i would not recommend going to Charming Nails. The woman in charge was just rude and very mean the whole time. Lua and Susan are very welcoming and provide excellent nail care. I have an unusual growth on one of my toenails and Lua always takes the time to make this nail look as healthy as possible.I always leave feeling pampered and rejuvenated. I have been going to Charming nails for many years, but am ashamed to say I have never taken the time to write a review until now. I am delighted to have found this place. I'm new in town and tried a different nail salon that was not at all satisfactory. This place is clean and quiet (at least on this Sunday afternoon) which was very restful. I require 2 things for a good pedicure experience: massage chairs and no forced chattiness with the technician. Susan was professional and extremely competent, and I got a great pedicure. I would definitely go back. (I think there may be a language and culture barrier that is affecting their customer service for some of the people who rated this place only one star.) read more

I'm not going back. I have had pedis and manis here before, but am sick of the unfriendly treatment (even when I call ahead to book an appt. the woman is grouchy). AND they don't sterilize the tools. Gross!!! The mani/pedi lasted long, but at the risk of getting an infection. Time to try a new place. read more

I am so happy this is my neighborhood nail place, because they do an excellent job! I've had my mani and pedi last for weeks and weeks and weeks... only reason I've had to go back in is because my nails grew, not because the polish wore off. In response to other comments, I think it is a good idea to make an appointment, because they don't always have a huge staff on hand to handle multiple drop in clients. Re. the idiots who complain about rudeness, I'd say they have no experience with Vietnamese culture. Your comments are ignorant. This salon is fabulous, as is the work they do. It's run by two sisters--and sometimes the daughter of one. Occasionally they have Tony, who now lives in San Diego. Loua, Susie's sister, is my favorite for pedicures. Don't expect to walk in and get served; if you do, you're lucky. They are busy all the time and don't welcome big gaps in their schedules. They make money when they're doing nails. They try to stack appointments and if there's a big gap at the end of the day, they leave. Can you blame them? read more

Charming Nails is a super-clean nail salon with the nicest people. They have always done a great job on my nails and have worked me in on the few occasions that I did not have an appointment. I love the comfy massage chairs and definitely recommend this nail salon to anyone that's not yet familiar with it. Plenty of parking in the back too. read more

This place is awesome! I have only been here once. I booked an appointment one full day in advance, so I would recommend the same. This is the cleanest nail shop I have ever been to. It is super quiet in here and they are playing relaxing music. The area is perfect, there is a slight ocean breeze and plenty of free parking. They did a great job and the price was comparable to places that aren't nearly as nice. Oh and the woman who did my pedicure did a great job and was through in 30 minutes flat! Wow. read more

Lua does a fantastic job. Very meticulous. I think the problems people have with this salon is that English is the second language for the staff here, causing problems in communication. They also do have a lot of steady customers with standing appointments so probably can't accommodate walk ins as easily as places with a larger staff. read more

I read the previous reviews and should have listened! I am here for the Summer and tried out this place for a pedicure and a gel mani. First, the pedicure seemed fine in the beginning but she cut them far too short after I asked for a simple trim. Second, the gel mani didn't even last a week. I've been wearing gels for years and am a supporter of opi. This salon only had a handful of gels to choose from none of which were the opi brand. I went in 5 days after my mani to ask for a redo and she basically refused me. I STRONGLY believe that if you want a quality mani/ pedi that you avoid this salon at all costs! read more

Incredibly rude. I live around the corner and walked in to try to get a manicure. I was not greeted by anyone and when someone finally noticed me standing in the doorway I was just told no and wouldn't take me as a walk in. I asked to make an appt for the next day and the lady looked at me and said no, I have to work and turned back to her current customer. Fine I will take my local business elsewhere. read more
