He said he actually couldn't fix it, that it was something with the computer needing an update, and that can only be done at the dealer. He did not charge me a dime. He could've charged for a diagnostic or something because they did take time to look at it, but not a thing. He said come pick it up and take it to the dealer. Talk about an honest guy! I called because I had been to the Mazda service center the day prior and they acted like I was making up the issue (car wasn't starting until 2nd or 3rd button push) and it finally died. Wouldn't start at all. Mazda wanted to charge me 150 to tow my car over to the center that had ignored me the day prior, so I called Charlie to see his price. I took my car in on May 1st because it had stalled the past few weeks. I dropped it off at 7 AM, and the guy was quickly taking down info and had a line of cars waiting. I asked for a diagnosis on why the engine was stalling. I left my car with them, and got a call 3 hours later saying it was the Mass Airflow sensor and starter plate that needed cleaning. He charged $60.00 for the cleaning. I thought everything was okay. Nope. My car died again 2 days later. I didn't feel safe bringing my car back to this place. Once, for my brakes and another time for a sensor issue I was having which was causing my not to start. Both times I took my car in, service was efficient and the price was always fair. Toyota of Clovis told us our 2006 Sienna needed a new Alternator ($900), valve cover gaskets ($1,100), and a new transmission ($4,000). Instead of just handing over $6,000 I thought I'd take it to Charlie to see what he had to say. This was my first experience with Charlie and was based solely on Yelp reviews. He lived up to his reputation and then some! He replaced the alternator for $290, said the entire valve cover gasket didn't need to be replaced, and only charged $230 for the part that did need to be replaced. Oh... I got a suggestion from a friend of mine about the way Charlie conducts his business. Honest, Reasonably Priced, and very Fast. After my car was repaired by Charlie, I 100% agreed with my friends assessment. Extremely happy with the work done on my car. Charlie was very accommodating with my situation. I was not able to get a tow for my car before my shift started at work. He told me to write down some details and leave it in the car. I did as instructed and within 2 hours had diagnosed the issues. He suggested back brakes which I did not take the car in for. My car was not running. After finding a leak under the car Charlie told us our water pump was the problem. He said because of the particular car model (dismantle the engine to access the pump) he didn't do heavy duty work like that anymore but gave us a number of a guy he knew... Thankfully that guy never picked up. I discovered shortly after that that my windshield fluid tube had popped off and that is what was leaking on the ground!!! If I had taken Charlie's advice I would have been looking at a $2100 bill. He could not have done any proper diagnosis on my car.
