I waited as long as I could for the grand opening hype to die down and couldn't make it more than a week or so before heading to NoDa for a taste. Great bread, cold cuts shaved razor thin along with the onions and lettuce are an excellent start for a hoagie and Ricci's covers the bases well. I got a large roast beef and turkey on a seeded roll with the works and it was worth the drive from LKN for sure. Given sandwiches are one of my most favorite food groups, I'm glad Ricci's chose Charlotte and am looking forward to many more visits. read more

The Philly hoagie shop comes to NoDa. Come hungry, leave stuffed! The shop has been busy as they were out of cutlets at lunch on Saturday. There were a few people at the counter but most orders seemed to be to go or food delivery pickups. After a few minutes it was my turn. I was happy to try their Italian sub with The Works - the guy just kept slicing and adding meat! My son ordered a turkey and American Cheese with no toppings- a typical choice for the kid. The bread held up to the meat and toppings. The 6 inch hoagie had good flavor and texture and it filled me up. My son enjoyed his sub too. There is no seating inside but there are 2 picnic tables plus a metal table for 2 kids along 36th St. other than being in the sun it was a good spot to enjoy lunch. If you're in NoDa, you're hungry, and need a hoagie to fill you up, visit Ricci's and you'll leave stuffed! read more

I love a good authentic hoagie so was very excited to hear abt this place opening up. I walked in a few min after they opened and was greeted by the friendly staff. I ordered the Italian, it was very good. Fresh bread, meat and veggies. There is no seating inside, least for now, don't know if there is a plan to add a couple tables later, and only a couple picnic tables outside so keep that in mind if you're coming with a big group or weather is nasty. Parking in the area can be difficult since it's Noda and most businesses don't have private parking lots, so just keep that in mind but I would definitely recommend. read more

Great classic hoagie, slightly above a jersey mikes. Freshly sliced meats, sliced thin, which is how it needs to be. They heard the feedback and the sandwiches have a way better meat to topping/bread ratio than when they first opened. The bread is still a little inconsistent, but when it's good it's good! Service is always nice and the shop is clean and convenient. Love having this in NoDa! read more

I went opening week and there was a line but they got through it so smoothly and all of the employees were so kind and fun to chat with on the way through the line. Grand Slam! I'm a self acclaimed sandwich snob. I'm very critical and went into Ricci's thinking here's another likely decent hoagie shop trying to bring a traditional hoagie from Philly to Charlotte. I was prepared to point out what was missing before I even took my first bite. Let me tell you, I tried finding a flaw. Not one! The bread is on point. The quality and the quantity of the meat was beyond what I was expecting. And the hoagie spread should be bottled and sold at stores. I had the old fashioned Italian. It was amazing. The staff were so helpful as well. With sandwiches this good, you'd think they'd be a bit pushy and impatient. Not at all. I can't wait to try other options next time I'm in Charlotte. They've been out of multiple items nearly every time I've gone. I still haven't been able to try the roasted red peppers after several visits -- they really need to iron out their supply chain. They also advertise "1920s pricing," but in practice, it's not 1920s pricing -- it's not even pre-COVID pricing. That said, credit where it's due: the bread is phenomenal. Good ingredients, good ratios. It does take way too long to get a hoagie, though, which wouldn't fly in Philly -- but we're in the South, so I suppose that's to be expected. One more thing worth mentioning: Ricci's markets itself as a big Philly staple, which I find genuinely curious. I lived in Philadelphia for years and never came across them, and neither had any of my friends from the Main Line, South Philly, or Fishtown. A new location just opened back in Philly with a marketing blitz similar to the one that introduced them here, almost simultaneously -- an odd coincidence that makes me think they've recently started franchising or expanding, though I can't say for sure. read more

Was super excited about this place opening up in the neighborhood. Got a whole Italian for the family. I'm not sure if the staff was annoyed we came in 10 minutes before close or what, but our sandwich was 95% bread and fillers, 5% meat. In looking at all the other pictures, we definitely got the short end of the stick. Bread was a little old too. I live in the neighborhood and was very eager for this place to open. I just did a pick up order today for the first time and the honey turkey hoagie with sweet peppers. It is very delicious. But I ordered and paid for extra meat, what you see in this pics I believe is the bare minimum for a sandwich. That's a little disappointing. In life, I look for someone I can count on, whether it's a business or someone I work with. I worked with people who if I asked them to get something done, I didn't even think about it because I knew it would be done. Then there were others I would check back with all the time, because I didn't trust them. Unfortunately Ricci's is in the latter category. I had a meeting in Noda Sunday night and told my wife I would pick up sandwiches for dinner after the meeting. I got over to Ricci's at 7, an hour before they're supposed to close. As I walk up to the door, I see a big Sold Out sign on the door, an hour before they're supposed to close. When you're open for business, you have to understand how to order and stock your business so you can be available for customers. I originally came when this place first opened and they were running out, and I could understand that. But now that it's been more than a few months, they should have it down, but obviously they don't. That's unacceptable. If they were out of maybe a sandwich or two, I could accept that, but to be out of everything shows a business that isn't being run properly. I already thought their sandwiches were too high the first time. Charging $18 for an Italian sub is ridiculous. Fourteen should be tops for a large sandwich. But not even being open is so disappointing. Why should I go to a business that I can't count on being open, especially if it's later in the day? I do food reviews and I tell everyone to go to La Lima, because their food is sensational and their service is stellar. And nothing on the menu is expensive as these subs are, and I guarantee you they're not close to the same in taste and bang for the buck. Such a disappointment. read more

Decided to try this new spot. For the life of me I don't understand why half points aren't an option on this app, but whatever. I'm giving them the bump up because it'd be uncool to round down. For reference, most of my reviews are 5/5 with a few bad exceptions. I do not enjoy giving a bad review, at all. I ordered the Italian, pretty much standard issue with salt/pepper, oil/vinegar. This sub was definitely decent and the highlight. Was it worth $14.29 for a *SMALL* with no side? Absolutely not, even with ridiculous Charlotte prices, that is egregious. That being said, no real complaints, it was fine. I also order the Fung to check out the chicken cutlets since it seemed like we were going for an authentic north eastern Italian vibe. This was so disappointing that I'm kind of mindblown they even serve it. The cutlet is basically strips of frozen chicken nuggets. It is incredibly dry. If you don't have water nearby it's literally a choking hazard. That being said, the prosciutto is actually EXCELLENT. It is some of the better prosciutto you'll get in this city. The difference in quality between these two items is so confusing to me. At the end of the day, I suspect they'll figure a lot of this out, and I give them the benefit of the doubt but definitely not worth ANY hype yet. Everything in this city is expensive these days but to spend $40 on two subs with zero sides and have them contain frozen cutlets is a little insane, IMO. read more

Just tried this for the first time, and my mom and I were very impressed! The staff was very nice and welcoming. They were super helpful with helping us choose which sandwich to pick. Absolutely the most legit Philly style hoagie in CLT. Great spot on Noda. Sure there's some places with a good Italian sandwich--but this is a legitimate proper hoagie--the same thing you'd get in NJ, PA and NY. Full of meat--everything fresh. Roll is good. Crispy 75 degree day, so I took a walk to the new Hoagie shop up the street to give it a go. Got a pesto Moz Cutlet and let me tell you.. it was massive. Mozzarella cut thicker than the curb I tripped over getting there. Pesto, on point! The cutlet however lacked in my opinion, otherwise it was a great sandwich. Go check them out! read more
