What a great spot that I didn't have pop up on any of my searches. This was my 2nd trip working remote from Denver. Last time, in preparation this time, I searched great bars and restaurants of all kinds. Maybe I never searched piano bar this time. We were at one spot hen the bartender recommended Charlie Browns. I was surprised that was a place called that, so we had to go. We popped in and sure enough, It was Charlie Brown's. And there was a guy just starting a set on piano. we got a couple spots on the bar. There was a big game on and the Oscars were starting, but our luck, they had both on the couple TV's they had. We had a great time, excellent classic nice bar vibes. I took food to go, a brat and side. It was plenty good, and I should, the service was great too. What's not to like about Charlie Brown's? I've been coming here for decades! The food is top notch and my usual I usual is the 20oz Prime Rib with a cheese cake for dessert. They are fabulous! The service is always on point and pretty quick. The timing seems to be five star since my entree never arrives before my salad is finished. The ambiance is barroom cheerful! People breaking out in song when the pianist hits a favorite! Tonight was epic! Pink Pony Club and Mr. Bright Side had the bar singing! Charlie Brown's feels like a time capsule, and I mean that as a compliment. It's the kind of place where you can walk in once and still get treated like you belong. This place is old-school in the best way: wood, regulars, and actual personality...like it never got the memo that everything has to be a concept. I've been twice and the service is the reason I'll keep rooting for this place. Thursday night I hung out at the bar with a friend and Amber treated us like we'd been coming in for a decade. First visit, zero awkwardness. She even remembered me when I left on my second visit, which sounds small, but in 2026 that's basically a love language. Food is classic diner comfort with a "something for everyone" menu, burritos to prime rib, and the portions are generous. Thursday I got the gyro plate. It starts with a huge Greek salad (sadly with a thick and gelatinous industrial Italian dressing) and then a plate of gyro meat, pita, and full-on diner mashed potatoes and gravy. Comfort level: high. Only problem: the gyro was absolutely buried under onions. I like onions, I'm Greek, but this was "did an onion truck overturn back there?" Sunday was a Broncos game day with a group of friends and our server kept us taken care of the whole game. I had the chicken fajitas skillet for brunch. This was a mountain of hash browns layered with oregano-y flavored chicken and veggies, topped with two over-easy eggs. Honestly...delicious. One of our group ordered what I call "the Golden Food Group": the fried-brown sampler situation (mushrooms, chicken, poppers, the whole delicious brown universe). He was happy and there was plenty to pass around. Now for the part where I need Charlie Brown's to listen up: the smoke. It's coming in from the enclosed patio (plastic + sliding doors), and every time someone opens that door the cigarette smoke rolls through the restaurant like a smothering London fog. It's not a faint whiff. It's a full takeover. I asked about it and basically got "we're balancing the [chain-smoking] regulars with everyone else." I get loyalty. But this isn't a balance, it's a hostage negotiation. Also: the men's bathroom is outdated, unheated, smelly, and feels dirty. That's an easy fix compared to the smoke, but it matters. I want to give Charlie Browns a higher rating because the people are great and the vibe is authentic. But the smoke situation drags everything down. Fix that, and you've got a true Denver classic that can keep dishing out diner style comfort food for many more years. read more

This place is a neighborhood gem. We went in for a cocktail while walking home from downtown. It was our first time there. We could hear the piano and the sing-along in the other room. It sounded fun. Our drinks were perfect and the decor is a pretty amazing bunch of collectibles. The crowd and the bartenders were really nice. We stopped in here on my birthday because I love the piano and we wanted to check out the nightly piano playing. We had an AMAZING time. We got there around 830pm and stayed for a couple hours. We didn't have food. We got there when one player was finishing and another came on. Both of them sung me happy birthday which was really nice. The second one allowed me to sing along to Queen, which totally made my night. He also let me request 4 songs in a row. He definitely humored me and made my birthday evening amazing! A Denver classic. I have been coming here for over 20 years. I moved down South, so I can not go there as often as I used to. In the last month, I have had dinner and brunch there. The food is very consistent, and I love the variety of classic American, Greek, Mexican, Italian, and Pizza Options. This is one of the last places in Denver that offers reasonable prices on food and drink. You can enjoy yourself all night without worrying about the bill being more than your car payment. The pig roasts on Friday during summer are delicious, and the piano bar every night is tremendous fun. There are TVs to watch sports. The classic booze bottle collection is incredible.. I have been a long time patron of Charlie Brown's Bar. It's always a happening place and is known for its food and good times. The piano bar is fun to hang around and get a quick song in. Happy hour runs from 4-7 most days and is a steal with their buy one, get one deal. We went here on a Friday after happy hour and found a table. At around 8pm, there was a plethora of tables available as the happy hour crowd dispersed. Our waitress greeted us and took our order for food and drink, within a reasonable time. And then it's as if time stopped and we waited an eternity for our food. While it was busy for a Friday as one would expect, at the 40 minute mark, I asked about our food order. With no apology, I was just told that the kitchen had a lot of tickets. Our food came out about 10 minutes later and was hot and delish. Worth a little bit of a wait? Yes. I have been to Charlie Brown's before for HH and know this place can get packed. We went after HH to grab a bite, so there were plenty of open tables. Our server greeted us quickly, but we had to ask for a regular menu. Our party had two of us, and our orders were pretty simple. Mine was a gyro sandwich with fries. Although the live piano music and crooners, who seemed to be regulars, were entertaining, our wait for food was not. After forty minutes, we asked our server if she had an estimate. Her response was, "The kitchen has all the tickets." I get it. That is standard since that is where food tickets go; however, she never apologized or came to check in with us during our wait. PARKING - has a designated alley that has a few parking spots. AMBIANCE - Cute little spot that I see can accommodate different ambiances. Outside can be more sports bar like. Inside could feel like a pub or even like a romantic restaurant lounge. I think it depends on what's going on that day/night. We came in for a Sunday dinner and they had a piano player. Today I came here for a quick bite to eat. I was craving a hamburger and wanted to go to another hamburger spot but they had terrible reviews. In the past my friends and I would meet up at Charlie Brown's for happy hour and for the late night happy hour. There is still a piano playing light well known melodies. People can tip the piano player and may be able to request a song. For years I didn't step foot in this place. Three months ago I wandered in during a walk after four years of not going there. For happy hour I ordered the house Chardonnay which I received two glasses of. The Chardonnay was decent. For dinner I couldn't decide between the Carne Asada fries and a hamburger. I ended up ordering a mushroom Swiss burger and added bacon for an extra two dollars. The hamburger came with fries, veggies, and I asked for ranch to go with my fries instead of ketchup. The servers took forever even though it wasn't very busy. After I finished my food I got the bill and it came out to $26.40. The burger was all right but needed more flavor. I didn't even taste the mushrooms on the burger until the very last bite. Overall I will not be eating here again but I will be back for happy hour. read more

It's so hard not to be romantic about this bar. I first moved to cap hill in June 2023 and this was the first local place I visited. I have no clue how I accidentally stumbled upon the best hangout in Denver on night #1 but here we are, a year later, and I still can't believe this place exists. If you haven't been here, the best way to describe it is that it has all the personality and camaraderie of a sitcom cast's prime hangout spot. CBs is the bar in Cheers. CBs is the coffee shop in Friends. Instead of sitcom banter, everyone sits around a piano for hours singing together in a cozy, dim-lit room. All of my fondest memories in Denver have taken place around the CBs piano, some of my closest friends I've made were strangers sitting across from me at CBs. The place reminds of a an "adult" restaurant in the 80s that my parents brought me to because I was finally old enough. It's dark. There's a lounge. There's a piano player. Sometimes people try and sing with the piano player. Sometimes they try to sing after they've had a few drinks. It's not a bad thing. I wanted to let you know, because if you're inside, there's a good chance you're going to hear what's happening in the lounge. The menu is full of normal basic American restaurant dishes. Burgers, sandwiches, salads and wraps. There are Greek and Mexican-specialty sections, but I didn't look at them too hard. I stayed a bit basic. I ordered a French Dip and a baked potato. Both were perfectly acceptable, I would order them again. I would also wash them down with a delicious Colorado-brewed adult beverage again, too. Service was a-ok. The restaurant was short staffed, so it took a little bit to get some questions answered. No worries, though. Everything worked out and we enjoyed our visit. 3.5 Stars. Could be really great, but there was this one old man eating chicken fingers at the piano who was really, really not good at singing but was singing really loud, and he went on and on the whole time we were there. I went to put in a song to the piano player, "My One and Only Love", and the pianist played it beautifully. Unfortunately, even though the old man had never heard the song, he decided he'd pull it up on his phone and try to sing along.... (Facepalm). I've come here before I moved to Denver and remember it being kinda divey and old school inside, but I don't mind that! I always planned another visit. Last night I finally went, but I don't plan on ever going back. I was even the one who pushed the group I was with to go to Charlie Brown's instead of another place we passed along the way as we walked. That won't happen again. The server was very nice, we just had drinks and appetizers, all was fine there. The problem came with the bill. The server said she would not split our bills up. If I had known this, I could have and would have gone to the bar and just purchased my own drinks (I did not order food). The next issue was that they do not itemize ANYTHING on the bill. Each entry was titled "T2" and then a dollar amount. Customers have zero idea of what they're being charged. This makes it impossible to check your bills to ensure you've been charged correctly. If I had to guess, I see errors in my bills probably 25% to 30% of the time here in Denver. It happens so often, I really can't believe it. Mistakes happen, I get that, and as a server, I made mistakes here and there, too. Not 30% of the time, but it does happen -- which is exactly why the person paying should have at least a chance to understand and review what they're being charged for. Also, a party of people usually isn't paying for everyone else. People pay their own ways quite often. Restaurants should be prepared for that reality of life and their guests. That server who I complimented earlier and who I tipped well, I told her multiple times what my two drinks were and she could have easily, simply responded to me and told me the price of each drink. But she wouldn't, she didn't, she just acted helpless and walked away after the bill got dumped off. She just wants her money, not to help or be a great worker. In retrospect, I definitely should not have given as good of a tip as I did. They also have a covered patio, but they give that entire space to smokers. Gross. read more

I think I've found my new favorite place to drink in Denver, now this place is super cool. I recently came here to have drinks with a friend and it was super nostalgic, it was like a mix between an old English pub, and a classic restaurant you'd find in Hollywood. We sat in the outside area and it was amazing, the piano was a super nice touch. I remember hearing the pianist play Tiny Dancer by Elton John, that was pretty badass! Our waitress was super cool, I don't remember her name but she made the experience top notch for us! The detuned piano isn't to be Tom Waits ironic; it's just outta tune ;) They have a varied menu that we'll have to try next time. We were there for the drinks, the ambiance, & the history. Five stars for the history alone; and the drinks were not expensive. Service was a little bit harried. Given the location and convenience, I can see heading there more than a few times in the future. After reading a few other reviews, it seems like Charlie Brown's is a major spot for locals, and it definitely feels that way. To be fair, it was a local that took me here one evening for a nightcap, and we had a decent time. We were seated in the back, behind the bar, and enjoyed a few martinis while listening to the live piano on the other side of the room. The wait staff was too busy to be more attentive than they were, with so many customers at that time of night. I'm glad the business is doing well! At first I was most excited about the piano, but the music (and singing) wasn't very stimulating... Maybe I needed more martinis. It did start a conversation with my friend about our favorite piano bars across the country. Because my friend lives so close, it's likely we'll come here again, whether for drinks or food as well. I like versatile bars that host brunch, dinner, entertainment, etc. They clearly work hard to keep the place open and engaging, no matter what your interest is.
