This is a solid little taco joint tucked into the back of a gas station. Normally, I'd avoid such a place, and this one was no exception for years, but after several people told me I was missing out, I decided to give them a try. I'm glad I did. The place is not much to look at, just a counter with a kitchen behind it, but looks aren't everything. There's a handful of ladies working various areas in the little kitchen, making tortillas, cooking eggs and proteins, running the cash register, chopping onions & cilantro, etc. The tacos here are great. I was grabbing breakfast tacos, so I went with chorizo and egg, bacon and egg, and potato and egg. The chorizo and egg was solid, but the thick cut, crispy bacon in the other taco was the one that really impressed me. My wife enjoyed her potato & egg and chorizo & egg tacos as well. Each one came with a little salsa container with more than enough for a single medium taco. I'd normally be giving a place like this 5 stars based on the service, price, and experience, but came back here a couple of weeks later and found that it was closed on a Saturday with no sign or explanation. The guy working the gas station side told us that they shut down for multiple days around the holidays but didn't seem to have any idea of specifically when other than that they would definitely be back the following Monday. read more

This hidden gem is in a Valero gas station. It's nothing fancy but the tacos are delicious! I haven't tried their breakfast tacos yet but the lunch tacos are on point. Just good authentic home comfort food as if you were at your grandmas house. Give them a shot, they're really good. Don't let the customer service dissuade you. The woman that works the counter isn't nice but not mean either. She just want to take your order and get it out quickly to you. Try 'em out if you're in the area. Not bad, not bad. The tacos were fairly big and good thing I order one taco. I had bacon, potato, cheese, eggs, and chorizo, but it doesn't amount to Soliz. It was still pretty decent. The bacon was super crispy which is a super thumbs up, I barely tasted the chorizo, the potatoes were not as soft as I expected, and the eggs are just scrambled eggs. The green sauce was a bland, but spicy so it pretty good. I also got the quesadilla with fajita meat for the next day and it was pretty good as well. They were stingy on the meat, and they put red and green bell pepper on one side of the quesadilla. I had this place bookmarked for awhile. I tried the special breakfast burrito. She asked if I wanted everything on it. Of course I do. So I'm sitting here eating it and it is way too many things inside. There's refried beans, eggs, sausage, cheese, bacon, fajita steak, potatoes, Pico de Gallo. It's in the back of a gas station and there were 3 ladies in the kitchen cooking. There is a set of tables they can seat 8 people. Their food is decent. I was totally looking forward to trying out this place... After reading some of the reviews I may have set too high an expectation! I stopped in for lunch since is was in the area. I went with the beef fajita and barbacoa and I have to say, it wasn't all that!!! Totally over rated! They were okay but NOT nearly as good as described. Especially since I just found an incredible taco truck the day before! I can't really describe the taste other than just okay. However, I would not be opposed to trying their breakfast burritos or taco! I don't think I would come back here for lunch as I was very disappointed. Sorry to all the Yelper fans of this place. They are located in a gas station and honestly I have called them "Gas Station Tacos" for the longest time and just recently found out the name. I would strongly suggest calling in your order ahead of time or you will wait a while, they get that busy. I stopped by to pick up a quick lunch of beef fajita torta from the walk up counter. The counter lady was all business, not a hello or a smile. My torta was done in less than 10 minutes. The fajita beef was tasty but little on the chewy side. The beef / bread ration was not balanced, not enough beef. At least the price was reasonable. I finally took my colleague here since he's always looking for those hole in the wall Mexican restaurants. I couldn't believe this little taco spot has 4.5 stars, so I had to come and see why. This deli is located inside the Valero at the corner of Kirkwood and Sugar Grove Blvd, just 2 blocks north of 59. I ordered 1 beef fajita taco, 1 carne guisada taco and 1 barbacoa taco and he ordered the barbacoa plate. I requested beans on my lunch tacos, so I think they charged a little more for those but my meal was still around $6. It comes with a salsa, so I just asked for both red and green. I thought the tacos were okay, and didn't really have a favorite, just thought the best part was the homemade tortillas. My colleague on the other hand loved his barbacoa plate and said the green salsa tasted just his childhood days back in San Antonio. He did mention that he didn't care for the Mexican rice. My go-to order is a medium barbacoa taco with cheese and beans, and a medium TRASH taco. No actual trash included. Tried it out after Yelp recommended it and it was pretty good. I tried their barbacoa and was not too impressed by it, tasted really greasy and had a different taste than what I've had in other places. I've also tried their pupusas and were just okay for the taste for me. Now their tortas are really good, those did not disappoint.
