Will, the owner, was really honest on the phone and came by our home within an hour to scope out our needs and provide an estimate. (we had a somewhat unique need for repair work). He gave me a very reasonable estimate and came back the following morning exactly as scheduled to do the work. I called Cheaper Sweeper after reading the reviews on Yelp and Will did a great job. He gave me a discount for cleaning both chimneys ($90 each) and installed 2 new caps. He arrived a few minutes early and moved and covered my furniture. He realized that my caps on my chimney were unique and he ordered new ones right away. He mentioned they typically come in within 2 days and once he receives it he will come by and install the new caps (without me having to be present) 2 days later, he knocked on my door to let me know he was here to install the new caps on. I called Cheaper Sweeper and within an hour, Will (owner) was here cleaning our chimney. We have not had our chimney cleaned for over 10 years so you can just imagine the amount of soot and dirt that's built up over the years! He said that our chimney is one of the dirtiest ones he's seen. (so embarrassing!) As he was leaving, I decided to have our dryer vent cleaned as well. He showed me how much lint has accumulated from the pipes of the dryer. He also re-attached the dryer pipes with the correct tape and provided advice on where to properly place the washer and dryer. He mentioned that he is also a contractor and provides other services like, interior/exterior painting and power washing. I found Bill using BBB search for accredited business. He was able to fit me in for a chimney cleaning the same day, ~25-30ft small chimney was $110, done in about 30-45min. He recommended I have a few cracks in the mortar sealed, didn't try and price gouge me, let me decide if I want to do it or he could. Found that my damper was bent and barely working. Really great job. He cleans from the bottom by the hearth, so you have to clear out about a 5 ft space for him to work. He also does chimney inspection, vent cleaning, gutter cleaning, cap and damper. My home inspection said I needed a vent cap, no idea what that meant, Bill explained I just need to measure the diameter of the vent, showed me which one, and go to home depot for a self install! Excellent, honest, and trustworthy. I will continue to use him for cleaning the chimney again and will recommend to my neighbors. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! This owner/operator is very UNPROFESSIONAL. Gave us a bid over the phone. The price ended up being almost double. We did have an issue with the chimney needing some work but the price increased for gutters too. William showed up without his work vehicle. It seemed like he didn't have the proper tools to complete the job. He made a big mess around our home with the debris from gutters. Didn't clean up after himself. Left cement on our lawn from the chimney work. William said he would come back to finish the chimney & gutters and never did. We've contacted him multiple times and he won't respond. Avoid this business!! Its not worth the trouble, expense and mess! I will be contacting the appropriate authorities to find out my options for a refund! read more

Awesome!! I finally got sick of having a waterfall in front of my garage. I found Cheaper on Yelp. After reading the reviews I decided to go with them. I explained the problem to Will and he was upfront and gave me an estimate. On the day of the appt. he called to come earlier which was no problem. He did a great job. I felt so bad because our gutters were so dirty and had debris from the builders. He spent over two hours cleaning the gutters. He gave me great advice on how to improve the drainage. I can not say enough good things about Will. After finding the top three rated chimney sweep services on Yelp, I called all three and Will was the first to get back to me and have availability that worked with my schedule. He arrived at the house, and checked out both of our chimneys. The main problem we were having was the flue on our upstairs chimney was stuck in the open position due to rust and soot build up. Will confirmed that our downstairs chimney was fine and didn't need anything done to it, and was able to fix our upstairs chimney flue and clean everything out very quickly. Now that the rain has stopped it is apparent that Will and Patrick dented or damaged nearly every gutter in my house, not just the one pictured. These idiots leaned a ladder directly against the gutters instead of using the proper equipment. This is nothing short of malicious damage to property due to willful neglect. I have had Will service our dryer vents on 3 occasions and have never been disappointed. Our dryer had issues with lint clogging up and when he serviced our dryer this past weekend, I didn't know that there was so much water that was accummulated in the vents. He went to show me what was coming out and it look like a shower/faucet of water coming out of the vent! He is an honest man and I appreciate the service that he provides. He understands our family's budgets and gave great suggestions on how to maintain our dryer vents as well as providing other solutions without any pressure to get it done right away. He was very flexible with scheduling and was able to do the work on my first preference day. The quote he provided over the phone was very competitive with the other services who contacted me. He arrived promptly (early, even), assessed the work load (under one hour), got straight to work and finished in thirty minutes. Will did a good job. I had him over to clean my chimney and then later to install a new cap. He arrived early both times, but called ahead of time to make sure that was all right. I don't know what other services charged, but he cleaned and inspected the chimney for around $108 and installed the new cap for $380. I'm hoping that over time that new cap will pay for itself in lower heating bills. He's straight forward and professional. Will inspected and cleaned our chimney as well as cleaned the roof and gutters in one job. He did a great job and even took the time to help asses a leak in the roof that was not part of the job at all. While he admitted he was not a roofer he provided his honest assessment of the problem. I found these guys on Yelp, and was looking for a quote to remove a pellet fireplace insert. A few places came back way too expensive (close to $400!!!) but I got a quote from Will that seemed very reasonable. I called and spoke with Will. He sounded nice enough and he told me the basic cleaning and inspection for a chimney cleaning ran $109. Fine, we made an appointment for the next day from 3-5 p.m. My wife made sure she was home and held off on making dinner for the kids until after the appointment. 5 p.m. comes and goes and he's a no show. It doesn't bug me too much, I have family in the trades. I know that sometimes things at jobs go long and you have no other choice but to stay late and finish the job, I get it. I call and leave a message just asking if he can be expected at all tongiht. If not, I was willing to set up another date and time. It's a chimney, I can live with a dirty one for another week or whatever. No call back. Nada, zip, zero. Don't you hate just not getting any call? read more

Unless you want to asphyxiate your entire family I'd go with some else! I used Will twice and both times he came into the house and cleaned the fireplace insert; he never went up to the roof. It wasn't until smoke was pouring into the house and I had someone else to clean the fireplace did I find out that Will never removed the cap off of the top of the chimney and he was clogging up the screen by ramming the ashes up the chimney and into the screen! Don't waste your time waiting for him. I called Friday and he said that he is too busy right now, and next two days. OK, i said lets make appointment wherever YOU have time. we scheduled for next week Wednesday (xmm... 5 days to wait...ok) Guess, what... on Wednesday, half hour before appointment he called me saying that he apologizes but he can't make it, he is running late. Can he make it all? NO!! when i asked when he can make it. The answer was - Friday! My advice is don't wait for that service at all, you are wasting your time. He is not only one in this business. Yelp saves the day again! My 83-year old mother in San Mateo needed her dryer vent cleaned (her clothes were not drying well, and someone had told her she really needed the vent cleared out). The same morning she told me this, I found Will/Cheaper Sweeper on Yelp and gave him a call. He was available an hour from then - would that work? I said Yes!! Told my mom to expect him in about an hour. She said he was on time, very friendly, did a Great job, and was careful to clean up afterward. Even replaced the dryer connection for her! Even better for her, as she's on a limited income - the price was extremely reasonable. She will need chimney cleaning as well, and we will Definitely be calling Will back.
