Had an interesting snack and drinks at Chart House yesterday. We sat at the bar ordered drinks given everytime immediately by Jen. She was running around, making drinks for the waiters and trying to take care of tables in there.... and it was 90 degrees . We tried to ask the other bartender for food she answered our question and walks away. Never followed up. We asked for our check from the other girl. Walked away again saying ok. Jen heard and grabbed and asked if we we were going upstairs for lunch. We said we tried to order but nothing. She no hesitation.. apologized profusely asked what we wanted. Got Steve to come talk to us.. had it comped. We stayed another hour. She is a true bartender. Never stopped, heard everything. My only complaint after that was that we left her a $100 tip and we told her it was only for her and she informed us we pool. We will be back because of her EXCELLENT SERVICE.. she and a manager by the name of are the reason we left 5 stars. They want above and beyond. read more

We are in Boston for the night and after doing some sightseeing and tours, I made reservations at the Chart House. Excellent decision. Food quality was on its game. We tried everything, from the clam chowder, to mussels, to meatballs to prime rib to the creme brulee sampler. With a white wine flight to drink during dinner. Service can make or break the best of establishments. Juan took care of us and I need a 7 star button on here for him. From the second we sat down to the second we left, he was always there to take care of whatever we needed. Helpful and courteous. He wasn't "hovering" but also wasn't non-existent. Hopefully that makes sense. Great sense of humor and very personable. From the gentleman that checked us in to the crew we talked to on the way out, everyone made you feel very comfortable and welcomed. To top it off, we used their valet service to park. First time trying oysters and am glad that I tried them here! This was a stop on our food tour and we were coming in for oysters and shrimp (prawns it seemed when we got them). I had never had oysters before so I was a bit nervous. They were massive when they came out, also coming with cocktail sauce and horseradish. Our tour guide recommended stirring the sauce and horseradish in so I figured, "why not? Try the entire experience all at once." It was....a lot and I'm not too sure if I'd seek oysters regularly. However, I am glad I tried them here. I don't think if I got them somewhere else that they would be prepared correctly and offered in such an elegant way. Stopped into the Chart House last night for some dinner. Was greeted by a fantastic bartender. I noticed they had a couple new items on the menu so I decided to give the Blue crab dip a try and it was absolutely delicious. For the main course you can never go wrong with their prime rib. Its always on point! I wasn't able to finish it due to the large portions but I also wanted to leave room for dessert. I had the new bread pudding with bananas. I can honestly say that I could eat that for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Needless to say its my new favorite. Thanks again CH I will be back soon. read more

My wife and I decide to stop in for their happy hour after reviewing their online menu. We arrived at 4 PM, what I believe the website noted was the beginning of happy hour, only to find out it was actually 4:30 PM! That was OK! Manuela and Danny took great care of us. Manuela whipped us up some great cocktails while we waited. I really enjoyed my Four Roses Manhattan and my wife absolutely loved her bourbon and chocolate cocktail! After perusing the lounge menu and comparing it against the happy hour menu, we decided to go ahead and order off the lounge menu. I ordered their fish tacos, substituting a Caesar salad salad in lieu of their french fries while my wife ordered their prime rib, sliders as described. Our meals came out relatively quickly. I must say my fish tacos and Caesar salad were absolutely delicious! My wife enjoyed her prime rib sliders immensely; however, the French fry presentation could've been better and the au jus was just over the top salty. After another four roses, Manhattan, we decided on a dessert of Boston cream pie. It turned out not to be a classic Boston cream pie, but still a very tasty variation, indeed! This has always been a fav of mine and it did not disappoint. The inside is so old world with amazing ambiance. I sat at the bar and they let me charge my phone. The bartenders were busy but still managed to take care of me. The new england clam chowder reminded me no one does it better than new england. Beware the chives on top if you are not a fan. My entree was the lobster and shrimp carbonara. Not heavy and the added cheese on top gave it extra Zaz. Can't wait for my next trip to boston. read more

Went to the restaurant on Monday around 5 o'clock we were immediately seated upstairs. Customer service was on point. Our waitress was amazing. She made solid recommendations. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful. My lobster risotto was so good. The risotto was creamy. Salad was fresh and crisp. The chocolate old-fashioned was the best old-fashioned. I went here during one of the hot summer days. Me and my girls sat outside as it was lovely for the little breeze. The inside was too hot because the AC wasn't strong enough. I would also recommend making a reservation if you plan on sitting indoors especially on a busy weekend. It was lovely to sit outside it wasn't stuffy. The building had a lot of history ask about it. Everyone's food was delicious except my friends lobster mac and cheese which she said needed more lobster and they came back with extra lobster pieces to put in. Which I felt like they could have made a new mac and cheese and added more lobster as by now it's cold. I had the peanut mango mahi mahi dish and it was delicious. My other friends dishes were good. The only thing was some of our food wasn't hot enough. My friends Oyster Rockefellar was hot because it was baked in the oven. She loved it. We ate here over the weekend to celebrate my dad's graduation from Harvard. We were all in town from Wisconsin, and while we have been to other Chart House locations, this was our first visit to the Boston location. The building is absolutely gorgeous - formerly the John Hancock Counting House, I loved that it was steeped in rich New England history. The staff was very kind, but my dad walks very poorly, and we were disappointed that they weren't able to accommodate our request to be on the first floor instead of the third. Considering there is no elevator, and there are a lot of stairs, it made it hard on my dad. That alone is the reason I am giving this restaurant 3 stars. The food was delicious, and I was thrilled that there were so many seafood options, given that we were right on the wharf. The New England Clam Chowder was by far the best I have ever tasted. Creamy with succulent clams and potatoes, I wished I had ordered a bowl instead of a cup! For my entree, I chose the shrimp linguine, and it was very good. I enjoyed the pesto in the dish, as well as the crispy prosciutto. For dessert, I opted for the lava cake - a staple in our family, we always get it when we go to a Chart House location. read more

While showing a friend around Boston, we made our way to the Chart House for dinner late one evening. My friend has a gluten allergy so finding places to eat was challenging, but luckily their menu had several options for her. To start, I ordered a bowl of clam chowder, and for my entrée, I ordered the blackened salmon which came with a seasonal vegetable and rice. The chowder was creamy and delicious. The blackened salmon had the perfect char to it, and the seasonal vegetables were seasoned quite nicely. My friend was able to enjoy a Caesar salad and she also ordered the blackened salmon but substituted her side dishes. Hi, we had a group of 15 at the chart house before our boat chart on Longworth went out. So we were in a rush, we had people joining late, my phone died, and then I left my son's hat at the restaurant. And I just wanted to come in the service staff for being fantastic! They charge my phone, they got us out on time, I had the kimchi calamari which was fantastic and the lobster and shrimp linguine Carbone which was also super delicious. But I was super grateful for how our server went out of his way to accommodate us including taking a picture getting the check out fast, getting the food out fast and getting us a bag of drinks. And taking my son's hat to the hostesses who returned it! All in all it was a great visit and I would highly recommend it, also cool that it's the third oldest building in Boston. read more

I would've never thought I'd get one of the best prime ribs at this spot, but I did! I'll admit, I haven't tried that many different prime ribs, but Chart House nailed it tonight. Perfectly cooked, perfectly seasoned, and unbelievably delicious! The 3 potato garlic mash it's served with was awesome too. Last night after walking in the rain to catch the boat home I figured I'd stop into the Chart House for something good to eat. As always I was greeted with smiles. I got myself a cocktail that was recommended by the bar tenders. I followed that up with a cup of their SPECTACULAR clam chowder and one of my personal favorite dishes the Prime Rib. Came with my girlfriend and parents for a holiday meal, very festive! I had no idea how many floors it was, we were seated on the third floor. Booths were tight with the tables beside us if there were more than two people per side. We got the clam chowder, seared ahi tuna, and kim chee calamari which were all delicious! I came here for dinner with my husband, my parents and my in-laws. We started with calamari, shrimp cocktail, and meatballs. Shrimp cocktail was great and came served "smoking" on dry ice. But the kim chee calamari was my favorite! I've never had calamari like this and the sauce that came on it should come on all calamari everywhere! For my entree, I ordered the lobster stuffed scrod and it was fantastic! It was a perfect portion size, stuffed with plenty of lobster and just melted in your mouth. I ate the whole thing! Ambiance was fine. Food was mid. Lobster roll was mediocre. Not really any flavor to the lobster, roll or mayo base it was in. Lemon wedge saved it. Fries were stale. Server came by once to take our drink order and once for our food order and acted like it was an inconvenience and never came back. The steak was a bit tough and cooked more well done than medium as requested. Was kind of disappointed. Could only eat about half. The highlight was the Chocolate Lava Cake. We love Chart House in New jersey and this one is in a historic building so we decided to stop in. Had a reservation for 5:15, were seated right away. The interior is much different than NJ but I loved it, it has a lot of charm and fits well to the Boston vibe. We waited for a bit until someone came over for the first time but once a server came over, he was very apologetic and explained that he didn't know we were seated as there is multiple floors, we completely understood. After that, the service was quick, food came out very quickly. We ordered two apps, the ricotta meatballs and peppered ahi tuna. Both were very yummy. Went to the Chart House for dinner recently and I would recommend this spot if you're looking for a fancy upscale restaurant next to the waterfront! What I look forward to the most at upscale restaurants is the great service they provide to our table. For this matter, we went as a big party and the servers did a great job handling our table and being understanding about minor inconveniences (i.e. order mix ups, water refills, etc). I am also a fan of their decor and dim lighting they set during dinner time. Valet parking is also present at the front door. Great for company dinners! As for the food, I typically don't order this but I really really enjoyed the coconut crunchy shrimp entree, especially since it comes with this coconut cream sauce that complements it so well. The shrimp were coated lightly but were very crunchy at the same time. I also enjoyed the mango sticky rice that it came with. I'd definitely get this dish again the next time I'm here. I ordered the lobster bisque, however I was not a fan of this soup since it had a very strong sherry flavor and little, if any, lobster bits in the bisque. The clam chowder tasted just okay. The sauce on the kimchee calamari also tasted more like a sriracha mayo rather than a kimchi sauce. Their burger was also surprisingly pretty tender and juicy! Their truffle fries are a big portion and have a good balance of truffle and cheese as well! We always order the hot chocolate lava cake, and the mini was a great size for those who can't have a full cake to themselves. Do note that the smaller version is less "lava cake"-y due to its size compared to the full size version. Clearly they could not handle a busy day in July in Boston. We had reservations for a large party, which they did not honor. We got stuck outside with wire gauge tables stuck together and without umbrellas for the majority of our party, in the heat of the day. Wait staff was friendly, but clearly did not have their act together. As an example, brought drinks out two at a time, one in each hand...who does that? The Chart House was selected as the venue to host a family reunion for 21 people (8 people from out of state visiting and 13 locals). Location was perfect, parking lot to accommodate cars, beautiful building, ground floor dining to accommodate mobility impaired individuals and restrooms on ground level plus menu selections. The space reserved for our party was perfect and it seemed like we were in a private room. The wait staff - Sofia, Alfredo and Kim were outstanding!!! They were attentive, professional and kept the flow of the night going at a good pace. The food was delish as always and offered a an array of choices!! Drinks were good as well!! We went for happy hour and we're not impressed. The bar held about 8-10 people. We were excited about the happy hour oysters Rockefeller and did enjoy them, the service, not so much. We each had a pomegranate martini that was good, but if you wanted a conversation the bartenders were not engaged. We ended with the prime rib slider's which were okay but they didn't even bother with cleaning away our other dirty dishes so I had trouble eating and left a slider and walked out. Including a prior visit to the bar several weeks beforehand where we talked to the bartender Jen about it, to my first phone call with Miruna and later conversations with Nicole, we felt well taken care of from start to finish.
