The only reason it's 4 stars is because I think the shop in general could use some TLC. A good cleaning would do wonders. They do use pedicure tub liners, and their instruments are sanitized.. so they are hygienic. But appearance wise, it's a bit dated, and there is acrylic dust everywhere. BUT the manicure itself was great. I don't know his name, unfortunately, (I should have asked) but he did a really nice job. He listened to what I wanted and was very gentle. He paid attention to detail and really looked over my nails extensively. And asked if I liked them so far several times. They use warm lotion and towels, which is really soothing. I don't live in the area but am here often, so if it happens that I'm in need of a manicure and here in town...I'd come here again.

Been to Rainbow nails a few times and loved it each time! Definitely found my new spot. I've had a few different techs and they each pay great attention to quality and are very open and communicative around style/look which is important and can sometimes be hard to come by. Found my new nail place! I came in for a fill and Tim killed it. He was super gentle with my nails and shaped them perfectly. Very affordable ($24 for regular fill + a nail fix). I liked that he didn't rush. I don't mind waiting on getting my nails done if someone is before me. I'd like the same type of service too and Tim delivered on that. They also know the names of everyone who walks in, love that. I'll be back for my next fill!

Lin did an amazing job with my gel French. She was detailed and obviously knew what she was doing. I always get gel French at different salons and this is a location I will mark for future visits.

I started going here about a year ago on a recommendation from my friend and it's next to my hair salon. They have 5 pedicure massage chairs and 3 nail stations. The same 4 people are always working and I would make an appointment and they stay on schedule with the appointments too!! Tina always does my pedicure and does a great job. I needed a pedicure ASAP and my regular shop was closed. Rainbow Nails accommodated my schedule and worked me in at the last minute. There was no wait-time as can be the case when an appointment is made at the last minute. The salon is small and clean. My technician was welcoming and excellent. She cut my nails at the desired length and the quality of the polish job is excellent. I'm so happy I called and made an appointment. read more

My favorite nail guy from Ocean Nails left, so I was in a pickle to find a new salon! On my first try at rainbow nails, I totally scored! Tim took instructions so well and gave me a perfectly natural acrylic look, which is so hard to do! The salon smells great, is clean, and has a really friendly, family vibe. As other posters have said, this is a group of professionals who know what they're doing, both in terms of giving great nail service as well as honoring time commitments for those with an appointment. I was able to get an appointment very quickly. I showed up on time and they seated me right away...none of that ask me to choose a color and sit down, only to make me wonder why I bothered for an appointment in the first place! Tim gave a great gel manicure plus put an acrylic on a broken thumbnail. I asked for rounded square and that's what I got. He made helpful suggestions when I needed guidance with color and was just a really cool guy and easy to communicate with. I'm two weeks post appointment and my nails still look fresh as he didn't flood my cuticles so they are growing out very naturally. New favorite place for nail care for sure. read more

So happy to have gotten my acrylics done here. They are so pretty. I had been here before for mani-pedis but always went to my trusted nail artists in Oxnard for the acrylics. Tim did such a good job. He was very gentle when removing the old nails. It took some time but he was very nice about it. I recommend this place. Called ahead a few hours before I wanted to come in, was able to make an appointment for later in the afternoon. Got a full set of acrylics and a pedicure. The staff worked fast and I got both services done in about an hour. Paid $54.00 for both services. Not bad! Was told a fill will cost $18. Older salon, older massage chairs, ambiance is not spectacular or fancy but overall totally worth it. Good service, friendly staff, convenient and quick. Will definitely be back! read more

Well, I was in a hurry to get a pedicure three days ago and went here. I had the manicurist remove my calluses, he used what looked like a cheese grater...he went so deep that I wasn't able to wear shoes since I went! My pedicure was fine but the pain wasn't! I called them that night and I believe that I spoke with the owner. He informed me that sometimes they have to "go that deep to do a proper job". Love love love!!!! I had the most amazing experience here! My nails look great for the first time in a looong time. The family who owns the nail salon is very friendly. Lin is so sweet and was very attentive, helped me pick a color, and she listened to what I wanted. She even gave me tips to help me take better care of my nails between visits. Came in for the first time to get my acrylics taken off, which is usually done by soaking the nails in acetone. The nail tech clipped off the top of my pinky acrylic nail and started digging under with an unused acrylic nail. I told him to stop because it was absolutely the worst pain in the world and he seemed annoyed. Then, I asked him to soak them in acetone (the normal way) and he said no because it would take too long. So now my nails are going home looking worse than they did when I came in. read more

They did a really good job and took their time, whereas most nail salons I've been to in Santa Barbara are very rushed and careless. I was pleased that they do chrome nails, which I've also had trouble finding. Defiantly glad I found this place. read more

Tim did an amazing job!! After going to multiple nail salons in SB and Goleta, I'm soo glad I found this place! Came here for an acrylic fill, got my nails done at another place and they were horrible. But Tim revived my nails and made it in a perfect shape and made them flawless! Went in for a full set and pedicure. Was in and out within an hour. I was able to read a book on my phone, and relax while I was being pampered. The man who did my acrylic nails did an amazing job. I showed him a picture of what I wanted done and he did a great job. I love my nails and will be coming in again. Prices are great for SB. I've found my new nail salon! read more

I stopped here while passing through town on my way to a wedding. The place itself was not especially clean, (minus one star) the walls need some painting & the floors weren't spic & span. HOWEVER, the staff know what's up when it comes to nails. I've had my fair share of mani/pedis, but I think the polish I got there looks the best I've had anywhere. Still zero chips or smears or cracks 5 days after it was done! Price was $39 for the 2 services & tips can be left on credit cards, which isn't always the case, but adds convenience. Staff was also very friendly & kind, I would go back if in the area again. read more

I LOVE this nail salon. I've lived in Santa Barbara for nearly two decades and have been to quite a few nail salons... and yet this one is by far the best! I love that they take their time and don't rush the process. I can feel the care and thoroughness they really put into their services. I love also that it is a family owned business, and it feels homey in there. Also, amazing prices!!!! Tim does an amazing gel manicure, and really takes his time to check in and make sure I like it. And my pedicure was also really incredible. I highly recommend this place. read more

Walked in to rainbow nails for the first time today. I was immediately greeted and asked how I could be helped. Great customer service. I wanted to get a full set of acrylics, and they were able to help me out right then and there. He asked me to choose my color, and then have a seat. Tim did my nails, and did an incredible job. He was very polite, and gentle, and did great work. It took maybe about an hour or less. He worked quickly but didn't seem to be rushing at all. And I loved that he didn't try to convince me to get a gel top coat, he politely helped me chose my regular color. And a full set was just $27! A real bargain. I will definitely be coming back to have them filled by Tim at Rainbow nails. read more

I had trouble communicating with them. Water in tub started out too hot, the massage chair was uncomfortable. The young man did not pay attention to my age and applied too much pressure when massaging. They seemed a bit distant to me, the job was satisfactory but I will try another salon next time. read more

Great place! I have been here several times, and each time they have done a great job on my manicure and pedicure. They have a great selection of colors and a very gentle touch. The prices are great and one does not need an appointment but it may be best to call ahead first. I highly recommend Rainbow Nails. read more
