Charlie makes the other shops I've been to look like amateurs. I don't post reviews unless the business made a big impact on me so If you want talented, original, creative, inspiring work done, take it to Charlie. He took my ideas of what I wanted and made them 1000x better! Other artist I've asked for creative ideas to help me put on paper what I visioned could have cared less about helping out and just wanted to get people in and out to make that money. Charlie took the time to learn about my likes and built a masterpiece that continues on today. After visiting other shops and having work done else where I'm impressed with his level of class and artistic abilities. This guy is the real deal! It was my first piece, a geometric quarter sleeve, and I had some complex elements. Not being an artist I wanted to find someone who could take my idea and bring it to life, while also improving upon it. Charlie did just that! I had three sessions for a total of 16 hours, which doesn't include all of the design work. He took the time to understand what I wanted and was also ok when I postponed the first session since I didn't feel the design was ready. Not to mention he did all of this with one arm; he had shoulder surgery the week before my second session. Dedicated and passionate to say the least! My wife was also very impressed and ended up getting a tattoo with Charlie as well. Spending so much time in his shop, we got to feel the culture of the group. Having never before been to a tattoo shop, I was hesitant and unsure of what to expect. My wife wanted something to memorialize her mother after losing her and so after researching here, on Google, Facebook, etc., Charlie's business stood out for cleanliness and professionalism. It must be difficult for artists to understand what people want, taking input in many ways... some drawn out, some printed copies, others just described verbally. Charlie was intuitive as to what my wife wanted and made a trace of it on her skin to show what it would look like prior to setting up the needle. His clinic was clean and well lit, sanitary, and well decorated. We were in and out in about 30 minutes, including the paperwork and payment. Charlie is an awesome tattoo artist. I came to Charlie about a year ago. I wanted him to cover a tattoo that my dermatologist was unsuccessful at completely removing. What started off as a simple cover-up on my thigh turned into a full leg sleeve. Since then, Charlie has also done tattoo work on half of my back. I recently moved away from Atlanta, but I am flying back specifically to get a half sleeve on my arm. I interviewed six tattoo artists before settling on Charlie for the cover up job. Outwardly I'm very conservative-looking and I was not taken seriously by the other tattoo artists that I interviewed.
