A small and casual place to go to for comfort food of rice porridge. There are different types from chicken, beef and different combinations of seafood. We had the chicken and the seafood combo. The bowls are big and unlike Chinese or Vietnamese , there are carrots in them. Each juk comes with 3 small plates of veggies. Our favorite was the Kim chi which we added to the juk for extra flavor. For those who don't want juk, there are other options like bentos. We had the pumpkin juk for desserts where the bowl was just as big as the entrees. To be honest, I'm not always in the mood for porridge but, when I am, Charm Juk hits the spot! I came in when I was feeling sick and felt as though their hearty, delicious porridge and complimentary warm roasted corn tea breathed new life into me. I got the chicken ginseng juk and LOVED it. I also tried my friend's shiitake mushroom with shrimp juk and thought it was really tasty. No complaints about the food. They have GOOD PORTIONS and savory sides to mix into the porridge: pickled bean sprout, mushrooms, and a spicy paste. There were some issues with service: no one greeted us/ sat us when we entered and so we grabbed our own menus and picked a table. There were no cups on our table which we had to specifically ask for to get the complimentary tea in the front. The waitress also apologized for the delay in getting a water container to our table. However, she was quick and great about replacing our sides! The shop gave off strong Mom-and-Pop vibes which I liked. So I'm Korean so I will have a strong bias for legit Korean food. And my friends, this is legit Korean food. Once you've tried bibimbap, Korean bbq, and/or some of the various soups/stews over at the HMart next door, you have to come and try the simple juk (porridge) at this place. It's a small quaint spot tucked away right in the corner next to HMart, and has some seating but it definitely gets filled up quick during meal time. We went there around 7pm on a Friday and it filled up real quick. We ordered the spicy octopus juk and the chicken juk. Our waitress was very efficient as I think she was the only one working for everyone, and got our order and food very quickly. She spoke both excellent English and Korean. She even made sure I was ok with the spicy octopus being made spicy via the power of kimchi. And hey if you're not in the mood for porridge, they seem to have those stone bibimbap style things as well on the menu. Even I wasn't quite sure if I wanted something that seems as mundane as porridge, but I'm glad I did. The spicy octopus juk is actually pretty spicy but it's a slow continuous burn from Korean red chili flakes and has the funk of the kimchi which adds to the taste. I was afraid that the octopus would just be a few pieces grouped up in the center or something but it was actually very small pieces so that it's in every bite. And given the octopus's chewy texture, you definitely noticed it and it added a seafoody meatiness to the dish which was evened out by plenty of fresh bean sprouts within as well. The banchan was simple, some sort of pickled mushrooms, a scallion kimchi, and some bean sprouts. My wife's chicken juk was savory to the max. Perfect for cold weather or when you're feeling sick. Not necessarily just simple and bland, but filling, warm, and savory as well. They also have soy sauce if you ask for it. Fancy house version with sliced scallions in a little metal dispenser, none of the small packet nonsense or those kikkoman bottles. The soy sauce definitely adds another extra layer of flavor. We saw a lot of people coming to pick up orders, and that makes a lot of sense. We got a lot of food so we took some home to go and they reheated perfectly the next day. It's probably one of the perfect foods to takeout, as it won't go bad or soggy, and it's easily reheatable. This may be our new to-go spot when it's cold rather than getting something like pho. This place is a bit small but the past times I've been here, it has never been crowded. They normally give out a jug of water for the table but you can also get some complimentary roasted corn tea which is at the front near the cashier. They have a large variety of Juk and also hot rice bowls. I've tried the fresh fish juk and the shiitake mushroom and shrimp juk. I've also had a bit of the chicken rice bowl. Everything I have tried has always been amazing. The side dishes they come with are also delicious, especially the marinated mushrooms. I have no clue what kind of sauce they use but it is literally the best mushrooms I have ever had. The juk is always super creamy but light. I add the marinated mushrooms in with it and it's the perfect combination that just gives the juk an extra bit of flavor. The chicken rice bowls are also delicious and flavorful. My wife loves soups and I have heard of congee for many years but never tried it so why not start with its Korean counterpart juk? I had the beef bulgogi hot pot and loved it. Perfect portion and the rice became beautifully crisp at the bottom. The add on veggies were fresh and the chili paste seemed homemade. My wife had the pumpkin juk which to my surprise was Amazing! This is one of my favorite Korean restaurants in Dallas. I almost cried when I saw that they offer takeout. I'm a huge fan of comforting congee (or juk in korean). Even when it's 100 degrees outside, I could always go for a bowl of my favorite chicken congee. I love the waitresses here too. They're really nice and always quick to make me comfortable, even though I don't speak Korean. I love the boricha tea offered with our meal. And I think their simple Banchan is one of the best. They don't lay out a ton. Just a few exceptionally well done ones. My favorite congee is probably the chicken but I also love the abalone congee. Both are exceptionally well seasoned and the portions are generous. I always finish my because I love it but I've seen people take leftovers home. This porridge place was absolutely delicious. I had just the normal vegetable juk, which was $7.99. It came with sides of bean sprouts, mushrooms (so good!), and a spicy sauce. I think all the savory porridges come with these. Portions are pretty big. Looks like an average sized bowl, but it holds a lottttt of porridge. If you're not terribly hungry, I would recommend only buying one and sharing with a friend. Alternatively, grab a to-go container and save it for another mouth watering meal. The porridge itself had carrots, shallots, cucumbers?, and some other veggies in it. Great taste with so much flavor. Not bland at all. Now I just need to come back and try their sweet porridges! This place is really small, keep in mind it is next to H Mart which is a super busy supermarket, so you will and probably might have to park far but let me tell you it will be worth it. I came on a Sunday around 1230 and it really wasn't that busy I was immediately greeted, that was a nice touch. We got to order our food pretty quickly which was a nice thing I noticed, we had the vegetable porridge and we also had the rice bowl. The porridge was so so so flavorful I absolutely loved it! It makes me want to come back and try all of the other flavors. A nice touch is I love that their menu was nice and explanatory. There was a rice bowl one that I had with seaweed & tobiko and some other vegetables and it was delicious. The little dishes on the side for side items was awesome. Really enjoyed my visit here a month or so ago. I'm used to Vietnamese congee, which has a stronger flavor profile, but I still enjoyed my order. The flavors are simple and pure and would be perfect if I wasn't feeling well. The prices may seem high for a bowl of congee, but the serving is huge (enough for two people). I was starving and actually finished the whole bowl. It was delicious! I also asked for it to be spicy, which is why the congee has a green hue to it. I believe they added a green pepper to the broth. It was the perfect amount of heat. The waitress was nice and the cook even stopped by the table to ask how everything was. Whenever i go i always HAVE to get the spicy seafood Juk. every time it's a hot meal that brings me a sense of inner peace and it feels like it balances my life a little even if it is just porridge. I'm from way-out-of-town and I've been eyeing this place a lot lately through Yelp for some time. I found time to go up to Dallas earlier this month and the weather outside then was the perfect weather for some hot porridge so that added to my excitement when trying this place out with my bf and his friends. However, the first porridge I had from this place was just "ehhh... it's aite" for the taste. I expected a lot more from this place according to all the reviews but the juk I got was far below average. I should've gone for the more safer juks like their pumpkin juk or red bean juk but noooo... I went ahead and ordered their seafood combo juk just to find that the "seafood" they served in the juk was just small frozen seafood that you can easily find at some grocery like h-mart. The taste like I said was average, but given that the day was extremely cold outside, I gulped it down in a flash but other than that, I would recommend to try avoiding any juk with seafood in them if you don't like the feeling of getting ripped off but who cares what I say, right? I can't say the same for my bf and his friend's juk/hot pot but I guess it was alright for them. The one and only thing that saved the day was their small side dishes that came with the juk. They were so addictingly good that I even finished my boyfriend's side dishes. Well I definitely learned my lesson about the seafood juks but I'll be back and would like to keep coming until I find a juk that I like cause they have a variety of juks and even korean hot pot rice for those of you that isn't all that into porridges :P read more

Came here yesterday in the mid-afternoon after finally awakening to a decent hangover in order to slowly nurse myself back to health with their juk. I guess the flavor could be on the mild side for those looking for the big flavors they've come to expect from Korean cuisine, but from my Chinese perspective, porridge like this is usually eaten when one isn't feeling well, and the lightness in flavor was exactly what I was hoping for.
