Came in on a Monday night, had great service! My husband and I ordered a platter for two, we brought two full boxes of food home with us. The shared salad alone would have fed four people easily. The car and the steak were delicious! The chicken was a little on the dry side, but it was well seasoned. Luckily, they offer a lot of sauce options. You can get away with a dry chicken when you serve it with a garlic sauce that is that good! Our waitress was attentive, they have some special drink options and several beers on tap. Rumors is a casually comfortable restaurant and bar that specializes in Mediterranean cuisine but also has American options. The prices are reasonable and the portions are extremely generous. No complaints about the service either; our server was subdued but efficient and pleasant. I ordered the Chicken Shwarma Sandwich- which comes wrapped in foil, cut in half, in pita bread. I also ordered a side of rice that came with a zesty side of tomato sauce. It was delicious and I took home half, pictured in the photo below. Others at our table ordered salads and they looked amazing with huge portions. Another person ordered a steak entree and I can't begin to tell you how much meat was on the plate- except I believe it didn't all fit on the plate. My retirement group stopped for our annual get together. There were eighteen of us with one waitress. She did a nice job under that circumstances for the number of us. Drink order were taken and when drinks came she took our dinner choices. When our orders started to come some of us had to wait way too long. Frankly half of us walked away disappointed. Some complained of their food was too salty and other said their steaks were the worst steaks they ever had. That is not our waitress fault but I told them it was not the place to order a steak. With half of our group walked away dissatisfied l truly believe we won't be back. Thats definitely is disappointing because we have always enjoyed Rumors. read more

Rumors is a fascinating restaurant. It's in one of the busiest parts of town, and while often packed, it's completely missable driving by. We've been many times in the past, and like many of the other reviews point out, it was the terrible service that kept us from returning. We popped in today, after taking a decade-long break, and were pleasantly surprised by the food. It was delicious, and my zatar bread, served with sour cream and a couple of scrambled eggs, provided me with one of the most interesting breakfasts I've had in recent memory. The menu has a lot of variety. It's a relaxing place to eat. I've been here a few times this year and I am always blown away with the huge portions! Enough for a few meals :) Great that omelets are available at lunch too, which was easy for my friend with food restrictions. read more

Pros: Nice seating and atmosphere. There is a bar but nothing that would disrupt a nice family meal. Although, I couldn't figure out where you go if you have a hard time getting up steps. Food is decent with large portions, they've said it's the best in Toledo for Mediterranean; not true. They do have a lot of options depending on what you're craving which is nice. Service has never disappointed. Cons: No option for smaller portions, have to pay the price for the larger. Everything adds up, even the boxes and credit card usage gets charged. Be prepared for a hefty bill. My Shawarma wrap was stuck to my shawarma, if I have to pay so much for my meal it shouldn't be getting stuck to cheap wrapping (also extremely messy). read more

Took my buddy to breakfast here last weekend. We've been here a number of times in the past, but this is the first time back in months. A few things... The portions are huge. Well, the potatoes are, anyway. They're just too much for any normal person, and they're just sliced, unpeeled potatoes cooked on the flat top. Nothing special whatsoever. Undercooked, bland potatoes. Everything else was just OK too. Breakfast for 2 was somewhere in the mid $30.00 range (not including tip). My breakfast consisted of 2 eggs, sausage, rye toast and that mountain of exceedingly mediocre potatoes. My buddy had an omelet and a side order of fried potatoes (omelets don't come with anything but toast). Not really worth the money. I wish places would get it that nobody needs 3 pounds of potatoes per person. The prices and portions could be adjusted to something a little more "normal" and then everyone would be happy. Maybe they could at least let their customers order a "normal size" portion for less money. Their food costs, labor costs, food waste would all go down. Their customers could save some money and maybe their sales would increase too! Anyway, not a bad place, but there are better decisions for sure. read more

Not great, not enough staff. Most open tables were dirty. 10+ minutes to be greeted after sitting down. On my entree I asked for gyro meat, instead of chicken. Upon delivery Waitress recognized it, asked if it was ok. I asked for the gyro meat which was delivered after a bit. The extra charge for side of gyro (in addition to chicken) was on the bill. My fiancé knows I love baklava cheesecake. So he ordered some from here...it is NOT baklava cheesecake. Traditional baklava cheesecake has a baklava crust, pistachio, and honey. This didn't have any of it. It literally was just whipped cheesecake with a graham crumble at the bottom and then some walnuts on top. The food is great with very large portions for the price, the service is great, especially considering as a fellow local business owner it's hard to come by hood help these days. Also I've been coming here since I was a kid and the consistency of the family recipes are always on par. The ambiance is that of a clean family restaurant and this place is a great staple in the Toledo area for American and Lebanese food. We will always support this great family business! Most disgusting food ever... I order the beef tips and they were so ugly and scary looking. The taste was even worse. I could barely eat it and after a few bites I would have rather gone hungry. We also got the chicken breast, which my partner thought was good until he got home and had diarrhea... Literally the most disgusting food ever and service sucked. Price was insane for how disgusting it was. Only good part was our salad, which wasn't anything special but was edible. I'd rather eat any fast food than eat here. Way better use of time, money, and stomach health. Don't eat here if you have tastebuds. read more

A lot of food at a reasonable price and a fairly diverse menu. It is also not super loud.

The food is excellent! We absolutely love the gyros and Greek salads. The fill up fast for dinner, get there early. The decor isn't inviting, don't let that discourage you. Some staff could be friendlier and some are wonderful. I highly recommend this place to try when in Toledo. read more

While the food here is good, the service really takes away from what would be a great experience. S.L.O.W! Absolutely slower than cold molasses. Make sure you don't need anything extra either - lemons for water, refills, straws... you'll never see them even if you ask multiple times. The Orange juice was good. My omlets was considered the "healthy" omlet and the waitree said maybe that's why it wasn't seasoned well. The chicken was bland and it was a little runny. I wouldn't get it again. My companion enjoyed the veggie omlet said it was well seasoned. I'm sure the bacon and ham added extra flavor. Amazing food... Lebanese/Levant cuisine with plenty of American dishes to choose from (menu is huge). I can't speak to the Middle Eastern items on the menu, but the Greek food is, plainly and simply, mediocre. I will say this, however: Even though the (Greek) food is not the best tasting in town, in terms of quantity, I can't think of any similar place where you get more bang for your buck. The prices are low, and the portions are huge. Huge! DAMNED HUGE! The gyro salad is actually very good, humongous, and costs about 10 bucks. It, along with a beer, will almost certainly fill your ass up. Even though I was expecting large portion sizes, when my "Greek Trio" (which is priced like an appetizer) came out, I reacted the same way I did when I saw Big Zeus (see my first review). It's easily a meal for two, or maybe three. Looking for a "light lunch" or haute cuisine? Go elsewhere. Looking for pretty decent Greek food, on a budget? Rumors is your place. Came here for breakfast. Got the eggs Benedict and it was absolutely huge. Taste was good. The home fries were alright. The coffee is decent, and I appreciate that they give you a whole carafe. OK 5 stars just because they have HALF OFF breakfast on Sunday from 8-noon. What's not to like? The food isn't amazing, but will do. And the portions are ridiculous! I got the veggie omelet, which was literally the size of my head. If I had to say anything wrong with it, it was actually too overstuffed with toppings! SO MANY VEGGIES - BUT SO WORTH IT! There's nowhere else where you can get breakfast for $5 and still have leftovers! In addition, I got the side of hashbrown potatoes which were outrageous in size. See my pic. They weren't the best potatoes, but could easily be split between 4 people. The only thing to keep in mind is that only the entrees are 1/2 off on Sunday. We added a side of pancakes, which ended up being $1 less than the entree, but we could of saved money (wow I sound like my father-in-law) if we got the entree instead - plus gotten 3 pancakes vs 2. I called to find out why it was canceled, and was told that they couldn't make one of my order choices. We all ate breakfast items, so I can't say anything about the Mediterranean menu except that the gyro meat was good and was a very generous portion. Food was prepared to specification, although bacon could have been crisper. Two of our meals came with huge portions of Rumors special potatoes, which were ok but needed a little onion or butter or both. We weren't automatically served cream and sugar with coffee or jelly for toast. Dining area is clean; restrooms are clean.
