What a great breakfast spot. We stayed at Cacapon resort and wished we had gone here instead for breakfast the first morning. It was great and filling. They have a good tea selection. We were surprised that they didn't have a better coffee selection as a Cafe. I also thought the peanut butter and chocolate pancakes would have been chocolate and not regular with chocolate and peanut butter in top. But the minion loved them regardless. We came by on Monday May 23rd for an early lunch. We were greeted and seated right away. We ordered a Kale salad and Upside-down Burger. We waited a bit and our food was brought out. I was disappointed to find the brussel sprouts were already turning gray and the bottoms were also in my salad. I brought it to the attention of the waitress who just went back to the counter and complained about the customers who complained that day. The sad part is the rest of the salad was good. I was hoping they would at least apologize for the bad sprouts but the did not. The upside down burger was also good. I also ordered a little blackberry pie from their fresh baked goods which was delicious. I think the restaurant has great potential, but needs to work on a few details. Sadly we will not be back as the customer service is lacking, the food could have been fresher and they do not address issues when brought to their attention. read more

My little family was so happy to welcome Charlotte's Cafe to Berkeley Springs! They did a great job creating a comfortable and charming interior: nice booths and tables, hip lighting, and two well sized dining rooms. There are parking spaces outside in the small lot. Charlotte's just opened but currently it is cash only with printer paper menus. Friendly service and again, we were so excited about a simple breakfast/lunch restaurant right off the main road. I love their logo, a sunny side up egg inside a sun rising over a mountainscape. As far as the food, we ordered two breakfast scramble bowls and French toast. Everything was delicious. We would skip adding avocado next time as that was the only component that wasn't top quality. We'll be back soon! read more

We stopped at Charlotte's with our dog, Judy, and they had a lovely outdoor seating patio to enjoy the pleasantly warm June weather. Been driving past this place for the last year and just never stopped in until a few days ago. We had just had lunch so we weren't interested in the main menu but the sign out front said bakery so we popped in for a cup of coffee and a pastry. OMG, you have got to give this little gem a try! Hubby got the upside down peach cake and I ordered the plain cheesecake with homemade peach preserves on top. The baker, whom I will call a "baking magician", told me she uses local fresh ingredients as much as she can in her café. The $3.50 for cup of coffee, I felt was a little high priced but it was a huge cup and the coffee was good; they even offered to give you a fresh cup to go so that would be worth it. Hubby said his cake was a little dry but he could taste the freshness of the peaches that the baker used. I ordered a plain piece of cheesecake with the homemade peach topping/cobbler on top. I'll admit, I am a New York cheesecake snob and the plane cheesecake in the display case didn't appeal to me but I will also admit the flavor was very good. The topping was pure genius! The peaches were cut thick and had a nice sweetness but not overly sweet and whatever crumble she used on it was just amazing ... and I don't use that word often in my reviews. So good we went back the next day! A friend and I were traveling from out of town and had to try Charlotte's after seeing all the photos of their Fruity Pebbles french toast. (We got an order to share as a side - what a fun dish - and it was tasty!) The place was pretty busy, which is always a good sign, but we were able to get seated quickly both mornings. (The outdoor seating is close to the road but quieter than expected and has a great view of the mountain.) Anyway, all I have to say is brussel sprouts for breakfast? Yes please! I ended up getting one of the delicious breakfast bowls both days we went because it was so good. (And had my favorite veggie!) We also tried a few of their specialty mimosas (the sherbet one we got was amazing) and ended up buying some baked goods to bring home. We were passing through Berkeley Springs during a long drive in western Maryland to see the leaves changing. We stopped at Charlotte's Cafe for a late breakfast and we both order eggs. I was pretty specific about how I wanted them cooked but I had some difficulty getting them served to me the way I requested. They were eventually, though. I ordered the vegetarian eggs with grilled onions, peppers, kale, and Brussels sprouts, but there was barely any kale or Brussels sprouts in the mix. The man said his breakfast (omelet with chorizo, breakfast potatoes, and toast) was good. Both of our potatoes were just warm, like they'd been sitting aside for a while. I'm guessing that if we'd come earlier, the potatoes would've been fresher. The baked goods at the counter all looked delicious, but we didn't order any - we were stuffed from a big breakfast! Overall, our meal was just so-so, but somehow I think we just caught them during an off time. The cafe has a clean, inviting look and I would visit again if in the area. read more
