Review for teller service only (I like to commend good customer service, because I know how hard that job can be!). I don't have an account with Chase, but I do have to go there fairly regularly. The tellers here are super nice, helpful, and prompt. Lines on Saturdays, when it's open 9 am - 4 pm, are not bad in my experience. Some of the guy tellers are kinda cute too. I won't complain about that! I just find the blue lighting outside at night kind of hilarious though, because it sort of looks like it wants to be a dance club , not a bank. :) Apparently this affliction is not limited to the bars in MV. read more

Got my foreign currency here the other day... Available for no additional fee, in two business days. While I'm really not the biggest fan of Chase in general, this is easily the best branch I've found in the area. They're always super friendly when I come in, and quick to resolve issues. This is a big WAMU, good size parking lots near the ATM and entrance but there is always a line inside. They do have plenty of tellers 3-5 but it is still a busy place. The ATM's are not covered, so when it rains, it is a bummer. read more

Came in early Saturday morning to cash out some coins. Yey for $40 worth. Easy transaction and no line at 9:45a! Came in today for deposit a few checks. I like the new deposit slips. This has nothing to do with the employees this is not their fault but CHASE THEMSELVES if it affects this branch then so be it. I went INTO THE BRANCH to use the atm machine and took out my rent money and 20 five dollar bills for work.... AFTER 30 seconds the door closed and my receipt says there were technical difficulties and your transaction was not completely successful. Guess what after an hour with 2 managers on the phone they " OPENED A CLAIM " AND I HAVE TO WAIT 2-5 BIZ DAYS FOR MY OWN MONEY. Its sat morning now and I see they sure have taken the money out of my account but nothing credited my friend said the same thing happed at " BOFA " but they credit it immediately THEN they try to figure out what THEY DID WRONG NOT ME. I'm writing this at 745 am looking at 1.85 in my account and no access to funds. DO NOT USE THE ATM INSIDE THE BRANCH. There are two branches closer to my work, but I like this one the best because it is relatively easy to get to and the parking is great. I have been going to this branch since 2001 and am very happy with it. The employees are very considerate and genuinely seem to care about the customers. They take the time to get to know their regulars by name and welcome me to the store whenever I go in. The services are the same at all the branches, but because of the people presenting them, this is my favorite one. read more

Alex Gast and Yvonne were both excellent. I'd tried the Palo Alto branch multiple times with no success (one agent available for only 20 minutes out of a 1-hr appointment, zero responses to emails and voicemails). I walked in to the Mountain View branch just before closing after a quick phone call picked up by Yvonne. Yvonne directed me to Alex on arrival. Alex then stayed overtime to help me open a business banking account same-day. He answered all my questions and more. Alex never pressured me for time, was thorough in his responses, yet efficient in saving both of us time. There were a few items he offered to follow up on after my visit so that I could leave sooner. As promised, he then called me the next morning to report on all resolutions. My experience with this branch was... stellar! We needed a medallion signature, and timing was critical. It was a Saturday. Not a good time to need specialized service from a bank! Our closest branch was not responsive - our calls went to voicemail. My husband called the Mountain View branch closest to us. The call was answered immediately, and we were told that we could make an appointment with Jesus, who could help us with the signature authorization. I am sorry that I do not have his complete name - I thought I'd kept his card, but cannot find it. When we arrived at the branch, it was busy! Jesus was the only agent who could help us, and he was tied up with another client. However, he was told we were waiting, and made a point of acknowledging us. When we met with him, he looked over the paperwork we had, and consulted with the legal experts at Chase to determine what was needed. He made sense of a complex situation, and advised us regarding the required signatures. We ended up needing to go to another branch to finish this. He called ahead and made sure that the appropriate person would be available to us. We were able to get the required signature guarantees, and complete the paperwork on a Saturday, thanks to Jesus having the knowledge to understand the issues, get the information he needed to advise us, and make arrangements for an agent at another branch complete the process. This review is a little late in coming. This took place about 9 months ago. I owe Jesus a huge thanks for helping us, on a Saturday, when we are not 'regulars' at his branch, when they were super busy, and our situation was complex. Went there Sat to make a transfer & Sarah waited on us. where to start; No smile, no greeting even threw the receipt at us. then we cashed a check never asked how we would like our Money. We even asked if we offended her? What the heck? Not my branch if it was we would close all my accounts. Chase allowed somebody else to withdraw funds from my account. Chase employees allowed my former brother-in-law to withdraw money from a custodial account I set up over a decade ago for my nephew. Not electronically, not via a debit card, but in person from a human teller. He is not listed on the account, has a different name and should not have been granted access. Stay away from Chase Bank! They use shady business practices that randomly discriminate against certain customers. Search online and see. I would never have believed it. I did have a fine relationship with a credit card for 19 years, but then suddenly they decided they didn't believe I was a U.S. citizen. Honestly, they must have known this was not an issue. They have all these data bases they can consult and they know who their customers are. As for why, I can only speculate that this is an overreaction or a move to placate government regulators who have accused Chase of helping money launderers. In this case, they had plenty of info to know that was not an issue with me. They demanded I give them authorization for a THIRD PARTY OUTSIDE COMPANY to verify my citizenship and identity. This is a huge danger in opening me up to i.d. theft. They were very disingenuous about this. They asked also for a W-9 form which is meant for situation where they would be paying out interest. My account was not interest bearing. I had both a checking account and a credit card. So keep in mind, there are lots of other places to bank. Good luck if you go to Chase. There's just no reason to mess with them. They are hugely bureaucratic more than the other monster banks. Use one of the others, or use a smaller bank or credit union. You may save yourself some grief and annoyance. Forewarned is forearmed. I'm not saying this is other than my experience, but it was a very distasteful one. read more

WaMu is now owned by Chase. The worst banking experiences of my life have been with Chase. I've already experienced NSF fees due to an "improper endorsement", which was the same as I've always done at this branch, and every time I go in someone is yelling (literally) at a teller because of unexpected fees, bounced checks, etc. Chase tellers are trained in aggressive sales tactics, and are required to constantly push new products on customers (this isn't idle speculation; an ex-girlfriend of mine was a teller at Chase). It simply isn't an acceptable banking experience for me. I'm looking for a new bank for both my business and personal accounts. read more

Chase put a voucher in to my mail box saying I could have up to $500 if I open an account, and transfer my money there etc. So I went to this branch this morning. I am Asian, and my full name appears in passport as SURNAME GIVEN-NAME. This is a typical naming custom in many countries like China, Japan etc. However, when I notified the banker, it seemed to be a totally new concept to him. He called somebody to ask if it is OK to put my "last name before first name as in the passport". He then told me I couldn't open a bank account at Chase because of my name. I was so shocked. I already had a Citibank account, and I have lived in Italy and the UK before. I opened bank accounts several times, and I never have problem with my naming order before. I tried to explain to the banker, he said although he understood what I had said because he was from NEPAL, but he could not let me open account there. I tried to show him my US Visa which showed my surname and given name. But the banker said it didn't matter because I used my passport as my primary ID.But Chase was very strict, and I needed to find other banks to open accounts. The way he talked to me and what he said made me feel like Chase is very arrogant. It's fine, I already have an account with Citibank, I can live without Chase. No big deal. read more

Chase Banks in General are a plague on San Francisco. I've had 2 dealings with Chase on with a Chase Credit Card and one with a Chase Auto loan and both were the most miserable financial situations I've ever dealt with. The credit card company renewed my card automatically but didn't send me a bill, then they posted to my credit score that I was late pay even though I still hadn't gotten a bill, when my identity security company notified me that my credit score had been accessed I looked it up and called Chase. They charged me $39 for the card, late fees and finance charges and affected my credit score. When I paid the balance by check over the phone and closed the card I realized I still had miles left on the card and called up to claim them. They informed me I had $400 in miles but that by closing the account I forfeited the miles. The 2nd issue I have with Chase Finance; I had a 2008 car that was totaled in an accident and the insurance company settled with me and said they'd handle paying off the loan. I got a call from Chase who said they had been notified by the insurance company and if the check wasn't received in 8 days they were going to put a slow pay on my credit report. I explained that the Insurance company was handling it and they said (rudely) you're responsible and you deal with them. The check arrived that afternoon and I swore never to deal with Chase Bank or Chase Financial or have a Chase Credit card again. I even hate their commercials. read more

Love the service here. They have lots of experienced and knowledgeable private client bankers and business bankers here. I use this as my regular branch since I move to the neighborhood. This branch is busy and their bankers go by appointments majority of the time. I can see lots of people walk in and expect to see bankers take care of them which is almost not possible at this location. Their bankers' schedule are mostly book a few weeks ahead of time. For people who call in one day and wanna see a banker next day, I think they can go to smaller branch to try their luck. I also see some new faces here recently. I tried one of them when my private banker Michelle was out of office. I will not even recommend that new face. He has strong accent and he does not know what he is doing. I ended up email my banker Michelle and she responded me early in the morning when she was back. I will also recommend Anju at this location. She is also very knowledgeable. Both of them are top private client bakers and business specialist. They are patient and they will get things done. read more

I do not have an issue with this branch in paticular. My issue is with Chase as a whole corporation. I am having a hardship and they are not willing to help. I became unemployed back in November 2008. I immediatly called the parent company in Palatine, IL to lower my interest rate to lower my payment so I could afford to pay them. They wouldn't do it. I was late on my next payment by 3 days and so they raised my interest rate. Now that didn't seem real smart, but it happened. I called to work with them again to at least lower the rate back to what it was. They wouldn't do it. Here it is 6mo later. I've been on time with complete payments. Everyone is happy. I fell short of my complete payment for July, called them to tell them that I was making a partial payment and the balance would be sent in 1wk when I receive my EDD check. They could care less. I will still be charged the late fee. Again, that just doesn't make sense. If I can't pay the darn bill, why charge me more money? I was transferred over to another agent to discuss a payment plan. Makes logical business sense - right? Get this...it's really good...I hope you're sitting down. Because my expenses are higher than my EDD income...they can't help me!!! I'm thinking that I misunderstood him. So I repeated what he said and he said "yes, that is true". If you have a choice to use any other bank, you better do it. Chase must think that we're in a strong economy. I'd like to see where the hell the owners of this fine institution live so I can camp out on their lawn. I'm sure it will be better than the local park I need to scope out once my EDD runs out. Who knows, the cook might put a plate out on the back porch for me. haha read more

If you just wanna deposit money into your accounts or use the ATM's then this branch is fine. Tellers are A-OK. But if you have some sort of other business with these guys take your money and run. They have a bad habit of nagging you with unstoppable phone calls. If I want info I will contact you not the other way around. I am a hairs edge away from removing ALL of my money from Chase altogether. Leave me alone. read more

I joined because of Wa Mu and to have an account at a bank as well as a credit union (of which I am a firm believer). This is branch has friendly enough automatons. I am closing my account though because trying to use their phone banking is too difficult and shocking. Shocking - well shocking because the calls go out of the country to the Phillipines and somewhere else ? Overseas banking! it is not covered by US law. Not to mention possilbe identity theft. Also didn't we just bail these banks out with our tax money and now they are off-shoring US jobs. read more

Washington Mutual sucks. This is about the 10th issue that this bank has caused that's cost me money...and they refuse to take responsibility for it. Their loan division is seriously challenged, so they're taking money where they can from their customers. This time this is how they got my money. I re-ordered checks two days express and paid the $14 express fee. My checks arrived, but they had only my name, not my husbands, as it was in previous orders, and the wrong style. Something I'd never ordered before and very funky. I called them and they told me I'd have to wait 7 - 10 busineness days for the new checks, but they'd reverse the express fees. Well, my new checks arrived 7 days later...and I was charged the express fee! I called the bank and they actually said that since I did eventually get my checks, the express fee would stand. It was not a bank error, therefore I had to pay that fee?!!!! Granted it's not a lot, but all of the little fees that they've been charging lately in error, and not taking responsibility for are adding up. I've been with them for 10 years, but I'm now taking my accounts and going somewhere else. And their attitude and customer service are getting worse and worse. I'm getting off this sinking ship before they find new ways to take more money. read more

I have been with Wamu for several years. I was a little painful with its transition to Chase, but I am very impressed with this branch's help. I was troubled with a machine-put long period of "hold" status for a large deposit which I need to draw a cashier's check. Another local branch manager tried but could not help me. As a last step, I went to this branch. The staff went through necessary security steps quickly and verified my fund's availability. The manager reviewed my case promptly and released the 'hold" status for me. This is the best banking experience I have had so far. read more

We only have a credit card with Chase but need a medallion signature guarantee. Got an appointment same afternoon I called and they made it happen, while being careful that we were who we said we are! The credit union had a limit on how much they could deal with, Chase saved the day. read more

I've been a loyal chase customer for a few years now. I switched to this bank because I had a bad experience with Wells Fargo. Today, the service at this particular location was absolutely terrible. My boss had sent for a paycard for me due to glitches in our system (I just recently started at my job) and today my boss told me to go transfer the money to my bank account and they should do it free of charge. My boss also told me any bank accepting visa should be able to do the transfer. My paycard has a visa logo as does my chase debit card. They should've been able to do the transfer, THE WHOLE TRANSFER, and not give me any bull shit about "we can't do the transfer because your paycard isn't a chase card". I had to deal with a teller, her supervisor and a personal banker on my lunch break. And I have to say the personal banker was so much nicer and didn't feed me any bull shit. The supervisor, I want to say her name is Yvonne? Is the one who said my card isn't a chase card, absolute bull shit my card has a visa logo you should've been able to do it. Now I'm taking extra time from work to figure it how to get the rest of my money into my bank account. Won't be back. By the way, my boss also had a bad experience here. read more

There's been so much Chase-trashing since the WaMu takeover, I wanted to offer a different experience. I had lots of trouble with some online transaction with Chase (I'd give them minus 2 stars) that I went to the branch in Mountain View. I worked with Liz Loi there and she was professional, persistent, and clearly in my corner. She worked with the online people for over an hour to get things straightened out, and wouldn't quit until she could bring up my account on line just the way I wanted it. I was greeted immediately and escorted to Ms. Loi's office and immediately relaxed as she started to work. I'd go back to her in a second for more banking help. read more

Boycott Chase!!!!!! Chase is a horrible bank! I was a customer with WAMU for several years and loved the service until they were bought out by Chase. Their customer service is worst than the DMV. Want to pay excessive fees for savings, checking, and any other service? Then Chase is the bank you're looking for. They'll give you a .2% savings rate, but turn around with your money and loan it to someone else at 20%. Need to talk to a telephone banker? Expect to speak to some call center in India, Philippines, or some other place where people speak limited English, and the only real phrase they know is "I can not help you." I'm not putting people down on their efforts to speak English as English is my second language as well, but when they don't seem to understand or are unwilling to understand what you want then I call that bad customer service! Do an internet search on "Chase sucks" and you'll find many angry customers. When I tried closing all my of my accounts the banker told me I would pay a $25 penalty fee on one of my accounts because the account was less than 90 days. That was on top of insufficient fund fees(at $33 a pop) they put on top of one of my accounts because of the way they manipulate when charges get posted to your account. Then she had the nerve to offer me a new debit card that only costs $25 each year, but I could accumulate 4 points for each transaction and get a gift card or some other crap. I told her what terrible customer service Chase has and that I would be telling all my family and friends to start closing their accounts with them. She didn't even seem phased by any of it, and called the next person. As soon as my 90 day wait is over I'm closing all my accounts and going to a local credit union.
