Brenda's Taqueria is our go to real Mexican place in the Stafford/Sugar Land area. It's fast service, good food, for an affordable price. Don't expect anything fancy here, but the food is well worth the affordable prices. My go to orders are the street tacos, al pastor torta, or tampiquena. The chips and salsa are fire here as well. The green sauce always packs a kick, and the red salsa is always fresh tasting. I'm surprised this place has such a low rating on Yelp. Sadly, service and food were a miss. Food was flavorless and greasy. I got the chimichanga and as soon as I cut into the burrito, a wave of grease came pouring out. Honestly, super crazy to me that this place has such a low rating, when I absolutely LOVE the food. The fajita tacos are the BEST. Get the Fajita tacos with cilantro and onions, and you can never go wrong. I almost always get that and am satisfied. Another staple for me are the tortas! They're always so good here! The bread is the perfect amount of crunchy and soft, and the fillings always blend together so naturally. Sauces are good too, green sauce is my favorite! I honestly would say that some of these bad reviews are trolling. This isn't a high establishment, don't come in thinking its going to be fillet mignon or something. Not really a Taquería, more like a bar with sub par Tex mex. Service was slow and they were not busy.

I wouldn't even give it a star if I could.. horrible food and service. Menudo was so greasy and salty to begin with, gorditas masa was from last years freeze they kept in the freezer, when ordered fajita nachos be prepared to receive cold ground beef and watered down cheese. Even after letting out waitress know she never came back to our table. After speaking to the manager, she gets an attitude and begins to say we should have said something??? WE DID, to the waitress? Very disappointed and how it was handled on their management side. In addition, the manager did mention their Menudo is made on Friday to last the entire weekend.. food for thought* read more

You know, the problem with this place is that it has been hit or miss for me. Once I came here with my husband and I was given frozen food. Like, seriously the food was still frozen when you bit into it. Just getting a new plate was ridiculous. However, once when I came with my mom she was given the wrong order and although I was annoyed, it did not cause the amount of drama it did for me and was quickly corrected. I also did learn the gossip that the kitchen staff was messing up the orders. I hope, after seeing some of the more newer recent reviews, that the kitchen staff has either been retrained, fired, or whatever necessary, because when they are decent, it's a nice place to eat, but when they have a mishap it causes people to run away. It doesn't matter if most of the food (skip the chile con queso- it's too thin for my taste) is good if you unfortunately had one bad experience. That pretty much colors your experience. However, I'm a sucker for Tex Mex and really want businesses near me to do well. I'm a Yelp reviewer, not a destroyer of dreams. If you like Tex Mex this is an ok spot, but be mindful of your order, just in case they haven't fixed their issues, since I last came to visit. read more

I've been here twice to try the food with very different experiences each time. On the whole, my experience pretty much matches up with everyone else's-- decent food that's surprisingly cheap, but with service that can be very inattentive at times. On our first visit, the food came out hot, fresh, and reasonably quickly. My wife went with the tacos al carbon while I went with the Brenda's Platter, a combination plate of carne asada, queso, potatoes, rice, beans, and salad. It was good but not great, but well worth it for the price. On our second visit, I went with the tacos al carbon while my wife got an appetizer platter. My food came out okay, but her chicken flautas were frozen. We sent it back, then a guy came out with them packed to go, gave them to us, then came and took it to another table, then came back with another order of flautas. It was confusing, but at least it was all correct by the end of it. We don't come by here often-- Taqueria Arandas isn't that far away and has better quality and service, but we will definitely come by again to try out their weekend breakfast. read more

Went today, Saturday. Surprised it was not busy and all seated right away. Some items were mixed up and cold but decent. After receiving food the waiter never came back. We had wanted at least a drink menu, margaritas and more food.... 30mins after food arrive waiter came back we asked for water refills and margaritas. Got margs fast but no refills. Upon getting receipt we were automatically charged 18% tip. No deserved at all...made sense why she never came back. We asked why charged and the waiter got defensive and short. read more

Location is right off the service road/ 59S, so easy to get to from the Sugarland/Stafford area. I have not been her before but I noticed the place is fairly new but not busy unlike most restaurants when they are new. The chips that were brought out were very authentic and had a great crunch with them. I ordered beef and chicken enchiladas, food came out in a timely manner. The issues were the service, the waitress after taking our order never once came back around to see how we were doing and then didn't explain that the check is cashed out at front. So my colleague and I were sitting for a long period of time before we stood up and walked over to a register we assumed to check out. Went for lunch with colleagues this week. It's the old 59 Diner Building, and prior to that it was Mason Jar. Large dining room, lots of tables, but very few people, which was concerning. Waitress took our drink order and delivered them, we had to ask for chips and salsa. EXCELLENT green salsa; perfect amount of heat with super flavors!! The red salsa was "OK", but won't waste my time with it on the next visit. I ordered "Brenda's Burrito", Stewed Chicken beans, lettuce, tomato, avocado, sour cream wrapped in giant flour tortilla and covered with Chile con queso. Chicken was delicious, I like the stew chicken much better than grill, the flavor is more "Mexican" and intense. One of friends order the Street Tacos, said they were just like the ones in Mexico City at the little hole-in-the-wall joints. The one ordered Beef Fajita Burrito and said it was "good", but nothing outstanding. Service was slow and we had to ask for things twice, but the food will bring us back. Prices are very reasonable with food quality higher than the prices. With the 15-20 Mexican restaurants within 2 miles, Brenda's stands out as a very good value!! Same thing with comprable quality at El Tiempo or Pappasio's will cost you another $6-$8, and you won't find a green salsa as good at either of them! read more

We came here after a sports event and this restaurant happens to be a 24 hour restaurant so it seemed the right place to grab some late eats. The inside was clean and we were immediately greeted and seated. The wait time for our food orders was fairly quick and our waiter was friendly and attentive. For an appetizer we chose queso with fajita beef. The queso was creamy cheese goodness and the fajita beef was tender and flavorful. Tortilla chips were hot and fresh. The enchiladas were quite good and flavorful with a serving of Spanish style rice and refried beans which were also very tasty. The burritos were generous in size, savory and enjoyable. The menu is pretty extensive and has many combo and a la carte choices. It's a great place to satisfy a Tex-Mex craving at any hour. read more

This is the second time I have stopped by for takeout breakfast tacos and once again I wasn't disappointed. Chorizo, egg and cheese is my favorite there and the green sauce has a good flavor and a little bit spicy. While waiting I had a cup of coffee and it appeared to have a hint of cinnamon. I would have given 5 stars but they forgot to add the cheese to the bacon tacos, but I got charged for it. Shame on me for not checking. I have visited the Brenda's taqueria on Highway 6 and decided to come visit the new location for lunch on a Monday afternoon. Upon walking in, I noticed that the restaurant is was pretty empty, but very clean and lit nicely with the sunlight. We had to stand there for a while to have someone seat us however. It took our waitress about 10 minuets after being seated to get our chips and water, but saw that she brought chips and drinks to another group that came after us as soon as they were seated. We then ordered 2 pastor tacos, a fajita, and a barbacoa taco. As we were eating, I noticed many groups that were standing awkwardly waiting to be seated, or had seat themselves. The pastor tacos were my favorite as the meat was seasoned nicely and very tender! However, the barbacoa lacked flavor. I give this location 3 stars for cleanliness, the price, and the (overall) good food! However, I think the service could be a bit faster and more welcoming. read more

Stopped at the Bissonnet location, unless you from or know the Area, I would suggest you go to this location instead. I did like that they had a drive through where this one doesn't. This location is newer, larger and in a better location. Ordered a Brenda Burrito, Two Shrimp Tacos, Fajita Taco, Beef Casa, which was supposed to be chicken and a Barbacoa Taco. I had to save the Burrito for a meal tomorrow, I could only eat the Shrimp and Barbacoa taco. The Burrito is big, the Barbacoa disappointed me, wasn't bad but wasn't Cheek meat which is so much better. All in all the food was good. The reason I give one star is because I've come here twice on a Saturday and the service is very slow. They walk right past you and no water or to check if you need anything and this morning to top it off I purchased a milkshake that she charged me for a large and clearly is a regular or small.
