.
