So she took the first order and then my order, it took 18 minutes for my son to receive a single small Philly. I was about to request a refund and reject the order but my son was really hungry. I noticed that Lily gave order number 3 before mine, I was customer number 2 so I asked excuse me, it's been 18 minutes ? she said I'm waiting for the onions, since we order onions on the side, I said just forget about the onions it's been a long waiting, she said rudely: I'm by myself! as if she was doing me a favor in serving food, it's her job! All sandwiches are made to order as you wait. They have many sandwich choices to choose from. Good variety and balance on the menu. Sodas and French fries as well. I first ordered a chicken California with a side of french fries only to take it all the way home and it was wrong. Now I probably should've checked the order before I left but I didn't because I trusted that they knew how to do their job. This review is only based on the food. The service was fine. First let me say that I am a Philadelphia native and I grew up eating cheesesteaks almost everyday of my life. Charley's has a sign that says "Voted #1 Cheesesteak in the world" on their wall - that sign is complete utter bull crap! The cheesesteak they serve is the farthest thing from a cheesesteak, it was some generic stale bread with some thick chunks of disgusting steak and American cheese. It was so bad that I took 2 small bites and threw it into the trash! They have no right to have a sign like that up, it's totally misleading especially for people who have never had an authentic Cheesesteak. I should also add that they do not allow you to add ketchup to your Cheesesteak, they instead offer ketchup packets that aren't even Heinz!! It's some "Charley's" branded Ketchup & it was nasty! Moving on to the cheese fries. The cheese that comes on the fries is some sort of yellow melted cheese, it's not authentic Cheese Whiz that is used in Philadelphia, it was horrible tasting and tasted like watered down cardboard. I sincerely hope this franchise fails because the founders absolutely made sure to spare every expense to offer the taste and experience of a real cheesesteak to their customers. dont know what it is but I just cant find a good tasting cheesesteak anywhere in this city. Something is always off. I guess this place is going to be as good as it gets in the city. Easily the busiest and slowest of them all ( I mean they are making them to order) wormed my way around the clueless dippyshits wandering around, and placed a large order with fries and their lemonade. Lemonade is quite a treat, very sweet but tasty. $18 bucks. Yikes. But large is very filing, too much that I couldve and shouldve ordered a regular. Prob save $2 bucks, not more. Fries were crisp and good, cheesesteak's meat tasted very good too. It comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo (should put a good mustard in there too) mushrooms and onions. I dont do the artificially processed rubber mat/cheese-wiz nasty crapshit version (fucking gross). Nice to try once in a while. See you next year maybe (full 12 months) You absolutely STINK of the grill fumes even through you arent right over it when you order, and it sticks to your clothes whole day. The most un-inspiring cheesesteak sandwich you'll ever have. The steak doesn't appear to really be steak, per se, as my sandwich was made with frozen blocks of thinly sliced processed beef (similar to what you'd find in a grocery store). It's pretty hard to screw up a steak sandwich - and these guys have mastered the art of boring. While my food was cooked fine, at cost of $17 for a combo meal, I would have expected much fresher / higher quality ingredients. A different spin on this review as I am more of a ghost writer for my boyfriend who is visiting for Thanksgiving. We went to the Topanga mall and he was hungry. We saw this big painted red wall that said Best in the World! Great marketing so he had to give it a try as he is self proclaimed Philly cheesesteak fanatic! He said the sandwich was average at best. I miss the Great Steak Escape that used to be at Topanga Mall. This is the replacement, I suppose. It's ok. The chicken is a thin slice that's cooked on the grill. It's really really thin and gets overcooked quickly. It used to be made with cut up pieces of chicken, and it used to be really juicy and delicious. Now, parts of it are the taste and consistency of cardboard. EEwwww. Such a let down. I skipped the fries here and picked some up at Tommy's instead. It made the meal palatable. I placed an order for pick and the receipt said it would be ready within the next 15 mins. Upon arriving a staff member told me wait a couple more minutes for it to be done. Due to current global events I completely understand being understaffed. However, having a staff member tell you to wait an additional 10 minutes and then having them cancel the order and pretend they never got it is ridiculous. I came back to try the kiwi lemonade, but it wasn't what I was expecting. Next time I'm going to try mango. I just love lemonade! (: I got the Philly Cheesesteak and it was just delicious!! This Philly steak sandwich was different from others in that you get to add/select the add-ons, like lettuce, tomato, peppers, unlike traditional what-you-get-is-what-they-give-you.
