I have not had Charlie's Electric do any work at my house, but two of Charlie's employees were working across the street when our trailer came loose from our car. Without hesitation, these two men ran over to help and got our trailer hooked back up so we could be on our way. I needed the second floor of my older (knob and tube) home rewired. We went from only 1 working outlet, to about 12. Charlie was the only one who would come out and give me a me a free estimate. His price was much more reasonable than the few phone estimates I got. He was also able to get the job done much sooner than he had originally anticipated. Seth does fantastic work, they were in and out in two days with only minor disruption to my family and passed the city inspection first try. I set up an appointment to meet with Charlie to come to my house in March of 2018. I was able to set up an appointment and Charlie came out the next day. We discussed all the work I wanted to have done and I even brought up future work I would like to have done. Charlie said he would get back to me with an estimate for the work that was to be completed right away. I waited five days and nothing, so then I texted him and inquiring about about the estimate, Charlie texted back "I'M WORKING ON IT. BEEN REAL BUSY". To this day I still haven't received an estimate. Charlie is unreliable. Promises to return to complete a job which he had been paid for then reneges when asked to complete. I have a hole above my panel he left. When I Called him all he wanted to do is whine about how bad he has it. When I pressed him on finishing what he started, he hangs up. When he left after the first and only time here, there was insulation tracked all over upstairs which I had to clean up. UPDATE: 2/13/17 - Charlie had also promised a $100 refund in his response to my complaint to Consumer Affairs. He has yet to make good on that promise. Although his response letter was factually incorrect, I should have expected as much. He claims I became irate. In the end, you bet I was angry because I could not get a straight answer from him when I asked how soon he could come back to complete the job! 3x I asked and he tried talking over me. Note to Charlie, don't hang up on your customer. Part of customer service is LISTENING to your customer. You did not listen to me. This whole thing could have been avoided had you listened to my question, which was merely, "How soon?" It really is immaterial to the customer what your problems are. All they want to know is when you can do the job. That is all I wanted to know. read more

I was not happy with the service that Puget sound electric they left part of the ceiling hanging down and I feel they should've fixed it.

We had an entire wall ripped out, which required a significant amount of wiring to be rerouted. On top of that, the home was older with inconsistent wiring and GFIs - Charlie was not only thorough and friendly, he helped explain everything that was going on behind the walls. I needed to have my old FPE panel replaced, run another panel to my garage and install several outlets. Charlie came out, took a look at what I needed and advised me on upgrades that I he felt would work for me and my budget. The bid was very detailed, clearly written and easy to understand. The quote was very reasonable, way less than a "large chain" had given me (the other company who looked at the job never got the bid to me, WTH?!). He had this to me within three days, as promised. The work was scheduled a few weeks later, and he estimated that it would take a full two days. What really stood out to me was that not only were Charlie and his crew on time, they were 25 minutes early and working within minutes of arriving! They finished up on day two in the early afternoon, and the inspection easily passed. The work? Beyond anything I'd ever imagined wonderful!! I no longer have to worry about not having enough power or be concerned about something tripping or worse. I went on vacation to Cabo a few weeks after the work was done, and wasn't even concerned that something might "go wrong" with my new electrical system while I was gone. I am so happy with the main panel, outlets and box that he added to my garage. How I went so many years with such poor electrical is beyond me. I had the misfortune of driving in front of the owner of this company today. In a van with his number and company name clearly posted all over it, he rode my ass all the way through two school zones, driving half of it giving me the middle figure and attempting to film me while driving. He had only one hand on the wheel while messing with his phone, in his company vehicle. Would not recommend his services to any one, not with the lack of courtesy and rudeness that he drives with. read more

Worst electrician and company I have ever dealt with. I contacted Charlie and 2 other companies back in Sept. to request estimates to rewire and get rid of the old knob wiring from my 2 bedroom house in Tacoma. Charlie shows up.... we go over the task, we specifically talked about the heaters and how they were going to rewire 4 and NOT 5 heaters, how I needed few extra plugs, and to move a few plugs since I was moving appliances around my kitchen and a 50amp RV plug that I needed in my yard. So he leaves, emails me his estimate for what he was doing and for such an amount $$$.... I replied back to his email and included a PDF sketch of the work he had proposed as well as the few changes that I needed, after all I am the one living in that house and I know what I need as far as plugs and light switches, plus I also requested a discount on my proposal so I gave him a total amount. He replied back with a "can you come up with $$" to which I agreed. So they get to work on the wiring... I am in Spokane during the time they are working on the house so I can be out of the way, not much communication until about 2-3 days after that I called to get an update. Seth called me, he is the one working in the house and asked him about the job... what heaters?? he had no idea that he needed to connect them, what extra plugs? what 50amp service? Seth did not know about any of that.... so I get a call from Charlie... now he wants more money to connect the 4 heaters....well well, he is in the spot so he is raising the amount... I agreed as I figured ok... that should be it. I also talked to Seth about the 50 amp.. and told him that I had placed the post where they were going to be installing the plug. I show up to the house about a week later since they were running late than the 5 to 7 days that were proposed, but I am ok with that, I much rather wait than to get a rushed job. I show up... no light switches where I requested missing 3.. no plugs where I requested missing 2... no 50 amp plug.... and even worse... no electricity to my garage!! what kind company is this?? for the amount of money I paid I expected to have things running and ready to roll. Charlie shows up to collect the last half of the amount (I should have just held it and taken him to court then because he deserves it) But I am a decent home owner, I pay him the full amount. Now we are talking about connecting my garage, why did they not say anything while they were there? why not tell me we need more money to connect the garage or at least let me know the issue. Fast forward to 3 weeks ago because now that he has done the big project and has gotten the big bucks he is too busy to go do a small project like CONNECTING MY GARAGE!! so he shows up about 3 weeks ago, we go over the need I have to have power in my garage and the need for my 50amp plug that was never installed... so he starts sobbing and complaining about taxes, paying people, having to make 6k a day, amount of installation blah blah... I just need my garage and my 50amp hook up... so we agree on $$ amount for both items, he even tells me that I have to dig the trench because it would save me some money... fine, I dig the trench so we are ready. Like i mentioned, now he is too busy for a small job right? he shows up last Saturday to look at what I need AGAIN, and he tells me that he would charge me $$ to connect the garage, wait a minute... he wants to charge me what he quoted me 3 weeks before to hook up the garage and the 50amp plug, now he wants that same money for just the garage??? what kind of business is this? taking advantage of a customer? I start getting angry and tell him that they left me in a bad situation, not hooking up my garage or telling me about it, so he gets his take it or leave it attitude because according to him "he must have been high when he priced me the first time" I got angry and finally just told him to get the F out of my house and that I would see him in court, his response..."are you threatening me? you just made an enemy".... I told him "no I am not threatening you but I will see you in court" to what he responded... "well you don't have a signed contract for what I told you" Well sorry to break it to him but I have emails and text messages!!! Bottom line... I still have no power in my garage, no 50amp hook up, and no plugs and switches where I requested. Had I known that this company works like this I would have waited for another one to do the job instead of dealing with Puget Sound Electric and Charlie!! I would not recommend this company to any one. Oh and no permit, even though I requested it through email, I never received it from Charlie... I talked to TPU and they forwarded it to me, so thanks TPU. read more

Okay, so I very rarely write reviews, but I feel like this one warrants the time. This is a pretty amazing story. I called PSEC in the morning around 10am and explained I had lost power in a number of outlets inside and outside the house. Initially they said they could get someone out the next morning, but later that day they had someone (Seth) available and he came out and was so helpful and informative. I was also in contact with Charlie on the phone throughout the visit discussing pricing and options. After 2 hours Seth had my problem solved and I had a significant education in what our overall issues were and many options about what to do about them. No one tried to oversell services. I have a great appreciation for that. But that's not all. Charlie texted me an invoice later that day (very reasonable price) and I wrote a check that night! So, I called, got it all fixed, billed and paid for all in one day! Amazing. I totally recommend Charlie and Seth. A great team. read more

Unprofessional. I had a bad experience with Charlie. I called him to install a bathroom fan in my rental property. He gave me a quote but said he could not install the duct due to liability. I asked him if he knew someone who could, and he referred a friend. I had scheduled the install with Charlie a week out but could not get a hold of his friend. When I tried to change the install date since I was still unable to get his friend to install the duct, Charlie got upset with me and convinced me to let him install the fan without the duct. It was another week before his friend came out and installed the duct. Charlie's invoice had an extra $75 mileage charge which was not on his estimate, even though I had told him where the house was. Since I was an out of town owner renting out the house, I had him email me the invoice instead of mailing it, so I could get him paid faster. I had my bank send him a check when I got the invoice but just a few days after sending me the invoice, Charlie sent me a very rude text message claiming I had no intention of paying him. The check was in the mail at this point and I had documentation from my bank to prove it, which I emailed to Charlie. He wouldn't return my call or my email. An apology for insulting my integrity would have been nice. I will not be doing any further business with Charlie. read more
