I just called the general number to get more information on services and the guy I spoke to was super rude!!! He tried to push me unto the $30 bundle deal. When I asked if I had heard him correctly he tried to tell me I wasn't listening. When I confronted him on his rudeness he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about. Charter's Internet is pretty reliable. I've had one outage in the last two months. Like other cable providers, their upload speed is much, much lower than their download speed. Their customer support is terrible. I've had an issue accessing some of their services, and I've been calling for more than two weeks with no resolution to the problem. They always say they will have their tech support call me back, and they never do. Every time I call, the representative has no clue as to what is going on with the issue. Their base television package is quite generous, especially if you like sports. It includes the NBC Sports Network and Fox Sports 1 & 2, with most other providers make you pay extra for. read more

Being a Charter customer for 20+ years, I can say it is the worse, I have been on the phone trying to speak with someone who can help who says hold on one moment And you will hold and hold, awwwwww I even tried going on line and try to speak with a operator which has also been changed. you have to ask a question, that dose not help they treat there long term customers like ?????. The only provider we have is charter. also can not watch T.V with out so many black outs, and glitches which can drive a crazy lady nuts. Bad experience. Tried Charter for a one month period, free of charge to see how we liked it. Salesperson nice. Installation person nice and he said if we needed to cancel this service, he would come out and put everything back the way it was. System was installed quickly. Received 4 dvr's, 1 hd receiver, telephone and internet services. The telephone and internet was just fine. The quality of the picture and voice on the tvs were not up to par with directv. The representatives from the office were not pleasant. In addition, this is not a whole house system so if you taped something on one dvr, you had to see it on that dvr. My wife was not happy with this set up so I called my my salesperson and he said to take the equipment back to Charter with no charges. All wires had been cut and a lot of rewiring so I could not put everything back as it was. I called salesperson and installer. No more answers from them. I called Charter and asked who would put everything back and they said that would be Directv. I asked to speak to a supervisor and they did not let me. Directv did handle everything quickly and professionally. They came out 45 minutes after I called them. I returned Charter equipment to their office and I am glad I am through with them. Don't fall for their free trial. There may be some taxes you may have to pay. Still waiting to hear from Charter. If you try Charter and like them, good. If you don't like them, It will be quite a hassle to return the equipment (no boxes for equipment) and get your other provider to put everything back to normal. 5 stars for the installers. 1 star for the company. I called for Internet service ONLY. I was clear when speaking to the rep Internet only. The installer had the order for TV AND INTERNET. I had to call and fix it. Of course you have to speak with 2 different people to fix the problem and they still try to sell you stuff you don't want again, so you have to justify your choice again, which is disrespectful to my wishes. Avoid using their AUTO PAY system whatever you do! They deducted $190.81 from my account without warning or notification. $79.99 was from an old auto-pay they admit should have been cancelled but wasn't. Another $50 was for a service the installer said he performed but didn't and to which I had not signed for. I was told that since they took the money from my checking account that I would have to fax a copy of my bank statement showing it had cleared the bank before they could issue a refund. But they will gladly credit my Charter account. Meanwhile my account is in jeopardy of being overdrawn thanks to their negligence. read more

Charter spectrum is terrible the picture pixelates all the time you can't watch what you want you have to change the channel and watch something else until that pixelates terrible service they been out 4 times to fix the problem with no results. The Internet also goes out a lot and has no signal it's been a year since I've had the service and it never worked good it's a shame how this company takes your money and don't provide the service they advertise. Poor Customer Service! Employees are very unprofessional at the Whittier location. There were 4 employees at the counter (none on the phone) while only one helped the line of customers. They are not friendly or helpful & have an attitude. Also, when you call customer service, their answer to everything is they always want to send someone out. I don't have time to wait for someone or am going to pay a fee for them to come out because of their poor service. Their commuication of updates is poor with one letter only, while they'll call you every hour, every day when it comes to billing. read more

A salesman entered our gated community and told us about the great deals Charter was offering. We had Verizon Fios installed but our monthly bills were very high for the service we were getting. So we listened to the sales guy's pitch. It had some great incentives. We wanted to save some money on the monthly bill so we promptly cancelled Verizon and signed on to Charter. The first day was good. Service appeared solid. Then two weeks in our first DVR box went down. They quickly replaced the box. We even had a supervisor come by and asked us to review the tech's service. Little did we know that would be the last time a tech would actually come out. Soon our TV's started having issues. We would call Charter Communications and basically had to service our own problems with the customer care person on the other line giving instructions. (That is if the robot who answers all calls to Charter will let you get to a tech support person) Basically I am servicing my own problems because in order to get someone out we have to wait anywhere from 24 to 48 hours to have a service person actually come out. The agents you speak with appear friendly but basically know NOTHING. I solve my own tech issues. The lower cost means nothing if you don't get to use the services provided. Tonight we spent 3 hours with no PHONE, no NET, no TV and no WI-FI. It was a long night. They promised a call back when service came up and they never called back. My advice? Choose another provider in the area and save yourself the headache. The reduction in price is not worth it when you get no service. read more

Awful! We originally signed up just for internet (mainly because it's only 1 of 2 companies in our area). We did have a great deal but then they talked us in to trying the cable. We were assured there is nothing to loose since they have no contract. Well, the platform is so bad. We rarely watch tv and it still bothered us. They didn't give us a DVR (which they promised) and you cannot search for a show. You have to know when it is on to find it. It doesn't compare with any cable that we have had and is very out of date. So, we cancelled the cable portion and our internet went up from the original price. They did not tell us that we could never get the price again. So, after many phone calls, we were told that it's just cheaper to add the cable back and were assured hat they upgraded the system. Well, the tech came out today and told me that nothing is new. Same old crummy system and the sales guy lied to get his commission. I could go on but you get the point. I wish there were more options in my area because I'm sure we will just cancel this soon as well. Unfortunately we have no choice for the internet so I'll deal with it until we move out of this location and can choose a better provider. read more

Bad customer service. One other customer was there when I went into the office and three desk workers. Two desk workers were sitting there doing absolutely nothing, while I waited in line. After about 5 minutes I let them know I had a dog in the car and only needed to drop off a modem. I was parked in the shade with the windows down but I was still worried. I went to Charter for TV because I'm on a limited budget and Dish kept raising their rates. Also, I had their internet & phone, which I have had very few problems with and the internet has been good. I have to say I HATE their TV service! Ugly interface, limited information on programs, I've had my box replaced 3 times because of pixilation, frozen screens, you name it. The one I currently have is bad, too. I have to put the sound way up just to hear it, and my TV buzzes in the background. Also, you can see color bars floating up the screen. I am going to change to another carrier - just not sure who yet. Oh, and they recently raised my rates, too. At least with Dish, I got better quality TV! read more

I had Charter for about 4 years, I had the full service package including cable, phone, and internet. In the first year, the internet service was reliable with not many issues, I was able to stream live video, download pages, etc. Charter then changed their internet and required me to buy a modem for $50 and it would be month to month with no contract. I switched because I had no choice. A tech came out switched out the modem, router and the problems started from day one. The internet would interrupt, daily, it took forever to download a file, and the buffering for video play was horrible. I could say I've had about 4 techs come out and they would replace the router, since them I had to rent the modem from them, because the one I bought from them, wouldn't work anymore (according to Charter). Replacing the router, modem, and whatever else they did wouldn't correct the problem. I finally got fed up and cancelled my service and signed up with ATT. My gosh what a different, I could download, stream video, the speed is awesome. Cant believe I waited this long to switch over. I you require reliable internet. DONT bother with Charter, the service is horrible. Save your time and money. read more

I have Charter Communications - who farm out their hookup services to random companies: I moved into my apartment about 2 years ago and Charter had the monopoly in this 5 unit building. It took about a months and 4 service tech to come out before I said I had enough. I had to say that I would sue the company for screwing with me before I got any cooperation. The techs would come out and new that they would have to install a new cable on the second floor unit I have. I was told that Charter would have to send out an architect for some made up reason to not have to go on the roof and install new cable. I was told by the last tech that came out that it would take four hours to install the lines in my unit; and he did not have the time because of other service calls. I had to threaten a lawsuit before he would install new cables; this had to be done due to the extensive SPLICING on the current line. It cost me an additional $80 to my monthly service charge for the following month. My service has been really slow, I had my computer service and an upgrade it was not expensive and not the reason my computer was running slow. My internet crashed again due to splicing on my new cable line. The tech that came out disconnected the other tenants cable from my cable line, the other tenant also pay Charter Communication for rip off services. Learn this word SPLICING if you live in an apartment. Get the company name that has been farmed out to do your service and before the tech leaves have them sign the service receipt stating that you have an original cable and there is no splicing; then have the tech show you their work. There are green or red tags that are attached to your cable line' you should only have one tag. Also, there are no direct phone lines to Charter Communication so you have to have a supervisor do an email to the field supervisor bigger mess than space to type. Charter Communication is a rip off: CFR - Splicing is illegal, especially for Charter techs that do it. You pay for a cable line than you should get a cable line. Looking for anyone to do a class action lawsuit..... read more

Charter Cable is so expensive. The picture was horrible. With my internet it was running $172. a month. I have 4 TV's and the boxes they charge for everyone. The internet is $59.99 a month so that means I was paying almost $115 for crappy cable. The picture would always freeze and go out. One month I had them out 4 times to fix the picture. They were always nice about it, but still come on. I got DirectTV for $74.62 with 4 boxes. They were in and out in about 2 hours. The installer was wonderful and knowledgeable Like they say "Get rid of cable and get DirectTV!". The funny part is when I returned all my boxes. The guy (KUA) at the counter at my Charter office was rude. I brought back the boxes in a DirectTV box. I waited at the counter while the guy was on the computer doing something and would not acknowledge me until he was done. then he looked at me and said "take them out of the box". Really, that's how your going to talk to me? He was rude the whole way through. Kua, get a job in another dept, this one isn't working for you buddy. read more

So here is how these f*****s work. On 9/16/15 I had a "technician" come to my house and install a box. Since I had dogs I told him to wait a minute while I put my dogs into the garage so that he could do his work, When he was finished (knowing that I had dogs) he left my gate open and left. Seeing that he left and not knowing that he had left the gate open I let my dogs out of the garage. He claims that he yelled into my house that my gate was open and to shut it but I never heard him. Nor do I know why since he walked out of the gate why he didn't close it himself. Later that day when I went to feed my dogs I noticed that one of them had gotten loose. Later that day we found that the dog had been picked up by the Animal Control and was in the animal shelter. Upon contacting Charter we were informed that we had to make damage claim. Within an hour or so we were contacted back by the Claim Agent (named Fernando, no last name) and told that our claim was denied since the Agent had spoken to the installer and the installer claimed that when he left the backyard that he yelled into the house for me to secure the gate. The Agent told my wife over the phone that if she was not happy with the outcome that he could have the installer come over and confront me about the situation. Not seeing a point in this I let it go. Three weeks later my wife called me saying that I needed to contact the Agent concerning this matter because the case could not be closed until I did so. I contacted the Agent and he was adamant (as he was with my wife) that the claim was denied due to the statement from the installer. When asked by me then why did he have me call him he really had no answer. In fact all he could say was that the claim was denied. So I decided to call the main customer support to file a complaint on the Agent and the installer. After a run around and a lot of phony sympathy it was still deemed to be me that was at fault that the installer left the gate open. I was even told that it was my fault because I had not checked to see if the gate was left open. Which I had actually started out to do was sidetracked because I had stopped to pick up the mess that was made by the installer who had left tools and chairs scattered all about the patio area. This is a company that refuses to take responsibility for the work done by those hired or contracted out to. Now it wasn't a large amount on money to retrieve my dog and all I really wanted was for Charter to take responsibility for the inadequacy of their workers service. But I guess it is against company policy to take responsibility for anything that might lead to their having to shell out any kind of compensation. So be aware of this if you decide to do business with them. Myself personally, Ill rip their box out myself and deliver it to their nearest office. I've been with Charter for exactly 1 month - all I can say is, Charter's service is incredibly schizo! If their internet reliability could only be as good as their customer service! EV-ERY day since I've had Charter, the internet cuts out at least twice, but sometimes up to 4 times each day. Their customer service though is top-notch - quick to assist in getting me back online, and even sending out a technician once or twice, at no charge & with convenient scheduling. But how does that help me if I can't rely on the service I'm paying for, even though it is cheaper than AT&T? I want to like Charter, but I feel like I'm spending more time on the phone with them than using their service! They have one last chance before they lose me back to AT&T (yes, I did switch from AT&T to Charter, thinking I'd save some money.....but at this point, I'd rather pay the extra.) read more

Their customer service reps are terrible, he flat out told me "no skin off my back" when I advised him I needed to carry service over to my new address. So naturally I cancel my service because I will pay good money for good service but refuse to give anymore to such a shitty company with even worse representatives. Upon cancelling my service I see I am scheduled for an autopay of DOUBLE the amount I typically pay. When contacting their terrible CSR again I was advised "because of the merger not everything is set up ye" IS THE MERGE IS NOT COMPLETE WHY PUT LINKS TO SPECTRUM ON EVERYTHING WHEN SPECTRUM CAN'T DO ANYTHING! The idiocy from this company is more frustrating than anything. Not to mention, the internet is constantly "unable to connect" due to whatever else nonsense they have going on there.
