I was a customer at First Republic Bank with multiple accounts and the transition to Chase when they were bought out was messy. I had questions about my accounts and the process on certain things, but after speaking to 2 tellers and 2 other bankers, no one could answer any of my questions. Of course, their supervisor isn't in, as they never are. I'm handed a card. and they take my info down to give to them. I call multiple times over the course of a few weeks and leave voicemails, which none are answered. I also never receive any calls from their supervisor, or even anyone from Chase. After 2 more walk in attempts, it's the same result of no one knowing how things are done, and I need to talk to a supervisor. read more

Unfortunately their customer service team is not helpful and does not follow through. I had 2 separate fraud incidents with different accounts. Each time people in the branch said they would follow up. Each time they did not. The customer service via the phone is even worse. read more

I want to commend Vice President/Private Client Banker, Edward Weller who works at the Mountain View Office of Chase Bank for his outstanding service today. I received an Insurance Check payable to Myself and a Servicing Company that my Loan had been sold to by Chase. I have been receiving the run around by the Servicing Company and my Insurance Company for the last week on proper negotiation. I stopped in the Chase Office to discuss how to negotiate this check. Needless to say I was not a happy camper at all. The Manager came over. She was really nice and introduced me to Edward. He escorted me an Office and spent an hour calling Chase mortgage and then the Servicing Department. This rating is for Ms. Anju Paul of the Chase Bank at El Camino and Castro Street in Mt. View, CA. Ms. Paul assisted us with a banking matter nearly 8 years ago and from that single experience, I have always remembered her. I infrequently go into the bank however when I do, I search for her, just to say hi and to see how she is doing. She's always so happy, so very kind and so helpful. Yesterday I went in with a banking matter and as always, she was so very, very helpful. She's always going the extra mile and beyond her reach. She's a solutions oriented professional. Her tenure in the same location is a testament to the management of this particular branch. I sometime go into the branches of their competitors and there is never anyone around to assist nor many with longevity to which you can form a relationship. This place has gone downhill since Chase took over. I just looked at my previous 5-star review of when this place used to be WaMu. Everything I liked about WaMu is now gone. They redid some of their interior. I loved the old interior. Their ATMs have a blue glow at night. Their bank slips are different and a bit confusing. There was longer wait lines when I was there. Being fed up with Chase, I decided to close my accounts. I moved to a credit union. When closing my accounts, the best the Chase banker could offer me to stay was free wire transfers! If I search JP Morgan on Yelp, it sends me to Chase Bank. You might think they are connected, but no. Not when it comes to customers' needs. I am the conservator of a friend with dementia. It took me ten months to go through the legal process to gain conservatorship to keep my friend from getting farmed out to a room & board somewhere in the Cetral Valley by the public system. Chase has no knowledge of the accounts, the transactions, or the decisions that happen at JP Morgan. If you go to a retail Chase bank, if you are lucky they will put you on the phone with the JP Morgan people, but they can't help you past that. I needed to liquidate my friend's mutual fund at JP Morgan, but JP Morgan wouldn't let me since they insisted on me getting a form that they couldn't give me a number for. I had no idea what they were talking about, and I couldn't talk with anyone on their legal team because their lawyers are off limits to customers. How convenient. I finally hire a laywer who talks with them and explains to me what I need to do because JP Morgan can't be bothered to deal with regular people who don't have lawyers. So, I have the money from the mutual fund transferred to a separate checking account at Chase where my friend already has a checking account. However, they won't let access those funds because they claim I don't have enough statutory power. As a result of my transfer, Chase freezes the accounts. I need badly the money to pay for the memory-care home. Chase insists on a "court order", whatever that is, no one knows. It doesn't exist in California. My lawyer writes a threatening letter, and they cooperate. The maddening thing is that the legal team at the bank is completely impersonal. Even though they are ruining your life, you don't know any names and cannot have any contact with them. You are powerless! This is the state of this country, regular people are stomped into the ground by corporations. What would I do if I couldn't afford a lawyer or didn't get one good enough to help me? This Chase/JP Morgan team or lack-of-team when it suits them is manipulative and dehumanizing. read more

Just nor very customer Sevices oriented. Go in there it can be one person taking 29 min and other tellers ( who know where they are hidin) don't show up until there is a big line. Was in there when a clearly hostile and potentially violent person strolled in, left me stand with this nut in line for 8 min- no help the person tried to cut infront of me- no help from the staff- i got out of there they ended up Calling the cops- my Problem is - its their bank they are always saying hi a when I come in the door an try to get me to just deposit with no receipt. It all started when we tried to deposit a check into a business account - I have my ID and show proof of being part of the account - mom has an account for savings in the business account ... we have a check under her name, endorsed by her - tried to deposit the check and teller tells us we can't - then someone who we think is a manager? (Elizabeth) tells us we can't deposit a check - even though I have an account number, I am an approved transaction person in the account - Elizabeth says we can't deposit check because the check is not made out to the business ...... 2 days later we see that a check under moms name was deposited into the account , deposited by my brother who is also an account authorized user ....what gives!? Why were we told we couldnt do this and now we see the exact same transaction was allowed? we go back to the bank with brother and this time another teller processed the transaction with no issues ... please provide better training for Elizabeth and other tellers so that time is not wasted for customers - specially during covid times, we should not be taking unnecessary trips. Elizabeth needs alot of help with being a manager, more proper training, because she had no clue what she was doing! read more

There is plenty of parking here, as they have their own little lot and also share a lot with the Peet's Coffee next door. Had an appointment with them which I booked online the day before. Went in to find they were closed and told me they cannot honor the appointment I scheduled. They said they have some water issue they were trying to fix since earlier. However, they did not make any effort to notify me through text or email and did not cancel the appointment beforehand. This is by far the better branch of the two in Mountain View, which are both on the El Camino. Unlike the other one, so far the employees at this one have been friendly and helpful. My few times going into the branch the line was short and moved along quickly. The tellers actually know what they are doing and everything goes smoothly. Although Chase has absolutely zero redeeming qualities when it comes to interest rates, at least this branch is convenient and helpful. read more

It was lunch time when I came in the bank to have a document notarized. Michelle Lee offered to help me as the person who normally does that was out to lunch. She also helped me set up a business bank account which took a bit of time since it's an LLC account. She was thorough, friendly and professional. After all that I realized it was her day off and that she could have easily handed me off to someone else or make me come back. I'm impressed with Michelle and with Chase. I regularly get excellent customer service at Chase. They must be good to their employees because their employees are regularly good to customers. read more

Chase sent me a long letter about one of its products. There are three main problems with his conduct: (1) The letter is 5 pages long (too long). 1 page would be acceptable. (2) The letter is a pain to read; for instance, it uses smaller than 12 point font. (3) The letter came as a paper letter, rather than an email. Relatedly, Chase's secure email system is kludgy. My bank for something like 10 years. Fantastic. Well, maybe not fantastic, but they screw you over much less than BofA or Wells Fargo. I'd love to give 5 stars, but.... subtract 1/3 of a star because the building is on an odd diagonal bias to the street. This doesn't sound like much but I find it very disorienting. subtract 1/3 of a star because the parking lot is suspiciously large. Are they planning a swap meet or something? subtract 1/3 of a star because it's pretty close to a busy bus stop and those people creep my shit out. There is never a line when I come here, but I come here in the middle of the day or afternoon so maybe that's why I always miss it. It does get a little busier on Fridays though... I've never had a bad experience here. I'm usually in and out with no complaints. I do most of my banking needs online. When I do come here, teller or not, everyone seems to be glad to help me and my questions are always answered. I like the convenience of having to park wherever I want, as there is always plenty of room in the parking lot. The bank is clean, bright, and big inside. My parents have also been here to apply for a loan and the gentleman who helped them out seemed knowledgeable and and friendly. He was patient and took his time to explain everything. I've been with Bank of America and Wells Fargo before, but have been with Wamu for a year now. Washington Mutual has the best services by far! read more

I stopped into the Mountain View branch on El Camino mid-day on Saturday to open an additional account. There was a waiting list and 3 people ahead of me. As I signed in on the list on the clipboard, one person waiting was taken by a banker to be served. After waiting 20 minutes or so someone approached me to say that the banker asked him to tell us that he was busy with other clients and we'd be seen in 3 - 5 minutes. Forty minutes later, still no service. Finally I grabbed someone that was walking by and expressed my dismay in being told to wait 3 -5 minutes and then continuing to wait. He found a banker and came back to say it would be another 15-20 minutes since he and others were tending to those that had appointments. If I had known up front that it would have taken over an hour to see someone and had been given the opportunity to make an appointment, I would have scheduled a time and gone on my way rather than killing an hour on a Saturday in a bank lobby. Customer service is poor at this location. I suggest they change how they deal with walk-ins. If you need anything there beyond teller service call ahead and make an appointment. read more

I was feeling a little off before, but I feel much better about this particular Chase now. I noticed a $25 charge on my account this morning with a note stating that because I didn't have an average daily balance of $15,000, I could be charged this $25 monthly. Considering I've had my account for years, I was a little baffled. I admit to going in a little pissed and telling the personal banker that I wanted to speak to someone about a $25 charge in a bit of a gruff manner. He found the source of the problem, reversed the charge, made a deposit for me, and had me on my way in less than 10 minutes on a busy Friday afternoon, all with a very friendly attitude and a smile. He also assured me that any time I had a problem to come to the bank because they wanted to make sure I was taken care of. It's instances like these that remind me why I like and/or do business with certain vendors. Thanks for fixing my account. read more

I hate this location. Whatever the problem they are unwilling to help or be friendly about it at the very least. They give you a hard time for being there and nobody that works there seems happy with their job. Stay away from this chase unless you just want to use the ATM. Terrible associates and management is a joke. Hire more people for customers needing bankers, and maybe teach your associates that it's not always about "rules." I love how this is a classic, "older" looking bank. Very large and open. I am not fond of the newer WaMu style of having the tellers at islands in the middle of the facility, so I appreciate the way this branch is set up. The tellers here are friendly, but not exceptionally so. They seem bored with their jobs, and while they are never rude, it would be nice to have a bit more personality. read more

Wow, I am really surprised by the ratings. Lol. But I do think that my needs may be different from others. My goals are just to deposit checks, get cash, and occasionally write a money order or transfer money to my non-Chase accounts. I have been a customer here for a long time, about 4 years, so I have watched this place change from a WaMu to a chase. On the plus side 1. Most of the employees were retained 2. ATMs have improved significantly What i like the best about this bank are the people that work here. Here is one guy in particular (I am not sure, since I never really looked at his tag, if he is a manager, but he has been there many years) and he is always helpful. I have never really had a bad experience that can be attributed to any of the tellers. I especially like that they never try to sell me anything and always have rolls of quarters (lol for my laundry), that I ask for. My only complaint is that the lines are long particular on Fridays and Saturdays. read more

Chase is a good bank. Not a great one, but not that bad too. This branch though is just OK. It sometimes has long lines while the other staffs are just talking. Professional isn't it? Terrible customer service. I was able to withdraw money using a non-US identity card last month. I came back this month to withdraw the money using another (better) non-US identity card, but was told ALL non-US identity cards would not be accepted. I forgot my debit card, and left my passport and US identity card for safekeeping at home. Despite I had my Chase credit card and showed them that I was able to log into my Chase online account, they didn't let me withdraw the money. Instead, one of them became suspicious to me and started checking my transaction history in front of me after I downloaded the Chase app (although I have told them multiple times that I was able to withdraw money using a non-US identity card before). I understand importance of account security for customers, but there are many ways to get around this, right? It is not a good sign if you allowed a customer to withdraw money using a non-US identity card before, but said it was impossible on another visit. This meant account insecurity. And why the suspicious attitude? Will not visit this branch again. read more

This place is horrible ! I came here waited 15/20 minutes for a personal banker. They forget about me and had only 1 banker available. When I told them this they said they "don't care." And I had to wait in line. They have hidden minimum balances fees that they don't tell you about, got charged on my checking.
