    Eggplant sandwich

Nostalgic venue in a quirky, historic WV town. We stopped for lunch at the Inn, and we noticed seats at the bar as we entered. Bartender was quick to greet, and efficient with drink service. We had the grilled romaine salad and eggplant pesto sandwich, both of which were unique and delicious. I have trouble chewing thin, flimsy foods such as cooked spinach or celery, so the grilled romaine was a challenge for me, but the dressing and chicken were perfect. The atmosphere harkens to a much earlier time, and it would certainly be a great stop for anyone who appreciates old architecture and history. Fantastic lunch, recommend!

Just. Stay. Away. Service was awful. Food was abysmal. Overpriced. Only positive is atmosphere.

Went there for breakfast. They don't serve breakfast, so we left. Parking is a problem.

The atmosphere was one of the best parts of the experience. The music was great, people were singing, and the whole place felt fun, relaxed, and like somewhere you genuinely want to spend time. The hostess was wonderful, and our server, Trinity, was extremely friendly, helpful, and welcoming. She genuinely seemed to enjoy what she was doing, and that made the experience even better. We started with drinks at the table, and both were excellent. The Washington's Rebellion Cherry Bounce was memorable and very well done, and the house smoked old fashioned was also delicious. We then had the Roasted Brussels, and they were absolutely amazing. The combination of honey, balsamic glaze, candied pecans, and parmesan was outstanding. For the main course, I had the Powderhorn Chop, and the flavor was very good. My only critique is that it would have benefited from a stronger sear and a bit more crust on the outside. A little more Maillard reaction, that browning of proteins and sugars that creates deeper savory complexity, would have elevated it even further. We also had a salmon special that evening, and that was outstanding. Dessert was another highlight, especially the warm pecan bourbon pie with ice cream, which was absolutely delicious. Service was a major strength. In addition to Trinity being so warm and attentive, other staff members, including management, came by to make sure everything was going well. We also appreciated that they offer a military discount. This was our first time here, and so far it is the best restaurant we have tried in the Berkeley Springs area. We were told they are expanding, and we are already looking forward to coming back, especially if outdoor seating is added in the future. This feels like exactly the kind of place we will return to often, especially when friends come to visit.

We happened to park right across the street from this place. Looked at the menu and decided this was the place. We ordered the Imperial Crab Balls to start. They were perfectly cooked and loaded with real crab, sitting on top of toasted baguette rounds. Then we ordered the Shrimp Salad with Bacon sub. Roll nicely toasted, tons of shrimp, bacon with lettuce and tomato. It was almost like a po' boy, except the shrimp were sautéed not fried. And the garlic truffle potato chips! I would eat a whole bag of those gems. Our server was top notch and the ambience was perfectly funky. We will be back, next time with our whole crew!

The space has a cozy, slightly speakeasy feel, with plenty of seating at the bar and tables for dinner. The music area is separate from the bar and dining area where we sat, which makes the layout feel lively without having the music sit directly on top of your entrée. There is also a related shop next door, The Naked Olive, where you can buy olive oils, balsamics, tapenades, and other dangerous things you convince yourself are "for later." By the time we were leaving early Saturday evening, they were getting ready for live music, which added to the local, come-stay-awhile feel. We started with a classic martini, and it was excellent. Perfectly balanced, cold, briny, slightly sweet, and served with blue cheese olives. A proper martini is not just a drink, it is a small personality test. We also tried the monthly special, the Dirty Devil, which I believe had bourbon, Coke, and salted caramel. It was good, but the classic martini was the clear winner for me. Service was friendly and helpful. I believe our server was James, and he helped us work through the menu without making us feel like we were preparing for a graduate seminar in small plates. They also honored us with a military discount, which I sincerely appreciated. Food wise, we ordered the Truffled Mushroom Pizza, which was genuinely good, with mushrooms, onions, peppers, and mozzarella. My only note is that the truffle was very subtle, maybe attending more in spirit than in full costume, but the pizza itself worked and I enjoyed it. We also had the Chicken Chesapeake, a sous vide chicken breast topped with crab and Chesapeake sauce. It came with a house salad and house vinaigrette, which was standard but good. As chicken breast goes, the entrée was well cooked, tender, and nicely finished. The crab and seasoning gave it some personality, which chicken breast often desperately needs. The mashed potatoes were hearty and solid. The vegetable du jour was the one underwhelming part of the meal; I am still not entirely sure what it was, and I do not think it was sure either. Overall, I enjoyed The Naked Olive Lounge. It may not be in my top three Berkeley Springs restaurants thus far, but it is definitely a solid entry in the local rotation. The ambiance is warm, the layout is comfortable, the service is friendly, the martinis are legitimately excellent, and the food is good, even if a few details could be stronger. The price point was reasonable, and I would happily come back, especially for a classic martini and live music.

Located on a hill - plenty of parking across the street. The restaurant is inside an older style home but it still has nice space, and is very quaint, quiet and intimate. Low lighting and just a very cozy atmosphere. The time of your reservation is the time of your seating so coming early doesn't mean you'll be sat early. Ordered a mixed drink from the bar and a half bottle of some wine for the table. It is a fixed price menu, but there are some very good options that cover a lot of different flavors and tastes. For an appetizer I went with the special soup: French onion - which wasn't the traditional kind with the cheese melted over the bowl. Instead it was a piece of bread with melted cheese in the soup. Not my favorite presentation I've ever had of this dish - but the flavor was good. Also tried the fried green tomatoes - which were good. Really liked the pimento cheese under the tomato slices and the other garnish sauces on the plate. For my entree I chose the filet mignon. It was paired with mashed potatoes and a cream sauce. Steak was ordered medium, parts of it were definitely rare. Still very good. Added a side of mac and cheese which was very creamy and good. For the dessert, I opted to go with the carrot cake. Probably the best dessert I've had in recent memory: cake was moist, the topping was a very sweet cream cheese and caramel drizzle. Overall, this place was very good. Our waitress was very personable and talkative, providing ideas and taking the time to make sure our experience was normal and comfortable. Would highly recommend here.

Review of Public House in Berkeley Springs, WV (3/2/25)…read moreAfter having Public House on our list for quite a while, we finally visited, and it was well worth the wait. The experience was very pleasant and unhurried, and we appreciated not having to drive far. The seating arrangement was comfortable, allowing for easy conversation with my husband without the frequent interruptions of loud noises. Our server was attentive and had to repeat all the specials because there were so many, which was impressive. Despite being a prix fixe menu, there were still plenty of options to choose from. For appetizers, I ordered the fried green tomatoes, which were definitely shareable. The portion size was generous. For the main course, I had the crab cakes, and once again, the serving was substantial. They certainly did not skimp on the portions. We shared a half bottle of Montepulciano wine, which was perfect and a great midpoint for the meal. The dessert was just the right amount to have a sweet bite without overindulging. Overall, we spent about 1.5 hours enjoying an intimate meal with a lot of good food to choose from in a cute, quaint house. Definitely recommended! L
