The tellers are always friendly and professional and I'm usually able to take care of my business quickly at this branch. As mentioned by other reviewers, the bankers/managers regularly ask people who are standing in line what they came in for in an attempt to relieve line congestion. Most of them are friendly and professional. One, however, is a bit to assertive. She's tall and speaks with what I assume is an African accent. I wouldn't call her rude, but she does tend to make people feel like they have to use the ATM instead of interacting with a teller. While you can get cash at the ATM, you can't always get it in the bill denominations you want, so you need to see a teller. I wish this woman would remember that. read more

I have business dealings here just about everyday. The customer service is excellent. They are very patient and efficient.

If you need to open an account earlier it was walk in and they would courteously point you to a banker. Today, they ignore you and then ask you to come back with an appointment. At the Rivermark branch they asked for a social security card for my minor daughter and I told them it was not required when I opened a custodial account for my other daughter who was also a minor. The banker rudely insisted he couldn't move forward. I came home and called Ally Bank and within 10m I had a custodial high yield savings account open with 4.20% APY and no ridiculous fees ! my advice - stop banking with Wells and shop around you will be surprised read more

This is a solid Wells Fargo branch. The tellers are super friendly and professional. I actually really appreciate that they don't always try to make awkward small talk and, when they do talk to me, it sounds genuine. I come here about once a week to do business deposits, so I've gotten to know some of the tellers/managers. It's nice to be known! The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is the parking lot, but I'm not sure they can change that too much. There's always plenty of it, but there's so much angled parking and the aisle of parking next to the building is one-way...makes it hard to get around in the car, sometimes. read more

I go into this branch at least once a month and they make me feel right at home with cookies and coffee, while providing excellent and attentive service every time. That being said, sometimes mistakes have been made and their knowledge tends to be overall somewhat less than the branch in SF that we also go to, but it is more than made up for by the great attitude and enthusiasm I'm met with, which never fails to make my day. This Wells Fargo branch is well-run. Staffers are attentive, speedy and reasonable without being obsequious. The floor space seems smaller than the old Wells Fargo branch across the street but in truth, I don't need a big branch, just one that lets me get my banking quickly so I can deal with the rest of my day. Went in to withdraw money inside the branch Bc it was large than $300.. The blond but latin looking short woman working there approached me and asked if I needed something. I had a withdrawal to make so she pointed to the atm machine next to the tellers. She stood next to me and invaded my privacy. She gave off a very distrustful vibe as if I were going to commit a crime. As a brown man that can look many ethnicities, this was not appreciated. I just happened to have the worst experience with an employee of Wells Fargo in Mountain View on the corner of El Camino and San Antonio. Her name is Sara... I came in and she was blocking the walk way to the teller line, I said excuse me twice and she got extremely snippy with me and raised her voice and came back with a sarcastic 'Excuse me ' twice. I've banked with Wells Fargo for 22 year and I've never been spoken to this way never!! I'm seriously thinking of changing my banking needs. Sara needs customer service training. read more

Hal Doan, the Service manager at the San Antonio Branch, just spent over an hour and 45 minutes with me working out an issue that was my problem, not his! Forget friendly. Unless you play by their rules, there is no going above and beyond to help a customer. I drove an hour in the rain to get there by 6pm to access my safety deposit box. I called at 5:55pm to ask if they would help me if I was a minute late. No one answered the phone. I arrived at 6:02pm and knocked on the door and was ignored by all the employees. I asked to speak to the manager and he was said they were closed and made no exceptions. Hours are horrible and customer service is terrible. After 34yrs of banking with Wells Fargo, I'm moving my accounts. read more

this is 1 of 2 wells fargo locations near where i live, and generally, this one is the easier of the 2, since parking is right next to the atm/building and i never have trouble finding parking (maybe it's b/c i'm always going later in the evening). even though there's only 1 atm machine outside, there's almost never a wait, at most, maybe 1-2 customers, but i'm usually in and out in about 5 minutes. convenience and ease of parking, what more could i ask for in a bank? read more

I agree with other reviewers that they are very friendly, unfortunately they are either not honest or extremely careless. A week also ago, I requested to exchange for 10,000 Chinese Yuan for my upcoming trip. The banker told me that would be about a bit over $1500 and there was no fee for customers. I did not pay attention to the detailed amount. A week later, I went to pick up Yuan, another banker told me that the rate now is 6.31(1$ for 6.31Yuan), and the total is $1647.15 for 10,000 yuan. I did not pay attention still. At that time I trusted banks so I did not think about that I shall check the web for exchange rate, or calculate the amount myself. The transaction was done on 12/06th. After I got home, accidently my sister in law called me and told me that she received the money from my sister and the exchange rate was 6.61. I was a bit surprised because in the past Chinese bank offered lower exchange rate than US banks. Just out of second thought, I took out the receipt and calculated the exchange rate by myself, 10,000 to $1647.15. The exchange rate is 6.07. So for the amount I paid, I should get 10,887yuan, that is 8.8% hidden fee they took from me. For 10000 yuan, I should only pay around $1511, which was close to the number the first banker quoted me. Here is the web recorded the past month exchange rate:http://www.x-rates.com/graph/?from=USD&to=CNY&amount=1. It confirms that the exchange rate is about $6.60 to $6.62 for the past month till 12/11th. I do not know whether this banker made a mistake, or the software was screwing. I am outrageous at this transaction. I assumed that I could trust Wells Fargo bank in regarding money, never imagined that I had to regard a bank as a thief and I had to be extra vigilant in doing transaction with them.There were many not so pleasant money transactions before at Wells Fargo, like they charges fees for no obvious reasons, or they said they would waive the fee because I have PMA account, but later did it anyway, or I could not close an empty account after repeatedly told them and signed the paper and mailed it back. I tolerated them all because I had been doing business with Wells Fargo for 19 years now and it is kind of tedious to change bank. But If I can not trust my bank do these sort of simple transaction correctly, and if I have to take out my phone to check the rate over the web and use my own calculator to check their numbers. I think maybe I should do business somewhere else. I exchanged money with them before. Now I wondered whether I was screwed before as well. Had my sister in law not called me and mentioned her exchange rate, the whole matter would not come to my attention at all. I would contact the branch manager tomorrow and see whether they would acknowledge their mistakes or insist on their absurd hidden fees. Will update it later. 12/11/2017, I talked to the manager who simply said you agreed to the amount then, there was wells fargo exchange rate and outside exchange rate. This place is usually pretty packed, but there are a ton of employees that make the experience friendly and quick. The assistant manager Jennifer P. is super stellar! I think most tellers that I've encountered in the past should take notes from her on how customers service should be. I felt like I was talking to my best friend even though she's a complete stranger, well not anymore, but she just has an awesome personality. Signed up for an account and it was short & simple. She gave me the general knowledge of what to do & what not to do and had a smile the whole time. I usually have good impressions with the service of Wells Fargo Mountain View branch (San Antonia & El Camino). This morning, I took $200 cash from ATM. three out of ten $20 bills were torn, ie, one of the four corners was missing. Another three $20.00 bills were very old. I walked in and tried to exchange. The lady told me with one hand playing with her own hair, "ALL $20 BILLS ARE OLD.". When I showed her the torn $20 bill, she exchanged without further questions. This is not the first time, I have got torn bills from ATM. Usually I received the apology from the employee. This is the first time I got this type of response. I was in a hurry and didn't have time to talk to the manager. Later I called the office 650-941-1900. After many rings, a lady picked up the phone. When I mentioned about the complaint of ATM, she said, "You need to register first to do so..." On the web site, there is no place that I can file the complaint. These torn/old/faded bills can not be used out of the country. I got into troubles a few times because of this. WELLS FARGO BANK, instead of greeting me with a smile and a hello, just give me proper money bills. Thank you very much! read more

What a bizarre and unnerving experience it was executing a simple banking transaction at his location. To be fair to Wells Fargo, I do not currently have a bank account with them, but this experience is one of the reasons I will never have a bank account with them. First off, before I even entered the bank, the door was opened for me by a woman who greeted me like she worked in loss prevention at the Gap, and recognized me from a serial shoplifter wanted poster. It wasn't that she wasn't pleasant enough, but the opposite. She was completely over-the-top engaging from the moment she opened the door, to escorting me the 20 or so feet to the beginning of the teller line, all the while excessively smiling while implying that "we have our eyes on you". If I'm reading too much into this, I apologize to her for taking offence at her just being too nice, but I would have to take exception to Wells Fargo to imply that their clients are so infantile to walk from the front door to the teller line without an escort. Very minor in the scheme of things, but disconcerting, none the less. Next, I presented my check at the teller window, and explained that I wanted to cash a check from one of their clients, but that I did not have a bank account there. She told me no problem, but would need two forms of ID and a signature and a thumb print. I asked what constitutes a 2nd form, as I have a CADL. She said she could take a credit card. I didn't complain, even though I am a bit leery of where my credit card info may end up. None of it was a problem, I get that they want to protect against fraud. I'm pretty sure this is typical. Then she told me I would have to take a seat with a gentleman behind one of the desks while he verified the check. He seemed like a nice enough guy, but had a somewhat nervous demeanor. He again took my two forms of ID, and called the maker of the check to confirm that they had, indeed, written me the check. They confirmed that they had. This, also, was not a problem for me. After confirming that I was me, had given my two forms of ID, and confirming that their client had written me a check, and indeed intended for me to receive said money, he then took my check and ID's to another desk for a short while, leaving me sitting at his desk, while he huddled and conferred with the person at this desk for a few minutes, only to return saying it was now OK for me to cash the check. He wrote some sort of initials or OK sign on the front and returned my ID's and walked me back to a completely different teller letting him know it was OK. This teller then asked me for two forms of ID. Really, again? OK, I pulled my ID back out and handed it over. He placed my check, my CADL, and my Visa card on the counter. Clearly he was displaying it to the eye in the sky like a Vegas dealer would cashing out chips. Then he called over a completely different woman from a desk behind him, again like a Vegas dealer alerting his pit boss to a possible card counter. Speaking of counting, not including the greeter at the front, this is now the FIFTH person involved in the process of cashing a simple check. She examined my ID, my credit card, the check, her fellow employee's authorization that he had verified said check, and then told me that they were going to charge me a $7.50 fee to cash it. Five people into the process and 25 minutes later, she tells me that they are going to charge me for the privilege of serving their clients and cashing checks that their clients write. That was my breaking point. Strictly on principal, I now had to object. "Are you F*ing kidding me?" I asked. Probably not cool for me to say. I didn't swear at her, but I did swear. I apologized and said I know she didn't make those kinds of decisions, but I think that is a poor practice to charge a fee for a "service" that has traditionally been the purpose of banks. I find it incredibly distasteful. She then questioned me as to why I didn't just go to my bank. That was incredibly rude. Wells Fargo is across the street from my work, and it was convenient, and maybe I just didn't want to. No matter how many legitimate reasons I have, how is that any of her business? So the bottom line is, Wells Fargo will pay the salaries of six people to do the job of one, maybe two people, and pay them on the backs of extortionist 'fees' for services which have traditionally been included in the normal cost of banking, meanwhile treating people like they are to be mistrusted and a threat. I only hope somebody who has the ability to reverse this trend will read this and make changes, but I fear this a portent of the future for corporate run banking and corporate run America in general. I went into this branch and talked to the branch manager, who handed me over to a Personal Banker. He told me that the branches have little to do with credit cards, but did call the credit card issuer. Wells had "upgraded" me to a signature card but failed to mail me the card. I was told by the personal banker that my credit card I currently had was no longer good. They said that they had mailed out my new card and I should get it "any day" Great but I needed a card now to link my auto pay accounts to. Being suspicious, I called the credit card number on Wells website. The man who answered the phone said that no, my new card had not yet been mailed. He then talked to a supervisor and said that they had expedited my new card and indeed my current card was deactivated. I asked if Wells would take care of any charges I might incur when the card was rejected, he said no, that he was sure my other accounts would see what a great customer I was and forgive the charges. I was mad. I then called back and talked to a supervisor when said my card was still active until they expedited the new card. This is unforgivable, and I am talking to a Chase Personal Banker on Saturday. I had been a Wells customer since 1996. read more

I've been a long time Wells Fargo customer and I want to stay with them, but they don't make it easy. They nickle and dime customers with fees. They seem to have a high turnover so you seldom get to know any of the staff. Try calling customer service and it's hard to get someone who knows what they are talking about. They are so big that the customer service folks really don't know much about customer service. On the bright side, there are lots of WF branches and it makes it easy to interface with WF in other cities. I just tried to get info on how-to use my WF debit card in Europe and customer service was impossible. Will use another bank card instead. read more

Nothing but bad customer service at this location. I went in to get 2 documents signed by there notary. I first waited 20 minutes until we asked the door greater for an update since we were still waiting for one. He didn't really have one on when the notary person would be finished with her client. So I asked him if I could leave our number for a call back when she is finished or how long it will be. So I can grab a bite to eat and got to the lock smith before I had to go back to work. 45 minutes later no call back yet. So we drove back talked to another staff member regarding the notary and no current call back as we asked for. They had me wait another 10 minutes. The notary person was finally done. And then thinking its my turn next finally. She tells us that unless its a welsfargo document she can't help us with out making a appointment. She told me of a place we could leave and go to get it signed today. Even knowing we have been waiting over an hour for her to help us. She was very rude didn't care about us not being told that she cannot help us. She didn't even try to make it right with there employee mess up even though she had no one waiting for her that needed help at that time. BTW the door greater looked at our documents we needed signed when I first came in. I would think he would have told me it wouldn't be able to get done then. I am aware that the redwood city location has this same service and no restrictions on when you can have it done & it is still a free service. read more
