Went to breakfast at Raspberry's Pancake House. Me and wife did not finish so we took leftovers home. Went to eat my leftovers. Was going to cut a pocket in French toast and stuff the sausage inside. When I went to turn it sideways to cut the pocket I got sick to my stomach when i noticed mold on the bread for the French toast. I closed the container up and was going to bring to show owner later in the day and get a refund. Well before we did that the wife started to finish her leftovers and got sick and threw up so we saved hers to bring up there too. On way to pick our cat up from the vet we brought food with us and stopped at restaurant. Talked to guy at front counter think was the owner. He asked what I wanted him to do. I said I want a complete refund. He said you paid by card I can't give a refund ill remake it for you. There was no way in hell I was going to eat anything from that place anymore. I said just give me a refund and he said no. I said you can give a refund you just dont want to. I said I will just dispute the charge with my bank and said a few choice words and left. So if you decide to eat there check over all your food before you eat there or just dont go. I will never step foot in that place again. I've had breakfast here only a handful of times and thought I would go again on Sunday, September 21,2025/ I regretted that decision immediately because of the absolute disgust and lack of cleanliness of the restaurant kitchen I realized . I ordered hot tea and when I poured the water into my cup, I noticed there were some black spots that I assumed was my teabag opening up. Upon looking closer, I discovered it was a little bug. Thankfully, I opened up the hot water container they had left at the table for me . Inside with no less than 10 bugs of various sizes. I was absolutely horrified. The waitress response was 'oh I'm sorry. ' That was it. She did not tell a manager. She did not express any concern nor did she attempt to rectify it. I didn't want anything else to eat or drink but an offer would have been nice. . I was not expecting a free meal or anything however I was expecting something more than just oh I'm sorry. No manager or anyone approached us . We already ordered our food and I inspected it very very carefully before eating (toast and 2 scrambled eggs).. It's a typical Chicago breakfast and lunch place. Pancakes, eggs, sandwiches, etc. I was looking for a spot to get a salad. They had a few options. It was fresh and plentiful. Good lemon rice soup too. We had the best waitress by far. I would have given it a better rating had I not witnessed the rude treatment another waitress was providing. A family was seated with special needs adult children. She was short and snippy. Left the table because they didn't answer quick enough. I had no problem understanding their order sitting 10 feet away, but she kept acting like she couldn't understand standing right next to them. This was our first visit as our usual breakfast go-to was only serving carry out orders. After seeing the long line of people waiting for a table here, I assumed the food would be worth the wait. Well, I was partiality correct. The hashed browns were good, but the coffee was weak and the bacado was just okay. I'm not a fan of cheddar cheese with eggs. They don't carry pepper Jack or Monterey Jack, so hence the cheddar. The omelette was huge. Instead of the cook dicing avocado and putting it inside the omelette, the cook put it on top. I prefer it inside the omelette. The pancakes would have been good but were cold. The highlight of the meal was the warm hospitality shared by the server, which is why I gave the review 3 stars. Not a restaurant that stands out, either good or bad. I'd call it adequate. Food was acceptable. Service was above average. The one thing that particularly annoyed me was that with the name "Raspberry's" I would think they would feature raspberries on several items. I searched the menu completely with no success. Not even as a side or dessert. I asked several members of the staff if there was any explanation for the lack of their namesake item. No one had a clue, while they get this question quite frequently. This is a restaurant that feels like a neighborhood comfort space. The staff are delightful, the restaurant is pretty, the restrooms are clean, and the overall atmosphere is energetic and welcoming. Hailey, my server, was phenomenal! Very professional, attentive, and prideful of her work. The food was just "ok" however. I had the chorizo omlet with pancakes and hash browns an the flavor for the omlet could have been better. Been here many times. Sometimes its good sometimes ehhhhhh... Today I got an order with a chocolate chip waffle. It was disgusting. They put like maybe 5 choc chips in the middle. My cold waffle came with syrup not whipped cream which super gross. When I called and explained the manager said I could not be compensated for the waffle portion of my meal. Manager was very rude about it. Like who am I to complain about cruddy food that I paid 10 dollars for. Never going back. No respect for their customers IMO. One of the best breakfast joints in the south suburbs. I go here every sunday with my girlfriend. The food is well priced and consistent. We get our food stupid fast! I get the skillet and it's so fire and tastes the same every time. My gf gets the biscuit and gravy and says that shit is fire as well. The waitresses are super nice. Overall the place is the shit. 5/5 stars no doubt. Will continue to go here and tell everyone how flame the place is. I've been coming to this place since it opened. It's the closest breakfast place to my house, now I drive past it to go anyplace else. The food is fine. I've never had a problem with the staff. Though I hate the lady owner. You can tell she only loves money. I'm also pretty sure she treats the staff terribly because she has been rude to me several times. My worst experience was when I ordered food to be picked up. When I got there she gave me my food and told me to sit down, she would have me pay in a moment. I sat there for over 20 minutes. I had 2 waitresses ask me if I was ok, because it's weird to see someone sitting down with over $30 food in to go containers. I begged the waitresses to ring me up, they both ran away and said no. When the lady owner came back, she was so rude to me. To this day, I still regret being a good person and waiting to pay for my food. If "How to tell a customer to kiss your a@@ while smiling" was a person, she'd be a manager on Sunday morning at Raspberry pancake house in Steger. A friend and I came for breakfast. I have been here a handful of times and found the food to be good and she visited once before and enjoyed it. After ordering an omelet, this "waitress" came back 15 minutes later and said, "do you girls want to hear something funny? We were all making Googly eyes at this guy and we gave him your omelet, hahaha, so yours will be up shortly." Ummm, ok. When she bought the omelet, it had no cheese throughout and my well done hash browns were scorched on the bottom and inedible. I notified her and she said, she'd have them remake it. She then brings back the same omelet on a double plate with cheese on top as if it had been microwaved. I ate the tasty pancakes and waited on her to return. When she did, I informed her that I didn't want it, she said, we don't take things off of your check. It looks delicious and walked away. Upon paying for the check, I asked for the manager but of course, she was the manager. I paid and left. The entire time she had the most passive aggressive, yet smug smile and tone and could not care less about my disappointment. I can only imagine why she behaved this way but I'll finally digress. Good Morning: I'm currently present in your restaurant to have breakfast with my daughter and nephew. I have been coming to Raspberry for years with my family. I absolutely love the original manager and owners and her family. Today I was served by a waitress named (Jacki); who brought me a dirty cup with old lipstick from a previous customer to drink my beverage . "That should have deterred my service". Instead I allow the waitress to replace my cup. Due to Covid Pandemic it has been a while since I have been able to take my daughter out for breakfast. The waitress appeared to be unknowable of the breakfast menu and how items are prepared. I asked Jacki about the key factors about the meal I was thinking of selecting. Jacki the server was able to reply " I do not like avocado", and that was it. I decided to pick "Cali Benedict ". Due to the busy rush and not truly being able to discuss my order and its entirety with my server I did not realize that the egg for the meal is cooked "poached". When Jacki returned with my meal I explained to her that it was unclear that the egg would be cooked "poached", I would have never spent time talking about avocado, and immediately looked over that selection. Again, due to Saturday morning rush; I too felt rush. Jacki's comment was " It was on the menu when you read it". "That was a rude statement"; instead of listening to the customer she blamed my misunderstanding of the meal on me. I replied back " I understand it was on the menu" ;however due to health and preference I cannot eat this meal. Her reply was " talk to my manager" very abruptly and walked away. . When the manager arrived( Cheryl) she was just as insensitive. I explained to Cheryl that I will become sick if I eat the " poached egg". Her reply to me was "this is the house rules"and that she could box my food up and I could order something different, but I would have to pay for the meal although I could not eat it. Immediately I tried to reason with Cheryl for a replacement meal, or if something could be done. My nephew intervened because he identified I was upset and asked Cheryl if there was anything that she could do. Cheryl replied "No". As the customer I saw there was no reasoning with Cheryl and that she had not listened to my overall complaint. I would have to pay for a meal I literally cannot eat for physical purposes. I paused and asked Cheryl if she could even have the "poached egg' cook harder. Chery indicated that she could have the egg cooked harder, and that she did not know I had an issue with the eggs. I was so confused and frustrated at this point. I believe as a professional of an establishment that listening skills are important and that customer service is most important. If that means taking an educated guess; troubleshooting with your customer or client, or even taking a little more time to fully gather the importancy of a matter. Speed of service is not the most important part in every scenario. When Chery ( the manager) returned my meal to me " My appetite had fleeted'. I asked her for the contact information of the previous manager, obviously she could not help me. Cheryl brought me a sheet of paper with her name; the server name; the restaurant website info of raspberrypancake.com. She even brought me the phone number to the Raspberry Restaurant ; although I was sitting right in the establishment speaking with the manager. I spent my entire time at the Raspberry establishment typing this note. I allowed my daughter and nephew to finish their meal. I had my food box; which I still could not eat. I contacted the facility when I got to my car. Cheryl answered the phone. I was confused why she couldn't talk with me while I was present. She did not give me the proper information; in which I asked for my complaint. It was if she wanted to keep my experience in the house, and not allow me to speak to previous owners. Clearly she handled this entire ordeal. She stated that " Jacki" was her best server , and that she has never had any complaints. Its as if she was proud of herself for never having a complaint; instead of again not listening to the total issue at hand. She dismissed me quickly stating ' I would have to call her back at 3pm after her breakfast rush". The morning rush and this misunderstanding was the entire point of my dissatisfying service. A workshop or class on proper customer service and listening skills along with being able to properly decipher complicated choices and decipher the differences of circumstances amongst each individual should be taught to Raspberry Staff . If I took this long to write this long email I am obviously absolutely dissatisfied with my service today. read more

I love this place. The staff and servers are always friendly and courteous. When I go I share ( its just so big) the Veggie omelet. It has every veggie you can imagine in there and of course being a carnivore i ask for crunchy bacon to be folded in and to top it off I have them put some Mozzarella on top. Went here for breakfast for the first time this morning. The restaurant is very clean and tidy, and the servers were very courteous and intuitive. The server brought a box for my companions leftovers without even being asked. I had the Spanish scramble, which had onions, peppers, chorizo and cheddar. It came with hash browns, tortillas and some salsa. I enjoyed the food...the salsa was flavorful. What I liked about the breakfast was that it was somewhat unique and different from the standard omelet you might get. They had a lot of interesting choices...lots of different benedicts, skillets and frittatas. The lunch and dinner items looked good too. I will be back. Nice surprise!
