For only having 5 tables of customers and 3 waitresses, it took 6 minutes to get a menu, then another 10 to simply place an order (from a pretty small and simple menu. . A basic order of a large orange juice, pancake special, no eggs no butter, biscuits and gravy no eggs and side of bacon, and a turkey bacon club, turned into a 20 minute wait for food, with no orange juice, no bacon. So 10 minutes later when we could finally get her attention, the annoyed 50+ year old woman appalled that we would want what we ordered. Crazy, I know. So she brings us a small orange juice (we ordered a large) and disappears til we get the check while bringing the side of bacon we ordered asking if we ordered it, while clearly holding a receipt saying we did. Needless to say $50 later for shitty service and bland ass food, we will not be back. It's a hole in the wall that should probably be bricked up like a mausoleum because clearly it's only meant for geriatric people lacking taste buds, with nothing but time and spare cash for overpriced slop ‍

It was my first visit to Johnel's restaurant. It was packed in there because they had an inhouse generator that kept the place open for business. It was like Brookfield zoo in there, very crowded and it appears some the animals escaped captivity and came here for breakfast. My breakfast was adequate but nothing above and beyond. The ham was thin, with burned areas and not off the bone as I like it, but oh well. The coffee was bitter, I probably could have scrubbed and cleaned a frying pan with it. I was hungry, the price was right and I was satisfied. The service was good. My server was painfully pierced and tattooed and if the wind got a hold of her, she's look like a sheet of wallpaper flying down the street. There is no accounting for good taste in presentation these days. Johnel's wasn't bad but sure wasn't the best! All depends on how hungry or picky you are. Bon Appetite!

I just kept it but I did mention it to the manager. Today was the worst. Husband ordered a Barbeque Burger and I ordered a Chicken Wrap. Again, we waited... and waited. We were told our food would be out very soon. Twice. They brought my spouse's food out ...and brought me the wrong order. The server too the wrong order to the kitchen and several minutes later came out with my order. I tend to be very patient (retired middle school English teacher here), and I understand that the servers can't control the kitchen. But this was ridiculous. Breakfast adventure…read more Our baseball tournament got delayed bright and early thanks to Mother Nature, so instead of sitting around waiting, we did what any reasonable group would do, we went looking for food. Of course, I pulled up Yelp (because Yelp never lets me down) and it led us right down the road to Sunrise Cafe. I'm actually mad at myself for forgetting to take pictures because everything looked so good that I skipped photographer mode and went straight into eating mode. There were seven of us, and we covered just about the whole menu, Denver omelets, French toast, over-easy and sunny-side-up eggs, chopped beef with eggs, and more. Not a single complaint at the table. Everything came out hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The staff was incredibly friendly, the atmosphere was welcoming, and it had that family-friendly hometown feel that makes you want to come back. If you find yourself in the area looking for breakfast, do yourself a favor and stop in. Rain delay or not, this place was a home run.

The male manager seated me and there I sat and sat and sat. Yes, the room was full with waitresses going back and forth, NOT one said hello, we'll be right with you, acknowledging that I was alive. After 10 minutes, I grabbed a male manager and said nobody is waiting on me. He gave me a cup of coffee and he went straight back into the kitchen and spoke with a cook about getting me a server. After waiting another 15 minutes, while waitresses were all around me, yet not one stopped to find out what I wanted to eat. After looking at their tired, dirty and late menu for far too many times. I got up and went up to pay for my lone cup of coffee. A male employee minding the desk, ran up to the register as if I was going to skip out on paying for the $3.50 cup of coffee. I told him I was sitting here for over 25 minutes and nobody bothered to wait on me. We're very busy! Try that excuse on someone else, that's bullshit! A well trained waitress would greet you properly and say something to you, not ignore you. I was dressed properly. What he should have done for my inconvenience was comp me the cup of coffee! I wasn't looking for anything for free but a good business person would have comped the coffee. I would NEVER step foot in this place ever again!
