Can I give this place 10 stars instead of 5? I really enjoyed my fish, and my husband absolutely loved the lobster bisque. I wish I would've taken some photos but the night was magical. It's definitely fancy. Next time I'm in town I probably would go and have an early dinner so I can enjoy the sunset. Service was impeccable and the waitresses were very kind and accommodating. The energy was overly positive in the area and there was also a wedding reception that was occurring at the same time we could peek into the courtyard where it was taking place. Let's start with dessert-- get the lava cake, it's perfection! Downside is you have to order it when you order your food or you will be waiting a long time. Service was prompt and professional. Coconut shrimp were delicious but I'd keep them as an appetizer rather than an entrée next time (as an entree they were served with rice that I didn't find particularly tasty). The kid's plate also has almost as many shrimp (tempted to just steal a few from my toddler next time haha). Kale autumn(?) salad was fantastic; slightly vinegary but well balanced with subtle sweetness. My husband's prime rib was cooked according to his desired doneness but because the seasoning on the outside edge of the rib was mild I would highly recommend ordering one of their infused butters (bummer that's an upcharge and not included). Kids' meals were large and a good value (especially at a restaurant with such pricey items it's nice to have some more affordable options for the kids). I think they were like $12 each?... As for seating, there are many tables by the windows but no booths (bummer our view was kinda blocked by a table with a party of 2 across from us). The online reservation system is kinda weird. Feels like you're answering the same question through different websites multiple times, but it worked because we were able to get our table same day (a Friday at 4pm). read more

We have loved this place for a great many years and was one of our top choices of places we were craving once we could safely go out to restaurants again. We ALWAYS get their prime rib because it is the BEST! They have many yummy items ib their menu and yet the prime rib is what keeps us driving two hours for dinner. Pre-pamdemic they had a phenomenal salad bar. Since that is no longer an option, we both got their chopped salad (sans red onions). Their squaw bread is also fabulous. Dessert is an experience too. Just all of it is great including their service. 10 out of 10 from us The view of the trees is from our window at dinner. This place is really about 3 1/2 stars. Again wishing that yelp allowed us to have a little bit more fine-tuning. Overall the ambience is great, and if you choose to eat in, you would love the view. During the pandemic though, we have chosen to do takeout instead. And the food was hit or miss. Overall, the selection is great and the portion size is good, but the quality of food varies from day to day. The only reason it gets a lower score is the random quality of the food. FOOD: Like I said, it's pretty random if you'll get a yummy prime rib or an okay one. The creamed spinach, same. The amount of bread varies. Once we got two of each kind of bread and once we didn't. The biggest disappointment was getting unflavored prime rib. Just a true disappointment! When they do it right, it's great! But don't go on an off night. When might that be? I don't know. SERVICE. Again varies. All of them are nice people, but some are more service oriented than others. And to not allow us to do take out on my wife's birthday? Come on! We were seated downstairs which was a let down since I got a 7:45 reservation for the sunset. I'm also 9mo pregnant and didn't want to hike up and down stairs to use the restroom as often as I'd need to. Staff were nice and friendly. The downstairs area seemed to be filled with family's and loud kids so that was equally a let down as this was our very last trip before baby comes and we wanted more of an adult evening out. What we came for was the King Crab legs and filet mignon and literally they had neither. Total let down. My spouse ordered a wonderful $50 glass of red wine which was brought to him in a glass for white. Again.. the little things matter. We enjoyed the shrimp appetizer and I liked their peach Palmer. I ordered the NY strip and it wasn't cooked proper so it was sent back as I waited my spouse ate... finally it came back (still not cooked right) and it was super tough. Even had a hard time cutting it with their steak knife. I had maybe 3-4 bites and I couldn't tolerate it. I tried to wash away that experience with a cup of decaf and the lava cake which I found to be chewy and the coffee wasn't hot at all. I hiked back up to the restroom since I wasn't feeling well. The drop-dead easy choice here is the 3-Course Dinner. Its the best value. You choose a starter - we went with the chopped salad. It was a solid A-. Then you choose a protein. The clear choice here is the filet mignon. Its a bit small at only 7 oz! But its delicious, and come with a potato garlic mash (potatoes). Lastly, you choose a dessert. The choices are pecan or pumpkin pie, mini lava cake, or the dessert of the night. We went with the lava cake. It was very rich. Not that small either. Chart House is a restaurant that excels at every aspect regardless of the location. Our group of 8 came to dinner here on a busy Saturday evening celebrating a bachelor party and were exceptionally well taken care of by the staff. Our server was awesome. He worked hard, was helpful, and never seemed frazzled by our large group size, and admittedly a few members of our party that had imbibed just a touch too much. The food at Chart House is always excellent as well. I had the "Chart your course" option and had clam chowder, prime rib, and their chocolate lava cake. All of these were delicious and well prepared. For our party of 8 between all the food and drinks it was just over $600, which was an extremely good value based on what we had paid for our lunch at another restaurant earlier that day. I highly recommend giving Chart House a try wherever you may find one, but specifically in the Stateline location, where the sunset over Lake Tahoe is stunningly beautiful. 5 star view, 5 star service, and 5 star food! read more

A party of 14 people were celebrating a bit too loud. I could hardly carry on a conversation with my husband. I didn't complain because I'm sure the restaurant made much more $ from the large party. I started with a martini and it was perfect! My husband had a glass of wine that was served in a glass that looked dirty, but was just scratched? A new glass was offered. I decided to try one of the special wine flights. Some of the glasses were dirty! Our server kindly returned the flight to the bar and returned with clean glasses. The manager deducted the cost from our tab which was appreciated. My husband had the prime rib and I had the petite filet. We ordered the Asian green beans to share. I had a heirloom burratta salad and it was good. It would have been better if the tomatoes were not sliced so thin. We had a small lava cake for dessert and it was dry and hard and had no lava! It was supposed to be complimentary, but our server errored on the bill. We had a Landry club credit of $25 and they comped wine flight, so we didn't mention it. He said he has been here for 6 years so if you visit make sure to ask for him. The food was stellar and it was definitely on par with Gordon Ramsays restaurant. We had our wedding reception there on 9/22/24 in the banquet room. It was perfect! We had just under 50 guests attend. We had 6 tables of 8, a sweet heart table, a cake table and a bar area. It was absolutely perfect! We also had private access to the grass area outside as well. Brittany was so helpful and always so quick to respond to emails! She even called today (the day after the event) to ask how it all went. The staff was so nice and accommodating. The food was the talk of the night! It's rare you go to a wedding and have actual good food & we intended to make sure our guests enjoyed their meals and left satisfied! The filet was DELICIOUS! My husband had to fish, YUM! And we also tried a chicken dish. It was perfect! They even let us decorate how we liked, bringing all our own stuff to add some flare and we got to bring a speaker for our own music as well. Besides Edgewood's fine dining I think this is the only other option in South Lake Tahoe. Ambience and views are definitely 4 stars, but the food lacked in so many ways. Caesar salad was wilted and didn't look appetizing to begin with. Who wants to eat lettuce that looks like it has been sitting in the fridge way too long. My prime rib was good but nothing to boot about. The meat wasn't juicy or flavorful. Fresh horseradish had zero kick. Bummer since I smother it on my prime rib and love the burn. Presentation of all meals we ordered was mediocre at best, except for the coconut shrimp. Although the way it was plated I swear I was on a tropical vacation somewhere else. I'm not really a red meat eater at all anymore but when I do have it it's always at a restaurant. I told my fam I would take them to dinner for getting/taking me to the airport and letting me and my mom stay at their place for the holiday. They chose this place. We came at night, but I would love to see the window view of the lake during the day. Reservation is needed and the place is full up so call in early if you want to do same day. I ordered the prime rib, a classic anywhere you go and of course it has to be medium rare for me. The flavor on it was excellent and it was cooked perfectly. It comes with garlic mashed potatoes but they have other sides to add on to it as well. The 10oz. prime rib was $35. And if you still have room try the lava cake, there's something about a lava cake from a steakhouse that just hits different. Also, random, but their water was so good. The staff was very friendly and our waiter was awesome. But one thing, they really go hard trying to get you to sign up for a membership card, they asked like 5 times throughout the night.. Is it a restaurant membership or a cult you're trying to sign me up for?? lol If you want the prime rib and lava cake they have a $50 solo deal where you get those and a soup or salad too. We had a great experience here at Chart House, there were four of us and we all loved our drinks and dishes. Let me start off with the drinks, what a amazing list of cocktails and what a great variety too! They had so much to choose from we all ordered a vodka tonic, a Manhattan, the margarita and a pomegranate mojito. For a appetizer we had the lobster bisque, and wow, so flavorful with hearty pieces of lobster. For our main dishes the guys had the prime rib and mashed potatoes and the girls had the Mahi and veggie hash. Both were great, my only wish was that there was more hash on the Mahi plate otherwise seasoned and cooked perfectly. My family and I used to come here all the time over the years and we loved it. The view is gorgeous and the food was delicious. The Chart House was one of our favorite spots to dine in Tahoe! BUT... this most recent time we went the experience was truly awful. When we first had arrived our waiter rushed us to order. I was looking over the cocktail menu and I had barely had a chance to read the description of a cocktail before the waiter took the menu out of my hands and rapidly talked through the cocktails. When he was done, he said so which one do you want? I ended up picking out a cocktail with Gin and Yuzu. Can't go wrong with a Gin cocktail right? He brought our cocktails out and mine tasted as though there was no Yuzu at all but straight Gin in a glass. Later on, I politely asked for a different drink because I was unable to drink this one. He exclaimed that he was disappointed because he had made that drink himself. He acted put out about it for the rest of the evening. Later on, he comes back to our table and states that he was going to be watching the Warriors game so that he would be gone for some time. Both my mother and I exclaimed that, "Of course, that is completely fine!" We are both Warriors fans as well and we wouldn't mind that. Unfortunately it did become a problem because he was gone for 60 minutes and we had been done for a while just waiting for the check. It felt absurd to be rushed through ordering but then to be sitting there for an hour at the end of the meal. By the time he did come out, he didn't offer us the check but instead tried selling us on some membership to the restaurant and several other restaurants that were located in nearby casinos. My mother said no thank you because we only come up to Tahoe once in a while as we live in the Central Valley of California. We do not gamble and usually only come to ski in Tahoe so the membership would be completely useless to us. Again, he stated that he was "disappointed" and eventually dropped off our check to us. The Chart House used to be our spot where my family would come to dine and enjoy each other's company. But we are not coming back here after trying to be guilted into a membership and had a completely terrible dining experience. read more
