I went there to get an estimate on a steering issue. They told me one part needed to be replaced, and once that was done, they would be able to tell whether something else needed fixing - meaning: my estimate was only going to be the first batch of the cost. I went home and searched for the part (which they quoted at 580 dollars) and found it for less than half the price. When I asked whether they could put that one in, they simply told me that if it doesn't fit, they would have to start charging by the hour. Long story short: Went to a different place (Auto Aimer's on Albemarle Rd) where they were able to find out the full scope of the problem and will likely get it done for less than half Pete's quote. UPDATE: The repair job is done, and instead of a bill of nearly 1000 dollars for the part and labor that Pete's had quoted me - and which was only going to fix part of the problem!!! - I got it all done for 211 dollars at Auto Aimers, including an alignment, plus 75 dollars for TWO parts that were broken which I found in perfectly good shape at a junk yard and that Auto Aimers was happy to put in without grumbling. So, never go to Pete's unless you want to lose a lot more money than you need to. read more

I tried Pete's Auto,.... Lawyers Rd based on recommendations here and was thoroughly disappointed. They are crooks and I would not ever go there again!!! they told me I needed items replaced that were just replaced on my vehicle. Told me I had a dead battery that needed replacing after they left the ignition on overnight without turning it off. they are crooks - do not ever use them. horrible experience!!! read more

I had a problem with my BMW that something was drawing on the battery. Even after returning the battery to Autozone and having the alternator checkout 3 days later the battery was dead. Frustrated I took the car to Pete's Auto Service 9/2/2018. I explained what was going on and left the vehicle with him. Pete wrote up a ticket and noted an excessive battery drain and began a series of diagnostic tests. Three days 9/5/2019 later I pick up the car total cost $249.91. (included was $219.82 diagnostic) My ticket read, Vehicle now starts normally with no power loss. Four days later 9/9/2019 early morning the same thing, the car won't start! I jump the car and drive it to Pete's. The car was there for 2 additional weeks. Pete seemed to think this brand new battery was the problem and insisted that I buy his battery for $190 as opposed to the $135 battery from Autozone. I refused. I bought a $140 battery from O'Rileys. He replaced the Battery Cable Neg. at a cost of $274.01. He did tell me my water pump and thermostat may have to be replaced. He never said it was the cause. I picked up the car on 9/18/2019 my cost was $402.68. (included was another diagnostic at $109.9) My ticket said road-tested engine did not overheat. Four days later, the car would not start, new battery dead. I had car towed to another shop, 2 days the new shop tells me the water pump caused the battery drain, he replaces it and the thermostat. He said the battery Negative cable was hardly the problem. It sits in the trunk covered and never rust and looks new. My cost for the repair, $1020. No more problems. I go back to Pete looking for maybe half of my money back because I left there with the same problem I had when I came in and $650 gone for a battery cable and tests. Pete was very-cooperative and a shouting match ensued. Needless to say, I left and will never ever go back there again. I Implore you to stay away from his shop. I will also be reporting to the BBB. Hopefully, people will read this review before they select Pete's shop. I also read the other reviews on here and there are more negative than positive. read more

Pete is honest fair and im a believer in you get what you pay for, with that said!! if you get repairs anywhere else cheaper!! In my experience!!! there is always something else they will say needs fixed, that does not need fixed, and almost always have to take back to them for something else!!! this happened to me alot before i found Petes. We brought our Mercedes into Pete's for a simple oil change because of the great reviews and the fact he was a local guy that worked on the vehicles. Boy were we disappointed. Three days after the oil change we noticed an oil spot on our garage. Saturday morning we took it in to Hess Tire and sure enough Pete's forgot to replace something during the oil change and it was causing a small leak. So thank you Pete for us having to pay for two oil changes within a week of each other. We will not be back. read more

I took my beautiful classic car in and they wrecked it(big gash on door and gashes on the beautiful tires) I was told since it was a older car there was bound to be scrapes on it. They had the gash fixed no charge but charged me thousands for other things saying they had to fix another problem twice. After a few weeks my car would not start. read more

Several weeks ago I was looking for a neighborhood, affordable, family-run mechanic and with all the excellent reviews of this place I figured I would find it but not so much. Every quote they gave me for services was higher than other places, even some corporate repair shops. A lot higher. I also think I got lied to just so they could make a few extra bucks in fees. $25 in fees on my bill that I have yet to understand. Will definitely not be going back for future repairs. They're friendly, very nice and have a clean shop but I personally don't want to overpay for services just for niceness and cleanliness. read more

I brought my Honda Odyssey van to this shop yesterday because the previous owner of the van said that was where he had it serviced, I needed an oil change and inspection. I was told that my coolant was low and I had a leak, I needed a new radiator, heater valve, back brakes . Total cost approx., $1100.00 . I have had this van over a year and never ever had a problem with anything on it. I said I would call them back next week to schedule that. I TRUSTED THEM. I drove home 10 miles, parked. Got in my van that evening to go to work, stopped at a light and noticed my air conditioner wasn't cooling, and temperature gauge was climbing. I called Pete's right then, and told them I have never had an issue with this car doing that and now coincidentally, it's running hot and air isn't cooling, they said bring it back. I took it home immediately and as I pulled in drive, there was a wet spot, something had leaked. I have a paved white driveway have noticed if there was ever a leak of any kind. I took it back today, and told them to show me where the problem was, he showed me a wet sponge around the radiator. I told them that car has always ran perfect, cold air no overheating , everything worked perfect, Now its running hot, no A/C or heat, and I know nothing was wrong with those parts and I would have noticed a leak, incidentally, I wait in carpool line once a week for 45 minutes, sometimes with the van and A/C running and IT HAS NEVER OVERHEATED OR HAD ANYTHING BUT COLD AIR. I'm pissed because I have no doubt at all that someone there caused this damage to my car, to insure I would return for the 1100.00 repairs. I see this stuff on tv with the hidden camera shows, and how these places take advantage of women. Its really disgusting because I sat there and had a conversation with this guy, and he seemed really nice and professional. Now I will have to pay someone (legit) to do this, also, I called Auto Zone and a radiator is 150.00. So they are ridiculous with these prices. The irony is, I would have been a loyal customer and referred people to this shop, but in their greed and dishonesty to make 1100.00 they lost out on much more business in the long run. I will warn everyone I know about this shady business. I may contact the local news and inform them of this, or maybe check social media and see how many other people this has happened to. I work hard for my money and I don't appreciate being taken advantage of. read more
