Flavors in the Park's - Prickly Pear Lemonade $5.95 plus tax. (Ice, water, lemonade and prickly pear syrup (possibly more).

I'M TOO WEARY TO RETURN DUE TO AN UNEXPECTED EXPERIENCE. Read on to find out. I decided to give this place a try as I heard raving reviews by mouth. I had not eaten in the morning because my sister date mentioned this place was amazing so I only drank water up until our early brunch. (This is important to know later).. Upon entering I noticed the inside was small. I'd describe this place as Quaint & Cozy with a Mexican upscale twist. Seating provided a great talking space for two to four guests per table depending on where you'd sit. There was also outdoor seating which offers a nice breeze without the extreme heat as umbrellas protect with shading. The waitress was a young gal who was kind, patient and thoughtful. She offered a small tasting of their Cafe which I was blown away by. Literally this was the most Beautiful coffee flavoring with the perfect hint of cinnamon and the best part - no added sugar needed when using their cream. Hands down - it was the best l've had in a LONG WHILE and it amazingly brought back beautiful memories of my childhood with my Nana. I also opted to try their Prickly Pear Lemonade which was $5.95 plus tax. That was also a symphony of flavor. Not too tart and somewhat sweet. It was topped with a lemon wedge & floral. I did decid to give it time to sit on the table top to allow the ice to melt a bit & then I stirred in the melted watered ice. It was perfect once that occurred. (I've personally cut down on artificial sugar in my diet - so having this drink could have just been my pallet being over sensitive to the sweetness). Overall - it was great! I was impressed and could not wait to try their food so I ordered the Alebrijes Chilaquiles: Fresh corn tortilla chips tossed in 1/2 red guajillo & 1/2 salsa verde. 2 eggs. Topped with cilantro & red onion. Crema and queso fresco on the side w/added Pulled Pork. This cost $17 plus tax. Upon food arrival - I noticed my food was not steaming hot (the way l prefer) but it wasn't super cold either. The chips were soft yet still crunchy all the way through my meal which offered a nice textured balance. Both red and green were delicious and the eggs were cooked exactly as ordered (over medium). The food was balanced amazingly and needed no additional seasonings. HERE'S WHERE THINGS GO SOUTH: The pork gave me issue. I'm a stickler about cleaning out or rendering the fat from pork... so as I ate - I came across pork fat in my mouth that I removed which was sticky and bouncy. Personally this was not my favorite experience. I then attempted to sift through the rest of the pork on my plate to execute a removal of the fat before eating. Once that occurred - I was able to enjoy my meal. Finally when I was finished - something felt off.. I was a bit bloated. So I decided after my meal to go for a walk. This helped a bit - but I couldn't eat for the rest of the day.. bloat insisted so instead I opted for sips of water throughout remainder of the day/evening. FOOD POISONING! I'm Certified in Sanitation, Nutrition and Have Licensing for Food and More... Approx 6 hours later - my journey of food poisoning began... I was experiencing light headedness, palpitations and my stomach began to swirl. I still felt bloated and then nauseated beyond control. My stomach began cramping immensely. I began to burp uncontrollably- then I started to dry heave, so I ran to the bathroom where I began projectile vomiting. As brunch was coming out of my mouth - I then began experiencing diarrhea. It was a literal nightmare. For the remainder of the night by body was shaking and doing everything and anything to get rid of the brunch I had hours before until it was all out. I'm writing this explanation because I wouldn't want this to happen to anyone else ever! Also, it's important to share my experience in hopes that someone in Management or Ownership would make proper arrangements to keep Food safety & Sanitation at the forefront to protect consumers from a future horrible experience. Hopefully after reading this: Your experience at Flavors in the Park would be a better one.

Updating to include a picture of the South of the Border shrimp omelette. Sooo good!

    South Of The Border

Let me confess something up front: I intended to take photos. The colors, the plating, the rustic charm of it all--this dish deserved to be captured. But as the scent of guajillo and roasted pepper reached me, and the sizzle of perfectly-seared chorizo echoed off the plate, instinct took over. Fork in hand, I dove in. Photos forgotten. Regrets? None. Every so often, a dish comes along that redefines what a familiar flavor profile can be--not by reinventing the wheel, but by tightening every spoke. The "South of the Border I" is just such a dish. With a simple yet inspired adjustment--chorizo as the protein, and beans served on the side in place of the predictable potatoes or fruit--this brunch offering doesn't just satisfy; it asserts itself with quiet confidence and bold flavor. The plate itself is a visual overture. Roasted red peppers tumble over a bed of savory textures, tied together by a velvety guajillo sauce that's smoky, warm, and just a hint floral. Bright pico de gallo adds contrast and crunch, while the teta cheese--a delightfully salty and creamy surprise--anchors the dish in richness. A dollop of sour cream crowns the ensemble, bringing balance and a cool whisper of tang. But it's the chorizo that commands attention: spiced just right, neither overwhelming nor timid, with a rustic sear that gives it character and bite. It folds into the other elements beautifully, adding depth and a kick of heat that the rest of the plate welcomes with open arms. Now, about those beans. Served on the side, they might seem like an afterthought--until you take a bite. Slow-cooked and lovingly seasoned, they're earthy, velvety, and subtly spiced, offering a counterpoint to the bolder flavors on the main plate. Where potatoes might have weighed the dish down or fruit might have felt dissonant, the beans bring cohesion. They are the quiet co-star that lets the chorizo shine while enriching the overall experience.

Absolutely love this restaurant. Super friendly and welcoming staff. The tacos were delicious and refreshing. Trust me. They're super nachos...YUMM. The chilaquiles... unbelievably tasty. Do not forget to save room for desserts. I can't really pick a favorite because all choices were very stunning and mouthwatering delicious.

We were actually looking for a different restaurant with a breakfast buffet that ended up closing down so we came here. It had more of a Panera Bread cafe type-feel than a regular restaurant. The service was excellent and the waistaff friendlyand attentive. We thought the burritos could have been bigger for the price they were charging and the sausage with the breakfast was not typical breakfast sausage. They provided a free dessert for one of our group members that was celebrating a birthday and asked if we wanted happy birthday to be sung, which we did not, so we appreciated that they asked. Overall, a good experience.

Watched a video on Instagram and visit the place. First time in Glendale as well. Interesting neighborhood, went to flavors in the park for brunch. Had the chillaquiles for the first time. Loved it. I think you get choices for the sauce. Had the green and red sauce mix. It almost like loaded crunchy tacos with a lot of sauce, very flavorful. We even had the omelette with chicken. First time having omelette with chicken as well. The chicken was really tender. It had perfect amount of cheese and the spinach in it made it a perfect mix. I'd highly recommend the house potatoes instead of the fruit. It's worth trying it. To top it off had the banana bourbon flambe. Highly recommend trying it. It was not only very tasty but the whole experience was great. Service was good and fast. The server was great. The day we went in it wasn't too crowded but good crowd and casual dine in. They also have outdoor seating if the weather is good. Definitely would like to go again.

Awful my glass was filthy it was far too loud. I didn't eat anything after that - gross. I'd evaluate your utensils and glasses before you use them. The gentleman working the front door was nice.

Our server was SOOO amazing. He went above and beyond recommending food, honest with the recommends , and was very attentive. We went at a slow time at night, but still! The food was , we had; the street corn, flautas (recommended, not on the menu), chicken quesadilla, chicken panini w/salad, and the cheese fondu. Was all GREAT. Highly recommend. If we're ever back in the area we'll be stopping by!

The bartender was friendly and attentive, and took our order quickly. By the time we arrived they had already sold out of the bone marrow small plate and the tomahawk steak. Totally understandable for the last seating of the night, but those were two of the dishes we were really looking forward to trying. The main reason for 1 less star. It's a cool little spot for drinks and a gourmet bite. The kitchen, bar, and seating area are fairly compact. Even though the kitchen is ventilated, you can still feel a bit of the heat and smoke coming off the grill. We ordered the grilled romaine salad (they do charge a small upcharge if you split plates), along with the bao buns and the wagyu meatballs. Everything was well presented, tasty. Overall, a great option for the west side if you're looking for elevated bar bites and good drinks. My tip: grab an earlier reservation if you can, so you have a better chance at the popular dishes before they sell out.

We stood waiting for approximately 25 minutes while multiple servers walked past us without acknowledging us. After waiting, we finally asked if we could have a table. I even attempted to get the attention of an employee at the front desk and was completely ignored. There was little noise and not many customers present, so I am confident he heard me. After being told we could sit, no one brought us menus. We waited another 15-20 minutes before grabbing menus ourselves, only to discover they were the wrong ones. Shortly afterward, staff brought us the correct menus, which leads me to believe they noticed the mistake but had not initially assisted us. When we sat down, there were old cups left on the table. We requested clean cups, and while new waters were brought out, they were served in cups that appeared dirty and did not belong to us. I noticed black particles floating in my water, which was extremely concerning. We then requested plastic cups instead. Unfortunately, the issues continued when our food arrived. There was a strand of hair on one of the burgers. When we informed our server, he completely brushed off our concern and instead focused on discussing another item that was missing from our order. A few minutes later, he returned with fries, and we had to explain again that there was hair on the burger. He took the burger away but never apologized, offered a replacement, or showed any concern regarding the issue. As paying customers, we expected basic hospitality, cleanliness, and customer service. I could understand delays if the restaurant had been busy, but there were very few people there at the time. The lack of attention, poor service, cleanliness concerns, and dismissive response to finding hair in our food made for an extremely unpleasant experience. I am highly disappointed and disgusted by the treatment we received and hope management takes these concerns seriously to improve the experience for future customers.

Our waitress was super knowledgeable and gave great recommendations. The spot is small and chic. It's very intimate dining so you'll be sitting close to the table next to you. Luckily, it's a quiet and calm space, so no need to worry about noise. The food was incredible. The salmon crudo was possibly the best crudo I have ever had in my entire life. So fresh and the flavors were balanced to perfection. The risotto changed my life... it was so delicious I couldn't even believe it. The only thing I would recommend skipping was the octopus tostada - not my favorite and a little fishy for my liking. Personal preference of course! The duck tasted great and was beautifully presented, but it wasn't my favorite. Again, I'm not a huge meat eater so take my advice on this one with a grain of salt. To start, the menu is a bit puzzling. It's kind of like a handful of Asian-inspired dishes, a handful of Mexican/South American, and a handful of French or New American. But there's not enough of each to chart a course through one type of cuisine. So, basically you're gonna have a cultural melange meal. Hamachi crudo was really good and fairly unique. The halibut was excellently prepared but not particularly innovative in any way I could tell. Zucchini had goat cheese, which wasn't immediately clear from the description, so I didn't enjoy the rude surprise I got when I took my first bite, and didn't eat anymore, as I really despise the stuff. So that was a waste. Not a dig on the dish, just a personal thing I wish I had more notice of. There were other issues though. The wine list was exceptionally small, They were out of the bread, which is supposedly a must-try. And then we were going to get the steak but the folks next to us advised against it, showing their cut that had zero fat. They said it was leather. On that point, the tables are SUPER CLOSE. Like, a couple inches apart. You hear everything and almost can't avoid getting entwined into others' conversation. We liked the people we were next to, but be aware that it's an unintentionally awkward communal experience that's not well-suited to a date night. The service was pretty good, they put out a nice printed greeting with the reservation name, and give you a sparkling wine toast. But considering the price and overall experience we had, I'd pass and not come back.
