The service is absolutely horrendous at City Park Tavern! Whether you're there for golf or just food/drinks, all of the bartenders & most of the servers could care less about your presence. Even if you're grabbing a drink to go on the course, they're just rushed & not bothered with "customer service". If you're not golfing, you can expect to get served last, and even if you're golfing, you're a bother to them. Good luck getting served if you're planning to sit on the patio... it's one of the prettiest views of Denver & the front range mountains, but damn if you'll actually get service within 15 minutes of sitting. There's sometimes a girl bussing tables but she can't serve. Why doesn't she become a server & each server be responsible for bussing their own tables? Anyhow- I love the location & want so bad to support, but it's just a crapshoot to get any service on any day/time. I golf here a lot & have tried to come on non-golf days too, and I'm finally throwing in the towel. No mas. :( read more

My mom took my son for lunch a few months ago, and we had visited several times before for lunch as we live nearby. They waited for over 25 minutes with no one stopping by to bring water or take their order. When my Mom flagged down a waitress, they told her that they always serve the golfers first. Yikes. They didn't bother to ask if my Mom and my son had just come from the driving range, etc. it didn't matter. They didn't look like golfers and were at the bottom of the list. read more

The margarita was watery and disappointing and the service left much to be desired but the views of the city and mountains over the golf course and the sweet potato fries saved the day. These sweet potato fries will live rent free in my head. We went without the kids but the laid back atmosphere with spread out tables would have made this a family friendly option to bring the kids. read more

best views in denver! decent food, full bar with 12 beers on draft, speedy service from really nice servers (although a little short staffed at times). the tuna melt is awesome, the mexican hamburger with green chile is my fave. grilled salmon and fish and chips are both excellent. read more

We waited 30 - 40 minutes to be acknowledged by a server after sitting down despite having two servers walk by us half a dozen times. Everyone on the patio was equally miffed as to why the serving staff were so intentionally careless and MIA. It takes intention and genuine spite to actively disregard guests in the manner we saw. They were understaffed (for sure) and I feel the few servers manning the restaurant were resentful about it and took it out on its guests. Doesn't matter how good the food is (it's good without being great), how great the view is (it's a solid view)... if your service is legitimately the worst a person could offer... you get one star. We've been here before (before they hiked the price up 15-20% and when there was better service) and this is truly a disappointing turn. read more

Looking for a spot for a snack, a drink and a view, we made a pit stop here to satisfy our curiosity finally as it made sense for us. Wowza. The quality is poor on the wine and mixed drinks here, think stadium quality with stadium prices but marketed as being better than that. The beer was beer. That was the most successful of the drinks we tried because this vendor only chills the beer. The appetizers we tried gave us no reason to return. They were expensive and not worthy of the calories. This explains why it was so easy to get a prime seat here during prime time on a prime day. This isn't even a good spot for a casual drink and some snacks unless you are in shackles at a stadium event. Yikes. We wondered if this place is run by Aramark or some similar type of food service company that is designed to expend the least amount of effort on all fronts. This is a great (kinda still 'secret') golf course patio restaurant. You can probably already guess most of the menu: Cobb salad, Caesar Salad, burgers, wraps, BLTs, French Dip. No surprises, other than the food is really good. The steak bits were outstanding. Full bar: beer, Arnold Palmers, John Dalys, etc. They could've used another server, but it was 82º & sunny on their patio today. This year Denver opened up the City Park Tavern at the new entrance to the City Park Golf Course on 23rd Ave across from one of the entrances to the Denver Zoo. The view from the restaurant alone is worth 5 stars. Truly a great place to watch the sunset over the City and the mountains. The only problem with that suggestion is that the place closes at 6 p.m. The good news however is that they say they're open all year round so bring a jacket for winter time sunset viewing (or just be boring and sit inside the all glass western-facing wall:). Today we sat outside and had good to very good sandwiches and sides. Mine a BLAT with onion rings was 3.5-4 stars as was my dining partner's chicken wrap with fries. Nice server who was a bit crushed by all the outside tables, but the place is definitely an option in that part of town these days and way better than the old snack bar / restaurant for the course that used to be at the corner of 26th and Josephine. Surprisingly good! A friend and I stopped here for a drink and app after a walk through City Park. The menu is full of your casual standards - chicken caesar salad, burgers, wraps - so they're really not trying to push the bounds on food, but I was pleasantly surprised by the chicken quesadilla we ordered to share. The chicken was seasoned with a flavorful marinade that turned what can be a very bland bar basic into something quite tasty and, dare I say, above par. The service was a bit taciturn for my preference but the location made up for it. This is a hidden gem of a spot to take out of towners for an excellent view of the mountains and the Denver city skyline without a bougie price tag. read more

Beautiful views, nice bar, good menu. I got the turkey reuben, my hubs got the burrito, both very tasty. Always love the option of sweet potato fries on the side. I was almost expecting more of a brunch menu on a sunday after golfing, it would be nice to add in a few breakfast-y items! Also, there are 6 tops in the dining area which is odd to me because most of the time golfing you are in a group of 4. For those of you who are unaware, City Park was completely redone over the last two years and is basically a new course. Well, right in the middle is the new clubhouse, which is home to the City Park Tavern. This is a terrific patio setting with views looking downtown. Man - How do you beat eating lunch after a nice morning of golf? This spot had a nice little brunch menu and the $10.95 Breakfast Burrito was absolutely HUGE. Lots of Green Chile sauce. Couple this with a Bloody Mary and it makes for a pleasant food coma. The rest of the breakfast menu seemed pretty standard. I saw Eggs Benedict... another brunch favorite. Pretty sure that they have a full bar. I saw plenty of beer being drank. I didn't have a chance to look at the lunch/dinner menu. It also looked like there was plenty of space inside for colder weather. Great addition to the Denver Golf scene. I could totally see coming even on a day I didn't golf. read more

This place is great for what it is; a convenient spot to grab a drink and/or bite after golfing. A country club experience it is not. I ordered a burger and fries, and it was decent. The fries were very good. I like that they offer gluten-free buns, but the meat was dry and so-so. It was only $12, and It was good for a $12 burger. It wasn't anything special, but I would go back again. I'll bet their sandwiches are better. The main reason I would go here again is that the view is amazing, and the air conditioning was cranked up on a hot July afternoon. Having a place to sit in the cold and enjoy the view of the beautiful course was perfect. Would I go here if I weren't golfing? No. It is a very nice end to a game though. read more

Come for the view, not the food. The view and vibe from the patio is fantastic, especially on a warm day when you want to stay outside. If you're in the area, and want a place to sip on a drink or catch up over an appetizers, this is a great option. Just don't expect anything greater than "airport restaurant" quality food. You'll have your standard American restaurant pick of burgers, salads, and sandwiches. They'll all be fine. If you're not here for the food, it'll totally pass! Went here for Prime Rib Night (Thursday) We were told that they sell out and they get pretty crowded. Arrived at 5:00, party of 6. Waited about 15 min then seated. The place is not fancy. Service was great and very friendly. Food was pretty good. Glad we went. Prime Rib is served on Thursdays in the winter. I also learned that they have Fish Fry on Fridays. Waitress said that fish fry will end in a few weeks (maybe thru March). Then golf season picks up and they are back to no daily specials. City Park Tavern(golf) has a great view, decent prices, decent food. Also a great patio once the weather warms up! Love supporting our Local institutions!!! read more

I give it 5 stars for a public golf course restaurant. I have eaten at at least 20 public golf course restaurants in the Denver area in the last 3 years and the food at the City Park tavern is by far the best. I have eaten the beef tacos, the bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato sandwich and the club sandwich. All are good enough for me to go there for lunch even if I was not playing golf. I had my retirement party here in July, and it was fabulous! Megan was great to work with, the room setup was perfect, and the appetizers were delicious.
