I hate to just jump on the bandwagon, but people are right -- this place is DELISH!! I wanted something quick, but reasonably healthy at the same time: Not an easy combination. Yelp suggested this place and I decided to give it a shot. Now I'm counting down until I can go again! It's kind of like an Asian Chipotle? You start by picking a base (white rice, brown rice, lo mein, or rice noodles) and then add a protein, fresh veggies (hot and cold), and a sauce. They are super nice about helping you figure out what goes well together and making suggestions. I got brown rice with bulgogi beef and a rice wine vinaigrette sauce, with daikon, carrots, broccoli and pickled cucumbers. My daughter got Chasu pork on rice noodles with the same vinaigrette sauce and her own collection of veggies. We didn't leave a single bite -- it was delicious. I grew up with homemade bulgogi, so I'm fairly picky -- but this was seasoned to perfection and grilled fresh. She loved the Chasu pork. The only downside to the meal was the price -- 2 bowls, a side of Chasu buns (which were the low point -- the bowls were plenty filling and the buns weren't anything to write home about) plus two drinks came out to $28. That's definitely not bad, and worth it for the food we got -- but higher than I expect with a single $ on Yelp. Overall I can't wait to go back! Next time no Chasu buns, and I'm sure it'll be 5*!! read more

Wow. The gobo chips are seriously like opening a bag Lays.... you can't eat just one.... order. I had the bulging I beef bowl with the street corn and cold rice noodles. Don't hate on cold rice noodles. You want something cold in the bowl to balance everything out. The pickled cucumbers are fantastic and add a nice crunch. New Asian restaurant that reminds me of an 'Asian Freebirds' or Chipotle. You choose a wrap or bowl. Then choose all the items you want from an order-line. The portion size is definitely more than Freebies bowl. Quality is pretty good for the price, and sauces are good... But I like to add more sauce, so ask for more of the sauce you want. They have rice, noodles, veggies, or wrap as the base. Proteins available are bulgogi beef, tofu, shrimp, Sarah chicken, or pork. There's a good mix of veggie options to add. This is my 1st time writing a Yelp review. But wanted to share a hidden gem while on a business trip to Plano, Texas. Especially if you like Char-Siu (a.k.a. Chinese BBQ Pork). Having grown up in Southern California and always surrounded by yummy and inexpensive Chinese BBQ places like Sam Woo BBQ, I know what good and quality Chinese BBQ Pork is all about and supposed to taste like. But Chasu Kitchen has a different twist. Their BBQ pork is more Americanized but still has the traditional Chinese flavor smoked in. Everything is made to order so you can expect freshness. I like the unlimited veggies toppings and sampling of different sauces that come with it. For side order, I wanted to order a sampler of their appetizers but it wasn't a choice cause again everything is made to order. So I settled on the chicken wings and gobo chips. The chicken wing was nicely seasoned. The gobo chips were a little bit too oily for me. Maybe because it was cut razor thin or just my 1st time having it. I'll probably give the gobo chips another try if I can request the chips get cut a little thicker. Since they didn't have an appetizer sampler, the owner was very sweet and threw in the Tofu fries free of charge for me. Of course that was yummy too. Overall, great Asian fusion food, great ambiance, and great customer service. The location can be a little hard to find because it's nestled near a Target store but worth the drive. read more

I did not go but my wife, kids, niece and mother in law did. They loved it! I got an email from yelp about new restaurants and suggested they try it. They were headed to Panda Express. Now my daughter who attends Plano West wants me to take her there for lunch on school days. My wife said the owners were pleasant and attentive. Sounds like they reside in Plano as well. SOOO SOOO GOOD! Make your own Asian bowl-I got lo mein with bulgogi and a bunch of veggies (these are unlimited) and the gojujiang sauce (sweet and spicy) so good! Food without MSG, customized for your taste and quick! Def. the place to go for your Asian fix! Brought the family here for lunch. Food is fresh. I had the beef roll with Chasu sauce and my son had the beef bowl with curry sauce. Both were flavorful. Chasu bun and firecracker shrimp were good, though please note the shrimp isn't typical fried shrimp - shrimp is wrapped like an egg roll. Very attentive service with owners coming by to check on things. Agree with other reviewers that it is much like Chipotle but with Asian twist. Update - 4/28/18 Enjoyed another meal at Chasu. Food was pretty good. A+ for being healthy and having cooked vegetables that were lightly sauteed and flavored perfectly. This is a good place to go for simple, whole ingredients. The menu was placed in an awkward spot and it doesn't tell you how much certain toppings cost (they charge extra for guacamole and other miscellaneous toppings). Only when I sat down did I realize the cost of extra toppings was scribbled on the plastic divider in front of the counter. I thought it was a bit $$ for what you get, hence the 4 stars. I was looking for someplace different and i've found it. Usually when trying to eat healthier, and trying to get away from the typical salad place, it isn't an easy task. This place gives you so many choices for meats and sauces, it will take a while for me to try them all. I got the satay chicken over mixed veggies. (Salad'ish) i liked it. In addition I added the pickled cucumber, Daikon and carrots, purple cabbage and a carmalized egg. It was fresh and delicious. I also added the pepper oil from the condiments... Asian style chipotle! The ingredients they use are very fresh and flavorful. I've been here a few times and always gotten the same thing: white rice chasu pork bowl with miso sauce. Holy cow is it good! The pork is savory and juicy and that miso sauce is terrific. My only gripe is it sometimes takes a bit longer to get your food due to them grilling the pork. If you're in a rush, bulgogi might be a better option. Overall though, it's a really great concept and is executed very well. read more

Been here twice, one for the soft opening and one after they officially opened. You guys have a good product in terms of the food but ordering is very slow/clumsy. I understand you guys are new so you're working things out. I ordered noodles the second time, which wasn't available, and just a lettuce bowl the first time. The cold vermicelli could probably be made in advance so that was disappointing that it wasn't ready. Ordering should be on an assembly line type flow and the proteins should be ready, although I know where you're trying to get at with cooking it on an order basis. Its just too slow. Your pickling on the vegetables are great. 5/5 on food, 2/5 on execution. Would give 3.5 if I could. read more

Boyfriend and I stopped in for a quick bite of lunch in the area. The concept is like a build-your-own-bowl sort of deal, with healthier and vegetarian options to boot. We chose the Charsu BBQ pork option with lo mein for a bowl, with the BBQ pork baos, gobo chips, and house special wings. We had an opportunity to briefly chat with the owner - always a nice sight to see an owner invested in their establishment, especially since it's fairly new (opened about three months ago), and he was hopeful that we'd enjoy our meal. Our food took a little longer to arrive than I'd like, but at least my wings arrived hot and my gobo chips crispy. Those were our favorite items. The chips went well with the garlic aioli, and the wings were coated in a sweet, garlicky soy sauce without being soggy. The bowl itself we thought was kind of bland. The chasu sauce did not offer much flavor, but it could be that we loaded our bowl with lots of veggies and add-ins. The chasu itself isn't quite like the traditional charsiu that we were used to, which is sweet and flavored with the Chinese blend of spices. Instead, the chasu here is sweet and tastes kind of mild. The meat is lean and soft, but the flavor is not much to write home about. Suffice to say that our pork baos were also just so-so. The bao itself is fried, so in tandem with the sweetness of the bao, it tastes almost like a donut. Along with the pickled daikon and carrots and cucumbers, it kind of reminded me of a banh mi. But I'm not sure if frying the bao really did much to help the dish. Regardless, we really hope this place succeeds! This place is practically built for me and my SO. As people that love all kinds of Asian cuisine, the options available at Chasu cater to whatever mood we're in, as they have elements of Thai, Korean, Chinese, and Japanese food. My personal favorite protein is the satay. It has great flavor and isn't dry at all. The pork is a favorite of my SO. The bowls are filling and satisfying without feeling too heavy. I live around a lot of Chinese restaurants and most do about average in Plano. Overall, you never know what you are going to get when you venture into a new place. I saw the reviews and thought I would give it a try. If Yelp had 6 stars, I would give Chasu that in my rating. This place is amazing; very affordable and a ridiculous value for the money. Try the Pork Chasu Bowl, off the chain. It was filling and the ingredients were very creative, the pork was cooked to perfection. My wife and kids got the chicken fried rice which was topped with a breaded chicken breast, amazing. I also got a Beef Nori Wrap, great. This will be my go to for healthy, filling Asian Fusion. Love the idea, but having eaten there, I now think I was swayed too much by "Yelp Elite" "soft opening" reviews....overall, average and I don't expect to return. Pros: 1) Friendly though undertrained staff. 2) Food seems fresh. 3) Fresh, contemporary ambience Cons: 1) very, very bland food. chasu sauce -- like watery, mildly sweet teriyaki without much flavor of any sort BBQ pork -- not very BBQ and somewhat fatty, but OK veggie blend - alternative base if you don't want rice -- it's romaine, period. "street" corn -- just plain ol' corn kernels. No visible seasoning or other ingredients whatsoever. lightly pickled veggies -- all OK. Kimchi mild, OK. coke zero -- odd flavor, but definitely was diet. not sure what was up with that. gobo chips -- fried strips of Japanese burdock -- +1 crunchy, but unpleasant aftertaste. I think this must be why they come with a strong garlic mayo dip. 2) sticky tables and seating with bits of food on tables AND seats, even though they just opened for the day. Really just don't understand how they let this happen. I had to scrub large, stubborn sticky spots off before sitting and putting our drinks on the table. 3) neither chicken nor cold rice noodles were ready when they opened. Had to wait.
