Upon posting this review, I have taken my vehicles to Gateway Automotive three different times over the last 6 months....most recently last week. Going to any new automotive place, I am always hesitant and skeptical if the business and employees are going to be honest or are they going to try and take me for all my money? I went to them based on good reviews from Yelp. My experience with them has been nothing but fantastic. The front office staff, the mechanics and even the owner, have been nothing but professional, courteous and honest. Upon diagnosing my vehicle, they gave me different options on repairs and did not try to pressure me in either direction but did give advice on what the best fix would be. They performed the work in a timely manner and just as important.. the cost was fair. If you're looking for a honest place that won't try to screw you over then I strongly recommend this business. Went to Gateway this morning after scheduling an appointment for a brake fluid exchange. Receptionist was very nice on the phone. When I brought my car in, I talked to an employee (not sure if it was the owner) who was also really nice and asked me if I was doing this for routine maintenance. I told him I'd recently gotten a brake fluid exchange done at Midas, but at my last oil change at Oil Changers, I was told the brake fluid was "very low." Thinking perhaps Midas shorted me on the brake fluid, I decided to take it to Gateway for a proper brake fluid change. We went out to my car where he checked the brake fluid, saw it was a little low but not too bad, tested it to make sure it was fresh, and told me he would top it off for free. I thanked him, told him I'd come here for mechanic work from now on, and went on my merry way. Though no service was actually performed, I came away from the experience knowing the people here are friendly and honest, and that's enough for me to come back again next time! read more

Horrible experience! Took my car in for a tire alignment. That's it. Nothing more. Nothing less. 6 hrs later...Lacey, the receptionist calls me and tells me that the alignment wasn't done cuz her mechanic and the owner diagnosed the car n needed work. Not once did I get a call for the "diagnostic". They just took it upon themselves to perform it. When my son went to pick up my car, the owner tells him "what did you think the work was going to be for free?!" N tells him that there will be a $80 charge. At this point it isn't about the $80. Is about the fact that you had the car with you for 6 hrs n then proceed to do a service without getting the okay of the owner. Their customer service from the owner, to the receptionist is by far the worst. If you want a shitty experience n you want your time wasted, then this is the place to go read more

Doug the owner is very nice and takes the time to show you what was fixed, he spent a lot of time after hours showing me the work that was done, and he is very thorough in his work. I was so impressed, and I was grateful that he fixed what I thought would cost thousands of dollars, for under $300. Very grateful for the honest work done. Very honest and fair automotive repair shop. Took my 2011 Nissan Altima in because the transmission went out. With a car that old, and high mileage, I asked them to do a full inspection on the vehicle. They got back to me within a few hours, texting me the report and also calling to review it. They were also kind enough to give me the weekend to consider the repair, which I really appreciated. I ultimately did not get the repairs done, instead opting to get a new vehicle. At some point through this process, I spoke with Doug, Nathan and Shakira. They all offered very friendly service and detail. This company started out great, very honest, but over time my wife and I noticed that the prices for things started going up and we started getting the sense that we were being "taken for a ride" on some of the repairs. I recently had them evaluate my truck for a transmission repair. They quoted me $6800 to install a refurbed transmission. I did some research and found that transmissions go for around $2400-3000. That meant that they were going to charge me approximately $4000 for labor. I found another mechanic who did it for half the price and guaranteed the part for 4 years. This was very disappointing because I now can never trust them again and I will definitely never be coming back to them. read more

He recently covered an $1100 repair because it *may* have been due to some minor work they did a couple of years ago that *could* have contributed to the issue. Don't bring your vehicle here. We had a horrible experience with them. They were very kind and friendly, but a couple things went wrong that makes this a place I will never go back to and won't recommend. 1. We went in for an oil and coolant leak. Upon doing an inspection, they found a few other things wrong with the vehicle. We agreed on them completing the work for all that was necessary. However, upon looking at the final invoice, noticed that there were several double charges. There were also parts on the invoice that were significantly marked up in price after we did more research. We brought this up with the manager, and they agreed these were errors and refunded us around $300 for their errors on the bill. But this also made me think.....what else did they add into the bill that I didn't catch? 2. When we picked up the vehicle, we noticed it had the wrong color coolant. The coolant should always match to the color that the manual recommends. However, it seems they decided to use a different color coolant. When we brought this up with them, they also agreed to correct the error. I'm glad they were kind and friendly about the change, but this also made me think....what else was done in error that we didn't catch when it came to the repairs? Overall, they seem to be very kind people, but after the errors on the bill and error in coolant, I wouldn't bring my vehicle back to them. read more

I really wanted to come to this spot due to stellar reviews that I've read so Gateway was my first option to get in contact with to get a quote or idea about how much it'll cost to get my car fixed. Due to my baby not allowing me to drive around and stop at every shop to get a quote or to see what's wrong with it I decided to call around my first call attempt was at 10:04am Kenny answered put me on hold to get "the guy" that would be able to help me was on hold for 14 minutes, hung up waited a bit then called back again at 10:59am spoke to Kenny again told him make mode of my vehicle and what was wrong then again he said "let me get the guy that can help you" was on hold again for 40 Minutes! Not once did anyone get on the line and say that they were busy or can we give you a call back nothing, so I guess I'll continue to look. read more

I dropped my car off here Monday morning for a check engine light and coolant leak from the radiator. I was told by Nathan that he would try to look at it Monday but if not for sure on Tuesday morning. I called to check on my vehicle Monday afternoon but Nathan told me he had not had time to run the diagnostic, but he would be able to do it Tuesday morning for sure. He mentioned needing to take some parts off the car to see where the leak was coming from. I called Tuesday at noon and they had not gotten to my vehicle yet. I called again at 1 and was told that the tech had been looking at it for 45 minutes but they could fix the coolant issue but I would need to take it to another repair shop to do the engine diagnostic. Why not tell me this before I signed a contract for a check engine diagnostic and coolant leak? I called back at 2:15 to find that I was still in the same position but Nathan claimed they had not taken any parts off the vehicle. Here I am with two wasted days and a car that is probably further damaged because I believe they removed things and caused further damage as opposed to simply telling me they were not equipped to fix this type of foreign car. Here I am at a loss of two days and needing to take my vehicle elsewhere. I will provide a follow up review once the new repair shop fixes my vehicle. As opposed to admitting fault, the owner further fabricates his story in a response, indicating I did not mention the Check engine issue when it's clearly on this write up. And when I picked up my vehicle, I still had to pay the 160 diagnostic fee in addition to them having a technician top the coolant because of the leak. The technician himself didn't even know that BMW requires a double click to open the hood. Do not accept vehicles you are not equipped to repair. I went to you previously for my brakes and my oil change and the check engine light was an issue then and you told me to bring it back and you'd work on it. You didn't even bother removing the old repair markup. read more

I took my moms car in for an oil change and apparently the oil cap wasn't secure The oil leaked out and the motor was eventually ruined Shortly after the company was aware of this incident, they contacted me immediately. I explained the situation to them and they were very accommodating. The car was repaired and I was not charged thousands of dollars. I needed a full engine replacement on my 2017 Dodge Promaster Van and there were only a hand full of Auto repair ships willing to take on that job or who was qualified to do it in the first place. Out of the ones I called Gateway was by far the most prompt and demonstrated they knew exact their trade well. Nathan who runs the shop called me back within an hour of my original request with a complete quote. He explained all the systems effected by the change out, A/C, Heater etc. to replace and had a competitive breakdown of all the costs and a time frame for the order and replacement of my engine. Nathan checked every box I needed to make my 10k decision to move forward with Gateway and now that it is all said and done I made the right decision going with them an could not be more happy with the outcome and service I received.
