This is the coolest themed sandwich spot I've ever been to! My boyfriend and I were visiting a friend and he recommended this spot as one of his favorites-- Cheba Hut did not disappoint! Their food is super fresh and yummy, great service and absolutely loved the atmosphere. I ordered the "Bomb" meatball sub and french onion soup and DEVOURED it. Towards the end I bought a fruity pebbles marshmallow bar and that was delicious as well. Everything had so much flavor and they have a really good variety of items to choose from, theres definitely something for everybody. There are so many variations to pick from..and I had tried different variations, hot and cold...but my favorite is A-Train (mushroom+cheese!)...Mmmm. The staff and dining environment have always been pleasant and reliable. It's a good place to just chill...and you can pick whatever sandwich size fits how hungry you feel that day. The only downside is..parking can be a bit hard to find around UNM/Nob Hill...but honestly, that's not a shop's issue..and once you find your parking..you are good to enjoy a great sandwich in a relaxing environment! read more

Terrible service. I was told I'd be able to place an order over the phone but after 10 minutes of repeating my card info I was told to just pay inside and they wouldn't be able to start my order. Once I got it they found my order and I paid for it and then had to wait over 30 minutes. In the post-COVID era of late-night eats, there are not many options near UNM that are not jam-packed, especially after an event like an opera or play at the university. I have always enjoyed Cheba Hut for their very much Boulderesqe 420 chill vibes, good food, and great beer. Ok, timeout. I LOVE Cheba Hut. I am passing through town and found this spot by checking out the menu and the "counter culture" weed theme struck me as awesomeeee! I'm from NYC, where weed smokers are majorly underrepresented and Cheba Hut is the ultimate chill vibe for good food, good service, and a good time. Nothing in the store contains THC, but the sandwich names are all famous weed strains, they sell great savory munchie foods (healthy options, too!), great rice krispy varieties, and KoolAid on fountain. They also have a bar (with a happy hour from 4:20- 7:10) that serves local beer so makes for an extra dose of hangout. The sandwiches were delicious, I ordered 3 "Nug" -sized sammies and the staff member knew I was driving cross country so threw in a Fruity Pebbles rice crispy, which legit made my day. Beer, Koolaid, awesome sandwiches, and sweet treats?! It's a win from me! Their sandwiches are unique and always handmade. They take their time with each one and always care that each one is right! The few times that we have gotten sandwiches that aren't quite right, they have ALWAYS made it right. The customer service is so friendly and inviting. It's such a rare environment to walk into a restaurant and feel like you entered a friend's apartment or a hangout spot but that's really what it was like! He demanded i provide payment immediately after he served me one beer (a behavior he didnt demand from anyone else who came in after me). I've been coming to Cheba Hut more regularly this semester than in the past, lured by the daily drink specials and the always excellent sandwiches. This chain of marijuana-smoking themed eateries appeals to the psychedelic/stoner crowd, but the affordable beers and delightful brick patio also attract a down-to-earth clientele. Right in the middle is an emphasis on tasty toasted subs. The menu is long, and if you're not altogether sober it can be quite a task to decide exactly what will satisfy your munchies. Each sandwich is named for a strain of cannabis, or some related marijuana term. I've greatly enjoyed the Thai Stick (teriyaki chicken) and the KGB (roast beef and horseradish sauce), but all their offerings have earned a seat at the table. When you buy a sandwich, your next draft of any beer is just $3.50. The selection includes local breweries and a good number of other popular beers in can and bottle form.
