L A Auto Car Sales & Auto Repair

These past few weeks when I have been struggling to use my car with two broken external handles, I…read moreWISHED I had the mechanical skills to fix my car. Since I do not, the next best thing was finding LA Auto which is Woman owned and Operated to fix my ride! LA Auto was brought to my attention thanks to the Projects feature in the Yelp App. I sent out a request for a job or service and Yelp broadcasted it to businesses to reach out to me concerning the service. I had initially had a different mechanic before LA Auto that was going to do the job, but a price change occurred before the vehicle was in their possession. Decide to nix that mechanic and go back to the drawing board acquiring estimates for the job. By this point, I had already ordered and picked up my parts directly from the dealership so they would match my vehicle. All I needed was the labor to complete the repair. I was really intrigued that there was a Woman owned and operated auto shop in Houston, so I decided to reach back out to the shop about an estimate for labor. My inquiry was Friday afternoon, so I didn't expect to hear back until Monday. Liz, the Owner, however, was in contact with me in and out the entire weekend asking for pictures of the parts to ensure they were correct for the vehicle based on the VIN as well as making sure they didn't need to paint the handles. She gave me a range on the price for the labor, which I could understand because she never saw the vehicle before- only pictures of the damage. We did most of our communication on Monday which offerred a great opportunity for me to get the car fixed that afternoon since she had an opening. I honestly thought I may have to come back another day to get the job completed because EVERY OTHER BODY SHOP I SPOKE TO said I would have to drop the car off just to get an estimate. I did that with one Pearland body shop and received a quote of over a THOUSAND dollars just to fix some handles! They even stated the labor was high because the panels of the car had to be removed. Thanks to Youtube, II knew that was not the case and Liz the owner and my mechanic confirmed my research as she completed the work on the vehicle in less than an hour WITHOUT removing the inside panels. She worked fast and I was even able to see her work from the office which provides a chair or two inside for waiting customers. A/C is blizzard cold inside the waiting area, so bring a jacket. This is not your car dealership waiting room with tvs and refreshments, so bring your own, but Liz worked so fast I didn't need to indulge in either! Really friendly, sincere, and affordable service from Liz at LA Auto. I am so glad to not only have my car repaired (FINALLY, with the exception of one small part that the dealership gave me in error that doesnt affect the main fix) but I am so estatic to support a small business owned and operated by women. I am telling everyone I know about LA Auto if they ever need repairs on their vehicle. This place is a real gem and deserves to shine!

However, my advisor Mr. Lot Orihuela Jr. demonstrated outstanding communication, thoroughness, and consistency. He kept me well informed at every stage, clearly explained the details of the repair, and followed up regularly to ensure I understood the status and next steps. His professionalism and attention to detail made what was a frustrating experience both smooth and reassuring.

Instead of working with me, I was basically told "you're out of luck." The offer they gave me was $15,000 less than what I had just paid for the vehicle and they claimed it was the best they could do. I ended up going to Doggett Ford, where they immediately stepped up. Not only did they treat me with respect, but they offered $13,000 more for the Corvette than Lone Star did. On top of that, they put together an incredible deal for me on a Ford Expedition Tremor. The difference in professionalism and customer care was night and day. Unfortunately, the problems with Lone Star didn't stop there. I also purchased a 2022 Chevy truck from them that had some minor bed damage. Lone Star told me they wouldn't even consider repairing it. Since it was meant to be a work truck, I decided not to push the issue because everything else appeared to function properly at the time. They also convinced me to purchase one of their extended warranties, which turned out to be essentially worthless. Only two weeks after leaving the lot, the truck's sensors stopped working and the rear camera began malfunctioning. When I brought the truck in expecting them to stand behind what they sold me, I was instead told I needed to pay a $300 diagnostic fee just to have them look at it. To make matters worse, employees in the service department and even some people from new car sales openly admitted that the used car department frequently pushes these warranties because they add commission, even though the warranties cover almost nothing. At that point, I had completely lost confidence in the dealership. Once again, Doggett Ford came through. They offered me more money for the truck to help get me out of the situation and put me into a more reliable vehicle with a lower monthly payment. It's honestly disappointing to see what has happened to Lone Star. The dealership used to have a reputation for taking care of customers and doing business the right way. Unfortunately, since Sonic Automotive took over, the place feels like the fast-food version of a car dealership, rushed, transactional, and focused on squeezing every dollar instead of building long-term relationships. After years of loyalty, this experience was extremely disappointing. I hope they eventually return to the level of customer service they used to be known for.

**Avoid AutoSavvy Houston at All Costs!**…read more My experience with AutoSavvy Houston has been nothing short of a nightmare. I purchased a Chevy Silverado 1500 from them in April 2024, hoping to save a bit of money, but it has turned into an absolute cash pit. If you're considering buying from this dealership, I strongly advise you to run in the opposite direction. From the very start, issues began to pile up. Within just a few days, the passenger side rearview mirror's motor stopped working, leaving me unable to adjust it. Simultaneously, the interior plugs in the truck stopped working. I tried to remain optimistic, but things only got worse. About a month later, I returned home from a grocery run only to discover that the passenger side front fender was barely hanging on. It turned out the fender had been "secured" with glue, which had completely failed. Then, just a few months later and only 5,000 miles into ownership, the transmission failed. Despite purchasing the highest level of vehicle protection warranty, I still ended up paying over $3,000 out of pocket. Not long after the transmission ordeal, a grinding noise started coming from the back of the truck. A trip to the shop revealed that the calipers were severely burnt and needed replacement. Once again, even with the warranty, I had to shell out nearly $1,300 more. And the problems didn't stop there. One day, my tailgate got stuck in the closed position. After diagnosing it myself through YouTube tutorials, I ended up fixing it on my own and had to purchase new screws since the originals were stripped. The latest and perhaps most ridiculous incident involved the fender I mentioned earlier--the one I had to reattach myself. While driving down the highway, it flew off the truck completely. I couldn't recover it, so I went to get an estimate for a replacement. The body shop confirmed my suspicion: the fender was never installed correctly in the first place. The improper glue job has now set me back another $700. In just 10 months of ownership, I've driven the truck fewer than 10,000 miles and already spent nearly $5,000 in repairs--this is with the "best" extended warranty available. Save yourself the headache, frustration, and financial drain. **Do NOT buy from AutoSavvy Houston!**

They then asked if I was interested in any other vehicle. I told them I saw one other one. The vehicle was at another location. They told me that they could get a video walk around of the vehicle and find out if it had been smoked in and they could ship the vehicle to this location. I told them I'd like to get out the door price (OTD) on the vehicle. The sales person said they ask their sales manager for the OTD. They then came back and said that the sales manager was working on the OTD. They then said they had this warranty they wanted to go over with me. They could tell I was not interested in it and the sales person then said we could remove it but my sales manager would want you to purchase the car today. (This is on a vehicle I have not seen. Also since the last vehicle was all smoked in and dirty interior. Alarm bells and Red Flags instantly went off in my head.) I instantly told the sales person no, I said I'm walking out and if I decide to come back then I would. I then got up and walked right out of the dealership. After doing some additional research all cars have branded titles. I wish I would have done better research before even showing up there. I'm just glad I did not purchase a vehicle from them. Live and Learned. If anything this was a teaching moment for me.
