Manuela and Danny provided superior service during our visit. They were both attentive and friendly. Manuela provided us with the history of the building and encouraged us to walk atou and see the historic items still there. When I had seen an item on the lunch menu that wasn't on the dinner menu, Danny was quick to be sure I could get the meal I wanted. First time trying oysters and am glad that I tried them here! This was a stop on our food tour and we were coming in for oysters and shrimp (prawns it seemed when we got them). I had never had oysters before so I was a bit nervous. They were massive when they came out, also coming with cocktail sauce and horseradish. Our tour guide recommended stirring the sauce and horseradish in so I figured, "why not? Try the entire experience all at once." It was....a lot and I'm not too sure if I'd seek oysters regularly. However, I am glad I tried them here. I don't think if I got them somewhere else that they would be prepared correctly and offered in such an elegant way. I went here during one of the hot summer days. Me and my girls sat outside as it was lovely for the little breeze. The inside was too hot because the AC wasn't strong enough. I would also recommend making a reservation if you plan on sitting indoors especially on a busy weekend. It was lovely to sit outside it wasn't stuffy. The building had a lot of history ask about it. Everyone's food was delicious except my friends lobster mac and cheese which she said needed more lobster and they came back with extra lobster pieces to put in. Which I felt like they could have made a new mac and cheese and added more lobster as by now it's cold. I had the peanut mango mahi mahi dish and it was delicious. My other friends dishes were good. The only thing was some of our food wasn't hot enough. My friends Oyster Rockefellar was hot because it was baked in the oven. She loved it. This has always been a fav of mine and it did not disappoint. The inside is so old world with amazing ambiance. I sat at the bar and they let me charge my phone. The bartenders were busy but still managed to take care of me. The new england clam chowder reminded me no one does it better than new england. Beware the chives on top if you are not a fan. My entree was the lobster and shrimp carbonara. Not heavy and the added cheese on top gave it extra Zaz. Can't wait for my next trip to boston. read more

Hi, we had a group of 15 at the chart house before our boat chart on Longworth went out. So we were in a rush, we had people joining late, my phone died, and then I left my son's hat at the restaurant. And I just wanted to come in the service staff for being fantastic! They charge my phone, they got us out on time, I had the kimchi calamari which was fantastic and the lobster and shrimp linguine Carbone which was also super delicious. But I was super grateful for how our server went out of his way to accommodate us including taking a picture getting the check out fast, getting the food out fast and getting us a bag of drinks. And taking my son's hat to the hostesses who returned it! All in all it was a great visit and I would highly recommend it, also cool that it's the third oldest building in Boston. read more

I was there at 11:30 during the sail fest 7/11/26. They had the tv playing info commercials in my ear for hour and continued. I asked for them to change station or turn off tv and they said they were too busy. The next people sat at our table were tall enough and turned off the tv. I just called the Chart House manager and told them my idea about not turning the tv unless they put it on an interesting channel. The manager hardly was listening and was speaking to someone on the other side. Their motto is excellent dinning experience. This is why I am writing a review. Clearly they could not handle a busy day in July in Boston. We had reservations for a large party, which they did not honor. We got stuck outside with wire gauge tables stuck together and without umbrellas for the majority of our party, in the heat of the day. Wait staff was friendly, but clearly did not have their act together. As an example, brought drinks out two at a time, one in each hand...who does that? We ate here over the weekend to celebrate my dad's graduation from Harvard. We were all in town from Wisconsin, and while we have been to other Chart House locations, this was our first visit to the Boston location. The building is absolutely gorgeous - formerly the John Hancock Counting House, I loved that it was steeped in rich New England history. The staff was very kind, but my dad walks very poorly, and we were disappointed that they weren't able to accommodate our request to be on the first floor instead of the third. Considering there is no elevator, and there are a lot of stairs, it made it hard on my dad. That alone is the reason I am giving this restaurant 3 stars. The food was delicious, and I was thrilled that there were so many seafood options, given that we were right on the wharf. The New England Clam Chowder was by far the best I have ever tasted. Creamy with succulent clams and potatoes, I wished I had ordered a bowl instead of a cup! For my entree, I chose the shrimp linguine, and it was very good. I enjoyed the pesto in the dish, as well as the crispy prosciutto. For dessert, I opted for the lava cake - a staple in our family, we always get it when we go to a Chart House location. read more

While showing a friend around Boston, we made our way to the Chart House for dinner late one evening. My friend has a gluten allergy so finding places to eat was challenging, but luckily their menu had several options for her. To start, I ordered a bowl of clam chowder, and for my entrée, I ordered the blackened salmon which came with a seasonal vegetable and rice. The chowder was creamy and delicious. The blackened salmon had the perfect char to it, and the seasonal vegetables were seasoned quite nicely. My friend was able to enjoy a Caesar salad and she also ordered the blackened salmon but substituted her side dishes. I would've never thought I'd get one of the best prime ribs at this spot, but I did! I'll admit, I haven't tried that many different prime ribs, but Chart House nailed it tonight. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and unbelievably delicious! The 3 potato garlic mash it's served with was awesome too. We just moved into the area and were recommended to try Chart House as it is a staple to the Boston area. Damn were we disappointed. Let's start with the service, while the staff was very nice it took 20 minutes to bring a glass of wine that we ordered upon arrival. The server who brought out our app (muscles) walked around two three different tables asking "who had the oysters". Please know what you're serving. There were also no paper towels in the women's bathroom. Next the food, our muscles came out cold with flat torn bread that was supposed to be "grilled baguette". For dinner we ordered the seared halibut and lobster risotto, and the lobster and shrimp carbonara. The halibut was way over cooked, to the point of disappointment. Topping my halibut was one short black hair. Filthy. In the lobster risotto I received merely one piece of lobster. The carbonara was water (not sure how they accomplished that) and could have been made better at home. Lastly the silverware had crusted food on it and we had to ask for a new rolls. Over all do not recommend this place, the hype is in the name and there is no quality in the food or service. read more

We made a reservation for 20 people for Sunday, July 12, 2026 on open table weeks in advance, it included 1 person in a wheelchair and 1 person using a walker (so we couldn't access the upstairs). My husband confirmed this reservation with open table. A week before our reservation we stopped by the Chart House to make sure they understood our needs for the reservation. They assured us we would be all set and the table would be set for 20 when we arrived. On the day of our reservation, when we arrived, they said sorry, we sat a group there 30 minutes prior to our reservation time (someone was in a scooter). They didn't know what to do with our group and said give us time to figure it out. after 15 minutes, the only option was sitting outside on the patio in the heat and they could only give us 1 umbrella. They claimed as tables emptied, they would bring us more umbrellas, they did not bring us any more umbrellas. They did not offer us any complimentary drinks or dessert. Very disappointed with this restaurant and not much of an apology from them. Think twice before going with a large group! We won't be going back! read more

The Chart House was selected as the venue to host a family reunion for 21 people (8 people from out of state visiting and 13 locals). Location was perfect, parking lot to accommodate cars, beautiful building, ground floor dining to accommodate mobility impaired individuals and restrooms on ground level plus menu selections. The space reserved for our party was perfect and it seemed like we were in a private room. The wait staff - Sofia, Alfredo and Kim were outstanding!!! I came here for dinner with my husband, my parents and my in-laws. We started with calamari, shrimp cocktail, and meatballs. Shrimp cocktail was great and came served "smoking" on dry ice. But the kim chee calamari was my favorite! I've never had calamari like this and the sauce that came on it should come on all calamari everywhere! For my entree, I ordered the lobster stuffed scrod and it was fantastic! It was a perfect portion size, stuffed with plenty of lobster and just melted in your mouth. I ate the whole thing! For dessert, my husband and I shared the chocolate ripple mud pie and OMG. It was one slice but I wanted to eat the whole pie! Ambiance was fine. Food was mid. Lobster roll was mediocre. Not really any flavor to the lobster, roll or mayo base it was in. Lemon wedge saved it. Fries were stale. Server came by once to take our drink order and once for our food order and acted like it was an inconvenience and never came back. The steak was a bit tough and cooked more well done than medium as requested. Was kind of disappointed. Could only eat about half. The highlight was the Chocolate Lava Cake. Including a prior visit to the bar several weeks beforehand where we talked to the bartender Jen about it, to my first phone call with Miruna and later conversations with Nicole, we felt well taken care of from start to finish. We love Chart House in New jersey and this one is in a historic building so we decided to stop in. Had a reservation for 5:15, were seated right away. The interior is much different than NJ but I loved it, it has a lot of charm and fits well to the Boston vibe. We waited for a bit until someone came over for the first time but once a server came over, he was very apologetic and explained that he didn't know we were seated as there is multiple floors, we completely understood. After that, the service was quick, food came out very quickly. We ordered two apps, the ricotta meatballs and peppered ahi tuna. Both were very yummy. Went to the Chart House for dinner recently and I would recommend this spot if you're looking for a fancy upscale restaurant next to the waterfront! What I look forward to the most at upscale restaurants is the great service they provide to our table. For this matter, we went as a big party and the servers did a great job handling our table and being understanding about minor inconveniences (i.e. order mix ups, water refills, etc). I am also a fan of their decor and dim lighting they set during dinner time. Valet parking is also present at the front door. Great for company dinners! As for the food, I typically don't order this but I really really enjoyed the coconut crunchy shrimp entree, especially since it comes with this coconut cream sauce that complements it so well. The shrimp were coated lightly but were very crunchy at the same time. I also enjoyed the mango sticky rice that it came with. I'd definitely get this dish again the next time I'm here. I ordered the lobster bisque, however I was not a fan of this soup since it had a very strong sherry flavor and little, if any, lobster bits in the bisque. The clam chowder tasted just okay. The sauce on the kimchee calamari also tasted more like a sriracha mayo rather than a kimchi sauce. Their burger was also surprisingly pretty tender and juicy! Their truffle fries are a big portion and have a good balance of truffle and cheese as well! We always order the hot chocolate lava cake, and the mini was a great size for those who can't have a full cake to themselves. We went for happy hour and we're not impressed. The bar held about 8-10 people. We were excited about the happy hour oysters Rockefeller and did enjoy them, the service, not so much. We each had a pomegranate martini that was good, but if you wanted a conversation the bartenders were not engaged. We ended with the prime rib slider's which were okay but they didn't even bother with cleaning away our other dirty dishes so I had trouble eating and left a slider and walked out. I was halfway through my steak and lobster tail ( an expensive meal) when a cockroach crawled right out from under my plate. Yes, you read that correctly: a cockroach. The waiter actually killed it right on the table, next to my food. When I told the manager, their response was unbelievably casual. They said, "We sprayed for them today, so that usually happens when we attack their homes." Seriously?! That's their explanation for a roach showing up on a dinner plate at a supposedly fine dining restaurant? As if that weren't insulting enough, they only took off the sides and appetizer from the bill. Not the main dish that the bug literally came out from. Chart House was decent. It definitely would have been better with better service. My group went on a Sunday in June in the early afternoon. Chart House is situated on the wharf in Boston very very close to the aquarium. We were able to walk there. Best place to park would be the parking garage near the aquarium. My party of three was sat right away. Despite being sat basically immediately, our server did not greet us for over 15 minutes. She gave us water and then did not come back for a while to see if we were ready to order. I only ordered one cocktail the entire time due to the slow service. I would have gotten more had the service been better. The menu had a good amount of options and variety to order. They did have a great selection of seafood. The prices were decent for the location. I got a margarita which I expected to be large based on price but was "normal" sized. It had a lot of ice so felt small. The food was very good. We got the chopped salad and chicken sandwich which were both very good. I was tempted to get this fish tacos but they came with ranch on them which felt very odd to me. I would rather have a crema or aioli on them instead. The chopped salad was good and the presentation was awesome. It had to be mixed well to eat well. The sandwich was great although the portion of fries seemed small and they were nothing to write home about.
