Brought 2nd car here (1992 Toyota Camry) that failed but owner (Edmund) showed & explained why (timing off by 17 degrees) indicating that it would pass as soon as this was fixed (for free by my mechanic who should have done it in the first place.) Now getting 3rd car (2005 VW diesel) done - anticipating passage for $53 total. This used to be a 5-star business (in my last review). Boy, how things've changed! You will still get a smog test for $50 or $25 plus $8.25 for the cert. with a Groupon coupon but you will also experience the rudest customer interaction you've ever been subjected to by a business. The technician was a heavy-set guy named Chad. I didn't get his female assistant's name. It almost appeared as though they were in competition as to which one of them could be more offensive in addressing customer after customer the entire time I was there. Always great service! Smog test done efficiently. The team here has always given me no b.s. service...Quick and friendly. Edmundo is a retired mechanic so he even let's me know when he notices things that need attention. I really appreciate that! I have a 95 Wrangler that wouldn't pass the first time but he told me what to fix, very minor adjustment....I came back and was more than happy to pay for the retest. I wouldn't want to go somewhere that passes my car just to get the slip! You can tell he loves what he does and takes pride in doing it right! Reading several other reviews here that have said their vehicles have passed in other places but not his. He does not take shortcuts!! I have enjoyed learning about the in-depths of how these tests work and having him educate me on how the tests should be done correctly! His front-desk employee is very professional. I have continued to go there many times and I am finally writing a review. They do not open when they say they are open. Put lunch sign on the door with a return time but don't make it back at all . Don't answer their phone. Also does not send in your smog check to dmv they say they do and then don't and then when u call they say go yourself and turn in to dmv. read more

Getting your car smogged sucks. Its a pain, and it feels like you are just throwing money away if you haven't modified your car, or if you have a decent car that you know isn't polluting. But like paying taxes, you don't have much of a choice if you plan on keeping your car registered. But these guys were really great. Great price, very nice, and friendly. They have a waiting room with snacks, books, magazines, TV and it wasn't very expensive. They just made a thing I hate to do, as enjoyable as it can be. I'm surprised by some of the bad reviews since my experience was so great. You can't get mad if you didn't pass. I know before I get a smog test, to change the oil, filters, and yes, make sure the check engine light is not on. That light doesn't mean that you open the hood to check and make sure you have an engine. :-) read more

I've been coming here for a little of 4 and a half years now brought in multiple cars , always feels like a breeze when I go. just a matter of going in and then before i know it, it's done and painless. It is in fact an honest business, I did notice notice that after trying to refer my friend to this place that, he mentioned the most recent reviews and how bad of a score they had given the place. Well fear not people, don't be swayed by incompetence, there is a rather large T.V. Screen that has been there a rather long time that does in fact let you know about the "Check Engine" light and what could be the potential cause. It's like this if theres a red light you tell just speed through, get pulled over and let him know that you didn't realize the red light was on? I mean it's right there staring you dead in the face,how could you not see, nor question wether or not it could be a problem. If your going to complain and moan and cry because you "didn't know, or didn't bother to read the screen why complain? It was there they tend to Always be there i mean, they make it obvious and try to draw your attention to it, they can't force you to look at something if you make the conscious decision to not look or ignore it. Such a horrible customer service. This place needs to train their employees way better or hire better happier people. The old owner and enployes were awesome. The old lady (from last owner) she will get her ass off from the seat in de front desk and walk to every single car to get our information in such a friendly way. This new black woman ( not been racist at all here, i want to be specific who i am talking about) she. Sat all the time i was waiting outside parked in my car. When i finally made it in, without a greeting or eye contact all she said was " Driver liscence, registration and millage" i gave her the info she requested, trew back at me my liscence and copy of my recit. And ask for my signature.... if she doesnt want to work there. She should look for another job. To the new owner. If you reaply want to keep all th clientel and new cuatomers. I buy and sell vehicles all the time so I have been to many smog shops. The one I normally go to couldn't see me due to too many customers for the time left in the day so I tried this place. The truck has a ca legal cold air intake and is legal all day the way it sits, the young tech who saw it failed it due to missing hose and told me to do the research to find out what the hose was for... I took it to a mechanic who verified what I steady knew (hose was to old air cleaner) and the new cold air intake came with plug to delete that old hose no longer needed. So I went. Back to smog shop where they had several cars waiting I found the tech to give him my results where he tells me he believes me and agrees to pass the truck. And asks me to get back in the 2 hour line after the truck already passed all tests accept for his WRONG visual test. I will never be back here... read more

But when I got there I found out their testing equipment was down and they weren't doing any smog tests today. Why didn't they tell me that on the phone? Came in for a smog test at 5pm. Car failed because intake was missing the carb sticker. Went back home to put on a carb legal intake and returned to the shop at 6:20. They refused to smog the car because it was going to take a long time and their computers automatically shut off at 7pm. Kind of ridiculous when they took 10 minutes to smog it prior. Today I had to get my honda smogged for my aunt; with all of these places charging 70 bucks or more with certificate for the smog, my friend told me about Cheap Smog. I tried calling and no one answered the phones so she just insisted to drive on over there. I was apprehensive because all these other smog shops you had to book appointments way out in advanced in order to get the car seen. So I drove to the shop, they were just finishing up with another gentlemen and told me to bring my car on in. I brought it in, thinking it would take a good 45 mins to an hour and Edmundo Sr. laughed and said come with me... I followed him to where the smog was being done and he said look at the clock... I said ok, it is 2:11, he then says watch how fast we are. He did his thing and then asked me to guess what time it was when he finished. I guessed it was 2:18, and to my surprise I was correct. It only took 7 minutes to smog my car and I was in and out of the whole place within 15-20 minutes with a passed smog check. The price out the door with certificate was $58 and some change... Still better than most other places that I looked into. Edmundo was by far the best! I will for sure be telling all of my friends and family about this place! They are awesome read more

That is just because the younger than 45 year olds don't know that they are the servers and therefore they give the service. It seemed like it was an inconvenience for them to tell you where to drive your car up to. If you are looking for the best price, they aren't the ones. Lots of discounted and coupons online. I will for sure be bringing my cars here EVERY time. I asked for a recommendation on the best and quickest smog place and was told by 2 people to try "cheap smog test" on petaluma hill road. I called the evening before to find out prices and to make an appointment. The man who answered the phone told me I wouldn't need an appointment but I let him know about what time I would be arriving anyway. When I arrived the next day, I walked up to the counter with my smog paperwork and noticed a sign. The sign said "please let us know if you had work done from a check engine light recently"... OOOPS.. I definitely had just had my truck worked on for that very same thing. That was the reason I needed the smog so quickly. My registration was past due since the light was on and I couldn't get it smogged.. when I finally got work done on it, I thought I could get it smogged right away. After I told them that I had work done on it recently (BEFORE they started the smog test), they let me know that I could get a free retest if I didn't pass that time. Of course it didn't pass since the codes weren't cleared yet. However, Antoine told me exactly how to clear the code. I needed to drive between 50 and 55 MPH... good luck trying to go that fast in traffic in Santa Rosa.. but eventually I was able to get it there and go the required amount of time. When I brought my paperwork back, I explained what had happened and They tested my vehicle in less than 10 minutes. It passed!! I brought back one other vehicle since then and it was just as quick.. It is so nice to be able to drive by. If they seem busy, I just come back in an hour. There isn't much space to wait so if 3 cars are already there, I recommend returning at another time. The smog checks take about 10 minutes maximum per car. love this place!! can't wait to go again read more

I had a pleasant experience here. I was nicely greeted by the staff and I was out of there within a half hour. NO drama or games, just get in and then get you out. I was asked to let them know if I had done anything they should know about before performing the test--good question! If you disconnected your battery, changed a tune, or whatever, make sure you have driven your vehicle awhile for your vehicle to re-learn its settings...if you have any codes showing, or your vehicle cannot run the OBD self test...you will fail! Only four star because the lines can be crazy long at times. I've read that some people have felt as he didn't pass smog check on their cars and felt ripped off! I have to say it was complete OPPOSITE for myself, he did everything he could do and spent a long time on my SUV so it would pass thank god! And I bring all my vehicles to him.
