Having heard nothing but how great this place is I was very let down. The food is good but not great the prices are comparable to all the other breakfast joints in town & after finally eating here can't for the life of me figure out why there is always a long wait. If you can get right in I would say try it but otherwise just go to Sgt Peppers. read more

Oh yes, this is the place! It's a really not off the beaten path location. Look for a steel Quansett hut with a gravel parking lot. It's a real throwback place with kitschy 50's decor and just plain good food. Friendly servers with a sense of humor. Huge portions of fresh food prepared in an old-fashioned diner style. Fun place to check out! Although get there early on a weekend morning as it fills up fast and they do not have an area to wait (other than outside). They are really good at getting people through their meal without making you feel rushed though. Food was also good breakfast food! Food is okay. Nothing special. Wait staff sucks. They don't care about their customers. Ask for coffee refill and they bring it when you're done with your meal. Asked for mayo with my breakfast sandwich. Didn't get it. Asked again for it. Didn't get it. I'll take Cooks Spice Rack over this place any day..... not worth the wait time. Charlie Parkers is GOD TIER! It easily has the most diverse breakfast menu I've ever seen (and I've seen plenty). I swear I could indulge myself in about three of their world record pancakes. The service is wonderful too! Last Saturday I found myself ordering their French toast, and boy oh boy was that the best decision I've ever made. All in all, CHARLIE PARKERS IS A MASTER PEICE. We stopped in here for breakfast sheet a recommendation from my daughter. After a short 20 minute wait We were seated at a configurable both. We all ordered the breakfast horseshoe, with a few different twists. Because it was Mothers Day, they brought all the moms a free slice of cheesecake. My daughter told me I had to split an order of red velvet French toast with her - she was spot on as it was delicious. The horseshoes were huge and very tasty. Mine was toast, two eggs over medium, a nice sized slice of ham, hash browns and sausage gravy. What a meal! Prices were very reasonable, service was great. I'm looking forward to another visit sometime in the future. read more

The food is excellent. Charlie Parker's is all about breakfast, specifically the pancakes. However, they have good lunch too. The two staples are the giant pancakes and the breakfast shoes (a morning twist on a Springfield classic). The last time I went, me and a buddy met for breakfast. We both tried to tackle the challenge. Basically, they bring out four 16 inch pancakes. If you can eat them all (no time limit) it's free. Even if you don't (neither of us got more than one pancake) it still costs less than $20 for the entire meal. My only complaint is that they aren't open for dinner. read more

Food was not bad. Have had better but have had worse. Ordered the biscuits and gravy. Not too bad. Ordered a couple sausage patties for the side. I took one bite and couldn't have anymore sausage. tasted very undercooked. Was not impressed. Interior was cool, but felt kind of cramped. Old school diner where the food was excellent, the portions were large, and the service was amazing. We got the pancakes that were as large as an old school record. Our server was nice and funny taking our picture with the food since we were not locals. I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for great diner food. read more

Definitely a cool place to stop and eat! We ate here for the first time because heard great reviews about it! It was lunchtime and I ordered a cheeseburger and tater tots. it was not a great cheeseburger. Small and the bun was cold! As I sat there and ate it looking around at other meals I wish I would've ordered breakfast! Friendly waitress and cashier. The Pumpkin Bread French Toast was good and a nice menu option. Four thin slices, a bit on the small side, but the flavor was good. This place by far has the best breakfast in town. The bisicuts and gravy are absouletly delicious and while I have always believed that pancakes all taste the same, their's really stand out. This is such an unusual place it's in a old military barrack. The inside is very cool. If there is a wait it is really worth it.

I'm only deducting one star from Charlie Parkers because it's always really crowded, and the pace tends to be pretty frenetic -- definitely NOT the spot for a claustrophobic or someone who has trouble with noise. Having said that though, I enjoy the daylights out of this place for breakfast. The food is very good, the portions are more than generous, the servers are among the best in Springfield, and the prices are great. It really is pretty hard to beat :) read more
