Another big shout out to Dan and his competent technicians for being the absolute best Mercedes Service place in Charlotte. With my previous long-lasting E300 gone, I was in the market for a "new" pre-owned Mercedes. About a month ago, I thought that I found the perfect one and took it to Dan to check it out for me. Well, thank God, I did! The car looked absolutely gorgeous but after Dan was finished with it, he found so many issues with it that the necessary repairs would run into the thousands of dollars. Therefore, he said he could honestly not recommend this purchase. As you can imagine, I was quite disappointed. But more importantly, so very grateful for his expertise and professional advice. He basically saved me from buying a 'beautiful looking' lemon! Well, I continued my search and Dan was nice enough to check my 'new' car out as well to make sure it was in good condition - and it was! I am now the proud owner of a GLC 300 that looks great, drives great and is in excellent mechanical condition. I had taken my for service at Woodie's Auto Service on Tryon before and been very happy so when my car broke down I took it back as a repeat customer. Woody's called and told me the repair was going to be $5200. I decided to come pick it up and take it for a 2nd opinion to Charlotte Star Service. Woody's did no work on my car & never told me that there would be a charge of $135 for a diagnosis. I took it to Charlotte Star Service and he repaired it and also added a dipstick that was missing and did additional repairs to my car for a total including tax for $1706. I think a customer should be aware of the diagnostic fee when leaving a vehicle for an estimate. Woody's basically hooked up a computer to my car for codes and quoted an enormous bill. You can buy these diagnostic machines online or at Advance Auto Parts.... all they do is give the mechanic the codes and then they read codes and quote. You can go to any lube and oil place and they will do the diagnostic for $20 or free. Charlotte Star Service was my 2nd opinion. The repair was $3,494 less than Woody's..... A HUGE DIFFERENCE!!! My car drives better now than ever. I am a female. My car is an older Mercedes. I felt it was the typical stereotype...little lady knows nothing about cars. Charlotte Star Service had a photo with a review here on Yelp of a lady in the same shoes as me. She went to Charlotte Star Service with her Porsche for a 2nd opinion. Repairs came in $3000-$$4000 less at Charlotte Star Service! That's why I took it there. My experience was identical to hers. Huge shout out to Dan at Charlotte Star Service! Honest mechanic who delivers excellent service at excellent prices. I am a customer for life now with my new mechanic. read more

Great service! We fortunately found this little gem when we lived in Cotswold. We moved 45 miles away a few years ago. We found another European service shop literally 2 miles away from us, but after 3 years of expensive invoices and no solution for our car's ongoing issues...we sent our Mercedes back to them! I have no clue how these guys have beein in business for 10 years. Have had my car there twice in the last 6 months on a recommendation from my regular mechanic. I was charged almost $400 between the 2 visits, for which they diagnosed nothing correctly; in fact what they told me they tested and WASN'T the problem, was EXACTLY the problem when I took it to a MERCB dealership. If i had gotten 400-one dollar bills and papered my wall with them i would have gotten better use out of them. My 3 yr old nephew could have taken his plastic doctors play kit and given me just as useful a diagnosis than these guys. MY ADVICE: if your MERCB is acting up, look these guys up online, write their address and phone # down, and make a note NEVER to call or visit here. read more

I have been taking my BMW 328i to Dan (owner) and the boys for three years. I feel very comfortable that I am getting honest service for a very fair price. I compared several service events to that of other shops or dealers and CSS has constantly been much cheaper. They do excellent work and the guys (Zack, Joe and John) are very knowledgeable and pleasant to talk to. I sent a long time BMW buddie to Dan's shop recently and he too had a great experience. I took my 1998 BMW 328i in to have the car diagnosed for multiple diagnostic (service needed) codes it was throwing. The owner called me 2 days later and told me the car was ready to be picked up. The bill came to nearly $1000. After having the car back for about 3 days, the service needed lights came back on. I surmise that all they did was to reset the indicators with a OBD II reader. I took the car in to Hendrick BMW and they performed the necessary maintenance of changing the brake fluid, new brake pads, and replaced the mass air flow sensor after which the service lights did not come back on. Hendrick charged me $1800 but I basically gave $1000 to Charlotte Star for absolutely nothing. This is the kind of repair shop where they will rip you off if they think they can get away with it. At the time I brought my car in I had New York plates on it so I think that might have been a factor in their decision to rip me off. read more
