I've been a Mt View resident for 30 yrs and I've had to utilize this branch for banking including settling estates for my parents back in 2007-07. I recently lost my oldest sister this year and again they were helpful in resolving my sisters trust including accessing a bank deposit box that wasn't utilized since early 2000. Both Hansen Lee (MtView) and Sanjeev Kumar (SF) were so helpful in assisting this transition of trust and accessing a box to access contents. If you wanna save money, take it to the bank! The new location for Wells Fargo Bank is much more spacious than their old one which was just across the street. The staff here is at the top of their game. Super knowledgeable, friendly, remember your name, and help take care of your monies. I really wish they used some of the abundantly empty space to expand their vault for additional safe deposit boxes-- these are always hard to find and they had a chance here to better serve the community. This is for Hanson Lee, the banker who helped me sort out a beneficiary claim. The appointments were easy to secure with a notary, was able to get a time slot within a day of needing it. Minimal wait, the manager checked in on me to apologize for the wait despite it only being a few minutes. Hanson was kind during a difficult time, walked me through the steps of a beneficiary claim, and got everything in order within 30 minutes. Overall, would highly recommend. Seems like a well run place with customer-focused people. read more

The location has plenty of parking, but still not may not be enough when it gets busy like Saturday morning. They also offer coffee and water, and there is free notary service but you need to make an appointment. For currency exchange, you probably need to call in advance to order it especially for a large amount. read more

One of the worst banks ever. Absolutely crooked bank, they removed money from my deposit, and then said I had to prove to them that I had made the deposit. They have been investigated for fraudulently opening accounts for people and charging them already. The problem is they have little competition when it comes to large banks. They have minimums on all accounts that I have, and absolutely horrid charges and service -- at least at the branch I deal with which is mountain view, ca. Why the government doesn't to something about them, I have no idea. read more

I did not appreciate being advised by the staff with incorrect information. The wrong information was related to the COVID government assistance thru moneynetwork. Telling customers to reduce the transfer amount by some number of dollars to cover fees was not correct in my situation. Now I have moneynetwork cards with a tiny balance. read more

I normally deposit checks at the ATM, but on one occasion I forgot to endorse my check, and pens are inconveniently not provided at the ATM. So I went into the branch to talk to an actual (gasp) human, and I was immediately met by a friendly teller who took me to her desk and made sure I was comfy as she performed the arduous task of converting my paper fiduciary instrument into electrons. A manager even came by to make sure that I was being taken well care of. What service! There's a decent sized parking lot here (for customers only) with additional parking along Castro Street and Church Street. read more

this is the location that is closest to where i live, and i could even walk here, so it has become my go-to location for all my banking needs. the inside is pretty big and very well staffed, so even when it's busy (i.e. weekday lunchtime), i find that my wait time is relatively short. i've always gotten a staff member who is friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. there are several atm machines outside, so again, i never have to wait when i need to withdraw some quick cash or deposit some checks. parking area is a good size, considering it's in downtown MV. it can definitely get crowded during the weekdays, but if i can't find a spot here, there's almost always something on castro or one of the side streets. read more

I love that bank, no other come ever close to be so friendly, so willing to help and be fair with you. They offer to reduce my mortgage rate which already was good, just seeing my credIt score going up and without me asking. Then I need line of credit for my home improvement - they give me best deal. The accounting is so simple with web and mobile app. People are so friendly - I never miss opportunity to get cash from teller instead ATM. This is my own first hands experience, not based on the news or political preferences. When I called this branch, instead of saying my questions were out of their job category they helped me with a problem I was facing over the phone. Worst customer service ever. Banked with Wells Fargo for many years and finally got tired of their poor service and ridiculous charges. After several visits to this location and a million telephone calls, still no help from them. When visitng the branch, their answer to everything was, our system is down, we can't access your account, call customer service on the 800 number and when i call them it was you need to go into the bank!... I had several weird charges appear and my account was hacked into and these guys were absolutely no help. I detest Wells Fargo and their customer service stinks! read more

Never have I been SO HUMILIATED in my life! I came into this bank today because I had loose change from my jar that I keep with loose change. It was filled to the top so I decided to take some out and take it to the bank. I was helped right away by this blonde girl, soon as I explained to her my situation then she gave me a nasty look. She told me that they couldn't take my loose change but I could put it in these change binder/filter. She asked me if I needed rolls and I said no. So, I sat down and this man comes up asking me for help but I politely decline his offer. Then about ten to fifteen minutes filling this change looking filter/binder. I went back up to the line and this other lady helped me. She was like "Um..you need to roll them then come back." I felt this lady looked me like I was some kinda lame child trying to ruin their day. While I was filling the rollers, I noticed the woman that was helping and being kind to other customers and made conversation with everyone but me. After I rolled all the change, I was helped by Lizabeth and she was so sweet and patient with me. While Lizabeth was counting the main manager was laughing at all my change. So RUDE! I'm a customer for crying out loud, he was making me feel even worse. This regular customer came in and was wanting Lizabeth but she was helping me. He looked angry at me while Lizabeth was counting. And all the other tellers looked embarrassed about my situation. That made me feel an inch tall. Finally, I got my change from Lizabeth and quickly rushed out then broke into tears. Really appreciated that, NOT! I've been with Wells Fargo for ten years and this is how I'm treated. Well I'm NEVER COMING back to this branch. I can't believe I ran out the bank in tears. You get one star since there is no negative star. Congratulations, you just lost a customer. read more

I wish I could put 0 stars, they don't deserve any. They lied to us, pushed us so hard to open an equity line that we did not even need. They promised no fee to open the account or to close it, and we've been rushed to sign the agreement. Now we're trying to refinance our mortgage and we're stuck with this equity line that we never even used. They want to charge us $600 to close the account. The assistant account manager, Marc, is totally useless; he would only wave the fee if we refinance with them; problem is that Wells Fargo is always 0.2% above its competitors rates. To summarize worst customer experience ever, staff used pushy sales practice and lied to us. I'm closing all my accounts with them and next step is to file a complaint with BBB and State Attorney General. read more

Normally going to a place in person unlocks potential and creates opportunities that simply don't happen over the phone. In the case of Wells Fargo, the opposite was true. The wife got dinged with some sort of $50 charge for something we did not knowingly sign up for so we went down there to sort things out. Was intercepted at the door by a U. Nguyen who took us over to a desk. Was told that we could do some paperwork to shut down the account that generated the fees but that any credit to the account would have to wait for a manager or some other real person to deal with later in the week and that we should expect a call. I explained how that was not what I was hoping for and how I was tired of having to periodically burn a saturday afternoon coming down to the bank to defuck misc. charges and the like then then the mouthy little tart cops an attitude. "Did you just use the F-word?" she asked in an outraged and petulant voice. I paused, as my first reaction was withdraw everything and shut down every account. Yes, you stupid little bitch, I said that I was tired of having to come down to Wells Fargo to defuck bunk charges. When I am dealing with a bank, particularly a bank with which I have a long standing relationship with, when I have a problem what I want to hear is "Mr. J, we are absolutely 100% on it, chill here while I get this shit sorted for your presently." and exactly what I don't want to hear is some mouthy little bitch giving me a lecture on vocabulary and self expression, particularly a lecture on vocabulary and self expression in the context of I still don't have my $50 back. Now, in stark contrast to the several insults and disservice received at the 590 Castro branch in person, when I called the Wells Fargo support line I was shocked. Refunding the $50 was done immediately and without question or backtalk. It was delightfully easy, pain and hassle free. The people on the phone, unlike at the branch itself, were actually able to deliver a solution and above and beyond that were far more concerned with delivering a solution than giving me a lecture on how to talk. Fast, professional, effective and pleasant to deal with. Night and day. When it comes to Wells Fargo, forget 590 Castro, pick up the phone and the call center folks will sort it for you with a quickness and effectiveness that will leave your head spinning. Update: well, mysteriously the account that has generated surprise charges has not yet, despite two visits to the branch and two signings of papers, been successfully closed. More infuriatingly the promises of the seemingly stellar call center have turned out to be empty - still waiting on a refund. However, Wells Fargo was on top of things enough to send us notification that the account that we have twice closed is going to be saddled with higher fees. I am starting to understand how all the bunk mortgages happened. read more

Might be the worst bank experience I've had. First of all, every teller was open but I had to stand off to the side for 10 minutes to wait for an international banker in order to get Euros. He refused to give them to me because my account hadn't been used for a while. They said I needed my marriage certificate to prove I was who I said I was, even though my ID has my married last name. Should I mention I was married 3 years ago and have already shown my marriage cert to create the joint account in question? Should I also mention I'm 13 days away from giving birth? The staff was rude and unaccommodating. The only positive thing I can say is that their candy bowls were overflowing with lollipops so clearly the person in charge of that task is really on the ball. read more

If you need to do very simple, routine tasks, the staff is very charming and helpful. But when it comes to refi applications and finalizing the process, it is an unnecessarily drawn-out, draining, and deeply miserable experience. A month ago I received a conditional refi offer after sending and resending the same required documents (after finding out that the underwriters did not receive the complete set). But this refi has not been finalized because of one document that is considered incomplete or not the right one. However, after a few weeks of a dozen calls and emails, I have yet to find out EXACTLY what is wrong or incomplete about this single document. No one can explain this. All this constant "chasing" after multiple contact points/individuals is exhausting and annoying. I also found out that various depts. within the org do not communicate with each other, making this process significantly time-consuming and ineffective. Thus, after a few months since the refi application (for the second time in one year), it is NOT finalized. This is not the way to treat loyal customers, who opened accounts as a university student and have mortgage accounts and use their other services. read more

Although I've chosen to write about this location, what I'm about to say pertains to all the branches. In fact, I'm just talking about Wells Fargo Bank period. The customer service sucks big time. If you call up and ask a question, you'll find a charge posted to your account. They even charge for online bill pay when other banks have completely done away with that plus more. This is one of the only remaining banks I know that adds charges to every little thing you can think of. Thank god I've changed my account to a different bank -- only wish the rest of my family will follow suit. read more

This review is for all wells Fargo banks. I think honestly this bank shouldn't even b around. They charge the highest and most ridiculous fees on the planet. There's a fee for anything! Every time i go to a teller, they'll offer you to open a new account, or upgrade. If the new account gives me a better interest or benefits i won't mind doing it, but the benefits are so invisible that i always pass. If I'm in a hurry I'd rather do everything online, or at ATM just to avoid them wasting my time, but for some transactions, unfortunately i need to go inside and I get stuck... Anyway, I find customer service to b super fake and I know it's not the poor bank worker's fault, it's their stupid policies. They say hi 3,4 times, and they offer to help you but they really can't help because either they don't handle cash or whatever other reason, therefore you end up staying in the line anyway! read more

I've never had a problem with customer service at this bank and what's more is that I feel really safe when I'm using the ATMs (which I can't say for a lot of banks I've been to). Only minus one star because sometimes parking here can be a nightmare. People can be so rude! And the parking layout is just so annoying... accidents could happen quite easily here. Probably the worst bank I've ever been with and I've used banks all over the world. The service in here is unbelievably bad, with bank tells unable to calculate how much is in my bank account when asked couldn't add it up and told me 10k more than what I had in my account. Today I went to cash a Eur check, 3 people had to be involved as the teller had so many questions, in the end...he figured out that "oh yes this is a Eur check, not GBP.." can you imagine how offensive that is. It says Eur on the check! Later I discovered that had given me 1.20 usd on the Eur when the conversion rate with Bank of America and many other banks is 1.25 or above. I called the bank to speak with the "manager" he claimed he know's nothing about how the rate is set. I then asked if I could have my check back and he said no...I argued this out with him and he went to check probably with about 6 other people...and he said I could have it back but only if I came into the bank before 3pm as he couldn't hold it until the end of the day. This is for sure the worst bank I've ever been to, they continuously push more plans more cards etc on me every time I go in here, however they take over 500 usd of me to deposit a check...if you are a foreigner thinking of working with this bank please do not. read more

Poorly trained individuals work here. I was fooled by their "Premier Banker" titles. Case and point 1) First "Premier Banker" was suppose to get back to me on REOs as she didn't know anything. A week later I followed up and she had not gotten an answer. While I"m sitting there, she calls someone and then looks at me and says "Use Google". 2) Second "Premier Banker" talks to me about home equity and how it will take 3 days. I got a call from the Home Equity Dept and they were surprised that I was told that. She also failed to mention all the documentation that was needed. I sent "Premier Banker #2" an email, asking her to clarify. I did not hear back. From the Home Equity underwriter I did get the underwriter's Bosses name and phone #. I called the boss, he was out of town, but l was able to contact one of the people he mentioned in the voice mail. This person was surprised I did not get a follow up call. He said he would let the branch know. Magically a few hours later I get an email from "Premier Banker #2", saying Home Equity is working on it. She didn't address my question. Whoever is the manager for this branch is dropping the ball. And please don't call poorly trained individuals with limited knowledge of the services offered "Premier Banker". Note: People who think this bank is GREAT, don't go beyond using a checking account. Please don't give 5 stars for simply putting your money in and taking it out. That would be analogous to saying a car is great because the engine turns on. read more

I came in here a few weeks ago because I was being charged ridiculous fees for ridiculous things and I wanted to talk to someone about getting them taken off. I walked in and approached a man named Jadd, who claimed to be the assistant manager. He was nothing but useless and kept feeding me bullshi*. After realizing this guy was just taking me in circles, I got up and walked out because he was wasting my damn time. I got back in the parking lot but turned right around back towards the branch because I was even more mad that the bank was run by idiots and I wanted to talk to the idiot that called themself the manager. After getting back in, I was approached by a woman named Ashley. I told her I wanted to make a complaint to a manager so she walked me over to her desk and sat me down. I was hesitant to explain myself again because I expected her to be just as dumb as the first guy but she wasn't. She went through my account and the fees with me and explained why I was charged. She was able to only reverse one of them for me but I was very satisfied with that because she took the time to educate me on how their system works. So, in short, I walked out still being charged some fees and I would give Wells Fargo Bank as a whole only 2 stars. I give this location 5 stars because I was provided with excellent customer service by one of their bankers. read more

I am not sure how they are with personal accounts, but with my business account they were TERRIBLE!!! They had approved me for an account, I started to doing transactions. Then I had noticed that money was not getting deposited into my account. They deemed my business a potential risk therefore they froze all my money, around 2 grand. I told them it is fine if they thought my business was a risk, but why could they not have researched that before I started doing transactions with them. After 3 days, of leaving messages tracking people down I talking to people who go do nothing but refer you to someone else who knows nothing. I figured out what they had an issue you with, spoke to them, and they released my funds. They put me through hell! Do no use the Merchant services there, they will sell you on it, but once you sign up you are at there mercy as they have your money! read more

The last time I went there the banker George Nelson was impressively efficient and helpful. He solved every issue I had and made me avoid many other problems I would have in the future without his explanations. Writing a review for Wells Fargo can be equated with writing a food review for McDonalds. However, I'm so peeved that I have to vent. Traveling to Europe in a few days and am looking for the Euro currency to purchase. We have had a mortgage account with Wells Fargo for many, many years. I called just to make sure that I could come into the downtown M.V. branch because I had heard they had the money available there. Bottom line is unless you have some sort of regular acct with them, they will not accomodate you. The woman on the line said I would have to open up a PMA account - some sort of primary acct with them - otherwise they could not do it. This was after placing me on hold for several minutes. Okay, so if I understand this correctly, if I want to buy money with money, that is not good enough! Unbelievable attitude and ridiculous policy. read more

I came in wanting to take out a student loan and the woman there told me that she couldn't do it and continued to shoo me away and was obvious that she did not want to help me out. I've only ever been to this location for their ATMs, but it's very convenient to have my bank right next to downtown! I'm giving an overall 5 star review with specific emphasis on 4 particular representatives (Lupita, Hanna, Linda, and David). I did have a somewhat crazy experience trying to order my ATM card. But the third time was a charm thanks to these bankers. They always remember who I am and ever since my experience they go out of their way always to make sure that I'm happy. Any business can be hard to manage and I think that people need to be a little bit more understanding that everyone is doing the best they can. We're all human and we all make errors. As long as they are corrected in the most efficient and sincere manner then we need to learn to forgive and forget. I am very grateful for the great service that they have given me from that day on.
