Today my travels took me to Albuquerque, NM. The hotel I stayed at recommended the Baca Boys Cafe. Great recommendation! Just around the corner, I found their cute mom and pop restaurant. The interior is simple but clean. The staff were overly friendly and welcoming! I sat at there diner bar style seating instead of a table. Their menu has several breakfast and lunch items available. I chose the pork in red chile sauce. It came with eggs, potatoes, and beans. The food came really quick, within 5-7 min. It was delicious!! The diced pork wasn't dry and blended perfectly in their flavorful red chile sauce. I tried the green chile sauce too, and it's fantastic but does carry some heat (just a nice warm glow not blazing hot). The potatoes, scrambled eggs, and beans bursted with flavor in the chile sauce. The sides were plentiful in quantity. If you are in downtown Albuquerque, you have to try Baca Boys!! read more

Looking for a hometown New Mexican meal and we found it at Baca Boys. Surprised to find it empty at 10:30am on a Friday, but it was an observed holiday, so downtown was pretty empty. Annie was a gem to have serve us. She kept our coffee cups full and chatted it up a little while we waited for our food. My friend and I each opted for the breakfast Carne plate, chile on the side-just in case it was too hot. Wonderful meal! Home cooked feel. Would love to go back for the tacos, as Annie gave them her "the best in Albuquerque" vote. Will definitely be visiting Baca Boys again. read more

Me and my hubby came to check out Baca Boys Cafe a couple of months back because we heard they had a good Monte Cristo and we had some business to tend to downtown. Well my husband finally got to taste the Monte Cristo and he loved it. He was very happy with every component on his plate. I decided to have a combination plate so I could taste a couple of things at the same time and boy did I enjoy everything. Everything was super delicious and I can't wait to comeback for more. My husband and I came here for breakfast on a weekend and the place wasn't busy at all but had a cool vibe to it. It's a hole in the wall place off of Central but the waiter was super nice. My first visit to this establishment was May 6, 2025. There is nearby parking on the street or in parking garage is not too far away. I went slightly after the lunch hour, so it was not crowded. I am told it can be crowded at lunchtime. There are many good choices New Mexican food choices on the menu. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Decor is casual. So let me tell you I was on a little obsession about finding a good breakfast burrito in Albuquerque and I tried at least 5 highly rated ones. None of them were as good as the one from baca boys. They are open early. Their breakfast is good. If you need something to eat in ABQ before 8 am, this is a good place to go.

Excellent! Carne Adovada breakfast plate was amazing. Meat had some bite but just right. Potatoes were good. Eggs cooked perfectly. Beans were right. Tortilla was so so. Not too much flavor. Bout the size of a large taco Bell burrito, but nowhere near chipotle size Fluffy eggs, couldn't really make out the red/gree chili sauce, but the inside was gooey and delicious. Carne adovada was good, but not my cup of tea as it was a little chunkier than how I like any protein in my burritos. Nice guy working the front. 1/10/23 - We arrived at 12:16 and didn't get our food yet...it's 1:03. They're so slow and we need to go. It looked good but don't come here on a time schedule or for lunch break unless you beat the rush I guess. We just got told they'll box and give us 1/2 off. We'll see. Food wise I cannot speak on it. Yet....I got it to go. UPDATE - We loved the food and the green Chile was my favorite. I also feel the way the owner stayed calm while being confronted by an angry customer was phenomenal. I get they were short staffed, but still I couldn't ignore the lateness and I would've probably suggested to go drinks too as well as the much appreciated 50% off. I do appreciate a good combo plate. A new, small, family owned restaurant that might be worth the visit one day. Since they are a new restaurant you can tell that they have a few kinks to work through. One being atmosphere, and service. The service was slow and not very attentive. And the atmosphere is very plain since the room is pretty small. What was really good was the food. We found this place on Yelp and it was perfect for brunch. I had the monte cristo sandwich and it was so good. I am not normally one for sweet & salty combo, but it tasted great. The place is not huge and it filled up quick. Every table was taken and they had to turn people away so obviously the place is good. The prices are reasonable and the staff is nice. We have never been here but found out it's been there since 2015. It was slightly hidden off Central and easy to miss if you drive by but worth checking it out. Helping him with his coffee, asking about his day, how his parents were. We're passing through on a huge road trip, started in Portland. Homeless are treated like sub human there more often than not. Once again looking for a place to eat nearby to where we were going led us here. Pretty easy to find - right off Central. Meter parking out front - but there was one close by. Walked inside to a small - 12 table shop. Found a table and was met by a very cheery server for out drink orders. Drinks arrived and food orders taken - chile rellano & tostada compuesto. She returns to tell me they're out of rellanos. Aaarrgghh you're killin' me. Ok I'll take the patty melt instead. Profuse apologies - no worries it happens. She returns with chips and salsa. Salsa's pretty good. Food arrived, the compuestos came out in home fried corn tortilla cups in chicken, pork & beef. Nicely spiced and delicious. The calabacitas were firm not overcooked. A nice little sit down cafe serving a typical new mexican fare which means burgers and plates with beans and rice or calabacitas (mixed squash). The salsa starter was delicious but not much to share amongst 5 people. Parties for 6 or more will need to pay extra to split checks. I got the combo green plate with calabalcitas which was a lot of food. It came with an enchilada and meat tamales and taco. I was surprised the taco was a hardshell with lettuce, cheese, and ground meat (like taco bell) and not the LA taco truck type tacos. Tamales were pretty salty and even though the sauce and cheese made it saltier, it was flavorful. Green and red chile were both delicious.
