We went to this restaurant the other day and it was very good...hubby LOVED it! He had a shrimp fried rice and I had a chicken salad with a homemade honey mustard dressing that was to die for and a small side of rice (I love rice) and it was prepared perfectly. You'd be surprised at the Asian restaurants we've gone to and even the rice was bad. We were happy to see that the place was amazingly clean from the dining area, kitchen (I peeked as I walked by) to even the restroom. The server, Jen (I think was her name) was fantastic! She made sure we had everything we needed and checked back with us several times but didn't annoy us with it either. We were very pleased and will be going there when we want Asian food! What a pleasant surprise. I ate here with a friend today for an early dinner. To start, the restaurant is very clean and of perfect size: not too small and not large. The service is exceptionally friendly and efficient. The menu is very well put together and the variety is tremendous. What I really liked is that I am not someone who tolerates spicy very well, but I do like Thai food. I usually struggle because restaurants always add a little bit of something that makes it spicy even though it is considered very mild to not spicy. This restaurant did exactly the opposite which is what I love: they can go very spicy, but they prepared my meal so that it was not at all spicy and I greatly enjoyed it. The shrimp fresh spring rolls with peanut sauce were lovely. We had the wonton soup which was so delicious and we completely gobbled it up. I then had their glass noodles with chicken and spinach in a lovely broth that was absolutely fabulous and my friend had a shrimp and glass noodle dish in a clay pot that was delicious! We did take two desserts to go: the coconut rice with custard and it is lovely. The Thai iced tea is phenomenal. Total five stars. Totally going back. Highly recommended. read more

This was a complete surprise. The place is intimate and the crew was only 3, but they were non-stop action. You can see the chef's at work while you wait. Love the fact you can smell what is being prepared in the kitchen. A little surprised to see 2 (for lack of a more appropriate description) white guys preparing the meals. What a find! One of the best Thai peanut sauces for the chicken satay, I have enjoyed since being in Thailand. The Pad Ped with shrimp, combining curry paste, bell peppers, thai sweet basil and lime leaves made my taste buds just so happy. I moved here a few months ago and drive by this place often and say to myself I would like to try some day , well that someday came today I had two friends drive up from Las Vegas to have dinner so we all met there and what a lovely surprise and very delicious!!! We drive by this place several time a day and seldom notice it. It's just off the main highway on the old frontage road. Since it was our anniversary we thought we'd give this place a try. Wow! Are little town isn't exactly known for top restaurants, but Chatthai Bistro blows away any Tai restaurant in Vegas. It was a slow Sunday and the chef greeted us. I definitely recommend the Pad Thai. Gai Satay appetizers were great too. Since it was our anniversary, the chef said dessert was on him. Literally the WORST thai food I have eaten. Ordered some pretty basic items: Chicken Pad Thai (classic, generally can't go wrong) and Chicken skewers. First off, chicken pad thai was completely flavorless, bland, and down right horrible. Even my dog wouldn't eat it and that is saying something. Hardly any chicken in the 'Chicken Pad Thai'. Secondly, the chicken skewers were rubbery and looked horrible (not to mention the dried out, awful taste). Also, ordered a side of sticky rice. It was a hardened clump in a small ziplock baggie. Crunchy and terrible. Just terrible. Lastly, the skewers come with a small (small is a generous word) cucumber salad. The cucumbers were soggy and rancid. I cannot believe I paid for this food which was promptly thrown out. If I hadn't ordered to go, I would have demanded my money back. I will NEVER eat there again nor recommend to anyone. How it has such good reviews is honestly mind-boggling..... Absolute disaster. read more

We went here because of the great reviews but I was disappointed with my Cashew Chicken. First it came without any cashews so I was not sure if I received the right dish. It took a few mins to get the waitresses attention and then get some cashews added. I like my food hot but it had lost a bit of its heat. The food had a decent spice level and a little extra sauce which I like. My main issue with the dish was that all of the chicken was scraps of dark meat no bigger than my thumbnail. There was not a single piece of white meat in the whole dish which made it feel cheap and second rate. I've had Cashew Chicken many time in Thailand and the scrappy dark meat is common when you pay $1 on the street, but in restaurants you get good quality white meat. My girlfriend had a better experience with her Pad Thai and house cocktail but she is not writing the review. The hostess\waitress tried very hard and I can't fault her but food is first, service second. read more

We were traveling on our way through to California and stopped here for lunch. We had the Fresh Spring Rolls, Tom Kah soup, and a Pad Thai, all were superb. Phenomenal. PHENOMENAL! Can I say it any clearer? Chatthai is the only place in Pahrump we can count on to always have quality food (or really, to have quality food at all). Their flavors are complex, consistent, and all ingredients are fresh. As the chef/owner pointed out, there is no freezer in the restaurant. His mother helps him cook, and dishes come straight from Thailand. You can pick a spiciness level 1-10, and I find myself maxing out at about 5 or 6, despite being what I believe to be very spicy-tolerant. Their menu is extensive and keeps you entertained with new choices every visit, but no dish is given less scrutiny than the next. Clearly this is the owner's baby, and his dedication/passion shows. Chatthai is relatively new (a few months old) to the area, and opened the same week as another Thai restaurant close by, but they are clearly blowing the other place out of the water despite the other's fancy boba tea machine. Chatthai is steadily gaining recognition and business as people awaken to the new restaurant by Dominos. This shouldn't even make it into this review because it doesn't even influence my opinion on the restaurant, but is more of an FYI to the owner: servers are a little lacking, in the personality department. Service/food output is fast, but a little awkward. The owner's brother is a waiter there, and he clearly has no restaurant experience or much natural charisma. In the end, he gets the job done, but is very awkward in doing so... sort of narrates his actions ("I'm going to fill your water glass," "I will take away this plate," etc) and not very confident in his actions. I've seen others at neighboring tables snicker at him or get inpatient with his awkwardness, so I hope it doesn't influence their opinion of the restaurant. I heard one table ask him what he recommended and he said, "um, what do you mean?" and rambled on about something and had her rephrase the question, to which she said, "I'm just asking what you like here." Then she asked if such-and-such dish was good, to which he replied, "um, yeah, it's good I guess," while looking around nervously. Kelly, the owner's sister-in-law, on the other hand, was very overwhelming and described everything on the menu like we didn't know what a "starter" was. Every dish is described in English, so there's no reason to really describe all the different types unless there is a question. HOWEVER, none of this has ever stopped or given us hesitance to go there. We just know to work with it. It's all about the food in the end, and the owner often comes out from the kitchen (which is visible through glass, so a good sign on kitchen cleanliness/order) to talk with you and make up for any server awkwardness. :) A+++ place. read more

Excellent food, loved the freshness of everything we ordered from the Pad Thai to the hand squeezed lemonade. If you are in a hurry this isn't the place to come. Because the whole crew is involved in the service and meal we had to wait for our order to be taken, which was about 35 minutes. But we enjoyed the food when it finally arrived. This is a restaurant worth supporting. The food is fresh, simply but superbly prepared. We started with the Sai Glog which is prepared fresh, not sweet, not sour. Just deliciously tasty. Our salad was the suer rong hai or crying tiger, grilled rare rib eye served with lettuce, fresh cabbage and a spicy chili sauce. Went there today (Nov 4) for lunch. The place was kind of empty when we arrive at 12:15 so I wondered if the food was going to be good. The waitress was very friendly and very helpful. I love Thai food and every time I go to a new Thai place I order the Red curry. It was fantastic! As good as I've ever had and I have Thai food quite often! The food and service were so excellent that I was inspired to write my first yelp review. Today they were short-staffed so the owner was waiting and bussing tables while also working in the kitchen. He never dropped the ball on orders or service and still somehow managed to chat with customers and ensure that their orders were customized to fit their needs, accommodating shellfish allergies and delicate palettes alike! The owner, a veteran of the US Navy (thank you for your service!), is as friendly as he is knowledgeable, always with a touch of humor. As for the food, I travel a lot and rarely do I find green curry as good as at Chatthai. The fresh spring rolls were also tasty but I wish I would've paid the a little extra for the shrimp. I can't recommend this spot enough and hope to visit again the next time I make it to Pahrump! read more
