Crispy Chicken Caesar sandwich on seeded bun
    A B.

This is the first time I've been to the Southend location but I have been to the Elizabeth location a lot of times. I had the chicken Caesar sandwich which was amazing but I do have to say the amount of time I had to wait was ridiculous. I ordered 2 sandwiches and it took 40 mins.. They only have a tablet to order and if you need assistance you have to ring a bell for someone to open the door and help you. I understand they didn't have a lot of workers but they also just see you standing at the window and completely ignore you. I didn't like this location at all and probably will just stick to the Elizabeth location.

I am from Philly therefore am very particular about my cheesesteaks. Cheats is the first place in Charlotte I have found that comes even close to a classic Philly cheesesteak. They recently introduced cooper sharp cheese to their menu which I think makes all the difference! I love the cheese distribution and that it is mixed in and not just placed on top. The French fries were also perfectly crispy and seasoned well. It is quite pricy but it is a nice treat on occasion! I really wanted to try their fried chicken Caesar sandwich but they were all sold out. It looks devine and I am looking forward to coming back and trying it when it is available!

Cheesesteak (4/5): Decent cheesesteak but VERY overpriced. I built mine with ribeye, white American cheese, grilled onions, fried onions, and cheat's sauce. The cheese was pretty overwhelming and blended everything together into a congealed, one-dimensional sandwich. RATING SYSTEM 5 - Great (Need to get this again) 4 - Good (Would get this again) 3 - Ok (Might give this another shot) 2 - Not Good (Won't get this again) 1 - Bad (Telling people to avoid this)

First time at Cheats on a Tuesday night around 8pm. It's located right off the rail trail in Southend. Plenty of seating outdoors. Service we received was great although we waited an unreasonable amount of time for our food due to the orders being made incorrectly multiple times. Our server offered his apologies and provided us with comp fries while we waited. Overall very solid cheesesteaks. Had the mushroom add peppers (still missed the mushrooms smh) with provolone. Steak was well seasoned, portion were spot on and bread was good with the right amount of chew. Def recommend !

I've been rocking with Cheat's since the pop-up days and it's been awesome watching them grow into multiple locations. What started in 2020 as pop-ups around town (even Panthers games) became a brick-and-mortar on Pecan Ave in 2022, and now there's a South End spot right on the Rail Trail (2137 Hawkins St) and I'm loving the glow-up. This visit was a celebration lunch after wayyy too many missed meals cutting for an IBJJF tournament, and Cheat's mostly delivered like always. I ordered the Cheat's OG (ribeye, Cooper Sharp, grilled onions, Cheat's sauce) and enjoyed almost every bite.. everything between the bread was a 10/10. The roll was the only miss for me that day; maybe an off bake, maybe a new supplier, but it didn't wow me the way it has before. Still, the steak/cheese/onion/sauce combo? Money. I also grabbed the Honey Sriracha wings. The flavor was solid (more honey than heat for my palate) but tasty all the same. Next time I'll ask for extra heat. I love Cheat's and it remains an easy recommendation especially as a home-grown Charlotte brand that's scaled up without losing the soul of a great cheesesteak shop. Even with my quibble about the bread on this visit, it's still an easy go-to.

Food was good, service was absolutely abysmal. Walked up and no one was in line, no one was making anything. placed order using kiosk. Waited exactly 27 minutes for food. No explanation from staff on the wait or an apology. Not sure what's going on at the location, but I'll stick with the one in plaza Midwood and won't be back here.

The cheesesteak was out of this world amazing. It was recommended to us from a friend is from Philadelphia. Sorry I didn't take pictures of the seasoned fries, they were nice and crispy. 10/10 highly recommend!

I have lived in Philly. Been Executive Chef for years but now I'm vegetarian, I always thought whomever would make a cheese teak out of beyond meat products instead of impossible (soy based) would make a great sub. Well cheats did the damn thing. But just not a great execution, but amoroso sub roll. Cheezwiz was a memorable bonus, but the next time I'll switch to daiya. It add lil too much salt. Like the fries but the season was applies heavy handed. Lil seasoning would have created a greater taste profile. The exhibition fast food concept was great enough to inquire about franchise ownership.

was in the south end for a new year's special italian beef (on recommendation no less!!) but it's no longer available because apparently "February" is old for a year which I kinda guess makes sense. so I ask for a regular cheesesteak and fries. dude asks if I want a drink and I ask if they have orange; he says yes so I say yes then we do the money for food thing and I wait... about eight minutes later dude is calling my name and as I'm picking up my sammich a random doggo put's his face up near the counter in search of a prize... I let him sniff my hand, give him scratchies under the chin, and share some syllables with his person and wouldn't you know it... mr doggo didn't go head first into my bag because, well, you know... good mr doggo! get back to the house and sampled my goodies: my regular cheese steak was still warm and moist and delicious! cheese would have been a gawdawful mess if it weren't securely bound up in layers of paper and other paper and there's just enough onion hanging around to let you know 'onions!' without going all-caps about it... not sure how 'philly' it is but for a sandwich it's pretty excellent. fries here are still kinda weird but I think I've got 'em sussed: they are the right seasoning on the wrong potatoe. if you were to sub in yukon gold cut a little thinner, fried a little harder and seasoned with a restraint these would almost be nearly close to fresh out Andy Capp Hot Fries!

    Steak powerbowl

The location is excellent! After a good run, you can stop by for a cheesesteak or powerbowl. I ordered a steak power bowl. It was alright. A little bland. I had the cheesesteak before, at their first location. Maybe next time, I will try a cheesesteak at this location.

It's right on the way to my yoga studio, so it's perfect for a quick in-and-out lunch, but honestly, it's also the kind of place where you end up lingering longer than planned. My usual order is the ABLT on rye with Boar's Head applewood smoked bacon, avocado, lettuce, tomato, and mayo. Simple, fresh, and consistently delicious every single time. I almost always pair it with the Spinach Bacon salad loaded with spinach, cranberries, goat cheese, tomatoes, toasted pecans, and brown sugar peppered bacon. The portions are huge and definitely shareable. What makes Rhino special is that it's more than just a deli. It's part neighborhood market, part coffee shop, part beer and wine stop, and part community hangout. They've got local products, grab-and-go snacks, fresh sandwiches, beer on tap, wine, outdoor patio seating, and sometimes even live music. It reminds me of the small independent spots I used to love in the Bay Area around Burlingame, San Mateo, and Palo Alto. Relaxed, local, welcoming, and full of personality. The staff is always friendly, and the atmosphere feels genuinely Charlotte. Not overly polished. Not trying too hard. Just good food, good people, and a place that locals clearly love. And if you are visiting North Carolina, you absolutely have to try Cheerwine at least once. It's basically a Carolina rite of passage. Cherry soda lovers will probably be obsessed. Me personally? Not exactly my flavor profile, but people here drink it like water, so clearly they are onto something. Rhino Market is one of those places that makes a city feel like home. Life is too short to not eat well, Charlotte. Get out there.

You order at one window, grab an extra items, pay, then they'll call your name/number. Super easy. I ordered the Rhino Club described on the menu as: Boar's Head Branded Deluxe Ham, Lower Sodium Turkey, Applewood Smoked Bacon, provolone, bibb lettuce, tomato, dijon vin on choice of bread. The ordering and payment process was easy. I was solo so I took a seat at the bar area to eat. Sandwich looked good when I unwrapped it, large slices of toasted bread with fresh lettuce and tomato. The strangest thing was, on the left side of the sandwich were several slices of deli turkey rolled up. On the right side of the sandwich were several slices of deli ham rolled up. I hadn't seen a sandwich made like that before. It felt like half of a turkey sandwich and half of a ham sandwich as opposed to a ham and turkey sandwich. Was it bad? Definitely not. I waffled between a 3 and a 4 star for this one but felt generous because, overall, I liked the vibe of the place.

It felt like I was home on my couch hanging with friends. It's such a cool chill place. I loved the pizza, olives app and the old fashioned. Review for Pizza Baby…read more After a relaxing Vinyasa yoga class and sound bath at The Coterie Wellness one evening, I found myself hungry--and conveniently, Pizza Baby had just opened in the same complex. Perfect timing. Since it was still new, the restaurant wasn't very busy, and I decided to grab a table outside. The outdoor seating was lovely--relaxed, comfortable, and a great way to unwind after a wellness session. I'm a sucker for thin-crust pizza, especially when it's hand-tossed and thoughtfully prepared, so one item immediately caught my eye: the rosemary pizza with hot honey. Sold. I added Italian sausage to the pizza and paired it with a fresh green salad (I can never resist a good Green Goddess dressing). Yes, it was a little on the pricey side, but the quality matched the cost--and I was genuinely pleased with my choices. The crust was thin and flavorful, the toppings were balanced, and the hot honey added just the right touch of sweetness and heat. This is definitely a place I'd return to--next time with friends--so we can share a few different pizzas and appetizers and really explore the menu. A few practical notes: * Parking is generally easy since the restaurant shares a lot with neighboring businesses in the complex * There are several nearby spots, including a wine bar and entertainment venues, which make the area feel lively * There was some early parking congestion when a nearby church held services, but the situation has since been addressed with signage and coordinated parking solutions It's nice to see businesses and community partners working together to make things run smoothly. There's also another location of Pizza Baby that I plan to visit, which speaks to how positive my first experience was. Bottom line: Great thin-crust pizza, pleasant outdoor seating, and a convenient stop after yoga or an evening out. A solid addition to Charlotte's growing food scene--and absolutely worth checking out. And if you're already in the area for a class or wellness session, it makes for the perfect post-workout reward.

That chicken sandwich was so flavorful. It wasn't too crunchy as well. I despise crunchy chicken like I'm eating on chips and this was far from that. The chicken tenders were very good as well, no complaints. They have a homemade lemonade, nothing to scream about but it was good. The reason for a 4 out of 5, is because of their ranch. That search led me to Vicente in South End, and I'm happy to say it absolutely earned its spot on my list. The kouign-amann here was slightly lighter and a bit less dense and buttery than the ones I remember from the Bay Area, but it still hit all the right notes--caramelized edges, flaky layers, and just enough indulgence to satisfy the craving. When you find one in Charlotte, you take note. I also ordered a frangipane (marzipan) croissant, which is always one of my go-to pastries when it's done well. This one delivered--rich, nutty, and comforting without being overly sweet. I'm not much of a chocolate pastry person, so I tend to gravitate toward custard- or almond-filled items, and this bakery clearly understands how to execute those classics. The space itself is beautiful--clean glass storefront, modern aesthetic, and a welcoming feel from the moment you walk in. It's attached to a large apartment complex with underground parking, which makes it surprisingly easy to access. Very walkable, very convenient, and refreshingly low-stress compared to some of the trendier spots. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the prices felt reasonable for the quality. One small wish: I'd love to see a late-day pastry special or a loyalty program. I'm the kind of regular who will absolutely show up more often if there's an incentive--and let's be honest, pastries are hard to resist when there's a little nudge. I'll definitely be back, especially if they start experimenting with more creative flavors. A kouign-amann with poached fruit--nectarine, mango, or passionfruit--would have me running back through the door. And candidly, I'm grateful Charlotte's pastry scene is still growing. It means there's room for bakeries like this to shine and keep raising the bar. As someone who loves good food, I'm always rooting for local bakers and artisans to succeed. Bottom line: A beautiful neighborhood bakery with solid execution, friendly service, and a kouign-amann worth the trip. I'll be back--and I'm keeping an eye on that pastry case.
