Banh Mi, Boba Teas and Pho! All under one roof! It is a dream come true to have Pho and Banh Mi at the same place. I have not tried the Pho here, but the Banh Mi Thit Nuong was very tasty. The Boba Tea was very good too. I tried the Durian. The proprietor was hesitant, and made me smell the Durian before he would make it for me. Durian is not for the faint of heart..... The owner and his wife were very nice. They run a very clean little shop here. I would suggest it to anyone. If the Pho is as good as the Banh Mi, I will be bumping it up to 5 stars. read more

So I went to Chau's for the first time today. It's pretty much a hole in the wall, but clean. The man who rang me up also prepped my drinks (Thai Milk Tea w/boba) and the fried egg rolls. The milk tea itself was on point... Blended just like they do in SD. The boba, however, was way too soft that it lacked the gummy texture. The drink was in a large container and was only $3.50 though! That's a plus! The rolls were already pre-fried and waiting in a warmer (I don't like that). The egg rolls were NOT crispy and were over priced at $1/egg roll!! At least Pho9 offers fresh and tasty rolls! The service was quick and courteous. I'll be going back for the Thai milk tea and boba just to get my fix, but definitely not the rolls. read more

Overpriced boba tea with ton of sugar and weird after taste. I won't be back for boba tea. BBQ pull pork banh mi (banh mi xa xiu?) is weirdly good though. Moved to Texas and this is the best pho place around the area we moved to. There are maybe about 4 other pho places near and they don't compare to this one. Pho is a Vietnamese noodle soup dish filled with sliced beef, bean sprouts and cilantro i believe. It's delicious and they give you a good amount for a reasonable price. Chau's biggest selling point for me is their wall wide selection of smoothies and teas that you can request little chewy balls in at the bottom. They don't affect flavor unless you get the mango juice filled ones, its just a nice sweet accessory to chew on with your cookies and cream or what have you. True hole in the wall gem. I love this little restaurant! The people there are so friendly! You walk in and they automatically greet you. You feel so welcomed not even a second of being in their. Fantastic Vietnamese food and smoothies!!! My husband and I have been coming here at least once a week since about a month or two after they opened. We tried other Vietnamese places in the area before we found this one and none compare to Chau's. THE FOOD: -The sandwiches (bánh mì) are so delicious and priced at $3.50. There are a few different meat choices (try the grilled pork). They are all on toasted french baguette with Vietnamese mayo, shredded carrots, cucumber, cilantro, and jalapeño (optional). -My husband's favorite thing is the dry noodles with grilled pork and egg rolls. It's a bowl of vermicelli (rice noodles) with the oh so yummy grilled pork and the perfect mix of veggies like cucumber, carrot, romaine lettuce, basil, cilantro, and bean sprouts topped with sliced Vietnamese egg rolls and peanuts. Pour the sauce on and it is the best Bún tht nng I've had. This costs about $7.50 and is super filling. -The pho (beef and noodle soup) is fantastic if you're in the mood for soup! -The spring rolls (rice paper, not fried) are delicious too! THE SMOOTHIES: -My favorite is the Durian and from what I understand I'm one of the only people who ever orders it. You either love it or hate it. I love it, my husband hates it (if I drink it in the car he keeps the windows down). The fruit itself, known as "stinky fruit", has spikes on the outside and lets off a very pungent sulfur smell to deter predators. It tastes nothing like it smells though so if you're adventurous give it a try. It's also very healthy. -The mango smoothie is my husband's fav as well as the chocolate-almond (yum). ----The taro is made from a purple root vegetable and tastes like cake to me (really good). THE ATMOSPHERE: Chau's is a clean, quiet, well decorated bistro-style cafe owned by a very friendly, hardworking family. Awesome place! I went to try the lechon kawali but they only serve their Filipino food as catering pans. I asked the lady how will I know how it tastes if I can't taste it? She said I would have to buy a pan, no way jose! So I had the grilled chicken bahn mi and combo Pho. Sandwich was good but no pickled veggies that I'm used to in bahn mi, but the bread was good!
