Chart house is one those chains that doesn't feel like it is. Chart House Boston is situated on a wharf in the Boston Harbor. It's ins beautiful area with a great view and just a short walk from the end of the wharf with incredible Harbor views. We took an Uber, but parking and accessibility didn't seem the best. The service was incredible. One of the friendliest and most helpful servers we've ever encountered. It was great to learn a little about him and his family. The food was dynamite. We had the crab cake (not pictured), and the corn slaw made the difference. In my opinion it could have used a tad more searing to get a slight crunch. I had the Lobster Stuffed Boston Scrod, and this ROCKED. So delicious and you could tell it was a quality dish from the first bite. Absolutely Disgusting and Unacceptable I cannot believe what just happened at what's supposed to be a high-end steakhouse. I was halfway through my steak and lobster tail ( an expensive meal) when a cockroach crawled right out from under my plate. Yes, you read that correctly: a cockroach. The waiter actually killed it right on the table, next to my food. When I told the manager, their response was unbelievably casual. They said, "We sprayed for them today, so that usually happens when we attack their homes." Seriously?! That's their explanation for a roach showing up on a dinner plate at a supposedly fine dining restaurant? As if that weren't insulting enough, they only took off the sides and appetizer from the bill. Not the main dish that the bug literally came out from. Chart House was decent. It definitely would have been better with better service. My group went on a Sunday in June in the early afternoon. Chart House is situated on the wharf in Boston very very close to the aquarium. We were able to walk there. Best place to park would be the parking garage near the aquarium. My party of three was sat right away. Despite being sat basically immediately, our server did not greet us for over 15 minutes. She gave us water and then did not come back for a while to see if we were ready to order. I only ordered one cocktail the entire time due to the slow service. I would have gotten more had the service been better. The menu had a good amount of options and variety to order. They did have a great selection of seafood. The prices were decent for the location. I got a margarita which I expected to be large based on price but was "normal" sized. It had a lot of ice so felt small. The food was very good. We got the chopped salad and chicken sandwich which were both very good. I was tempted to get this fish tacos but they came with ranch on them which felt very odd to me. I would rather have a crema or aioli on them instead. The chopped salad was good and the presentation was awesome. It had to be mixed well to eat well. The sandwich was great although the portion of fries seemed small and they were nothing to write home about. Awwwwww....The Supreme Chart House! My baby and I just dined there today for Valentines. I must say the whole staff and establishment blew us away mentally ....Again! Food! Drinks! Staff! Atmosphere! We opted for bar seating, which turned out to be the best decision of the night thanks to the incredible service. A huge shout out to Danny and Manuela! They were both exceptionally kind, personable, and truly went above and beyond: Custom Service: I requested blue cheese stuffed olives (which aren't usually on the menu), and Danny didn't hesitate to make them from scratch just for me. Expert Mixology: Manuela crafted a phenomenal pineapple tequila drink for my husband that was perfectly balanced. The food was amazing! Started off with the meatballs well seasoned and delicious followed by some clam chowder, very tasty. I had the filet mignon with bleu cheese sauce it was cooked perfectly medium rare. Everyone loved their entrées from the prime rib to lobster. The dessert was delicious. To celebrate my birthday they made me a special drink table side and I sipped it the rest of the evening. My party of three had a Friday night reservation at 7:30. We arrived on time, only to be told by the host that it would be a 15-minute wait. That caught us off guard--isn't the point of a reservation to ensure your table is ready (or close to ready) upon arrival? We were seated within the 15-minute window, but then it took another 15 minutes for a server to appear, and another 15 after that for our drinks to arrive. When I asked a question about one of the cocktails and paused for a moment to consider her answer, our server clicked her pen impatiently--a small gesture, but not a welcoming one. The food arrived about 40 minutes later. I don't mind waiting for food if it's worth it, and in one case, it absolutely was: the lobster bisque was divine--easily among my top five ever. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal didn't measure up. The shrimp tasted off (fishy), the crab cake was bland, and the scrod was rubbery. Service continued to be inattentive throughout the evening. We weren't the only ones having issues--while my husband was in the restroom, he overheard a young boy (probably around 8 years old) approach the host to report poor service at his family's table. He told the host, "My mom said this is unacceptable." Honestly, I admired his boldness! On a more positive note, we sat outside, and the setting was lovely on that July evening. I must say, the food was spectacular here, as well as the ambiance of the place. However, for being an upscale dining restaurant in Boston, there were a few things that just didn't give the upscale vibe. One, we got a nice bottle of wine and we're not asked to try it, just immediately poured majority of the bottle into the glass. Second, and I don't know why this is my pet peeve, but the restaurant was almost completely empty initially, and they sit us right on top of the only other couple in the restaurant. I just think that giving people space, even if it's ONE table in between, is just a courtesy thing. It makes both parties look twice to be that close to one another, when an entire restaurant is empty. Lastly, the drinks did take a while, as well as the service. Manuela provided us with the history of the building and encouraged us to walk atou and see the historic items still there. The right amount of garlic and shallots with the white wine garlic butter sauce! Classic combo and it hits every time. I ordered the sea bass + lobster risotto. I do believe this was my first time ever ordering sea bass and I was not disappointed. It was perfectly cooked. Flaky and tender. The lobster risotto was nothing short of amazing! So creamy but not overcooked and mushy. The lobster was juicy and so flavorful. It truly was the best meal of the trip. I wanted to lick the plate but I couldn't it was that good. There was a roasted tomato beurre blanc on the plate and everything just paired so well. My taste buds were jumping jumping. We just moved into the area and were recommended to try Chart House as it is a staple to the Boston area. Damn were we disappointed. Let's start with the service, while the staff was very nice it took 20 minutes to bring a glass of wine that we ordered upon arrival. The server who brought out our app (muscles) walked around two three different tables asking "who had the oysters". Please know what you're serving. There were also no paper towels in the women's bathroom. Next the food, our muscles came out cold with flat torn bread that was supposed to be "grilled baguette". For dinner we ordered the seared halibut and lobster risotto, and the lobster and shrimp carbonara. The halibut was way over cooked, to the point of disappointment. Topping my halibut was one short black hair. Filthy. In the lobster risotto I received merely one piece of lobster. The carbonara was water (not sure how they accomplished that) and could have been made better at home. Lastly the silverware had crusted food on it and we had to ask for a new rolls. We made a reservation for 20 people for Sunday, July 12, 2026 on open table weeks in advance, it included 1 person in a wheelchair and 1 person using a walker (so we couldn't access the upstairs). My husband confirmed this reservation with open table. A week before our reservation we stopped by the Chart House to make sure they understood our needs for the reservation. They assured us we would be all set and the table would be set for 20 when we arrived. On the day of our reservation, when we arrived, they said sorry, we sat a group there 30 minutes prior to our reservation time (someone was in a scooter). They didn't know what to do with our group and said give us time to figure it out. after 15 minutes, the only option was sitting outside on the patio in the heat and they could only give us 1 umbrella. They claimed as tables emptied, they would bring us more umbrellas, they did not bring us any more umbrellas. They did not offer us any complimentary drinks or dessert. Very disappointed with this restaurant and not much of an apology from them. Think twice before going with a large group! We won't be going back! read more

The view is amazing and the seating outdoors is very well set up. The place is tucked in a neighborhood. They did not have a fry oven so no French fries or fried fish here. The massive tuna salad was enough to feed three adults. I go the clam chowder it was fine, a grade of B. The servers are young college boys but they are attentive and helpful. I actually got a salad with shrimp on it. The shrimp had a good flavor but I am pretty sure the shrimp was previously frozen, it had a slight taste of that freezer flavor. I am super sensitive to frozen fish. The swordfish special blackened was excellent! The prices are moderate. We went for lunch and really enjoyed looking out at the boaters and the lovely grounds. This was my second trip to Charthouse. It is a beautiful restaurant. It is a great date night spot. We started with the lobster bisque and Caesar salad. The bisque was perfection...lots of pieces of lobster. The Caesar salad was the perfect size for one person and very tasty. We split the huge, 18 oz prime rib. The flavor was on point. We ordered medium rare, but it was closer to medium. Very good...even at medium. Medium rare would have been better. Service was perfectly timed. The location is cool, right on the water. Feels slightly touristy due to the ferry stop nearby, but it makes for good people watching. read more

I wanted to share my extreme disappointment with the service and food we received during our visit on August 9, 2025, at approximately 8:45 PM. While the dessert was excellent, the crab legs were extremely chewy, and the flavor was mediocre--certainly not worth the $175 price. The bartender was notably rude, frequently cutting off customers with "give me a second" while they were placing orders. The guests seated next to us even commented that this had been the norm during most of their time there. We requested to speak with the manager twice, yet no one ever came to address our concerns.
