Tip of the hat to Yelp locale Rachel A. for verifying that Charleys is a NE Patriots fan club bar. Charleys was only 10 minutes from our hotel so this was an easy decision. We arrived and was immediately greeted by Rachel and the rest of the Patriot's Club officers. It was great being amongst a hundred or so Pats fans to watch the Thursday night game. We had a great time meeting some of the Pats fans and the icing on the cake was that the Pats won! Charleys is a dive bar with a full liquor license, a patio, pool tables, and TVs everywhere. There is plenty of parking available in this strip mall. We did not eat there but the food smelled and looked delicious. They do have specials nights like their steak special that was very reasonably priced. I was happy that they had Sam Lager available and their mixed drinks were generously poured. All the staff was friendly and even though they were slammed the service was excellent. We had great time here and if our travels take us back to Phoenix we will definitely return. read more

Super bummed about our night. It's Sunday says they are opened till 2 am on several different things. But the woman running the bar tonight at 11:50 said we close soon at "12am". She was not pleasant at all, but had no problem 30 minutes before they closed to gives up the biggest glasses of beer to "slam" in 30. I could not do that. I had also put music on and lost all that play and points. On 5/25 the woman running the bar in the evening makes me not want to go back. I hope she see this and wakes up to be just a minute nicer, wish I knew her name to put it in the review. read more

A dive bar with crazy good food items? Count me in! So happy I stopped by this hidden gem. I tried the Wise Guy Burger and the Krunk Burger; both were amazing! I never had peanut butter and jelly on a burger so I was bit surprised how much I enjoyed it! Highly recommend!! I also tried the French fries, onion rings and the mango habanero wings. The wings were crispy and very saucy (just the way I like them)! The service was great, Chrissy was super sweet. It was nice meeting the chef Billy and getting some BTS footage! The staff here is top notch! This place has darts, two pinball machines, and pool tables. Perfect place to hang out and catch up with friends. read more

This is my return since the next owners took over in August 2023 and we'll, I'm liking the new modern look. It's November 2023 and I'm sure it's not easy and I'm going to get straight to the point ... Service was bad and my steak was over cooked. This is the most waitress I have ever seen here at Charley's and yet it was the worst service. It's not the end of the world, I can tell they are trying. I miss the previous cook, Brian, the waitress couldn't tell me who the new cook was. I am curious to see what the night crowd will be like. I stopped in at Charley's Place while waiting for an oil change at Sun Devil Auto on a Saturday afternoon. Place was clean and had about 6 people sitting at the bar and another half dozen sitting at tables throughout. Sabrina who was tending bar greeted me and introduced herself. She took my drink order and provided me the WiFi password when I asked. After checking out the menu I had asked her recommendations and settled on the Black and Blue Burger. I will truly say one of the best burgers I've ever had. Perfectly cooked and served up very quickly. Great value, great service and great food. Sabrina came back and checked on me regularly, keeping my ice tea filled. Great vibe with locals and regulars. I will definitely stop back again! read more

Didn't try the food so I can't speak to that. But I can say that I'd been here a few times a while back and it's much improved, got some new furnishings and a patio remodel that wraps around with nice tables, chairs & lighting. The inside as well looks much better than before. The service was great; friendly bartenders. This place is full of regulars who are really quite friendly. I am so glad they brought back the kitchen. The cook Billy is amazing and always consistent. The bar tenders are on point, they are friendly, the service is great with hardly any wait time even when it's busy. And the new look is a thousand times better and the extra bonus is when you walk in it doesn't smell like bikers/truckers unwashed backside. Karaoke with the new host Shay is kick ass, plus there's poker,live bands,pool leagues, and steak Wednesday is delish. There's plenty of things to do while you chug those drinks-theres sports on 13 flat screen TVs,NFL ticket,pool tables,darts,video game,pinball,lotto and pull tabs.It's a friendly environment, people are there like you just to have a good time. I have been going to Charley's place for the last 15 years, so the recent changes really threw us. Whoever the owner was after Larry and Diane did great updates to the place, but the staff was not friendly, and the new crowd was off-putting. Really miss the old regulars, but now I am happy some of them stayed gone. Really disappointed Charley wasn't brought back on for Kareoke. He's really one of a kind, and the new Kareoke is just fine but definitely not crowd engaging like Charley was. We love Chrissy, she's just the best! The food quality really is alot better than it used to be. The bathrooms smell great, and everything is much cleaner now. We are really happy to start going regularly again, especially when Chrissy is there. read more

Went to Charley's for the first time Friday night. We were looking last minute for a place to go karaoke. We get there and there's a good vibe. Granted there was one group that was kinda rowdy but Charley the karaoke host kept it fun. All in all, great place to go sing a few tunes. read more

I have passed by this place a million times and never paid attention. I was looking for somewhere to get a nice burger, fries and a couple shots of whiskey. Found it on YELP.This place did not disappoint! It was like what I would make at home only I didn't have to cook. A nice generous pour of Wild Turkey too. I was taken back to the 70's with everything about this place, including the prices. Oh how I miss the 70's, thanks for transporting me back. What a great place. We used them for stop on a benefit ride and they were excellent! So accommodating! Food was excellent!

Charley's Place is a quaint little neighborhood bar, with good food, amazing owners and just a welcoming feel. Definitely a 'come as you are' bar, so you feel comfortable in shorts and a tank, or a dressy outfit. Karaoke Friday and Saturday nights and a quick game of Music Bingo before the singing commences on Saturday. The karaoke host is great and always quick with some jokes. I've been going to Charley's for years now and my entire family has come with me. All 5 of my kids have come in for their 21st birthdays and are always greeted with smiles and a birthday shot. I honestly can't say enough good things about this place! read more

DO NOT GO TO CHARLEY'S PLACE ¡¡¡*EVER*!!! * Channel 5's "Dirty Dining" reports Maricopa County Enviornmental Services (that's the Maricopa County Health Department) cited *NINE CRITICAL VIOLATIONS AT CHARLEY'S NINE. 9! NINE! Again, a shame Yelp doesn't allow "no stars". When a restaurant like Charley's Place has committed so many violations they are threatened by the Health Dept with forcible closing, its serious. Nine violations are serious. I tend to read these weekly and I'm telling you, in 10 years I think the record was seven, 7 critical violations. That occurs once, twice. Charley's Place had 9. NINE! It was a good $12 Sat Night Steak Special that I'm never going back for. EVER! I don't just feel deceived - I WAS deceived -- I FEEL VIOLATED. This a$$hole represented himself as a professional restaurateur and yet here I was eating in the midst of NINE critical health code violations. I could vomit right now. Hey, Bill: The Maricopa County Environmental Services reported that you "had rat traps in the kitchen". Not only is that against the law, it shows that you're too cheap to hire a professional exterminator. Or you don't care. Both choices are really, really bad. So, If that's how you kept the price of the Saturday night special at $12, I would've rather paid $12.50, you lying jerk. A business professor of mine once said the satisfied customer tries to tell 20 people; a DISSATISFIED customer WILL tell 200 people * NEVER GOING BACK. * EVER. * UGH. The specials just keep coming, along with the regular menu. Pool table are on one side of the bar so you can really get down without everyone walking around your table. Charley's place is a place my father continues to frequent every week and sing so I thought I would check it out. The amount of friendliness and closeness the I can feel is great. The bartender knows who I am when I walk in and to me that feel like it could come right out of a sitcom. I could care less about any health violations. Human have lived in the worst conditions and still lived .... The beer is cold and the people are nice ! What's more too like ? The owner is awesome too . Always good food, inexpensive and fun to play free pool when hanging out at Charley's Place. The only complaint, how do we order. Since were a family do we all still go up to the bar? Or do we seat our self and wait for someone to take our order which doesn't end up happening. My husband goes up and asks, and what do we get? A lecture that they are not a food bar, dinner place to eat nor a cherry Marciano kind a bar but a bar, bar. Ok. I decided to be nice after all, they meet my steak and red wine on a cheap night thrill, yeah it's a give and take but as long as I get mine I will give. And I give this place three stars. This is my go-to hang out on the weekends. There is karaoke Thursday through Sunday nights, hosted by Charley (not the bar's owner, he calls himself the mascot). There is also name that tune on Saturday night (SO not my thing, but some people love it). As I have said previously, I'm not an inbiber of alcohol, but I've heard no complaints about the prices here. They have great parties on all the big holidays. It's really fun! As for the atmosphere, it's hard to pin down. It's one part biker bar, one part sports bar, one part karaoke bar, one part pool and dart hall, and the rest is not easy to describe. Went for the first time to hear a co-worker sing and sing myself. Had a steak and shrimp dinner - nothing to write home about but not bad either. The wait staff seemed ambivalent about whether they'd serve us or not. What blew me up was the karaoke host. While he was decent most of the night (despite starting late and playing a bunch of dance crap in the middle) after midnite, he took it into his head to blow up the rotation! He let a bunch of late comers (after 1a) come in to sing instead of taking care of the people who'd been there all night, making the bar money. When it was over, I went over to give him a piece of my mind but he kept himself surrounded with people so I couldn't. Avoid this place, there are much better sports bars to be in that even feature racing. And don't other with karaoke there obviously, the clown running it wants to do what ever makes HIM happy instead of doing it right. This is a biker "Steelers Country" bar. Super friendly place with karaoke on Thursday- Sunday nights at 9:00pm, til close. Pool tables. A patio. Chill crowd from young to old. Good bar food with specials. The drinks are strong and inexpensive and if you don't play nice at least you do not have to worry about being escorted out back like many biker bars, I think.
