This Uyghur restaurant is an absolute gem! Even though we only ordered takeout, the woman working was incredibly helpful - walking us through the menu, explaining each dish, and checking our spice tolerance. You can tell she genuinely cares about sharing her culture and cuisine. The space itself is lovely, with thoughtful decor and relaxing music that creates a welcoming atmosphere without being too sleepy. It's clear that pride in heritage and culture shines through in every detail. We ordered a little bit of everything - Uyghur laghman, korma chop, Big Plate Chicken, lamb skewers, lamb samsa, and ayran - and every single item exceeded expectations. The lamb skewers were tender and flavorful, but the lamb samsa were the moment we realized we were in for something truly special. They were unbelievably delicious: crisp pastry, deeply seasoned filling, and so aromatic that you don't want the bite to end. Don't let the menu descriptions fool you into thinking the noodle dishes are similar. They might read like variations on meat and noodles, but in reality each one is completely distinct and packed with its own personality. The Big Plate Chicken comes with the widest, springiest noodles and carries the most heat. The korma chop features wonderfully chewy noodles with a medium kick. And the Uyghur laghman (hand-pulled, by the way) has the thinnest noodles and, in my opinion, the best texture of all. Every dish is hearty, rich, vibrant, and so full of flavor that I can't possibly do them justice in words. You simply have to try them yourself. Even the ayran stood out. I've had it many times before, but this one was exceptional - perfectly salty in a way that enhances the tangy, yogurt-like flavor instead of overpowering it. Our total came to $80, but considering we intentionally ordered a wide spread, it works out to about $20 - 30 per person - an amazing deal for food this thoughtful and delicious. Highly, highly recommended. This place is something special, and perfect for anyone looking to experience authentic Uyghur cuisine!

First experience of trying Uyghur food. Ordered the gosh naan, lamb kabob and korma chop. All the food was really tasty. Loved the stuff meat with the flaky pastry of the gosh naan. The lamb kabob was not over cooked or gamey tasting. The noodles were the star of the meal. The noodles were nicely seasoned and had a good bouncey chew. Definitely coming back again

RUN DONT WALK, this place is amazing. This was hands down the best lamb I have ever had in my life. The Lamb Skewers are worth getting, I will definitely be back. The Laghman was wonderfully spiced, not too spicy but enough to be feeling it by the end of the meal. The noodles were extremely thick, and bouncy with a lot of chew. I had some of the Chocolate Honey cake as well and I was not disappointed at all, it paired great with a warm cup of their Green tea. The service was impeccable as well as a very comforting cozy seating area. This is a family owned and operated restaurant and the quality is absolutely top notch. I will be back for more lamb very soon, thank you so much.

I love trying new cuisines, and DFW does not disappoint! I've never had Uyghur food before, and was delighted to find Turan Uyghur Kitchen. The restaurant is small, and may be a bit difficult if you have more than 8 people! The men and women working here are very kind, but service is slow. You will need to flag them down if you want to order anything or get additional dishes/utensil/water, etc. The food came out quickly. Between the 2 of us, we ordered dumplings (1 order has 15 dumplings), and a chicken plate. There was more than enough food. I really liked the chicken plate!! It had the best amount of flavor! The chicken and potatoes were very soft and tender. I did not enjoy the dumplings as much. I felt like the flavor wasn't as powerful, and the meat tasted very gamey.

Small little mom and pop restaurant with warm service. We ordered lamb skewers and the big plate chicken. The lamb skewers were tender and seasoned perfectly and came out hot. The big plate chicken we mistakenly assumed we could finish between two people, but I definitely recommend at least sharing amongst 3 people. The noodles were chewy and al dente, and the potatoes were super flavorful. Would love to return and try more items.

This was our first time trying this restaurant, and it did not disappoint! Very hearty, flavorful food and the service was top notch. We look forward to returning and trying some of the other dishes!!

This was my first time trying Uyghur food and I was definitely pleasantly surprised! I loved the combination of middle eastern flavors and chinese cuisine. We ordered the medium big plate chicken which was more than enough for 2 people, and the uyghur naan. The naan was a bit more bready and dense than the naans that i'm used to, but the addition of the rose water syrup made it much more enjoyable for me. The place itself is quite small but we didnt have trouble finding table on a friday evening. protip: you get a small discount if you pay in cash Overall, looking forward to come back to this establishment and try out other dishes!

Friendly service at this little family restaurant. Unfortunately they were sold out of several dishes on this evening. I had the Lamb Skewers and these lived up to their well earned reputation here on Yelp. The lamb cubes were not too dry and were marinated in some sort of a spicy coriander or cumin mix. Will repeat and try some other dishes!

The food was delicious. We split 3 plates and everything was amazing. They also gave us black tea as well

Been wanting to try this place for a while now. They're located in the zTao plaza between the Cathay Bank and BBQ Chicken. I came in around 2 pm and it was pretty busy despite being past lunchtime. I was here mainly for the big plate chicken, but we also ordered some samsa, lamb skewers, lamb shank polow, and yogurt for dessert. I'd wanted the Turan cake too but they only had Honey cake today. The service was great. The wait staff visited each table every so often to check up on them. The food came out fairly quickly. I think I spent a total of 40 minutes in the restaurant including ordering, waiting, taking pics, writing this review, and eating. The space looks small from the outside. They have about 7 tables or so. Most of them seat 4 and a couple seat 5-6. Pay at the cashier when you're done eating. And now the food... The samsa was great. It's like a lamb meat bun with a crispy exterior. The meat was juicy and flavorful with a little fat and some tendon. It was perfect as a small appetizer before the main course. The lamb shank polow was pretty good too. The lamb meat basically fell off the bone when I went to cut it up. The rice was flavorful. The raisins added just a bit of sweetness to prevent the meat from being too overpowering. The lamb skewers were super tender, very spicy, piping hot, and juicy with some tendon. Be careful - the metal part of the skewers are hot when they first come out. You're welcome to eat off of the skewers but if you're worried about looking uncivilized or don't want to struggle with ripping the meat off the skewers with your teeth then I recommend pushing the meat off with a chopstick and onto your plate. The big plate chicken was great too. The chicken was warm, spicy, and tender. The potato was soaked with flavor. The bell peppers were fresh and tasted like they were blanched before being tossed in at the end. The noodles were soaked in the broth, and were spicy and chewy. Be careful picking up the noodles - they are very likely to splash you or the person sitting across from you. If I had to rank the ingredients of this dish in order of deliciousness, then it'd be potato, noodles, chicken, bell peppers. The big plate chicken comes in 3 sizes - small, medium, and large. Small is enough for 1 person. Medium is for 2 grown men. I assume large is probably for 3-4 people. And last is the yogurt - the yogurt was cool. It came with a splash of crunchy diced pistachio. It worked out as a great palate cleanser after the spicy meal. One thing I noticed was that the spicy foods got spicier and a bit greasier after cooling down a bit. So eat it while it's hot. Or let it cool down if the initial spicy level isn't enough for you.

Polow Sliced With Lamb Shank! (09/16/23)

Two families from Xinjiang opened this comfy restaurant with their family's recipes. Welcoming upon entering. Straightforward setting. Enticing is their menu. On this first visit, tantilizing and very tasty was their "Polow", rice braised with carrots and lamb with, imo, the 'lamb shank' as its side. And, their inviting and interestingly textured homemade with 3-hrs of layering not-too-sweet "Honey Cake"! I can hardly wait to come back to this gem with others in trying their hand-pulled noodles and stews! CHEERS!

This restaurant popped up one day as a Yelp suggestion and it did not disappoint. I am honestly not sure how long it has been here, but after today's visit, it is certain to be added to our list of rotations. I had previously browsed the Menu online and Mom and I had already decided to order the Cucumber Salad and Big Plate Chicken(medium-sized order) to share. We also ordered their Signature Walnut Honey Yoghurt for Dessert. We made an 11:15AM Reservation through Google since it was our first time here and I was not sure how busy it would be during that time. You order from the Menu and pay the bill after you eat. Received with a welcoming vibe and cultural and delightful background music as soon as we entered. Abdullah graciously greeted us and told us to sit wherever we liked. It is a Husband/Wife (didn't get her name) Team - making everything hot, fresh, and from scratch - so we knew we were in for a treat. I don't believe ambiance is the focal point of the dining experience here; rather, it is the Five Star Quality Food and Service. I will gladly support a Family Business over a chain or franchise. The Cucumber Salad was crunchy, zesty, perfectly spicy, and was the ideal accompaniment to the Big Plate Chicken. The Big Plate Chicken had a bed of Chewy, Steamy Noodles, simmered with Bone-In Chicken, Potatoes, Braised Carrots, Red Peppers, and Dried Red Chilies. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender and so flavorful. It was also to our preferred spice level - not too spicy and not at all bland. The Signature Yoghurt had a texture resembling that of a cross between Cream Cheese and Greek Yoghurt and a depth of flavor that contrasted very well with the Honey and Walnut. Perfect after a meal! All three were truly excellent, noteworthy, standout dishes and we would order them again. However, on our next visit, we shall consider others on the Menu. We plan to return!

Actually my friend brought it with them to their house and made me try it. So I came and got a burger today, the mushroom and Swiss burger. The burger was ok. It wasn't love at first bite, however the flavor was what was expected. The party was a little thin, but the meat was good and cooked well on the grill. The flavor was nice. I am definitely going to come back and try some other items on the menu and get the chicken again. I just read another review. I ordered the double cheeseburger, and the patties were so thick that I had to remove one just to enjoy it; it was okay after that, but nothing particularly special stood out about the burgers. The atmosphere wasn't great either. The staff didn't seem friendly or welcoming; no greeting when we came in, and ordering felt awkward. On top of that, the place had a bad smell, which made it feel a little dirty. We originally planned to eat inside but ended up ordering to go because of this. The saving grace was the loaded fries OMG, so good! Honestly, I'd come back just for those. Maybe it was an off day, because I feel like this spot has potential to be good, so we might give it another chance in the future.

Well luckily I've been inside their shiny marble halls enough time to pass my final verdict. For one, it seems like staff turnover is a concern here, as I often see new staff up front who are unfamiliar with their own menu or promotions while the food gives me an idea of what's going in the back. Which is to say, nothing has ever been consistently good here and there's been many occasions of food that's poorly seasoned, undercooked or simply spoiled. I know they have the ability to do better but is it worth the suffering for the opportunity? My answer is NO. For the markedly above average cost and inconsistent leaning poor quality, this isn't the local institution I would personally advise you to support. (Just FYI: I have had their dinner then brunch buffet multiple times, dined in, taken out and separately ordered delivery through a 3rd party app. I really had high hopes!)

I am familiar with Indian food so most of the names are recognizable, but the delicious differences are not to be missed! We ordered the lunch special which was $14.99 for 2 meats (one grilled and one in sauce), rice, a small salad of onions and lettuce, and dessert. I believe they specialize in grilled meats, cause the flavor was fantastic! The picture showed rice pudding for dessert but they came out with gulab jamen instead. I was disappointed at first but dang if that wasn't the best version of this I have ever had. I wanted a vegetable also so for the same price of $14.99 I got palak paneer and naan, which was a more earthy, less milky version as well. Naan was also best in class. I don't always love naan cause it can be rubbery. This was excellent. Soft and pillowy. It was so much food that we took it home and had a whole other meal. What a value for $14.99 each! The space is beautiful and though the clientele seems to be mostly Pakistani, they are welcoming to all. Service was a touch slow, but not painful. We still got in and out during our lunch break. I honestly think they just need more customers and so I want everyone to know that it was a new experience for me and I was super happy with the food. Welcome to the neighborhood Grand Tandoori!
