Been a loyal customer since my college years and still with them ever since. This place has changed a lot since 2011. My mother has been loyal to them even when the bank was called Washington Mutual. Hard to believe the economy has a huge impact on this place. When I first came here they offered free checks which was super nice. I am just in awe this place has taken so much beatings and still stood strong in my hood. It is more than your average chase or neighborhood bank. It might outlast the Sphinx. The biggest reason why I am loyal is that 99% of everyone who works here is super professional and sweet. There's a sweet Vietnamese person who works here and every time I see her or go to her window she greets me with a smile. Doesn't that make your day or turn a frown upside down? That's 100% service here. It doesn't get any better than this. A former manager here was super patient and helped my family fix up a serious issue we had. Also when I lost all my money after college, I didn't panic why? It's because they calmed me down and helped me close my old account without tears. The location is nice, down the street from my flat However, it's not all fun and games. One employee here keeps spamming my phone for a product I don't need. DO I LOOK LIKE I OWN A BUSINESS OR WANT A HOME LOAN? NO, I'M TOO BROKE FOR ALL THAT. They could use some better help to market their services here. If a giant truck comes in the lot it can get hard to drive. The building is why I mentioned the word sphinx, it's too old. Explain to me how a bank has no ability to count large amounts of change? Banks are quite literally where we should be able to go to manage our money. I'm appalled. My 4 year old son has been collecting change in his piggy bank and had a ton to count and deposit into his college savings account. We went to this branch and were handed a tray to manually count and roll our huge bag of change. I couldn't believe it. A bank of all places should have a machine to do this for us. The teller then told me she can't take the time to help or do it for us. When I asked about a counting machine she told me to go find a coin star somewhere (which would take a percentage of my son's money.) I can't make this up. I had to pick up my younger son at daycare so there was no way I could stay and count all his change. So we left- without being able to get anything done. Oh and when I called afterwards to speak to a manager so I could try to understand, no one answered and there was no ability to leave a message- the call just drops. Completely stupid. read more

Every time there's about three employees sitting around and the receptionist tells me I have to wait an hour for an appointment. On 6/5/20 at 6:55 PM I attempted to get a cash advance off one credit card and deposit it into my bank account and asked Josephine Cho for assistance. She asked for my photo I.D. and asked me to enter my debit card information. She then advised me that I had to sign over where I purposely wrote "Check Photo I.D." on the credit card and that was because Chase had an agreement with Visa and she couldn't help me unless I did so. I advised her that I write "Check Photo I.D." on all my credit cards and even explained the reason why and she attempted to argue with me on Chase's policy that I had to write over the card that had my note: "Check Photo I.D." with my signature or she couldn't help me. I asked her if she a manager and she replied no. She said she was a supervisor and that the branch manager had helped her with this type of situation before so she was correct in how she treating me. I asked to speak with her manager, Danica Cavigliano and she walked off to find her and came back to inform me that she had left for the day. I advised her she was being ridiculous and that no one has ever informed me that I had to sign over or above my note: "Check Photo I.D." on the card. She said that was Chase's policy and that if I didn't sign per her request then no service. I told her I couldn't believe she was doing this during this sensitive time in the Country and I knew that wasn't Chase's policy and I thought she was a racist. She said that wasn't the case and I was being unfair. I asked for her supervisor's business card and her's if she had one. She gave me both and said she would file a complaint for me as all other Chase branches that accommodated me in the past with cash advances and didn't force me to write over my signature on the card as she demanded that I did were incorrect in the way they serviced me and they should have refused service to me as she did. I told her don't bother as I was going to file my own complaint against her and that branch. That same night I sent an email to Danica Cavigliano explaining the disrespect and discrimination that Josephine Cho exhibited towards me. The next day Danica called me instead of replying to my email. I called her back only to find out that she tried to protect Josephine by confirming that was Chase's policy and that she was aware that Josephine did file a complaint on my behalf and of course didn't detail what she noted on the complaint, She said that another Chase employee might call me to follow up on this complaint. I spoke to Clint in the Escalation Dept. for Chase Bank and he confirmed that Josephine Cho conveniently omitted that I had "Check Photo I.D." written on my credit cards and she was enforcing the policy that the card had to be signed in order to proceed with service. He also confirmed that forcing a customer to write over or above the "Check Photo I.D." note on any credit card was not Chase's policy. I thanked him for his time and honesty about the disrespectful and racist experience I had to endure at this Chase branch on Saratoga Ave. in San Jose, CA. I think that Chase Bank is a great place to have a bank account and have never experienced a racist ordeal like that at any other branch and I have been a customer there for many years. Every Chase Bank other than this location offered great customer service! I feel Josephine Cho should be fired for how she treated me and attempted to cover up the situation by lying on what actually occurred to cover her racist motives towards me. She thought she could use a loop hole as Chase's policy with another bank to enforce turning my credit card into scribble in the signature area. I also feel the branch manager, Danica Cavigliano should be fired as well for not acknowledging the situation for what it was as she knew what happened as she saw the complaint that Josephine wrote on my behalf as if that was even necessary and she should have known that was Chase's policy not to harass a customer for no reason. Danica also informed me she could look back at tapes if needed. Don't open an account or do business at this branch and hopefully they'll shut down since these two individuals don't respect all customers of Chase Bank and please write reviews on Yelp to share how they treat their customers. read more

Chase me away Thursday, 5/13/21, 3:30pm Very disappointed with their service. I called ahead of time at around 2pm n talked to David about notary services. He assured me that it would be alright for me to drop in anytime from 3-4, even 5 before they close. He even checked to make sure that the notaries would be available for us. David had helped us many times in the past n was always very courteous n helpful. So it was great n never thought about it again. 1-1/2 hours later I came in with my daughter and grandson at 3:30. The greeters at the entrance were nice n we waited for a couple of minutes. Then the manager(?) (she looked like the authoritative type) came out and told us we'd have to come back another day n claimed that the appointments were full for the day. I asked to speak with David n she said his appointments were full too n we couldn't even wait. Wow, really! Basically telling us to get the hell outta there. Very rude! Very rude indeed! On the way out of the door, another customer complained to us the same about their lack of service n their lousy attitude toward customers. He said he was ready to move his money somewhere else. Customer service is horrible here. I couldn't even explain my situation to the tellers and banker before they would shut me up and interrupt. Never have I dealt with anyone as rude as I just did. I asked for an explanation and they couldn't give me one and they said "I don't know". there's no reason why I should have an extra hold on my check when you deposit it and you tell me you can't tell me why it's on a hold? 200 is suppose to be delivered to you right away and the remaining balance will come on the following day. This location is never packed and the staff is always energetic and ready to assist you.They always have hot coffee ready and free lollipops scattered throughout like eggs in Easter egg hunt. It's not the closest Chase to me but I come to the branch that makes me feel appreciated. Unlike the branch in Santa Clara where I was shorted $200 and the manager said it was my fault and didn't compensate me...just thought I'd add that! More interesting is this is also the same branch when I first I opened my account, just back then it was Washington Mutual (WaMu). Although I cannot agree the recent policy that Chase decided to kill the legacy free checking account for former WaMu customer, but this review is just for this particular branch only. The corporate decision should not affect this review One thing do keep in mind that I seldom go in to a bank's branch, because I handle all my bank transaction through the ATM machine and through online banking. ---- Office: 5/5 ---- This branch is big, not very big. However, the super tall ceiling makes the branch looks huge, and a very elegant feel, almost like a hotel lobby. Chase had done some upgrade on the office itself since the WaMu days, the LCD screen behind the teller counter give a bit of modern feeling. ---- Service: 4/5 ---- This branch did a great job on welcoming the customer and maintains the professional feel of a big bank at the same time. They now even have a customer service counter right at the entrance, which I think is used for more general and not transactional customer service which usually handled by the call center. I see this is a plus, as I really don't like calling in. I was greeted by a friendly representative, and he later led me to a personal banker when he learned my purpose of the visit. The entire process of closing my account was pleasant, and the banker did try to offer me some alternatives, but no hard selling product. ---- Conclusion ---- As I can remember, I think I had only been inside this branch for service maybe only 3 or 4 times in 5 years. But as I can remember, the experience of every visit had been pleasant. I generally don't like banks, so it is hard for me to write something good. I also don't have an account with Chase, but had the unfortunate opportunity to run into this branch. I needed to move money into a friend's account. Should be simple. Walk in, wait in line, give the teller cash and tell her the account to put it into. Simple right? This Chase location does not take cash. What? That FEDERAL RESERVE NOTE that clearly states "THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR ALL DEBTS, PUBLIC AND PRIVATE" is not good at Chase? The teller tells me that I have to go to another place and get a cashiers check or money order, they don't take cash. Isn't it easier to make a counterfeit check than a counterfeit $100 dollar bill? So, I had to go across the street to Wells Fargo (who does take cash) to get a cashiers check. After hearing my story, the teller at Wells Fargo laughed and waived the check fee. Within the branch, Graham has been a great and helpful banker that took care of my requests the most often. Mark, the investment consultant, has also been very helpful. Every time I visit this Chase bank, the personnel within this branch has a smile and is approachable. As a Chase CPC customer, I enjoy working with this branch on my investments and many banking needs. Wow I walked to the door of Chase Bank on Saratoga today and looked to my left casually and a lady on the phone in a glass office made a stop with her hand, wiped it across her face to ask where was my mask. I shook my head because I am not sick and didn't need one. I used there hand sanitizer. She shooed me away with her hand and stood up, still on the phone. Then a bunch of people working there ran up to me and told me I can't come in. Well the machines were not accepting deposits so what could I do?! My bank teller Sarah was rushed because she had a client coming. She mentioned that she can only take me if my problem was small. I had a problem with connecting my chase account to another bank so that I can pay my bills online without having to put money into my chase account. I tried to show her and explain what was happening and was completely rushed through the process. I want to go back there to fix it but I am nervous I will get the same customer service from another staff. I understand wanting to be prompt but at what expense of customer service. I came in to do a simple task and they told me I would have to sit down and wait for a banker. Me and a gentleman were sitting and waiting for at least 20 minutes when another woman came in and said she needed to talk to a banker they told her to sit down and wait. When the next banker was available and asked who was next the man stood up while I pointed at him and said him the woman who had not been sitting down for even a minute yet stood up and said she had been here. Just went in to cash a check in order to pay my credit card off. They said my check wouldn't clear for 5 days and would not even be able to pay my card until It cleared. Since the deposit was too much compared to my account. Now I am going to accrue fees because I couldn't pay it off in the time that I wanted. They will do anything in order to push customers away and get as much money in fees as possible. Spoke the the "assistant manager" who wouldn't let me speak to anyone in charge. Not happy with the service provided at all. Canceling my chase account once this clears. Horrible!!!! read more
