Review #014 - 2026 I rarely make my way out to this location unless it is on a Saturday, which I've only visited twice in the two years that I am employed at my company. My first experience around Christmas time was normal since I had to come get cash for our company bonus and everything went pretty smoothly. Today, June 20th, we arrived around 12:30 PM and it was a little busy so I was patient and understanding when they asked me to wait almost 15 minutes just to make a simple deposit. However, when it was my turn, the teller, Gina Lopez, was not so happy to see that I had some loose coins in my deposit bag. I try very hard to be accommodating and roll up all of my loose coins if they actually add up to a full roll. I rolled up the quarters since it was a full roll. However, the nickels and dimes didn't so I just left them loose. Her first comment was, "you're supposed to roll up all the coins!" with a sour face. Of course, I replied as such, "I rolled up the quarters because they added up to a full $10, but the others didn't add up to a full roll." So, she pretended to be a little friendlier as I sat there and ignored her while writing this review while she counted my coins. If you don't want to count, maybe don't get a job at the bank! I've never told any of my customers that they aren't allowed to pay in coins just because I was too lazy to count their money. read more

So I walk in the branch at 330 pm on a weekday and there is no line. A lady from her desk yells over "welcome and I will help you in a moment" and proceeds to file paperwork. She is still doing her paperwork and yells over "Are you just doing a deposit?". I reply, "I will wait for you to finish what you were doing"... She seems offended and says I can multitask... but I will have one of my associates help you. This is all from her desk.. Her associate gets up and addresses me. So I am speaking with the associate.. The first lady "Bakina" interjects interspersally... and is upset with rising voice telling me to leave "her branch"... The "manager" comes out.. so I give my version. My mother died in December, and she had her main bank account with US Bank. She had been using the Rossmoor branch that closed, so I went to this branch to deal with the stuff around her death and estate. They were super helpful, did all the necessary paperwork relating to my mother's accounts, and gave me advice that proved to be quite useful. We've been banking with U.S. Bank since early 2000. We recently purchased an existing business and needed some capital for our accounts receivable and to hire an additional sales person. We have doubled sales within the first year with many more prospects, but we needed another sales person. When we initially made contact with the business banker she was excited to work with us because I am also a veteran, which she said U.S. Bank leans favorably towards veterans. Then when we started the process she said the "Patriot Loan" was no long available. The whole process was very lengthy and intrusive (over three months), with them requesting new sets of documents week after week. Our credit score is in the high 700's/low 800's. The old adage rings true "don't go to the bank requesting a loan when you NEED capital, go to the bank when you DON'T need capital." So we went to a family member who had a CD paying less than 1.0% and they were more than happy to cash in and loan us the money at 5.0%. U.S. Bank is ok for cookies and coffee but if it's not a slam-dunk (they want zero risk) my advice is to stay away, as we did. read more

This is my home branch. They are good at calling me to see if I need any of their "products" but they cannot call me when the back office decides to pull $60K+ out of my account after I was told at another branch the checks I was putting in were fine. A phone call from my home branch that they were doing this would have been nice. I was told by the Concord branch, it was the back office at Lafayette who made the decision to pull the money out of my account. See below for an explanation. Their back office district manager lied to me, and said nothing was returned on my account. Sure enough, three credit card payments were. Not sure why Kalvin felt the need to lie to me! Can trust USBank as it seems that they hire liars. [Edit: Just talked to Kalvin, he claims he did not lie. What he did do was not look back to the day of the original deposit to see if anything had been returned. He did not take the time out to call someone else and see if this happened. So not a liar, just incompetent and not willing to actually do a good job. And I contend if you tell a mistruth because you did not do your job correctly, it is still a lie.] My post for the original incident: Anita and the tellers are kind, however, management does not stand behind the decisions their tellers make, nor stand behind them when a mistake has been made. This is not my branch, but it is the closest one to me. (I am not at this branch, because when I asked the branch manager to transfer me from the horrible Safeway branch, that I was moved to when the Lucky's one closed, would not assist me in getting my account changed to there. It was only when the Safeway one made a HUGE mistake did I insist on getting moved to Lafayette.) I was told that the mistake that was made this week was because the Lafayette back office kicked back a deposit that Anita confirmed, and as I asked at least three times, told me there was no hold on it. There was NO notice on my receipt that there was a hold, and I am staring at a screen shot of my account online and it shows the full balance was put in there. Only to be pulled back by Lafayette, or at least that is what I am being told. I am so angry right now...and it is a Saturday, so of course I cannot talk to Kalvin, the district back office manager, who assured me yesterday NONE of the payment I made on various credit card accounts had tried to clear, so they would be paid. Well, I am not sure what system Kalvin was looking at, but now THREE...at least...of my payments were returned from USBANK. $27 return fee from the credit card company, and another one, and another one. OH, not to mention all the interest too. Yep, interest on over $10K worth of payments being made. Not to mention MY TIME!! I have gone to the branch twice, on Thursday when I noticed USBANK stole money from my account (if you tell me there is no hold, and you tell me you verified the deposits, you show it in my account online a my balance, and you have NOTHING printed on my receipt of a hold, then you STOLE my money when you pulled it back out of my account without EVER CALLING ME AND TELLING ME THIS NOR SENDING ME AN EMAIL). Now some of you might be saying "Well, you must have deposited checks that bounced." Nope, not at all. These checks were from a well known insurance company. In fact, I was receiving checks from this company for 18 months, not of this amount, but from this company. USBANK has images of all of these. But USBANK decided it was better to screw over a customer. Sure, USBANK will make me whole eventually. They have to because they know they are wrong. But why the heck did Kalvin tell me there was no returned items. What system is he looking at? Is anyone at USBANK actually doing their jobs? They will make me whole again after I have to spend lots of time printing up statements, redacting all other information from those statements, totaling up the amounts, figuring the interest I was changed, figuring out how much they own me for my time...this will all take time. I will have to wait for them to contact each of my credit card companies and tell them USBANK was at fault for the returns. (BTW, I don't bounce checks or get returns...unless USBANK has made a mistake.) All I wanted was a bank to do business with, one that was fair and kind, USBANK is not this bank at all. read more

This branch closed during the coronavirus pandemic, Even though banking is a critical industry and they should be open! They had a phone number for customers to call. I called them and there was no answer, including voicemail. Then I called them the next day and there's still no answer. This is why people panic during pandemics and worldwide crises! read more

I'm so frustrated with this bank!! Over a year ago I stopped using us bank. Unfortunately I accidentally charged something to it back in October and ended up over drafting by 2$. For 2 months I had been getting over draft fees without any receipt of mail, phone call or email. Now I find that I owe almost 200$!! A courtesy notification of my overdraft would have been really nice a few months back! read more

While the people in the branch are nice, don't ever ask them for a loan. Their underwriting department doesn't know what they are doing and they don't keep their commitments. We applied for a home equity loan and was promised 4 weeks expedited loan. It took 7 weeks after extreme pressure by us. The underwriting department had all documents they requested, but keep requesting them again and again, showing they didn't know what they had in their file--and certainly had read the docs they requested. Finally got the loan, but not at the terms they were advertising and we are still fighting about that. read more

Generally these guys are helpful, but today their on line systems are down and to get a copy of my statement that I need for an end of June report it will cost $6. I explained the only reason I needed it was because their on line banking systems are down. No matter, it's 6 bucks. Can't think of a better way to chase away customers. I have been lived in lafayette for 3 years and started banking with us bank straight away. I've been really happy with the service- ALL of the telers and the manager remember your name and are really friendly. They have also been acommodating on any occassion that I have had any problem with my account ie gone overdrawn. I cannot actually remember a single problem that they have caused me in my 3 years of banking with them which is most definitely a first for me. read more

They opened up a business checking account for me, and I began to write checks on it and build my business around it. Two weeks later they suddenly claimed that they were very worried that they didn't know where I lived. So I gave them documentation from none other than the County of Contra Costa Housing Authority, showing plainly that I live at my address. They admitted that this documentation looked good, but suddenly they said my account would be "under review" and that they were "reviewing the documents." I asked, "which documents." And then they said, "I don't know. We're reviewing the documents." So I called all the US Bank Customer service lines, filed complaints in the business checking departments, the personal accounts departments, and with supervisors. No one at the bank was showing any inclination to be proactive. In fact, the manager, after calling my whole account into question, would not get off the phone and look at the document and say that it was good enough. And it was Friday, by the time they told me, so now I must go on vacation not knowing whether I'll have a bank account. What's worse is, no one in Customer Service had any power to follow up on my case, and furthermore, they did not permit the "filing of complaints." They merely had a "Feedback Form;" and no form was allowed to be called a "complaint." So "feedback," as a term, takes all the energy and urgency of it. "Feedback" sounds utterly optional, or perhaps interesting, but has none of the charge that the word "complaint" does. They don't like complaints, so they simply refuse to use that word on the heading of their forms. All up and down the line, not a single person volunteered to call me back. No one said they had any power to see to it that another person called me back. Nor did they say they would write back, nor would they venture to say that anyone would write back at any time. Also, they turned me down for a credit card, although I have a perfect credit rating and perfect payments on all accounts for as far back as computer records go. By contrast, American Express, when there was an underwriting glitch, got on the line, and the first person I got took charge and said they were personally going to see to it that she and I were on the line with the underwriting person who would solve the problem. Then, the underwriting person didn't get off the line till he found a way to get my credit line though. American Express, by contrast to US Bank, told me that for sure they would be working on it, they told me who would be working on it and they told me they would see to the status of these things this very minute. At US Bank no employee has any power to respond in any way, but to merely say that maybe someone would respond, or maybe not; and maybe you have a checking account, or maybe not; and they didn't know why their service was this way. Meanwhile, other companies are getting my credit business. And they get my payments perfectly, on time, every month, and my credit and banking records remain perfect, with all account showing a perfect transaction record for all of the recorded history available on those accounts. Meanwhile, I have to wonder if my account will be shut down or not, because no commitment beyond, "There is nothing I can do. They are reviewing the documents," can be given at US Bank. Part of this is my fault, when they rejected me for a credit card, me with my over-800 credit rating, I should have known they were odd. Now, I'm trying to go on a vacation, but while I'm gone, I now need to worry that my checking account will be shut down or that checks will bounce. And, if I want any more certainty than that, I have to leave my vacation and come home and inquire at the branch level. Corporate says, strangely, that it has no authority to intervene on behalf of customers when the branch is behaving this way, and that if I want to complain about a branch, I should go to that branch. So, it would be like me complaining to a boss about how one of his workers did a job, and that boss saying, "Yes, well, I don't take those complaints. If you want to complain about a worker, you must go to that worker to complain." The weird thing is, no one in all of US Bank shows any embarrassment about how strange that is. Plus, there a simply no complaints pending against me. I have all perfect references from all financial institutions. In any case, why did they open up the account and then wait till I was counting on this account before telling me that, after all, the account was merely opened, but not approved. They let you go out into the world with a stack of checks, then, after you write the checks, they say that they're not really sure they should have even opened your account, but that they will let you know later whether your account is going to be really approved or not. So far, they don't seem sorry about this at all, not even slightly. read more
