I wish I could give less than one star as this was the absolute worst dining experience of my life. The manager told us it took over 45 minutes for half of a BLT because we wanted the bread toasted. One of our most favorite places to have lunch with a family. Home made food, good service. We love the soup in a bread bowl, and the quiches. The Victorian ice tea is also delicious. There is also a cute antique shop upstairs we like to check out every now and then. read more

I love this place! Every time I come into town to visit my parents, I make a request to eat here. I love the atmosphere -- vintage with a fun twist -- and the food. I love the food. There are some unique little restaurants in our area that provide a special atmosphere and great food. This is one of them. It is off the beaten path but well worth seeking. They have outstanding soups and sandwiches, along with a wonderful staff and comfortable, homey, unique dining areas. It should be on everyone's list of cool places to have lunch. read more

Charming spot off the beaten path that we found thanks to Yelp. "Hearty" doesn't begin to describe their soups (we enjoyed the autumn bisque and chicken & stuffing soups). Sandwiches are rich and a half sandwich with soup is plenty. We tried the meatloaf sandwich and chicken Marsala sandwich on the recommendation of our charming server and were not disappointed. Lots of cobblers for dessert but were too full to try one. Decorated with antique plates and enamel tables like my grandma used to have. Chat-a-Wyle (that's what the sign says) is known for its soups. But I personally can't speak for how they are because I've never tried one of them. I want one of those big luscious sandwiches and don't want to settle for half!! My favorite is the chicken marsala sandwich with garlic mayo. Oh yum. But, I once had a stuffed meatloaf sandwich that was even better. I have yet to see it on the menu again and I have dreams about that sandwich. Service can either be a bit too hover-y or at the other extreme of "where is she?" The place is always crowded and at times I've felt a bit rushed to hurry along and get out. read more

I love having lunch at Chat-a-Whyle. Everything I've ordered has been delicious - they have a great selection of salads, soups, and sandwiches. This is my favorite little lunch place. I go here every chance I get and the food is always amazing. When I can't go there to eat I get take out and it's always ready when I get there. I love the autumn bisque soup and the chicken salad. Also they have cheese fondue! The salads are great and come with watermelon in them. I'm really giving zero stars as this was the worst customer service I ever had. It took two hours to be served some soup and half of a sandwich. When we asked why other customers received their food first, our waitress, who also happens to be the manager/owner, was incredibly rude to us and explained that the hold up was because they were toasting focaccia bread, which we never ordered. It was my first time and last time there, as I will never give that miserable woman a dime again. read more

Just had lunch at this adorable restaurant. From the first bite to the last the food was delicious!! Top shelf homestyle cooking. I had the turkey and vegetable soup and it tasted like Thanksgiving - so good! I went for the first time today because there was a flamenco show and I am certainly not coming back no matter what show they host. May be it was bad luck or any other unknown reason but our breakfast was atrocious. I order the hash-brown casserole: it was a dry flavorless uneatable block of who knows what on a plate. For my daughter, I ordered the two eggs, home fries, toasts and ham breakfast: the potatoes were not fresh, they tasted rotten, the ham was hard and cold, and we could not even touch the eggs because they smelled so strongly. We left the food on the plates almost untouched and the very little I ate made me sick. Since my experience was so radically different from the rest of the reviewing costumers I really wonder what could have gone so wrong. May be the fact that I speak English with an accent did not help. This is a very white american place. Luckily, the flamenco performance was very enjoyable. read more

What I really love about Chat a Wyle is that it could easily be transported to my favorite city in the US: New Orleans. Not because it's a Cajun restaurant, or anything like that. But because the people there really take care of you in a genuine way. And because the food is delicious like home, only you could never actually make food at home that tastes this good, and uses ingredients like they do. It's true comfort, all around. And fun, and unique, and familiar. The best places in my favorite city have these qualities, and Chat-a-Wyle has them, too. read more

obviously Janet & Rebecca who gave the one star each were together with the same complaint. Being in the restaurant business all my life, I know that "rude" is very much a perception and not a fact. I have been to Chat a Wyle many, many times over the past decade and have never seen an anyone be rude. in all of my experiences I have received wonderful food, amazing attentiveness, and a relaxing feeling of comfort. I love this place and I gotta have it cuz I cannot live without the sautéed spinich sandwich! The daily soups are amazing and fun as well, such as the lasagna soup, turkey dinner soup, stuffed cabbage soup etc... I could go on and on, but you will have to just go in and experience it for yourself! read more

Ok, first and foremost the food is fantastic, no complaints whatsoever. I had the portabella sandwich with cream of brocoli, my sister had a chicken Marsala sandwich nd salad. The sandwiches were both to dye for, the soup was super creamy and cheesy, and the salad was absolutely amazing with their garlic dressing. We love garlic and everything on their menu seems to be heavy on the garlic, just the way we like it. My only problem was the service. I'm not quite sure what to make of it. A very pleasant hostess seated us and got our drinks, then our (assumed) petit blond waitress rattled of the specials at warp speed, and took our order. Another waitress then brought us our food, the hostess came and checked on us and filled our ice teas(which are a So great). Another waitress cleaned the table and asked about dessert, we were stuffed but they do look scrumptious. And then our order taker came with our check. We were surely attended to, just not by our waitress. We left a decent tip, I'm assuming they pool their tips together there. read more
