We had a party of 6. Called and got a reservation. Arrived at 7 with my mother who needed wheelchair access going right in thru a ramp. The atmosphere was great. The waitress was outstanding. Her name was Amanda. She was very helpful as far as ordering goes. There was a wide selection of food. From pizza to steak tips. I had meatball & sausage cacciatore that was outstanding. Chowder was very good. Mom had steak tips with mashed & squash. She said that was great. The other orders were a Rueben (3). & and cheese ravioli with meatballs which were also great and plentiful. We had a lot to bring home. Anyway we really enjoyed our dinner & our waitress Amanda. The total cost for the 6 of us was $110. Been in the area for over 40 years and finally tried Charlie's Place for their bar pizza in particular. Well worth the stop and we'll be back again. We had a pepperoni, hamburger & onion, and hamburger pepperoni and jalapeño pizzas. Very crispy crust that was not overly greasy. I didn't read description carefully when I ordered and didn't realize that the pizza is Not a 10" bar pie! I wanted to compare to Cape Cod Cafe. The pizza was still tasty, but didn't have the same crust because they didn't use the bar pie pans. Also, there was no leftovers for dinner! I would have just ordered a regular pizza if I'd known. Charlies Place is exactly what makes the Cape Cod area (Wareham included) charming and truly very special. Everything about it screams traditional Cape Cod style...no minimalist chic decor rather, a homey warm and welcoming sense that makes you want to come back over and over again. Greeted by the hostess Gale, she ordered our drinks and ensured the server was on her way! The Pizza was amazing: thin crispy crust with a delicious sauce and plenty of cheese. It was perfect. My Vermont Burger at only $15.00 was exceptionally prepared and was one of the best I have had in quite a while. The prices for all food and specials were very reasonable but moreover, the quality and portions were exceptional. The pizza is great and a close race with Mystic Pizza's I think. The management and wait staff are friendly and are fun. The ambiance is very good with a homey classic feel. Service is quick and even if there is wait for a seat, they get you in pretty fast. read more

What can I say, this place is a Wareham staple. The service is always good and the food has never disappointed me. Sure the interior is a bit old, but it adds to the charm and they aren't waisting money on decor and being fancy which in turn keeps the prices down. I like the place for what it is, good honest food at an affordable price. read more

My family of 8, (6 adults 2 children) stopped in for a bite bc we were in the area (long day at kartland) to be "greeted" by an older woman who told my husband we needed to call ahead so they could be ready for us..1- how are we supposed to know when not from here 2- there was no wait & plenty of empty tables 3- how RUDE! My husband said well we can leave & she said no it's fine but next time ... Then we get same said older woman taking our drink orders. I asked if there's free refills & she said I don't know ask your waitress...1st I thought SHE was the waitress, YOURE TAKING OUR DRINK ORDER! and proceeded to ask so do you want a drink? Again RUDE!! Then to make a long story short, we received drinks that THEY didn't know if diet or regular when serving them to us...we received 6 of the 8 meals 10mins ahead of the last 2...and MANY were wrong!! NEVER EVER AGAIN! I don't leave reviews but this place needed it! How can there be so many positive reviews??! Must be locals or friends. They also didn't have any clam plates that were not only in their menu but as a special still listed at the front! It was only 4/5pm. As well as when leaving we saw the cook in the parking lot smoking a cigarette & trust me, the cigarette wasn't the obvious reason why our food was disgusting! 3 different plates of Alfredo had 3 different textures/consistency & color!! I have nothing to say about the food because not only were we not seated, we were never even acknowledged. We stood at the host/ess stand for more than ten minutes, politely waiting to be seated as the sign requested, and...nothing. Two servers saw us waiting and did nothing. In total desperation to feed our 2.5 year old pizza he kindly requested after a 3 hour drive up to the Cape from CT, we stopped at Charlie's Place as a matter of convenience and proximity to the main route we were traveling on. The restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside but we were pleasantly surprised by our experience. Servers were very kind all around and our main server in particular was extremely sweet and understanding of our wiggly, overtired, and hungry toddler. We had a couple of brief communications with what seemed like patrons as we waited and tried to keep our son patient and they were all very sweet and humorous, as well. Food came out very quickly. We got my son his pizza, which was a small, plain cheese but was actually very tasty beyond just satisfying his craving. My husband got chicken fettuccini alfredo and said it was basic but good and I got a Vermont burger which was cooked to perfection, had a great assortment of toppings and a Vermont sauce which was unique and delicious. We were all very happy with our meals and the experience. Reasonable prices and the remainder of the menu looked diverse for different tastes. Would recommend. read more

Old school restaurant with pretty good pizza and excellent eggplant parm. The sauce on the eggplant parm was a little too sweet for my liking, but the eggplant itself was some of the best eggplant parm I have ever had. The pizza could be a little bit crispier on the bottom, but overall a very good bar pizza. The vibe is very dated and could use an upgrade, but I didn't think it smelled bad like some of the other reviewers said and I have a very sensitive nose. The service was fine as well. This place gets a 5 Star for sure!! Nothing pretty to look at from the busy Main Street in Buzzards Bay/Onset/Wareham it's along; when you walk in it's a bit of a "dive bar" though clean, and quaint. It's got tacky decorations, and even a cheesy light show, but I'll tell you, the food is always SPOT ON , the drinks are made very well. There's a square cut cookie sheet sized pizza that is so good it will blow your doors off. Crispy at the edges, real cheese, fresh ingredients, dough cooked just right light and fluffy. It will melt in your mouth. I've never had a bad meal or experience here. For desert try the Boston Cream Pie, though it's more like a light fluffy cake, loaded with layers of cream and chocolate; it's the best I've ever had. I like Jaime the waitress, she's been great to me every time me/friends/family have gone in. She's old school, efficient, direct, hustles. This place has been around for years and years, and I bet they haven't done a thing to the place in 40 years, but I'll tell you: This place is the living meaning of the phrase: "Don't Judge a book by its cover. Half our order was not in the bag. And we paid for the full order. He continued to justify and not apologize about the order being completely wrong. We want to try most all of the restaurants in Wareham because we live here and you don't know if your are missing a wonderful gem until you've tried it. (This was before I found out about Yelp). I can say that the food was edible, but not much more. The really bad thing about the place is that it has a peaked hardwood ceiling. This causes the really loud noises from the bar area to bounce off the ceiling and come right down on you in the dining area. You can hear EVERY conversation happing at the bar and that's not what we want when we go out to dinner. We could not wait to get out of there and will never go back. read more

This place has always disappointed and will never go back again. I ordered 2 pizzas at 4:50PM and was told it would be within an hour. An hour and a half went by nothing. I called the place and they said "We called you 4 times an you didn't answer. We even had the dock attendants go up and down the docks. BLATANT LIES! First off, the attendants had left for the day, secondly they were the rudest of ever. I have given this place 3 chances and I will never, NEVER go back. Harry, you need to step up some.
