Zankou chicken is a solid option for a (used to be quick) decent amount of wait time option. My friend was starving after we took the boys to Brian's shaved ice (a few stores down) and decided for all of us to grab some lunch since we were there. I usually order from the one on Sepulveda and I hardly ever go in, so it was an experience actually going in and ordering. This location is a decent size with plenty of tables to enjoy your meal in the establishment. They also have a patio area outside where we decided to eat since it was a nice sunny day (hence the shaved ice). My kids ordered the kids meal chicken tarna wrap with French fries and I went with the new protein bowl with chicken tarna. The kids wraps were very dry and plain with a tiny bit of sauce and tomatoes in the inside. I think that is done on purpose because kids don't like any toppings on their food. It was super basic though. My food was descent but there are other options for protein bowls elsewhere. The only thing keeping this place alive for me and where I think the 3 Afros are deserved is their signature garlic sauce! There is nothing like it and I want pounds of it to put it on everything. They can bottle it up and sell it right out the store.. this sauce is what keeps my whole family talking and coming back to Zankou when we do go. Give that garlic sauce a try! I like the peace in eating here when I dine in, though I do wish the ambiance was more better. The tables aren't all clean when we drop by but usually there is one we can seat at. I never see the staff wipe down any tables when we come by. Ordering is usually with a wait due to one cashier most of the times. This spot seems heavy for takeout orders. We love the way the chicken is cooked here and usually it's been consistent with the chicken being juicy and tender. Definitely our go-to meals haven't changed. Whenever we crave the garlic sauce, we come to this branch. I just wish the bathrooms were taken care of better.. more often than not, there's a terribly strong smell and no paper towels to use after. Ordered lunch here in a pinch- I was craving hummus and ended up getting a Tarna & Shawerma combo plate with a side of cucumber salad, tzatziki and hummus. Everything was delicious and the portions were very generous. I had so much left over I was able to get two meals out of one plate (excellent value!) I can't believe how rude the staff is. I literally said thank you when ordering and nothing. Then when i got my food, the guy handed me the bag and NO thank you? It's just so off putting and gross when people act like this. The food is fine. But one of the sauces was supposed to be tahini. It's definitely not. I recently visited Zankou Chicken and the food itself was really good. The chicken was flavorful, fresh, and the garlic sauce was definitely the best part. The workers were polite enough, and overall the quality of the food was solid. What really brought the experience down was how slow the food service was. There was literally no one else in the restaurant, so it was confusing why it still took so long to get a simple order out. If the place had been packed, it would've made sense, but with an empty dining area the wait felt unnecessary and frustrating. Like to the point where we just didn't want to eat it. The ingredient quality has gone down and it seems like there isn't attention to preparing the food for taste or appeal for customers. I've had Zankou chicken before, Pasadena location, and it was always on point, today I was craving the chicken because I'm pregnant! I called and they put me on hold for a while so I placed my order online after getting tired of waiting on the phone. I requested my chicken to be cut in 6 pieces, and thy didn't do it! Then I asked for 4 of the garlic sauces because that was my main craving, and of course any of them was in the bag!! The store was not busy at all and the receipt was pretty clear! I manage a big volume restaurant myself and I know how important is for my costumer to have the signature saves that we offer! What can I say about Zankou Chicken other than it never disappoints? I grew up eating it...it was my family's version of "fast food," and it still brings that same comfort and nostalgia. The Tarzana location is the closest to home, and the service here is always friendly and quick. We sat outside on a lovely day and enjoyed the nice weather. I ordered the falafel plate (always ask for it extra crispy...it's the best that way....and I hate a soggy soft falafel), while my husband went for a couple of chicken tarna wraps. I usually remember to take photos for my reviews, but this time we couldn't resist diving right in, and by the time I thought of it, everything was gone! I had a frustrating experience during my pickup. One of the employees repeatedly questioned whether my order was actually mine and assumed I was an Uber Eats driver, even after I clearly explained multiple times that it was my own order and showed proof of the order as well. I was then asked to confirm it again in a way that felt unnecessary and ended up being delayed about 10 minutes during my lunch break. The other night after a very exhausting day I stopped at the Zankou chicken place near the Corbin Bowl. A young man, Nick greeted me with an incredibly welcoming smile and an eagerness to help make my decisions easier. I had thought he was the manager because he was very competent and even tho I was prepared with a list, his recommendations filled in where I hadn't considered the choices I had made. He offered to walk me to my car because I really did buy a large quantity of food. I highly recommend this restaurant not only for the yummy food but, because it's such a rarity these days to have someone care enough to see I was in need of help and he didnt hesitate to be of service. Solid for the most part. Sometimes the chicken is dry, but still flavorful. Once I ordered the hummus and it made my husband and myself very sick (I think it was sitting out too long), but that was just a once time thing I think. The cabbage salad and the fries are always good. The garlic sauce is good, but for some reason the next day it's always very metallic tasting.
