The Chase Bank experience has dwindled. I've been a customer since forever in the Bay Area (since it was taken over from WaMu). It's reliable, until it isn't for all the wrong reasons. 1. At this branch, the ATM is almost always down. It's always no cash available currently (May and June 2024). 2. I tried to get ahold of its mortgage business - and the agent there are mostly not reachable. They also dissuade me from the best available options - which is availability and eligibility of 1st time home owner loans/alternatives. To be fair, maybe they're just not supposed to tell you what's right. 3. the ATM took my money and didn't send me a receipt. Nowadays, I have to always video myself putting in money for proof. It has come to that level of untrustworthiness. 4. I always need to watch out for the monthly fee that they charge onto my account and then spend time to call them to reverse it because I had sufficient amount in my account, or have enough direct deposit for the month, or whichever the reason it is that should have waived the monthly charge. 5. All the foreign money request is no longer available on site. You'll need to request well in advanced... but seriously, I thought at least they'll have the Euro's or something that is usually requested (since Euros cover lots of country... like almost a continent). 6. For this particular branch, they never have enough Lunar New Year envelopes - I have to go to branch nearby (Pleasant Hill for example). I hope it gets better. read more

Financial Abuse (Fraud?) by Chase Bank Please be cautious in dealings with Chase Bank. A CD at Chase Bank matured 2/13/25. Chase did not notify me of the impending maturity date. The account was "automatically" rolled over into a 9-month CD at an interest rate of 0.01%! You read that correctly--one one-hundredth of a percent. I ultimately located a letter on the Chase website stating that the CD would automatically renew for a and that "You'll receive the rates that are in effect on 2/13/2025, which may be lower than your current rates." Chase representatives at the Ygnacio Valley branch could provide no cogent explanation as to why our funds were accruing interest at this infinitesimal rate nor make any adjustment. read more

The Walnut Creek branch has been charging me fees for an account that I didn't sign up for and they will not stop or reverse the charges. Both Sal and the branch manager are exceptionally avoidant and unresponsive for months. I've wasted days going to the branch and calling, with no response! I'm coming up on 1 year! Had my business account with chase for many years and hundreds of thousands of dollars went through the account every year. Pretty often I would walk in to cash or repurpose a cashier check to another name. Never had any Issues. Today they not only refuse the cash a cashiers check (which is considered as cash)!, manager looks me straight in the eyes and tells me "we have never done it" bluntly lies and basically calls me stupid, as I don't know what I'm talking about. I felt so disrespected. It was like one of those moments, when someone repeats the same phrase over and over again, as if they're under gag order. I kept telling her I've been cashing checks here this way for many years and she kept looking at me saying " sorry no we don't do that". YEAH, SORRY; NO YOU'RE NOT! BUT NO WORRIES, THERE IS MANY OTHER BANKS WHO WOULD LOVE TO HAVE MY BUSINESS. read more

Walter Aguilar is the guy to see at this location. He was super helpful and really friendly. When I first arrived there was a long line and they close at 2pm on Saturdays. He said someone will be right with you and was great with customer service. The female teller I had at the counter was a little surly but Walter was really nice and helpful. They had a line of people when I left but he offers great customer service when you are with him and I think that speaks volumes about him and this branch. read more

Does anyone work at this branch or is it a decorative feature on Main?? I scheduled a meeting for a loan, I arrive and the person I'm to meet with took the week off of work. No worries, things happen. Neither the person I was to meet with or anyone else notified me that she'd be a no show. Since nobody else wanted to help, I left. After a very bad experience with Bank of America ( customer service wise) trying to open a new bank account I was pleased with my visit. I called and scheduled an appointment even though I was told it wasn't necessary and they could fit me in if need be. As banks go this one is good. This branch though is lousy. They INSIST you fill out a bank slip. And lord help you if your don't because they DEMAND you do when you reach a cashier and will glare at you if you tell them you don't know how. They then explain slowly how and make you do it, even if you did kinda know how and just didn't want to because the line is huge and you're in a hurry. I was used to dealing with the Rossmoor branch. Who I could go up to, hand them my card tell them what I wanted and they'd do it. The loans people are rude and have you stand there waiting for a few minutes before they even acknowledge you. read more

Great experience in this branch. Me and my girl was looking to start a new business account. Smart me didn't think to make an appointment for a busy Saturday. Bank Manager Nicolas was great enough to greet us, get our attention and took the initiative to lend some help. He quickly tried to search for any open appointments for us with any of the Bank Managers. He wasn't able to find any open appointments within his branch but he went to above and beyond and called other branches around the area. He was able to get us an appointment with Chase in Lafayette. Definitely glad that we run into Nicolas thankful for the help. 5 stars. read more

The parking lot is only free for bank customers but according to the sign - it seems like you have to pay for parking after 1pm on Saturday. I like coming to this branch because they are open on Saturday. The staff are nice, attentive and helpful. They also have free coffee, tea and some sweets! read more

Stay away from Chase. They're a snakepit of hidden fees just waiting to drain your bank account (at which time you'll be overdrawn and they'll hit you with another cascade of fees). It's been a nightmare since they took over Wamu. I noticed this morning that they're offering $100 to new customers who open a checking account with them...so they're clearly not attracting new customers by word of mouth, customer service, or fair fees. As for this specific branch: any time you go in there are 5 or 6 people behind the counter. If you're lucky 3 of them will be actively helping the line of customers. The others are chatting and avoiding eye contact with you. read more

This is the Chase bank across the street from George's Giant Hamburger. Since George's won't take cash, I went here to get some extra. First, I had to search for the ATM. At every Wells Chargo, the ATMs are right up front and visible. This was the first major bank I've seen where I had to literally walk all the way around the building just to find them. I knew, being a Wells Chargo customer, that I would get a fee. $3? Three stinking dollars just to get a $20 bill? Then, on top of that, the machine was "unable to perform my transaction". After all that crap, Chase then fails me when I need them. [expletive deleted]. I'm not a fan of Hells Chargo by any means, but this singular experience with Chase has definitely been a negative one. I'll be staying away from Chase if I ever decide to switch banks. read more

This poor bank has seen better days, and the staff has been decreased... but I think the past reviews don't really do this place justice. The associates are usually very friendly, and many people that I have had conversations with are just trying to make a living right now and keep their job. I give many props to the employees that also volunteer their time with charitable organizations, which I can confirm because I work for one of those organizations. The ATMs could be a little more up to date, but I guess JP Morgan is going to have to decide if they want to spend any money to give this place a face-lift. Chase is much worse than Washington Mutual used to be. WaMu used to treat their customers well. Chase has now given us terrible interest rates and pays us very little money back. Corrupt bank executives don't deserve your money. Find a nice not-for-profit credit union instead. Credit unions offer all of the same services as a bank and they are insured by the government up to the same amount just like the FDIC. read more

I switched to Chase bank after being with both Bank of America and Wells Fargo. Chase has been pretty good to me. They have great bill pay features and keep "real time" track of your money online and on their mobile app. Those last two features alone are 10 times more than what I received from Bank of America and Wells Fargo. Do they have fees? Yes, but all banks do in one form or another and most are associated with things that are the customer's fault. Also, when I have called about a fee that I didn't understand or felt was unwarranted, they have refunded me. This branch is pretty good. Every time I have ever had to sit down with someone, it has been friendly and smooth. The staff is polite and some are pretty awesome. When I went in to refinance my car loan that is with another bank, they advised me NOT to refinance because it would cost me more money in the long run. I was impressed with the honesty. This guy could've scored another loan for his bank and helped Chase make money off me, but he advised against it in MY best interests. This is the kind of employee and advice that is so rare nowadays. I've never experienced anything close to what the other reviewers have stated. I'd reccomend Chase to anyone looking for a new bank. read more

This Chase is large, quick to get in and out, and the staff is cordial.

This is my first trip to this branch, for a quick pickup of cash. I arrived at 5:30 on Friday, was greeted when I walked in and walked into line. There were 3-4 associates and one person ahead of me. I was quickly served by a lady behind the counter, and even when I forgot to fill out the slip she did it for me. The inside was quite large and look new. There are two ATMs in front if you need. The only awkward thing is the parking lot access, you can't turn in to the lot going west on Newell. I see there are a number of negative reviews here, but they were nice enough to me. read more

My daughter signed up for the college account which has no monthly fees. About 15 months ago she started getting hit with a $6/mo fee. She is in South Africa so she does not get statements and internet access is slow. Plus, I'm sure, she figures the back can't make major mistakes. I happened to spot the fees when I was checking something. Fortunately I'm a co-sign on the account so I can see what is going on and move money easily. The college account says you won't get fees for 5 years if you're a student. She originally opened the account about 4 years ago, then switched to the college account a couple of years ago. She is still a student. When I called the agent said she is not making monthly deposits (NOT part of the deal). When I talked with a supervisor they said they can't give out information and they can't make corrections (like this, I suppose). So....After spending serious time on the phone and printing out two years of statements, I'm ready to take on the bank. Wish me luck. read more

OMG... Ever since WaMu switched to Chase, it's been HORRIBLE! Why can there be an option for NO stars! UUUggghhhhhhh... Steer Clear of this fee hungry, fining for breathing bank... I wish I could give ZERO STARS... THIS IS THE WORST BANK EVER I DID BUSINESS WITH !!! 1) When I walked in to open a safe deposit box, they told me that the person who deals with that was on lunch break and that I have to come back later. I came back an hour later, then they told me that there were no boxes available... 2 weeks later I was there for something else and it happened that I mentioned how sad it was that there were no more safe deposit boxes available. But then the guy told me that there are MANY boxes available. 2) I opened an account for a safe deposit box, the first one they assigned to me didn't open. It seemed like they had the wrong keys. I had to sit there for another half hour to sign all paperwork again for the second box. This time the keys worked, but the size of the box was larger than what it said in their records. First they wanted to charge me more for it, but when I protested they gave it to me for the price of the smaller box. 3) Chase raised the annual fee for deposit boxes, that's why I decided to close my account two years later. I went to the branch and asked one of the cashiers what I needed to do, she told me that I had to see a personal banker for that - not mentioning that I had to sign in for that now. So, I was sitting there for a while and everyone who showed up after me was helped before I was. When I found out that they require you to sign-in, three people already had passed me... 4) The deposit box was closed for over TWO months when I noticed on my statement that they charged me for it for another year. I called them to let them know about their mistake. They couldn't fix it over the phone, I had to go to the branch once again. At the branch they first didn't believe me that I had closed the deposit box. After they went through all of their files they finally realized that I closed it. They said that I would get reimbursed for the amount that was charged on my account. I mentioned that those kind of things shouldn't happen in the first place - instead of an apology they just told me: "Mistakes can happen". Seriously? This is how this bank does business? They mess up and then they tell you that it is okay? My advise: AVOID THIS BANK, THEY WILL ONLY CAUSE YOU MASSIVE HEADACHES. read more

I have been trying to get my $500 mortgage application fee refund for over a month now. I have been sending an email every week requesting the refund and keep getting they are working on it. Last week the lending manager, Eddie Fernandez, sent this message: "I apologize for the delay in getting this refund to you. We still had your loan as an active loan in our system which is why the refund did not go through. I am working with my team to get this cancelled off of the network and process your refund as soon as possible. I apologize for any inconvenience this has caused." Really? I have been asking them for over a month to process my refund. Total incompetence and disregard for their customers. In the meantime, the credit card payment is now due. UPDATE 6/16/2016: Never did receive the refund. Filed a disputed charge complaint with by credit card company that took the charge off my account. The ironic part is my credit card company is Chase!
