Chase is the bank from hell. We are not customers. We are the people who have become the unwilling servants of Jamie Dimon. They accord this privilege only to a select few who meet their standards (you may think I'm kidding. I'm not. They withdraw services if you're too 'small.') The bank is not there for our convenience, to serve us. We are only suffered to serve it (well, Jamie). Why do I say this? I'm glad you asked. I had to deal with the bank, with which I have an account (checking, savings). The only access, other than driving there, is on line, except that I don't bank on line. No access. They offer NO WAY to speak to a human. Call the branch itself? Good luck with that. The on-line phone number is listed. Call it, and it says, via a recording, "We're busy. Call back." The . . . only . . . solution . . . is . . . drive . . . there. Jamie insists on it. He offers no other way. My 'thought-bubble' expletives have been carefully avoided. I don't want to give offense. Don't use the ATMs here. PLEASE DONT. I deposited multiple checks at the ATM and it went crazy, prompted me to take my checks back, only it didn't return my checks. I now have to deal with the dreaded customer service on the phone because the branch is of absolutely no help. They shrugged their shoulders and said that someone would call me in 12 hours. More than 12 hours later, only one of the checks has posted and I'm sitting here in squalor eating my top ramen wondering WHY they put that ATM back into service when they knew it was still broken. This has caused me great anxiety and I'm tempted to move all my accounts to another bank or to my mattress. read more

As a brand new customer, my experience at this branch has left a lot to be desired. I had some questions on my new accounts and called the branch before coming in today. The person who answered said "hello" in an irritated way. I wasn't even sure I had called a business? I said " is this Chase bank?" she replied "yeah". Whoa!! That is some BAD customer service so far. Does anyone train these people? Who answers a business call without stating their name and the business name? I thought I had dialed a wrong number. After cutting me off for asking questions by telling me she was too busy to answer, she transferred me to some guy, who also seemed to have an attitude, who replied to one of my questions with "didn't you get paperwork when you opened your new account". OK, my bad for calling with a few simple questions, so far as a new customer, my honest impression is that you all stink at this branch and have zero people skills. But that's not all, folks, yep, there is more. I needed to withdraw some of my money, so I came into the branch myself to do this. I went up to the teller, whose name is Jasmine, and asked for a cashiers check. She had me sign a withdrawal form. She acted like she would not be able to give me my requested money, as she needed to "verify my signature" I told her I had a signature right on my ID which she was holding, plus I had one on the back of my new debit card. She said to me she did not "feel comfortable" with me. Excuse me? I was shocked to hear her say this? I said. "Why?" She said, "because when I asked you if you had made any check deposits here you asked me what did it matter?" OK.....so I, as a new customer, asked you a question after you had asked me one, but you now suddenly "don't feel comfortable?" That is a disgusting way to treat a new customer, Jasmine....you, quite frankly, have no class. I honestly wanted to tell her this in her face, but I bit my tongue, as I wanted to just get my business done and get the hell out of this nasty and unwelcoming branch. She finally called over a manager who "approved" me to take MY money. If this is the level of service I can expect from Chase bank, NO THANK YOU. Not worth it. Incredibly rude, and unprofessional people work here. I am pretty positive "Jasmine" was also the one who had earlier answered the phone in such an unprofessional way. Voice sounded the same. Oh, this branch. It's like building it and staffing it was a practice run for the branch a little further down El Camino. The staff are less knowledgeable, there are always some interesting characters hanging around outside. Their coffee tastes terrible. But the worst part is definitely that they are ill-informed about the various situations they might encounter, and try to pass on that misinformation to the customer. I brought in some American Express gift cheques, which function like traveler's checks (the receiver signs the top, then signs the bottom when he/she cashes them), and they told me that I had to bring them back to whoever had given them to me and have that person sign the bottom. "That person" is Google. The company. So no. The cheques had instructions that came with them, which I gave to the teller, but he was either unable to read them or understand them, and had to ask for help. My cheques got cashed, eventually, but not before he managed to write the wrong amount on the deposit slip. Oy ayoy. read more

Walking into this Chase branch, I got the most genuinely happy "good morning" I think I have ever heard. The operative word there being "genuinely." It was so lovely that it made me even happier and put a pep in my step. The two women working were incredibly sweet and took care of everything I needed. I was also in-and-out in about five minutes; some of the reviews here had me worried about that, and my concerns turned out to be unfounded. I opened my first bank account with Washington Mutual, and when WaMu became Chase, they said the change wouldn't affect me. Instead, they changed my debit card's PIN number without telling me and, after an embarrassing meal for which they had to decline credit, I found out the hard way that I wouldn't have access to the card until my newly issued PIN number was sent through the mail. I was young, I'd never had another bank, and so I just went with it at the time. Now my grandmother passed away leaving me a really unexpectedly large check. It's supposed to be a nice surprise if something like that happens, right? I deposited it in person, without withdrawing any money, and they froze my debit card, letting me find out the hard way--again--at Costco where I can't use another credit card to save face. (SO embarrassing!) It has been a week now of calling them and visiting the branch where suddenly they treated me like a suspicious con artist because the amount of money--which was verified as cleared from its Wells Fargo source--was too large to be "in character" for my account. So ONLY BECAUSE I was always poor and usually only kept a balance under 10K in my and my husband's combined accounts, they treated us absolutely unforgivably. I brought with me a photo I had taken of the check which included all the routing numbers, etc., (I wanted to show the check to my husband since it was the largest check we will probably ever see) as well as the official letter from my Aunt requesting that I deposit it as soon as possible to wrap up estate business, as well as the receipt from the branch where I deposited it in person. They also had my Driver's license and (useless) bank card spread before them. I appealed to their logic and asked them to explain the safety measure behind their policy so that I could understand how to resolve this and use my card again soon, and the bank rep as well as her completely dismissive manager said that my check needed to be verified directly by my Aunt, the executer of my grandmother's will IN PERSON even though she lives hours away, and her just calling would not be enough verification "because of the size of the check". You'd think it was a million dollars or something! It wasn't. It was just "out of character" for my financially struggling family. Because I work 14 hour days during the week it was only with tremendous effort I could make it in person to the bank at all but they wanted me to condone harassing my Aunt as though she, too, were 'suspect'. Even though I explained she was preparing for a surgery and could she please just verify with her bank--Wells Fargo--at her convenience and have this handled by the banks? They turned deaf ears. They then froze my account completely, disallowing access to the scant balance BEFORE having made the deposit, literally withholding my ability to pay my rent and bills in the meantime. I burst into tears. They said they'd call me and tried to get me out of the office. I guess I was embarrassing THEM. I asked for the manager's business card to follow up with her. She reached down, pulled out another (maybe ex-employee's card?) wrote only her first name "Johana" on it and did not include any other numbers or email that would give me any direct access to her. It was unbelievably poor service and poor regard for a fellow human being, in general. Needless to say I can't see myself a Chase customer ever again. I may have had a relatively small balance but I've never given them any trouble and have truly been an undemanding customer that it would not have been hard to keep if they had just explained why they were doing what they were doing with my debit card instead of further freezing my account and treating me--a loyal customer since I was a teenager--like a con artist trying to pull a fast one. I normally don't go inside the bank, unless what I need to do can't be done through an atm or online. A bank is a bank is a bank.... So my parents remodeled their house and lo and behold, found a bunch of savings bonds from 1984 that were given to me when I was a kid. I checked online and they all reached their maturity so I went inside to have them redeemed. The two ladies that were assisting me were very helpful (Jioty? and Reanna). It took a little bit since the bonds were old and they had to refresh their memory on how to redeem them. They didn't seem annoyed or irritated that it was a Friday afternoon and here I stroll in with hella old bonds. read more

Oh dear. I came in here wanting to change my coins to bills. I asked if they had a coin counter. The woman at the teller instantly told me that I needed to have everything rolled. That's fine, and I expected that answer. Then she tells me that Safeway has a coin counter, giving me the impression that she didn't want to help me at all. I had to ask her to give me the paper rollers so I can roll the coins. I asked her for at least $8 in penny wrappers, and some of everything else. I end up not getting enough for pennies and none for nickels. No explanation on why she didn't give me enough. When I finished rolling up my coins, I saw that the line was heading out the door and didn't feel like bothering the teller for more coin wrappers. I took my business to the Chase bank down the street, who took my business with grace and didn't make me feel like I was bothering them. I felt incredibly unwelcome here. What a shame. read more

Big big thank you to Bryan Hernandez! I visited this branch to immediately close my checking and savings account when I found multiple fraudulent charges. So glad I came in because Bryan was a million times more helpful than the agents over the phone. Not a fun experience when a large sum of money has been stolen from your account, but thankfully Bryan helped assure me that they were going to do everything they can to get the funds back within 1-2 days (people over the phone told me 1-2 weeks). He also rush ordered a new debit card and gave me a temporary one until the other one came in. Fraud sucks a**... but A+++ for Bryan for successfully calming down an extremely concerned customer! Do not come to this bank. Very unprofessional and rude staff! My office is close by so I came to do a wire transfer during my lunch time. I got it done smoothly and walked out but I rechecked the documents again just to make sure and noticed that the banker put in the phone number as the account number. I went back in to say that the document is wrong and the banker's face turned white because she made the stupidest mistake. She told me that if they don't cancel the transfer in 30 minutes my money will be gone. She called her manager and the manager called customer service for 15 minutes and looked like he had no idea how to cancel this transfer. He hung up saying "shit" and brought in another banker. I think the other banker literally just clicked a button on their website and it was cancelled. I was at the bank for about 1hr 30min and totally wasted my time here. They (the manager and the stupid banker) both did not apologize for the incident. The other banker who actually helped me cancel apologized for her mistake and even waived the transfer fee for me. Ok, I must say the level of courteous service has severely fallen of the past few months. Both the ladies behind the goals and Manager really are not interested in the customers concerns and defend the attitudes of their staff. My daughter who is typically happy go lucky and has come here with me for many years also noticed the general negativity of the staff. We assume that there has been some pressure from higher up management. Whatever is broken, it needs to be fixed. We will not be frequenting this location again. We waited literally an hour to be served by the lone banker on duty, even though we were the next customer to be served (and were told to expect a 15 min wait). I am currently at this Chase bank and have been here for the past 45 minutes. We came in at 11:00 to add myself to my parents checking account, so we need to see a bank representative in one of the offices. There are 2 people working now, plus 1 manager looking guy in a suit who will not see us. He avoids eye contact as if he doesn't want to talk to us. I'm not sure what his job is. The 2 who are working are helping Chinese people, doing I'm not sure what. I think its unacceptable to make your clients wait almost an hour to speak with a representative. Suggested solutions would be to encourage reps to kick people out once their business has been taken care of. No asking endless questions or making conversation after your inquiry is done. Chase could also staff more reps on the weekend knowing there will be more people than during the week. Overall a frustrating experience that I would never come back for. read more
